Hey everybody, hope you're all well! I was talked out of holding on to this update, so here it is! But first, reviews :3

Hellibleri: I felt it was time that Kaneki suffered a little from human food, even if he's already suffering plenty in other aspects of his life.

Guest: I guess we'll just have to find out when that eventually happen!

SkyChaser17: I'm glad you enjoyed the interactions, they're my favorite part to write!

HeartstringsBlue: I'm beyond happy to see that you enjoyed my attempt at a 'date' between Kaneki and Velvet, since I had to do some questionable research in attempt to write it. It's nice to see you mention Fox's point to Coco, since I felt that he's the grounded one between him and Coco, and showing two sides of a conversation not understanding the other was a fun little experiment, I might do it again sometime! Thank you for the kind words, and again, I'm so happy that you liked it!

CykaBlyatintensifies: I would like to find out more too! According to some friends in my Discord, I'm writing a 'slowburn' or something. Still don't know what that means, but if it means I don't have to focus on romantic relationships too often, I'm totally okay with that!

KnightOfZaku: I'm sorry to make you feel dread, but at the same time, it was totally my intention, so I can't be too sorry, can I? And to answer your question, I do plan on having more character deaths, but for obvious reasons, I can't really tell which ones. I'll take your recommendations into consideration, but I always felt that if a character's narrative function has been fulfilled, there's no incentive to kill them off. I feel like I should stop talking about it before I reveal too much.

arturkim05012003: Thank you!

YeTianshi: Funny you should mention that.

Halo 69 (Guest): What is a snacc?

Candrariski155: You know, I just watched the My Hero movie, and I really liked it! It hasn't sparked any ideas yet, but it's definitely something I want to look into. I just need to find a resident BNHA expert I can consult.

Teddy (Guest): I don't know who those characters are, but awesome!

Greer123: You're welcome!

a54321: I'm not good at wholesome, so I'm glad you thought it was!

artem-abramov-2004: I'm glad you liked it!

karmax992: Thanks!

808Joker808: I wasn't sure about the tone shift last chapter, but I think it's safe to say we're back to our regularly scheduled programming now!

WwEpsilonwW: Thank you, I appreciate your praise!

Kegila: And your review brought one to mine!

Halo 69 (Guest): You're not wrong!

Anyway, those are all the reviews for chapter 10, so I hope you all enjoy this update!

After bidding Velvet goodbye, Kaneki made his way to the shabby building he called home feeling more nauseous with each step. He knew that dinner was a bad idea yet he couldn't find it in him to deny Velvet's request. As soon as Kaneki made it inside, he arched in pain from the human food. He stumbled almost drunkenly to the bathroom and began to dry heave into the toilet.

Images of a dark haired girl in his exact situation flashed in his mind. She vigorously ate a pot of beef stew, her eyes black with red irises, visibly struggling to keep it down. "Touka," he mumbled to himself, gagging as the steak he had eaten made a reappearance. His breathing was ragged as he leaned back against the bathroom wall. He took his scroll out, slowly typing a message. He barely managed to hit send before he felt another wave coming up, forcing him to hunch forward again.

"Need Food? Why does he have to phrase it like that?" a disgusted Torchwick groaned. He quickly rattled off an affirmative reply and put his scroll away. He and Neo were heading towards Junior's club upon Neo's request. "I doubt we'll find anything any time soon. Hey Neo. Do you know of any murders we can sic Eyepatch on?"

Neo looked over to her partner in crime and gave a half-hearted shrug. She continued to walk on ahead, twirling her umbrella without a care in the world.

"Figures," he replied. "Eh, we can just get some info from Junior while we're there. Speaking of which, are you going to let me in on why we're heading over? I don't think he'll be too happy to see me again after I hired his men and they all got their ass kicked by Red."

Neo turned around and began to walk backwards, wearing an innocent smile as she shook her head. Her eyes switched colors a few times as she blinked before she turned around and began to walk again.

Torchwick rolled his eyes but followed closely behind. It didn't take them long to arrive at the club, however, to both of their surprise, there was much more security. The two criminals approached the door, the two bouncers letting them in as soon as they recognized them. Seeing that the club was rather empty from actual patrons, the two walked over without much concern for being seen. The large man behind the counter narrowed his eyes as his gaze met Torchwick's.

"What are you doing here?" Junior demanded, crossing his large arms over his chest. "You have a lot of nerve showing your face here."

