It is morning on Ord Mantell, and Omega is in the refresher on the Havoc Marauder. It was mild on the ship but warm and steamy in the refresher. Light in the cramped refresher came from a few small lights on the roof. Omega could hear the voices of her brothers talking as she turned off the shower and started drying herself. She took a deep breath from the towel everyone used to dry themselves. The scents of her brothers, mixed with herself, combined with the smells and tastes of the ground and the body wash Omega uses to prevent eczema, calmed her. She grabs out her Batca wipes, which she uses to wipe down her arms daily, but finds the package is empty. Sighing, Omega got dressed and headed out.
She spotted Tech on his datapad but was carrying a black and red case.
"Are you going on a supply run, Tech?" Omega asked.
"Yes. Why?" Tech enquired, briefly looking at Omega from his datapad.
"Can you please get me some more Bacta wipes? I used my last one this morning."
"Oh. Sure, Omega, I can get some for you," Tech states.
"Thank you, Tech" Omega hugged Tech, who returned it, datapad still in hand. Tech then headed out of the ship while Omega returned to a seat in the cockpit.
"Why are you using Bacta Wipes?" Echo enquired.
Omega replied by pointing to her scarred upper arms, sighing.
Hunter, seeing this, took a seat on the bunk and opened his arms, inviting Omega in for comfort. Omega goes over to Hunter and snuggles against him.
Echo sat next to Hunter and put his hand on her back.
"You were there when I showed Al the scars, remember Echo?" Omega asked.
Echo replied, "I remember that. He was shocked and furious. I also remember you argued with Alejandro. What was it about?"
"We argued about the Bacta equipment he has to use to keep his body functioning properly. He wanted me to immerse my arms in Bacta, to reduce the visibility of the IV Scars. We eventually agreed to pick another day that I could do the immersion, and Al also advised me to wipe my arms down with Bacta wipes each day," Omega replied, sighing.
Echo nodded, then added, "That would explain the noise I was hearing. But I'm also glad that you two were able to resolve it,"
"I'm glad we resolved it," Omega replied.
Hunter added, "How does he know so much about Bacta treatments?"
"He has to immerse his arm and himself up to his armpits in Bacta once a week, and he has his right arm wiped down by a Bacta wipe every day. He won't wipe his back because people always ask him about the scar," Omega chuckled.
Hunter and Echo both nodded. The three of them stayed like that until Tech got back.
"Here you go, Omega," Tech stated, and when Omega checked it, she replied, "Good. The bacta wipes are one of the brands recommended by Aurora", before she went to her room to pack it up, ready for use tomorrow.
Later that night, the cold night of Ord Mantell didn't breach the Havoc Marauder and its sleeping squad. Even Tech is asleep with his datapad on the console next to his arm. The moon and stars are out. A loud, sharp scream destroyed the serenity and woke the entire squad. Immediately, although none of them had said it, they knew it was Omega who had screamed.
Wrecker was the first to reach her room, which was a good thing, as he caught Omega as she tumbled out.
"Whoa, kid," Wrecker exclaimed as he caught her but struggled to keep hold of her. Omega was thrashing about, evidently caught in a night terror, yelling, "Please make it stop!" repeatedly. It went on for several minutes before Omega calmed.
"Should we take her back to the nest?" Wrecker enquired, and though Tech was about to say something, Hunter waved him off and replied, "Omega will awaken soon. I say we get her to one of the bunks and wait until then."
"Alright, I'll keep her with me until then," Wrecker replied, and he took Omega to his bunk and sat on it. The rest of the Batch sat on either side. Sure enough, a couple of minutes later, Omega awoke.
"Are you OK, Omega?" Hunter asked, his voice sounding like a dad making sure his kid was OK.
"Hurt," Omega croaked, tears still streaming down her face.
"Where are you hurt, ad'ika?" Wrecker asked, a note of panic in his voice.
Tech examines her arm, and she winces as his hand crosses her forearm.
"Can I please check your forearm, ad'ika?" Tech asked.
Omega nodded and continued to sob into Wrecker's shoulder.
"Hey, it's OK. You're safe. We're all here," Wrecker cooed as he gently rocked Omega. Tech checked her forearm and saw a big bright red mark on her arm.
"She hurt her arm," Hunter sighed.
"She must have banged her arm on the seat," Tech stated.
Echo grabbed a medkit and gave it to Tech, and he opened it and administered first aid to Omega's injured arm.
