Song: I Should Be Sleeping by Emerson Drive
Pairing: TodoMomo
Warning- minor anime spoilers for season 5
He should be tired, exhausted really. Todoroki was back in school for the final semester of his first year and he was still conducting a work study at Endeavor's agency three days a week. His body was tired, but his mind was wide awake.
Shouto checked his alarm clock, 3AM. Ugh.
Maybe some soba and tv would help him sleep?
Todoroki took the elevator down to the now completely dark and unusually quiet common room and headed straight for the kitchen. He opened the fridge and luckily enough his soba noodles were still there!
He took the bowl, grabbed some chopsticks and headed for the couch. Yeah, he technically wasn't supposed to occupy the common room after curfew (Iida's words) but he just couldn't sleep. He grabbed the remote and flicked the tv on. After about 50 channels of infomercials camera he finally managed to find a movie. And a pretty good one at that. It looked like some classic American film and the more he watched, the more he liked it. The plot was simple, but interesting. He'd have to tell Yaoyourozu about it later.
And there was the root of his insomnia. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw her face. When he finally managed to sleep, he dreamt of her. Why was it always of her? He just can't figure this out, probably why he can't get any sleep. But he'd have to make an attempt to sleep, he had a shift with Endeavor after class today.
He headed back up to his room once he finished his soba, maybe he could catch a nap before his 6 AM alarm.

He never saw the fascination with pizza by his peers, but he was up late again and figured he might as well give it a try. Who knew he could have it delivered at 12 AM to the dorms?
Shouto had woken up from yet another dream of Yaoyourozu. This time she was in a white sundress, laughing while he chased her through a field of flowers.
He knew how the sound had come to haunt his dreams, Shouto had managed to make her laugh that day, though he had no idea how. It wasn't just a simple chuckle either, but a full on belly laugh and it was the most beautiful sound he had ever heard. He really wishes he remembered how he had done it, because he would really like to hear that sound again. Apparently his mind had decided to grant his wish.

The lack of sleep must be getting to him, he only narrowly dodged an oncoming truck on his walk to the agency today. He could ignore Bakugo's berating and insults, but the concern on Midoriya's face made it finally hit that he had a problem.
Shouto decided that after their shift he would talk this out with Midoriya. Maybe the muttering hero in training (3) would be able to help him find a solution.

"Midoriya? May I ask your advice?"
"Sure thing Todoroki! What's on your mind?"
'How do I explain this?'
"I've been having trouble sleeping." Ok, not the complete story but it's a start.
"Oh! I find that some warm milk or soft music usually helps! When I have a really tough time I go through my hero notes and-"
" no, I know why I'm not sleeping. I've had *ahem* someone on my mind, I just don't know what to do about it." Todoroki was quite pink by the end of this explanation.
"Oh! Well to start off, who is it? A family member? A villain, maybe-"
" It's Ponytail, you dumbass!" Bakugo apparently had not gone up to his dorm as Shouto had thought and had decided to make his presence known.
"Ponytail? Who- Yaoyourozu? Why would you-?"
"Isn't it obvious you idiot?! Icy hot has been drooling over Ponytail for months!"
"Kaachan! Shh! I'm sure this is something Todoroki doesn't want broadcasted. And when-?"
"I don't give a damn what he wants you damn nerd! And you," he turns and glares at Todoroki, " what kind of moron asks
this nerd for advice?! You know what, never mind. Grow a pair, don't grow a pair it makes no difference to me. I'm sick of this shit and I'm going to bed." And with that Bakugo stomps to the elevator.
After watching him walk off, Midoriya turns to his calmer, if not red in the face, friend.
"Sorry about that Todoroki. Now how can I help you? Actually it's probably better to tell me when it started."
"Which part?"
"Let's start with the sleeplessness. Though if you want to tell me the other part someday, I'll be glad to listen." Izuku shyly smiled at him. He was glad his friend seemed to find happiness, though he didn't know the whole story, he knew Todoroki hadn't had an easy life.
"I've been restless for the last few weeks, though more noticeably since we started working with Endeavor." Now that he thought about it, Shoto had been on edge since the incident with Natsuo.
"What do you think happened since then that is on your mind?"
"Natsuo," Shoto answers shortly.
"Your brother? Are you talking about the incident with the line guy?"
Shouto nodded. Sometimes he forgot just how well Midoriya knew him and how observant he was.
"Well, then maybe you're worried about Yaoyourozu?"
Shouto pondered this for a moment, "I admit that I have concern for her safety, being a hero does come with risks and dangers, I've accepted that and I don't believe that's what is troubling me."
Midoriya winced, "I hate to bring this up because I know it's a touchy subject, but what about Endeavor?"
Shouto went cold. "What about him?"
" I'm just taking a shot in the dark here, so don't get mad…" Midoriya waved his hands.
"I understand."
"Seeing the issues your brother and Endeavor have with their relationship and with what happened during and after the line villain incident, maybe you're worried about something that you need to say to Yaoyourozu that you haven't yet?"
Shouto pondered this for a moment, then nodded in the affirmative.
"Yes. I believe I know what it is. Thank you for your help Midoriya. I'll let you know how things turn out."
And with the closest thing Midoriya had ever seen to a smile on Todoroki's face, the latter took his leave and headed towards the elevators.
He headed up, up to her floor. Shouto knew it was late, and she would probably be sleeping, but he had to say his piece before he lost his nerve. Before he knew it Shoto was standing in front of her door, hand poised to knock.
'Do it. Do it now you coward.' Funny how the instigating voice in his head sounded eerily similar to Bakugo. But it was just the motivation he needed to knock on her door. After waiting a moment, the door cracked open and there was a Yaoyourozu.
"Todoroki? Is everything alright?" She asked with concern in her voice. Never before had he knocked on her door this late.
"I apologize for the late hour, but I just got back from my work study and there was some thing I needed to tell you and I wasn't sure it could wait until the morning."
"Of course! You never need worry about knockyon my door. How can I help you?"
For a moment his throat constricted and the words he so desperately wanted to say got stuck in his throat. It seemed she noticed this, so she waved him off, reassuring him to take his time. So like her, so kind, so considerate, so accommodating.
"I- I wanted to ask if you would be willing to accompany me to my favorite soba restaurant tomorrow after class?"
"Sure! Will Midoriya and Iida be joining us?"
"No, I was thinking maybe just the two of us?"
At this she blushed but then replied, quote that sounds lovely."
"Alright, meet you after class at the entrance gate?"
"Sure. I'll head there right after I speak with Iida about the next representative meeting."
"All right then, good night Yaoyourozu."
"Good night Todoroki." She returned to her room with the biggest smile on her face.
OK, so he hadn't told her everything, and as he walked to his room Shouto realized that it may still be a while before he gets a good nights sleep, but this was a good start.