"Is that any way of talking to a returning customer?" Roman replied, feigning hurt by his remark. He smirked at the club owner and took a cigar out from his coat. "I'll be honest, I just need a bit of info, then I'll be out of your hair. Sound good?"

Junior scowled and put his hands on the counter as he leaned forward. "Give me one good reason I should have my boys toss you and your little friend out right now?"

Torchwick shrugged and lit his cigar. "Well, this information is for a friend of hers," he replied, pointing to Neo. Junior raised an eyebrow as if unimpressed, until the image of Neo shattered. Before he could react, he felt a blade pressed against his neck. "To be honest, I wouldn't want to be on her bad side, so I guess you should get to talking."

All of Junior's men swarmed around the two in a matter of seconds, red blades at the ready. "Hold it," he ordered. "What do you two want to know?"

Torchwick took a deep drag from his cigar, clearly unfazed. "I'm sure you're aware of the Faunus Killer, right?" he asked casually. Juniors eyes widened at this. "Well, he and I have this agreement in place. I'm sure you're aware of his… eating habits, and well, he's asked me to find him somebody to have for dinner."

"I don't want anything to do with him!" Junior shouted, only to be silenced by Neo pressing the tip of her blade a bit deeper into his neck.

"That's the thing," Torchwick continued, "you don't really get a choice. See, he has a list of qualities he looks for and I have neither the desire, nor the resources to source his meals. So you give me a list of people making these qualifications." He tossed a notepad on the bartop. "The only thing we really need is names and addresses. Sound good?"

Junior grunted in agreement and called off his men. He didn't want to risk the Cannibal coming back, so having to deal with the arrogant asshole before him was a much better deal for him. "I'll get that information to you as soon as I can," he replied, his voice lacking all the confidence it had a moment ago.

"Oh, and my friend Neo here has some business of her own to attend to here, so make sure you make her happy," he added. He winked at Neo as he began to walk out. "I'll be waiting outside."

Neo gave him a mischievous smirk and waved as he left. Junior looked down at the short girl, confused. "What do you want?" he asked carefully. Neo sheathed her weapon, and took out her scroll, opening up a document with her list of demands. Junior took it and read them over. "You can't be serious."

Neo simply nodded, sitting on the bartop and crossing one leg over the other. She had no intention of leaving until he cooperated.

"You're insane," he told her. He looked down to the list again, shaking his head. He pinched the bridge of his nose, frustrated at being strong-armed. "I need to get better body guards…" He turned towards Neo who wore a smirk the entire time. As he narrowed his eyes at her, Neo opened her parasol and shattered. Junior whipped his head around to see where she reappeared, only to come face to face with Eyepatch, his black and red eye staring into his soul.

'Eyepatch' then began to silently laugh, Neo's disguise fading as she nearly fell over from Junior's reaction. Junior's hands trembled slightly from both anger and residual fear. He noticed that many of his men who had seen this were also in a bit of shock, clearly lacking the insight he possessed himself.

"Neo, was it?" he asked the short girl who was now recovering from laughter. She wiped away a nonexistent tear and nodded. "I'll get you what you're looking for, but it's going to take some time." Neo popped up to her feet, nodding at him, clearly pleased with herself. "Please… never do that again."

Neo shrugged noncommittally and placed a note on the table before turning around to leave. Junior sighed, tired. He picked up the note, which he assumed was Neo's number. He pocketed it, and looked over to his club. "Lock the doors, we're not opening tonight." He looked over to the bar's shelf and grabbed a bottle as he left towards his room. He took his scroll out to message the twins warning them to never be late again.

Velvet awoke the next morning with the biggest smile on her face. She had enjoyed her night out with her dear friend and she was still feeling over the moon about it. She sat up, moving her hair out of her face as she grabbed her scroll from her night stand. It was still very early, making her hesitate from messaging Kaneki again so soon. Still, she wanted to share her excitement with somebody so she decided to tell her mother about it.

Velvet made her way downstairs and headed towards the kitchen to make breakfast for herself and her mother. Not being a huge eater, she settled on eggs and toast. She kept thinking to the night before, the resulting grin threatening to split her face in two. Before long she began to hum contentedly as she cooked.

"Sounds like somebody had a good night," Marble said with a gentle smile. "I'm guessing bowling was the right choice?"

Velvet turned to her mother, a soft blush on her face but made no attempt to hide it. "It went amazing," replied the teen. "I thought it was going to be weird at first but it's so easy to just be myself around him."

Marble beamed as she walked over to make some coffee. "Why's that, did you kiss him?"