"I want to forget the eight years of medical abuse," Omega moaned into Wrecker's shoulder. Echo put a hand on her back and said, "You're safe with us, Omega. The demagolkas won't hurt you".
"Thanks, Echo," Omega replied through her sobs.
She then turned to Echo and Hunter, "Can you please accompany me outside? I need some air,"
"Alright, ad'ika. Come here," Hunter replied, and when Wrecker let her go, she ran over to Hunter, who picked her up and held her.
"Grab a blanket, alright?" Hunter asked.
Echo replied, "Sure", and he grabbed a blanket before the trio headed out the front, leaving Tech and Wrecker to look at each other. After a few moments, Wrecker returned to his bunk while Tech went to Omega's room to check the ASMR music.
Echo wrapped the blanket around all three of them, keeping them warmer since it was cold out. The only light came from the Havoc Marauder and the stars in the sky. The scent and taste of dirt dominated the senses. Omega snuggles closely against Hunter, "There you go, ad'ika. Is being outside helping?"
Omega nods as Tech and Wrecker join them outside.
"We know how terrified you are, Omega. I know you want to forget it all," Echo started.
Omega sobbed, "I can't forget any of it. I can remember everything that happened to me. That's why I can't forget, and the scars, they're why I keep going back," which gave the entire Batch a horrid realisation.
Tech kneeled next to Omega and stated, "You've got a photographic memory, don't you?"
"It helped a lot with medical protocols. I only needed to read them a couple of times to stick permanently. But what Nala Se did to me also stuck," Omega nodded, lapsing into sobs again.
"It's OK, Omega, it's OK. You're here and safe. We're here and safe. Nala Se can't hurt you here," Echo started and repeated as he traced circles into her back while Hunter gently rocked her.
After a while, Omega calmed down again.
"You're rarely able to see stars on Kamino. And even when you could, there weren't that many at human eye brightness," Omega said, looking up at the sky.
"Way out in the Outer Rim, there wasn't that many to see anyway," Hunter stated.
"Ord Mantell is a Mid Rim planet, so the skies are more lit up with stars," Tech stated.
Hunter nodded and replied, "Even on Dantooine, an Outer Rim world like Kamino, you could see more stars,"
"They're beautiful. And seeing this sparkle like this, it's so calming," Omega smiling gently.
Echo smiled, "Are you going to be alright?"
"I think so. Can someone stay with me tonight? Please?" Omega begged, wiping the last of her tears from her eyes, which were still puffy.
"I think I'll stay with her tonight if that's OK with you, Hunter," Echo said.
"Sure," Hunter replied.
"Should I get your datapad? We can set up the music you use to help you sleep," Tech stated.
Tech left, and a couple of minutes later, he returned.
"Well, I know what triggered Omega's night terrors. The music she was listening to had heavy rain playing in the background of the music, likely triggering an association with Kamino," Tech stated as he changed up the sensory music. Echo sighed and replied, "The last of her triggers discovered, I hope,"
Hunter picked her up and started taking her back into the ship.
Omega was half asleep and held herself tightly to Hunter as he got up.
"You first, Echo," Hunter said as he reached Echo's bunk. Once Echo was in, Hunter gave him Omega, and she immediately snuggled against him.
"I recommend wearing your noise-cancelling headphones," Tech suggested.
Hunter waved him off, "I always do, don't worry,"
After Wrecker snuggled Lula against Omega, Hunter threw a blanket over both of them, "Good Night, ad'ika, Good Night, Vod,'' Hunter whispered.
Omega sleepily replied, "Good Night, biur," before everyone went to their quarters for rest.
The morning saw a somewhat tense atmosphere on the Havoc Marauder. It's a cool morning, and Hunter sits in the cockpit. The hum of the ship is calming. Hunter could also taste and smell the metal of the Havoc Marauder combined with his brother's alertness and the dust of Ord Mantell. He could faintly hear the shower in the refresher, where Omega was. Hunter, however, could barely hear Omega's voice in the shower, sounding different. Hunter could faintly sense what she was doing. He knew it was a good stress reliever for her. The other members of the squad joined Hunter in the cockpit.
"Have you created the playlist you want Omega to listen to while she sleeps?" Hunter asked Tech, who stated, "I have the audio required ready to go. I've got it on repeat and remix, so hopefully, it'll help."
