"Let go of me you swine!" I snapped as Alec dragged me out of the throne room and into the reception area. "No!" I growled as I stomped my feet around, desperately trying to connect with his foot.

"Would you stop that," he sighed irritably as my foot collided harshly with his, sending a ripple of pain up my leg. "You can't hurt me, you'll only hurt yourself."

I ignored his warning and continued to thrash around in his grip. I could feel his hold on my arm get firmer and firmer the more I angered him. But my rage was blind, forming a red haze in front of the logical part of my brain, and I could not acknowledge that I was perhaps putting myself in greater danger.

I flung my free arm up to try and hit him, only for him to catch it. The action immediately made me freeze as I whimpered. "Humans," he scoffed, his eyes immediately darkening. "So breakable," he mused as he released my hand, allowing me to cradle it close to my chest. "Now, you're going to come with me, and you're going to come without a fuss."

I was on my way to conceding when the receptionist's voice entered our conversation. "Excuse me, excuse me, Mr Alec," her voice shook with nerves. "I have a phone call for you. She says it's important. It's a Miss Alice Cullen."

At the mention of Alice's name my head whipped over to the receptionist holding up a phone. "ALICE!" my voice bellowed. "Alice! Help me! Alice please!" I roared.

"Be quiet!" Alec snapped, jostling my body, but I kept yelling. "Hang up that phone," he ordered the receptionist calmly, her eyes widened and she immediately hung up and phone and timidly sat back down in her seat.

"No," I breathed as a sob wracked through my body.

Alec's grip on my arm loosened slightly in response to my distress and I used this opportunity to turn and look at him.

"Please. Please, just let me go," I pleaded. His hands immediately released their grip on my arm and I stumbled out of his hold.

I didn't turn to look back at him. I didn't turn around to ask why he'd released me. I just took off running the way they'd brought me in. If I could find my way to the garage I'd be free.

As I turned the third corner I came to a screeching halt as I found Alec leaned up against a wall waiting for me.

"What the…" I stuttered as I looked around. How could he have caught up so quickly?

"That's a neat little trick you've got there," he scowled as he straightened. "But I can't let you leave."

I turned around to retreat back the way I came, determined to find another way out, only to see him already standing in front of me. I let out a screech in shock. "How?"

"Vampire," he rolled his eyes as though it was obvious.

A reminder of what he was was all I needed for the fear to flood back into my veins. "Please don't kill me," I breathed as a tear fell from my eye.

Alec reached forward to catch the tear on his finger and looked at it sceptically before wiping it off on my sleeve. "We won't be killing you. Aro wants to keep you."

"I don't want to be kept."

"Well, we don't always get what we want," he muttered as he grabbed my arm, much firmer than he had previously done and yanked me down the hallway, back past the receptionist, and up to a room that would serve as mine. "All yours," he mocked as he shoved my body through the doorway. "Try not to make a nuisance of yourself human."

I darted my eyes around the room frantically before lunging for an ornate plate on my right, picking it up, and hurling it at his head. It smashed over his head and he did not so much as flinch.

He let out an aggressive exhale that sounded more like a growl before he began to stalk towards me. When he got within a step of me I stumbled backwards and his arm darted out to catch me. Arguably causing more pain than if he'd let me just hit the floor.

He stood me up and grabbed one of my hands. He held up one of his own and tapped my hand against his marble-like one. "Do you feel this human? Your weak attacks are useless against me. You can throw whatever you like it will not affect me. You are here. You are staying and that is final," he snapped before marching out of the room.

He was in the doorway by the time I made my next move. I'd always been impulsive, and that sometimes leant itself to recklessness. But I didn't register the danger of my actions, instead, I'd picked up another plate and already flung it at his head. He froze and I saw his body begin to shake in anger. He'd only just begun to turn back to me when a sharp voice cut through.

"Brother," she said warningly. He took a deep breath before storming away from my door, not even looking back.

I peered around the door to see who had saved me from his rage only to see Jane. I immediately jumped back in fright. She was the reason I was here. She'd dragged me away from the safe life I knew and thrown me into the den of vampires.

"You may want to work on controlling your heartbeat human," she mused as she looked me up and down. "We don't want to increase the temptation now do we?" she mocked and my eyes widened. "Don't you dare!" she snapped. In response to her subtle threat, I'd leant down to pick up another useless plate, but the harshness of her tone had me whipping my hand back into my side. Jane hummed aloud, looking me up and down one more time before sauntering off, back down the hallway.

As soon as she was out of sight, I flew across the room and slammed my door shut, before promptly sliding down the door as gasps wracked through my chest.

I'd been allowed to break down by myself for a mere 5 minutes before a knock reverberated from the other side of the door, making me yelp and scurry away from it.

I stared back at the closed door panting, my heartbeat pounding harder and harder with every second.

"Knock knock, human," a musical female voice called out kindly as the door slowly opened. "How are you dear?" she asked as she stepped into the room.