Velvet turned beet red and shook her head. Marble was surprised that her daughter didn't immediately deny it. "I don't think that last night was a date date," she explained, her ears drooping a bit as she thought about it. "I don't know how Ken feels about me but I don't want to pressure him either."

Marble nodded in understanding. She set the table, placed a mug of coffee on either side of the table and took a seat. "That makes sense," she continued. "It doesn't help that as sweet as Ken may be, he's not exactly emotionally available. Not that it's a bad thing," she added quickly, seeing Velvet look up at her. "I don't know what sort of life he's had, but it's clear as day that it hasn't been good."

"Yeah, you're not wrong," she said with a nod. She poked at her breakfast, her mind focused on her friend. "Mum, can I ask you something and you not embarrass me?"

"Of course sweetie," her mother agreed without hesitation. "What is it?"

"What do you think about Ken? Both the good and the bad?"

Marble became thoughtful, taking a sip from her mug. "Oh boy, where to start… Well, Ken's a good person, I'm sure you're aware of that. While you were off at Beacon, he went above and beyond to help me around the café. In fact, he insisted on taking all the night shifts so I could be home before dark because he was concerned about my safety. I was actually considering closing up, but he just knew how much this little shop means to me and really took over the first shift…" Marble's gaze met Velvet's and she sighed. "He's a bit distant though. I've tried time and time again to invite him over to dinner to thank him for all he's done but he seems to want to keep our relationship professional."

"Actually," Velvet interrupted, "I think I might have an idea as to why he does that."

"Oh, and why's that?" asked Marble.

"Last night when we were talking, he mentioned that he's been on his own for as long as he can remember, including before he met you. His mom passed away when he was really young, so I think he might just not know how to interact with a mother-figure… or father-figure, now that I think about it."

"I was afraid of that," Marble said, not surprised. "I had some suspicions, but it's clear that he never wanted to talk about that sort of stuff before. Although, I am a bit happy that he's opening up to you at least."

Velvet smiled sadly at her mother, taking her first bite from her now cold breakfast. "I was too, which is why I don't want to scare him away by reading too much into our friendship."

"You'll never know how he feels if you never go for it," she pointed out. "You know, it was actually sort of similar to how it was with your father and I. When we first met, I was head over heels for him and pursued a relationship with him. As you know, he would always prioritize his career over me, but I was too infatuated to really see that. After you were born, my perspective changed and I knew that he and I just weren't meant for each other." She looked at Velvet taking in this revelation and smiled softly at her. "But he did give me you, and I'll always have to thank him for that."

"So… what should I do about Ken?" asked Velvet.

Marble laughed as she realized the implications of what she had said. "I'm not saying that you two aren't compatible, just that you won't know until you try. Ken is a sweet boy, so I'm not really concerned with him hurting you… but you're also not the type to put yourself out there either, so just take it slow, alright? You're young, you have time to figure yourself out."

Velvet nodded, relieved. "Thanks mum."

"Anytime, sweetheart," she said with a warm smile. "Now, if you're going to ask me for names for my grandchildren, I'm more than happy to give a few suggestions."

"Mum!"

"I couldn't help myself," Marble laughed.

Kaneki sat in his small living room, sipping on some coffee to ease his stomach. It didn't do much, but the coffee itself was comforting. It was a bit past noon when he heard his scroll go off in the other room. As Kaneki got to his feet, he swayed a little but was quickly able to regain his balance. As he picked up his scroll he saw Torchwick had sent him a few files along with a message.

'I got you a list of potential meals in the files. Wasn't aware you already had a reputation down at Junior's, I would have dropped your name sooner.'

Kaneki opened the files, surprised to see a list spanning over twenty targets with detailed histories. Even more surprising, there were several humans included. Sighing tiredly, he began to read through their profiles. He wasn't planning on having to hunt so soon but after eating human food the night before, he knew he wouldn't be at his full capabilities if he waited too long. The sooner he was able to find sustenance, the better. Before he got too deep into any one target, he wondered if he should stick to Faunus targets for the time being or if he should have a few humans go missing. He recalled the M.O. assigned to the Cannibal and how they differed from the Faunus Killer. The news outlets had been quick to link the two together at first but after several police statements and the public criticizing the obvious difference, it has been widely accepted that they are two different people. There was the Faunus Killer and the Copycat Killer, the latter of which has no physical description. He would need to look into getting a second mask, on the off chance that he is seen while hunting for food, but there was no time for that now.