"Good," Hunter replied. Wrecker then added, "So, Omega's got a photographic memory,"
"Yeah. Omega explained how it fuels her nightmares last night," Echo sighed.
"I assume you've been talking to her to help her with this?" Tech enquired to Echo, who nodded and said, in an exasperated voice, "I have. But these things take time, and a lot of it, to resolve, and I'm not a professional psychologist. I'm just someone whose trauma overlaps with hers. And she wants to leave what happened to her in the past. These nightmares and night terrors, they'll continue. All we can do is support her through them and do what we can to help reduce their frequency and severity. I've been with you guys for more than eighteen months now, and I still get them,"
"We all do, Echo," Hunter pointed out. "We knew that Omega suffered medical abuse. Her scarred upper arms proved this. But I didn't know she had endured it for most of her life."
"No wonder she's having so many nightmares and night terrors," Echo replied bitterly.
Tech stated, "When we first took her in, I didn't expect her to be as traumatised as we are. But here we are. All we can do is what we've been doing. Support her as much as possible,"
"That's true. We always support each other through our trauma. That extends to Omega." Hunter said. The Batch all agreed, then briefly lapsed into silence.
"There's something else I'd like to talk about as well," Hunter broke the silence after Omega turned the refresher off.
"What is it?" Wrecker asked.
"Crosshair," Hunter replied. Tech then stated, "I'm going to assume that you're going to talk about him returning to us,"
"What are you talking about?" Omega enquired as she exited the refresher, dressed and brushing her hair.
Hunter replied, "We briefly talked about your photographic memory, and now we're talking about Crosshair". Omega took a seat next to Hunter and said, "Well, we saved each other on Kamino. And he helped capture the fugitive. I think he's shown his trust. Crosshair had several opportunities to kill us, but he didn't,"
"That he did. And for that, we are grateful. Right?" Wrecker boasted.
Tech stated, "Right,"
"We didn't show that we trusted him on Kamino. That's why he didn't go with us," Echo pointed out.
Hunter replied, "That's true. He's regained trust with both Omega and me. It's you three that need to get his trust back before rejoining,"
"That's true. Is Crosshair seeking to restore our trust, though?" Tech stated.
Hunter responded, "I don't know. I don't think he's seriously working on it, but if there's an opportunity to prove that he's trustworthy,"
"Then he'll go for it. Right?" Omega asked.
Echo replied, "Knowing he trusts you two will make it easier for me to trust him again,"
"I hope we get him back. I miss him," Wrecker groaned.
Tech stated, "We all do Wrecker. Hunter and I probably more than anyone else here. Yes, even you. Omega,"
"Considering you used to vent to him, Tech, that isn't a surprise," Omega replied. She then turned to Hunter and asked, "You were close to Crosshair?"
"We were the closest out of anyone here. Even after everything we went through, we were still vod's. Losing Crosshair hurt more than almost anything else," Hunter sighed. Omega then asked, "Almost? Was there something more painful?"
"Not, more painful. But equally intense," Hunter replied.
Omega asked, "What was it?"
"When I thought I was going to lose you, ad'ika," Hunter replied, hugging Omega closely, which she returned, and replied, "Thanks, buir,"
"We're all your buir, Omega. Even Cut and Suu are technically your buir too," Tech stated. Omega turned to Tech and asked, "Wait, how do you know that?"
"Suu told us that you called her mom several times during our month on Dantooine," Hunter replied. Omega smiled and replied, "She's a kind and compassionate woman. Suu was very nice and helped support me through my first period and night terrors. She did everything that a mom would do. And, since Shaak Ti died, and Suu was just like her, I think it fits,"
"Agreed," Hunter replied. Echo then added, "Suu did confess to me that, if she didn't have parental responsibilities, upon seeing Omega, she would have joined us on our travels,"
"She's got Crosshair's skill with a sniper rifle. She would have been very handy," Tech stated.
Hunter replied, "She said that to you?"
"Yes. And Cut confirmed it. They had that conversation a couple of days after they arrived on Dantooine," Tech replied.
"Well, we would have loved to have had her on board. Certainly would make things easier with a female ally around," Echo admitted.
"So, what do we do now?" Wrecker asked.
