In preparation for the journey, Primus summoned the three ancient ships from the current universe to himself. The bots were amazed to see the large ships and had no idea that earth was not the only planet with one of the ancient battleships. But once the amazement wore off, the bots chose one to get a board and prepared themselves to cross into the other dimension to seek out the last key and possibly more help for their mission.
Once all was prepped and prepared, Optimus commanded his Autobot brethren to board and off they went, hoping to end this infernal war along with the insidious blackhole. And while many are focused on the mission at hand, a few have other things on their minds. Two of these bots are Jetfire and Landmine. They looked for Lancex as they had a question for him that only he could answer. And soon they found him, alone in a strange room on the battleship.
"May I help you?" Lancex asked, a bit confused as to why these two were seeking him out.
"We have a question for you that only you can answer" Landmine started with. Lancex nodded, but still showed confusion on his face. "You see, we both have strong feelings for a certain bot, but we don't want to pursue him without a blessing from his family."
"We want to pursue Optimus, do we have your blessing?" Jetfire blurted out, sick of the beating around the bush tactic that Landmine was using.
Now Lancex understood why they had approached him, and much like Optimus had been protective of Lancex, Lancex now understood somewhat where that instinct came from. "Why should I allow you to pursue him?" Lancex asked, challenging pair.
Jetfire was a bit caught off guard, but not Landmine. "I trained him long ago. He was a very engaged and easy to teach student. Because he had lost his father by that time, I took him under my wing. I thought originally I had only loved him as a father type figure, but as he has grown, I realized that that love was more. It was that long ago my spark longed for him, but he wasn't old enough at the time to pursue. Now that he is, I long to be with him" Landmine revealed. Lancex was stunned and it showed.
But then, Lancex turned to Jetfire, "and you?" Jetfire stuttered a bit before revealing his true feelings for Optimus. Lancex nodded. Both bots looked at each other, hoping Lancex would allow this. "I give you my blessing. I know what it is like to be denied your pursuit. I will not do the same to you. Go. All I ask is that you wait until we are done with this war" Lancex said. Both nodded and headed off.
Once the pair was gone, Lancex smiled, as he hoped that now that Optimus would be busy with those two, Lancex would have a bit more freedom in getting to know other bots, especially Scourge and Evac, but he would bide his time for now.
Or so he thought, for at that moment he saw Evac and Scourge approach. He wasn't sure what they wanted, but in his spark he was sure that this would be okay, and so he let them approach. He had no idea just what they had in mind for him.