He narrowed down his choices to the one who was the closest to his previous victims, not wanting to expand the search area of the police. If he went after a human target, the police might intentionally switching his M.O. because they're getting closer to catching him, which could prove to be an effective red herring. However, if it backfired, they'll conclude that nobody was safe, meaning that overall panic was going to rise, which would lead to more Grimm attacks.

"Now you're thinking like a proper Ghoul," Yamori laughed. Kaneki looked up to see the Ghoul leaning against the wall with his arms crossed across from where he was sitting. "It's about time."

"How would you go about this?" Kaneki asked sarcastically.

"I'd just pick off whoever I wanted," he cackled. "You're even more of a freak of nature in this world, you've seen how little their weapons managed against our body. By the time they figured out how to do any meaningful damage, you could have consumed the entire neighborhood."

"I can't just move to a different ward like back in Japan," Kaneki scoffed, rolling his eyes. "I don't know why I bothered asking you."

Yamori straightened up and walked over to Kaneki, hovering over him menacingly, though Kaneki didn't bother acknowledging his empty threat. "You think a half-Ghoul like you knows better?" he asked rhetorically.

"If that's your best idea, I know that I do," he replied, turning back to his scroll. He could see from his periphery that Yamori was now walking directly in front of him.

"What you're doing is playing two different killers," the sadistic Ghoul said evenly. "From what the police reports and those brats from Beacon have found out is that the Cannibal only shows up about once a month, whereas the fake Faunus Killer strikes randomly. If the Doves of this world believe that you are two different killers, then you will need to make an example of another Faunus for the VPD to find in a few weeks. Until then, the Fake can strike whenever he wants but can't make a show of it."

Kaneki looked up, intrigued. "I know," he replied. "That doesn't help me in choosing my next target."

"Then don't choose one," he grinned. "You killed three before leaving the Kingdom. Kill four and take a body. The M.O. won't change, and the missing person's report will go unnoticed by the mass media."

Kaneki's eyes widened in surprise. "That can work," he agreed. He looked over to his freezer which could easily fit a body, so long as the target wasn't too big. "Then I need four targets…" he mumbled. "One of which will be human…" He decided to select from the Faunus randomly to disrupt any patterns the VPD might have been following, and picked the human located furthest from his home.

A dark bird flew around the city of Vale, eyes scanning the streets as night began to fall. It perched atop a building, looking for any distinguishing features that may give away its target, but nobody seemed to fit the description. The bird stretched its wings to take off, when it turned to see another bird perch next to it, seemingly coming from nowhere. Understanding what this meant, the first bird flew down to an alley, the second following closely behind.

"I don't have anything to give you," Qrow said, emerging from behind a stack of boxes in the alley.

"I'm sure that's not quite true," a woman wearing a white mask uttered. She took it off, revealing Qrow's twin sister, Raven. "I know Ozpin has filled you in on the new threat if you're here in Vale."

Qrow reached into his breast pocket and retrieved a flask. He shrugged noncommittal as he began to take a swig. "I'm not sure I know what you're talking about, Rae. Unless you know something."

"Don't play coy with me, Qrow," she snapped. She placed her helmet on the lid of a trash can and approached. "I saved Yang and her stupid little friends from that thing. I need to know what we're up against."

Qrow's sarcasm disappeared and became serious. "I'm aware of what you did," he replied. "But I know you didn't show up so I can thank you in person. What do you know about this thing?"

Raven narrowed her eyes, fully understanding Qrow's game. Knowing that she had less to offer, she conceded. "That thing looked as if Salem had created some sort of offspring and experimented on it." Raven grew silent as she pondered whether she should give up the last piece of information. "Qrow, it was able to speak."

"I've heard," he admitted, causing Raven to narrow her eyes even further. "Yeah, yeah, I know, it's weird, but Oz has a theory as to why he can talk, along with some other interesting things he's pointed out."

"What do you mean 'he'? Don't tell me Ozpin's convinced you it's human."

Qrow sighed in annoyance. "It's a working theory, but it's not without its merit. For one, the damn thing is working with Roman Torchwick. I don't know if you're aware of the Grimm attack that happened not too long ago, but it was wild. From what I've been told there was White Fang, Grimm, Torchwick and that thing as you like to refer to him."

"What would you have me refer to it as?" she asked sarcastically. "Faunus Killer?"

"Point taken," Qrow agreed. "Look, I'm not totally on board with the theory, but you asked me what I knew, and that's what I got to offer, alright? The thing–kid–Faunus Killer, whatever, he can think for himself, at least enough to make a deal with Torchwick."