Hunter stated, "Well, I want you guys to answer one final question. When Crosshair gets the trust of you guys back, would you let him back into the squad"
"Absolutely. It'd be good to have Crosshair back, as harsh and unyielding as Crosshair can be," Tech stated, and both Echo and Wrecker nodded, with Wrecker adding, "I miss him,"
"We all do," Echo replied. Hunter nodded, then stated, "Well, we'd better see if Cid's got anything for us,"
"That we should," Tech stated and after everyone suited up, Omega having a little trouble with her blacks and armour due to a recent growth spurt, they departed for Cid's parlour.
When they arrived, out the front of Cid's parlour, hewed out of sandstone, they saw Cid waiting for them outside.
"There you five are," Cid stated.
Hunter enquired, "What's brought you out here?",
Cid stated, "I've got something to help Tiny with her training, as well as to help her get used to her armour. So, follow me and stay close". The Batch all looked at each other and followed Cid towards the edge.
The outskirts of the city was a mild place mid-morning. The facility looked like an adult obstacle course. No clear lights, which considering Ord Mantell's star provided more than enough light, didn't matter. Hunter could hear the chatter of the personnel stationed there and more personnel training on the equipment. He could smell and taste the sweat of the soldiers combined with the ground and the fibres of the wood and ropes that made up the course. Everyone saw that the base was well maintained, though Hunter noticed that much of the equipment was size adjustable.
"This is intense. A bit much for a 13-year-old girl, don't you think?" Hunter enquired, slightly nervous seeing many obstacles.
Cid stated, "Come on, Bandana, if Tiny wants to be a Clone Commando like you boys, this is training that Tiny needs. I heard you had all those states of the art training facilities on Kamino, but this is Ord Mantell. And we're doing this part my way," before she went to talk with the soldiers.
"Sorry I asked," Hunter replied as she left. He then turned to Omega and stated, "Ready?"
"Let's see what Cid's got for me," Omega replied. Soon, Cid returned and stated
"Now, before we begin. I did commission this from an Ord Mantell Military facility. Some of these are too big for Tiny. That's why Tiny needs to check the obstacles to adjust for her height."
"Alright," Hunter replied, relieved. Omega ran over to the first obstacle and checked it out.
"I've talked with the military personnel, and they've agreed that you should tackle the obstacles one at a time. Once you've got each one down, we'll test you to see how many in a row you can do," Cid stated as the military personnel adjusted the obstacles to her size. Omega nodded and, looking at the course, "There's a lot of obstacles here,"
"That's because Cid wanted to test you in as many skills as possible," one of the military personnel replied. Soon they were joined by the rest of the Batch.
"You guys think this is an acceptable test for Tiny?" Cid enquired.
Tech stated, "Individually. I think Omega shouldn't tackle the entire course at once. Not yet."
"Thanks for the input, Goggles," Cid sneered before she turned back to the military personnel.
"Like Goggles said, one at a time. Oh, Tiny, can you crawl underneath the concertina wire just here? And make sure you have your bow," Cid stated. Omega briefly looked at Cid, the puzzled expression not clear due to her helmet, but after a few moments, she clicked her Zygerrian Bow to the back of her armour and did so.
"Alright. It looks like we could lower the wire a couple of inches," one of the personnel stated.
The others nodded and lowered it a bit.
"There we go. Only a military crawl will fit under there without snagging on the wire," another military personnel stated before turning to Hunter and asking, "What's her name?"
"Omega," Hunter replied.
The trooper nodded and kneeled next to Omega.
"You can crawl out now, Omega," he stated.
Omega nodded and crawled her way out. That was easy, as she was right near the entrance.
"Alright. One other thing, Omega's got some mimicry Ability. The best way for her to learn is to watch and imitate," Hunter said.
The personnel replied, "Wait, she's force-sensitive or something?"
"Not that I've been able to detect. Mimicry can, however, be mistaken for force sensitivity," Tech stated.
The Personnel nodded, turned to face Omega and replied, "Watch and learn. And good luck,"
"Alright," Omega replied, and the personnel nodded, then got into position. She Commando crawled under the wires. Due to being a fair bit bigger than Omega, however, he got caught in the wire several times. Once he got out the other side, he said, "Would you like to follow me through this again?"
"Sure," Omega replied excitedly.
The personnel smiled and said, "You're certainly enthusiastic. I like it," before he got into the commando crawl position and started crawling. After watching it a second time for a bit, Omega follows. She feels the wire scrape against her bow several times but manages to get across.