The woman's beauty was otherworldly. She was blessed with long, mahogany coloured hair that fell down her back in voluminous waves. Entrancing is the only word I could think of to describe her.

"Now now," Heidi muttered as she quickly zoomed around to clean up the mess I'd made with two smashed plates. "Probably best not to leave bleeding hazards lying around. With how angry you made him, if your blood spilt I'm not sure he'd be able to resist. The last thing we need is another Marcus sulking around," she mumbled to herself.

I decided to ignore her little rant. "Who are you?" I stuttered.

"My name is Heidi. He sent me to try and help calm you down," she smiled lightly as she came and sat on the couch in the middle of the room. "Would you like to sit with me?" she asked, patting the seat next to her. But I shook my head and refused to move from my position on the floor.

"Who sent you?" I asked hesitantly.

"Al…" she started, before tilting her head as if she was listening. "Aro did," she answered nervously.

"Why?"

"I have the most experience interacting with humans, he thought I might be able to talk with you and help you see reason."

"See reason! What reason! You and your friends kidnapped me."

"You'll come to enjoy it here. Volterra is a lovely place to live."

"Volterra? I'm in Tuscany?" my eyes widened. "How did no one…"

"Private plane," Heidi explained softly, as though she didn't want to upset me further.

"But why? What do you want with me?"

"The masters are discussing at the moment. When they've reached a decision they will send for you," she explained.

"Masters? What the hell is this place?" I scoffed. "Get out," I snapped definitively, and she looked slightly taken aback. "Get out of here."

"Willa…"

"Get out of here!" I sobbed. "I don't know you, just leave me alone," I started to crawl my way over to my trusty pile of plates again and she quickly stood up.

"Ok, ok, I'll go," she promised. "Just stop throwing plates or you'll hurt yourself. Which is not what you want to do in a castle of vampires," she warned. She immediately turned and began to leave the room. "Oh he's going to be so mad," she breathed as she closed the door behind her.

I gave it a few minutes, I want to be entirely sure that the monsters that resided in this castle were going to leave me alone. And as soon as I felt relatively secure, I creaked open the door to my room and looked around. There was no one outside my door making sure I stayed in. Perhaps they were relying on my fear to be my biggest captor. I sped off down the corridor, trying to retrace the steps the surly bookshop boy had dragged me along.

Although every corridor in this creepy castle looked the same and I quickly found myself disoriented. "Crap," I muttered as I walked around another empty corner. It'd been half an hour of fruitless wandering.

A snigger interrupted the silence of the corridor and I spun around. "Who's there?" I asked nervously.

Felix and Demetri walked around the corner and into my line of sight, making me jump back.

"You gave us away," Demetri grumbled as he shoved Felix's arm.

"She's been wandering around for ages, it's funny," Felix shrugged before smiling at me. "What's up?"

I looked them both up and down, it looked to me as if they were deliberately angling their bodies to appear non-threatening to me. "How long have you been following me?"

"Since you left your room," Demetri answered.

"Why?"

"Jane made us your guards. And it keeps us out of Alec's way for now so we accepted."

"Why do you want to stay out of Alec's way?"

"Oh he's been having a fit ever since he left your room," Felix grimaced.

I swallowed before nodding. Despite the fact that these two had been instrumental in my kidnapping, they seemed to want to be nice to me now, and that I could manipulate.

"He must really hate being hit with plates," I said softly. Felix's booming laugh then reverberated through the corridor.

"You don't say," he nodded. "How good is this?" Felix asked Demetri. "She's a little reckless. He'll hate that. What a match they'll be. She's going to have him tearing his hair out."

Demetri immediately elbowed Felix, who quickly fell silent.

"So can you stop following me?" I asked, deciding to ignore Felix's comment for the moment.

"No can do," Demetri smiled.

"And why not?"

"Well, we're high enough in the guard to be trusted with guarding you, but not high enough to make the decision to leave you alone. You'll need someone higher up in the guard to call us off your protection detail."

"And who's above you?"

"The twins, Chelsea and the masters," Demetri answered.

"Great," I sighed. "So I've no chance of getting rid of you?"

"Not a chance."

"Who's going to tear his hair out?" I asked, circling back to Felix's previous comment.

Both men immediately froze, clearly not wanting to answer.

"Human," Jane spoke from behind the two men.

Both men immediately transitioned their bodies. They were no longer relaxed and demure, instead, I watched as their eyes glassed over, their backs straightened and they assumed the position of soldiers.

"Come," she instructed.

"No," I scoffed, folding my arms across my chest.

I watched Felix and Demetri glance at each other out of the corner of their eyes nervously, before they separated and stood on either side of the corridor, providing me with a direct view of Jane.

"It wasn't a question. I am telling you to come."

"And I am telling you no," I smirked defiantly.

Jane glared at me. "The masters wish to speak to you. If you want answers you'll come with me without a fuss."

Now I didn't want to give in to the girl's demands. But I was more eager for answers. So I reluctantly nodded and walked towards her, following her down a corridor, with Felix and Demetri on my flank.