"How do you even know that he's working for that two-bit criminal?"

Qrow rolled his eyes at his sister's impatience. "Well, he rescued him from one of Jimmy's ships after Torchwick was apprehended. Hell, from what Glynda said, the kid survived an explosion that blew a hole through several meters of concrete, took on a horde of Grimm himself, fought off four second year students and managed to fend off Glynda alongside getting torn apart by a Bullhead's minigun before breaking out the damn guy. Not to mention his ability to mutate at will."

"Mutate?" Raven asked. "You mean those red tentacles?" Qrow shook his head as he took out his scroll. He opened up some files that Ozpin had shared and kept from the news outlets that showed the Faunus Killer in his strange form. As Raven watched the footage, she was disgusted by how the creature formed extra limbs and grew them back after getting them cut off. "What plan do you have to kill him?"

"I can't tell you that," he said shortly, taking his scroll back. "Look, I told you what you came for, so unless you're here to visit your daughter for once, I think it'd be best if you got out of here."

Raven scowled, glaring daggers at her twin. "You're hiding something," she said to him. It wasn't an accusation, she simply stated a fact. "You're a fool. Beacon will fall, and this monster is only going to make Salem's job easier."

"Goodbye, Rae," he replied as he turned around and began walking away. He could hear her scoff and a portal of hers opening as he made his way out of the alley. He lifted his flask for another drink before pocketing it and wandering around the streets on foot.

Velvet walked towards the Vale Library, surprised at Coco's sudden request to talk to her. They hadn't spoken the day before, although it was obvious that there weren't many leads to chase. The Faunus girl had a suspicion of the purpose of the meet-up but was glad to report that Kaneki was willing to answer any question Coco may have directly. Velvet's conversation with her mother was also helpful in raising her spirits.

She made her way to the upper levels where Coco was sitting at a desk alone. She was scribbling something in her notebook, not noticing Velvet enter. "Hey, Coco," th Faunus greeted. "What's going on?"

Coco looked up, tilting her shades down to make direct eye contact. "Hey, Velvet. Not much is going on, but take a seat, I want to talk to you." Velvet nodded, taking her seat across from her leader. "I want to apologize for the other night back at your mom's café. It was wrong of me to put you in that position."

"Coco, I unders–"

"Let me finish," Coco interrupted. "Fox and I talked about it after you left and he made me realize that I was just blindly chasing after the only lead we had, even if it was clear that it wouldn't have provided much if any information… I don't want to sound like I'm making excuses, but you see, my mom has been up to her neck working on this case and I just want to help her. I know as Huntresses-in-training, we're not really equipped to do this sort of detective work, and with Ozpin telling us to leave this alone, we really shouldn't be investigating at all."

"Coco, I understand," Velvet repeated. "I've thought about this too, and I've discussed some stuff with my mum that's put things into perspective for me. You're doing the right thing, and I was trying to protect Ken because I really like him…" Velvet looked up to gauge Coco's reaction, but couldn't read anything. Her leader always had an excellent poker face. "Ken and I went out yesterday. We spent most of the day together, actually. At first, it was just me trying to get his mind off the whole thing from the night before, then I dragged him along to one thing then another, until we ended up having dinner together. It wasn't exactly romantic, but we did talk about our personal lives for the first time. His memories are still foggy, but he said that he'll answer whatever you want to ask him."

Coco's eyes widened slightly. She leaned back, crossing her arms and began to think her next words carefully. "So, that you mentioned I wanted to question him?"

"Yes," she replied. "I just wanted to ask that you don't have Fox or Yatsu poking around in his head. He's willing to talk to you, since you were the one who wanted to interrogate him."

"Did you want to be there when I questioned him?" Coco asked. To her surprise Velvet shook her head. "Really? Why's that?"

"I trust you," she replied simply. "I know my feelings for Ken have been messing with my judgement these last few days and I don't want to interfere. Ken is willing to show that he's got nothing to hide from you, so I don't need to be there."

Coco sighed as she looked at her friend. "You must really like him, huh?"

"I do," she confirmed. After her conversation with her mother, she no longer felt as reluctant talking about her feelings. "I'm still not exactly sure how far these feelings go, but I'm figuring it out."

"Well, if he's not against it, I'll ask him some things," she said, but not as satisfied as Velvet expected. "Just not now. Maybe down the line when we have a bit more information to go off. Like I said, Fox talked me out of it."