"That's certainly something I'm going to have to practise. That commando crawl is a bit uncomfortable when doing it the first time," Omega commented.
The personnel replied, "Let me see your positioning as you move,"
Omega made the commando crawl again under the wire.
"Ah, I see now. It's not bad. Just adjust your position slightly. Slightly off the ground. The wire may catch a bit on your bow, but trust me. It'll be more comfortable," the Personnel replied.
After a few more runs through the obstacle, Omega got the hang of the course. The personnel said, "Good work, Omega", and he looked to the other Batchers, who gave thumbs up in approval. He then turned back and said, "Now for the next obstacle. Let's test how good you are with that bow, eh?"
"Alright," Omega replied, breathing hard as they headed towards the shooting range.
With Cid and the Batch
"Looks like Tiny could do some cardio training," Cid commented.
Hunter replied, "That's something we should have considered. But we'll get onto it as soon as possible. Right Tech?"
"Already looking into cardio exercises for Omega," Tech stated, already on his datapad.
Back to the Personnel and Omega
The shooting range had six targets on it and seemed to be able to slide distances. It also had headphones and was set up like a typical shooting range.
"Alright. So, how far from the target do I have to stand?" Omega asked,
The personnel replied, "Well, it's at 50 feet. We can start there,"
"Cool," Omega replied, and she set up her Zygerrian bow. Purple beams ran to the middle of the bow as she pulled back.
"Steady, stay on target and shoot," the personnel said, and Omega shot. She hit the target, though not on the bullseye.
"Good start. Let's see how many you can hit," the Personnel stated.
Omega nodded and repeated the process five more times, getting a 50/50 hit rate.
"That's better than when I first got it," Omega said as she counted her hits.
"With practice, you'll get better. Particularly at longer distances. Let's try this again." the Personnel stated.
Omega nodded and started again.
Over the next few goes, Omega got her accurate rate from 3 hits from 6 shots to only needing 9 to nail all 6, including 4 of them in the bullseye.
By now, the personnel could see Omega was getting tired
"Alright. I think that'll be it for now. Didn't you get a good sleep last night?"
"No. I'm plagued with nightmares and had a bad one last night. Took the squad ages to calm me down," Omega replied, sighing as she deactivated her bow and placed it behind her again.
"It's OK, Omega. You're not the only one who gets nightmares. We can try again tomorrow If you want," the personnel suggested.
Omega nodded and replied, "Sure, I'd like that,"
"I also recommend we start on cardio training, alright, Omega?" Tech suggested.
Omega enquired, "Cardio training?"
"It's exercises and training to improve your energy and stamina, so you don't tire so quickly from things like this," Tech explained.
"Alright. Good luck," the personnel replied, smiling at Omega. After a round of thanks, the Batch returned to the Cid's Parlour.
Back at Cid's Parlour, only not as seedy as usual due to it being only mid-afternoon. It was colder in the Parlour. The gambling machines, dingy lights in the ceiling, alcohol cabinets and holotables lit the area up. With fewer holotables active, the hum of the electronics was lesser. The scents and tastes of alcohol and spice were less potent though the electronics were more. The other sound came from the shower.
Omega looked tired when they arrived at Cid's Parlour and had not come out of the refresher for almost half an hour.
"What's going on in there?" Hunter asked, concerned. Cid looked puzzlingly at the door, then walked over to the door and tapped on it.
"Hey, Tiny, are you OK in there?" Cid asked, and she heard a sudden noise from Omega on the other side.
"Wha! What? Ah, sorry, I'm almost done," Omega called back. Cid chuckled, then said, "Take your time, and try not to fall asleep again, Tiny."
"OK, Aunty Cid," Omega replied, and Cid was stunned, and the entire Batch chuckled.
"Did she just call me Aunty Cid?" Cid asked, astonished. Hunter smiled, then replied, "Welcome to the family".
"Watch it, Bandana," Cid snapped, though she privately admitted that she was happy that Omega considered her family. Soon, Omega exited, fully dressed, and said, "I'm exhausted. Can I get some sleep now?"
"Sure. Follow me," Cid replied. She led Omega to the spare rooms. Knowing what was helpful for Omega, she set up music for her. Soon, Omega was asleep, allowing Cid to return to the parlour.
"You boys introduced her to caff yet?" Cid enquired.
Hunter replied, "We've considered it", while Tech stated, "We thought she was still a little young to be drinking caff at this stage".