"Does that mean…" began Velvet.

Coco rolled her eyes playfully. "Yes, Velvet, I'll play nice now."

Velvet smiled and hugged her team leader across the table. "Thank you Coco. I know you're always just looking out for us, even when we're being difficult."

"Yeah, yeah," she said, lightly returning the hug. "So, since we're done talking about the doom and gloom… How'd your date go?"

Velvet immediately let go and leaned back in her chair. She still wore an embarrassed blush on her face but her excitement overcame such feelings as she began to recount the events of the prior day.

Kaneki wandered around the locations of his first target, fiddling with the mask in his hoodie. Much like his first hit, finding the target was the easier part of his task. This time, he was looking for a reptilian Faunus woman, known to have a gambling addiction. To no surprise, it only took him watching a few locations Torchwick had tipped him off before he found her.

"Look at all these playthings," Yamori whispered to Kaneki. "You could pick any one of these saps and it would be the same."

"I don't have time for you," Kaneki muttered, watching as the woman began to argue with a bouncer who kicked her out of a building. He figured that she must have lost everything for the night. He ignored the way Yamori was clearly struggling to control himself and focused on his mission. Kaneki snuck into an alley to put his mask on and pull his hood up before he began to tail the woman. Much like before, he kept his distance to not raise any suspicion. It was almost effortless to track her down, especially when she had no idea she was being tailed.

Before long, she walked into an apartment complex a few blocks away. Zipping the mask shut and walked into the building with his head down. Unlike before, this apartment didn't seem to have any keycard to lock the front door. He opted for the stairs, whereas the woman took the elevator. He figured it would buy him some time to allow her to let her guard down. When he finally did arrive at her floor, he purposely walked past her apartment until his nose alerted him to an empty apartment. He gripped the doorknob, easily breaking it with a simple twist, and walked in as if it was his own. He shut the door behind him, locking it with the chain, before taking in the apartment. It wasn't unoccupied, but the owner was not home. It was only about four doors down from the woman's, meaning he just had to bide his time for about a few minutes to allow her to fall asleep.

"This is bullshit," Yamori complained with a scowl. "We don't need to hide, we're strong enough to take what we want!"

Kaneki remained silent, not humoring the psychotic Ghoul. After the noise of televisions and talking had died down, he went to strike. Unlike his previous job, there was no fire escape adjacent to the mark's room, which meant he couldn't use the window as his entry point. Sighing, he made his way back into the hallway, stopping in front of the woman's door. Again, he broke the lock without much effort, and walked in. From what he could tell, the woman was in the shower, meaning the water masked the sound of the lock breaking. Kaneki shut the door behind him, wandering into the woman's bedroom. There weren't many places he could hide here, which meant he was forced to go underneath the bed.

Luckily, his thin frame made it easy for him to keep all parts hidden from view. Soon, the water was shut off, and the woman came out, grumbling to herself about losing all her money. "Bastards must have cheated," she ranted to herself. "There's no way he got a straight flush without some fuckery going on… Ugh."

She eventually got into her bed, angrily cursing the entire time. It wasn't until Kaneki could hear her snoring lightly that he slid out from under the bed and stood over her. She matched the physical description perfectly, but he had to make sure. He extended his Kagune, two tentacle-like extremities hovering over her face and body. With his hand, he pulled the sheets over a bit to expose her forearm, confirming her identity. She had several rows of tally mark tattoos counting her kills. His Kagune suddenly wrapped around her arms and body as well as her mouth and neck.

"HMM!" she tried to shout, her voice completely muffled. Her eyes were wide as she made eye contact with Kaneki. "HMM MRR!"

"I don't care what you have to say," he whispered to her, his voice cold. His Kagune began to squeeze tighter, forcing the air out of her. "You're trash. Scum like you doesn't deserve a quick death."

"That's right, Kaneki, make her suffer!" Yamori cheered. "Make her regret being born."

Kaneki could feel a grin forming as he watched the woman's life slowly leave her, becoming limp in his grip. Once she stopped moving, the Kagune around her neck squeezed until a sickening snap was heard.

"Let's kill some more!" Yamori said, his voice dripping with twisted delight.

"We only have two more targets," he replied, walking out of the apartment. He once again took the stairs to keep his face down until he made it outside the building. Once outside, Kaneki made his way to the nearest alley, intending to take his mask off to blend in with the regular folk but stopped short when he heard a gravelly voice call from behind him, following him into the alley.

"Hey kid," he said. "Been meanin' to talk to you."