"I think it's about time we considered it. Omega's frequent nightmares are hurting her sleep pattern," Echo replied.
Tech stated, "We'll discuss this tomorrow".
"Agreed," Hunter replied.
It was a cold morning on Ord Mantell, especially in Cid's Parlour. Omega noticed the lights came from the alcohol bar everyone was sitting next to. The only sounds came from an activity outside. She could smell and taste the electronics, alcohol and spice, though she didn't know what Spice was. The ground was still soft but rough on her shoes. As she joined her squad, she huffed, "Why do I have to do cardio training in addition to all the training I'm already doing?".
Tech sighed, then stated, "Because we believe it'll help you long term. You're getting used to wearing your armour, but a well-rounded training program is crucial to the success of a Clone Commando".
"Fine," Omega sighed, still not entirely happy with the aggressive training regimen. Cid chuckled from nearby and stated, "Don't worry, Tiny, you're only doing one of the parts of the military exercise from now on. Don't want to overload you,"
"Thanks, Cid," Omega replied, smiling.
After her first cup of tea, which seemed to boost her up nicely, it was time for stretches.
"There we go," Omega said as she finished. She turned to Tech and said, "Sorry about getting huffy earlier. I just feel overloaded at the moment."
"Understandable, Omega. You've been through a lot. You need time to process it all. As Cid said, we're going to take it a bit easier over the next couple of weeks, so you don't feel so overloaded," Tech stated.
Omega nodded and replied, "Thanks,"
Tech instructed her on cardio training, only looking away from his datapad to ensure Omega was doing them correctly over the next half hour.
"Whew. That was intense," Omega admitted.
Hunter replied, "It'll get easier as you go along. This is your first session, so it was always going to be intense".
Wrecker suggested, "How about you take a break for the rest of the morning?"
"Sounds good," Omega replied.
Cid stated, "We'll be going to the military barracks this afternoon, Tiny; you can start on the Climbing Ladder. How does that sound?"
"Hopefully, it's not too big, but it does sound like a plan," Omega replied before she headed back into the Havoc Marauder.
She spent most of the morning drawing while listening to music that she'd found calming and relaxing as she drew.
When the Batch and Cid arrive, they spot the beam ladder waiting for them. It's some 20 feet tall, and each rung is two feet apart.
"Is Omega going to be able to climb that?" Hunter asked as he checked.
A Defence Personnel standing nearby said, "We're just about to reduce the gaps a bit, to make it a little easier."
"And what's the purpose of this?" Echo enquired.
Cid stated, "Balance, Stamina, Upper body strength, they're the main ones, right?"
"Right. Hopefully, this won't prove too difficult for your daughter," the personnel replied.
Hunter nodded. He then turned to Omega and asked, "Are you ready to go?"
"Ready," Omega replied. Once adjusted, the personnel instructed Omega on the best way to ascend the ladder.
Soon, Omega was ready.
Her first two attempts failed, and Omega fell to the ground.
"You OK?" the Personnel asked as Omega pulled herself up. After a few moments, Omega replied, "A bit shocked at how suddenly it all happened, but I'm fine,"
"Good. It looks like you've got to control your balance a little more. I recommend taking it a little more slowly, alright?" the Personnel suggested.
Omega nodded and said, "Sir, yes, sir", which got a small chuckle from the personnel.
Omega got further the second time before she lost her footing two-thirds of the way up, leaving her dangling as she struggled to get her feet back onto the rung.
After a few very nervous moments for the Batch, Omega managed to regain a footing on the rung.
"Great job, Omega," the personnel called. Omega smiled under her helmet and then fell back onto the netting.
The third time, Omega managed to get to the top.
"I did it!" Omega cheered as she reached the top rung.
Hunter called, "Good work, ad'ika. Now be careful coming back down, alright?"
"Alright," Omega replied. It didn't go well, as she immediately misjudged and fell into the nets, tumbling across the net and onto the ground.
"Ouch," Omega said as everyone went over to check on her.
"Misjudged the gap?" the personnel asked.
"Alright. You've at least ascended the beam ladder. That is fantastic progress for today. Rest up, and we'll try out the balancing beam tomorrow," the Personnel suggested.
Omega nodded and replied, "Sounds good".
"Are you hurt at all, Omega?" Hunter enquired.
Omega stated, "A little dizzy from all the rolling, and my leg is a little sore, but I'm fine otherwise".
"Alright. We'll go back to Cid's, and you can rest your leg there," Echo suggested before turning to Cid and asking, "Do you have somewhere Omega can rest her leg?"
"Yeah, Scomp Link, I've got something. Come on, time is money, and I don't want to waste any more than I must," Cid stated, and she made her way back to the parlour, with the Batch following behind after a round of thanks.
And so, the routine continued for the following couple of days. Next up was the balancing beam.
"This will test your balance, something important. Not just for the military, but everyday life," the personnel, now a woman, said as she supervised Omega's time in the barracks.
"This shouldn't be too hard then, I hope," Omega replied.
The female personnel smiled and nodded.
"Now, it's time to show you. I don't expect you to do it the first time, so if you lose your balance somewhere, don't get upset about it. Alright?" the personnel said.
Omega nodded and replied, "Alright".
The female personnel then showed off the balancing beam. Omega held her hands on her head and stepped between the beams in an alternate step fashion, her left leg over it while looking to the left, then the same with the right.
The beam turned out to be the easiest for Omega. With the bars lowered to accommodate her frame, she could slowly do it on the first attempt.
"Very well-done, Omega. Let's try it a couple more times, and we can do more practice with your bow. How does that sound?"
"Sounds great," Omega replied excitedly.
With Cid and the Batch
"Tiny's developed quite the liking for shooting that bow of hers," Cid stated.
Hunter replied, "It's her main weapon at the moment. We haven't started training her on using a blaster yet".
"What are you waiting for?" Cid sneered.
Hunter replied, "The preferred person for the job," when he turned to the others, they met his gaze, knowing he was referring to Crosshair.
Back with the female Personnel and Omega
Once Omega had done the balancing beams, the duo returned to the training ring to try out Omega's skill with her Zygerrian Bow. Having done a bit of practice in between, she got her accuracy up slightly and could fire a bit more quickly.
"You're making steady progress all around, Omega. I'm sure your fathers and aunt are proud of you," the person said to Omega, who nodded and replied, "I'm sure they are. I hope this will come in handy in the future".
"I'm sure it will," the personnel replied. The squad thanked the personnel. The Batch decided on a rest day before heading on a supply run.
Two days later, Omega was back at the barracks, ready to take on the climbing net.
"This one shouldn't be too hard either. Just keep moving, always keep three points of contact, and be careful," the personnel, another female, said as she demonstrated what to do on the climbing net.
"That looks fun," Omega said, smiling once again excitedly at the obstacle before her.
And although it was close to as fun as Omega had predicted, she was surprised at the obstacle's difficulty. Firstly, when she completed the vertical aspect, she realised she was 30 feet in the air.
Then there was the horizontal aspect, which Omega found had a small margin of error. And although she didn't get hurt, she did fall at this part multiple times, each time caught in the Undernet.
"This isn't as easy as I foolishly thought it'd be," Omega admitted to the personnel as she went for the fourth attempt at this.
She replied, "It's OK. This obstacle always takes a few goes".
On the fifth attempt, Omega successfully navigated the obstacle and the diagonal climb to the ground, much to the applause of the watching crowd.
"She's made a lot of progress in the week she's been here. She must have already received some training from you guys," the personnel said.
Hunter replied, "Yeah, but never like this. We didn't even consider something like this".
"You can thank Cid for the suggestion," the personnel stated,
The whole Batch replied by thanking Cid.
"No worries, boys, this is all for Tiny. Maybe you boys would like a play on it too?" Cid suggested.
Hunter turned to the remainder of the Batch and replied, "Should we?"
"I'd love to," Wrecker replied. Hunter nodded, and now it was the Batch's turn on the confidence course.
Omega watched on, amazed, as her brothers aced the course in record time. Omega was surprised at how far their skills and training had gotten them. She had struggled with it, yet her squad aced the entire course quickly.
"That was a lot of fun, great suggestion Cid," Hunter said.
Cid replied, "You're welcome, Bandana. Oh, I got a message just now. The Empire's got wind of the Rogue Kaminoan, and another Clone needs your help to get him out,"
There was silence for a bit from the Batch. After a few moments, Hunter sighed and asked, "How long before he gets here?"
"He'll be here in a few days, Bandana, so you've got to get ready. You've got a big battle on your hands".
"Alright," Hunter replied, and the Batch returned to their quarters to ready for combat.
