Mikoto Misaka headed straight to Kuroko's house. He pulled on a rope that had a bell tied to it, which served as Kuroko's doorbell. "Hey, Kuroko, it's Mikoto, zip on down here." Just as Mikoto finished his sentence, there was a blur of yellow, and suddenly Kuroko was standing next to Mikoto. He had a mud mask on his face and held a cup of coffee. Mikoto was surprised. "Oh. Hey, Kuroko's mom, can your son come out to play?" He asked sarcastically.
Kuroko zipped back up to his tree. A split second later he zipped down again, his coffee cup and face mask gone. "All of this, does not just happen on its own."
They walked to Ruiko's hut and knocked on the door. A second later they heard an explosion from within and saw smoke pour out of the windows. Ruiko opened the door wrapped in a towel, his feathers still smoking. He looked embarrassed. "Oh, hey. Just taking a shower."
"Ruiko, buddy, TMI," said Mikoto. "But we need to tell Kazari."
The three walked to Kazari's tree as Mikoto knocked on the door.
Kazari opened the door, and was surprised that it was her two friends and her cousin. "Hey guys, what a nice surprise."
"Hey, Kazari," Mikoto greeted. "But there's no time for chat, I have an idea. Come with me."
As Mikoto, Kuroko, Ruiko, and Kazari watched the cars setting up several mysterious construction sites all over student Village, Mikoto revealed his idea.
"Now, I'm telling you. Something isn't kosher with these cars. And it's up to us to figure it out."
"Figure what out exactly?" asked Kuroko.
"I don't know. Maybe they are just being innovative." As Ruiko watched many cars installing zip lines and nets in several trees, he started to get the feeling Mikoto was right. "It does seem a little odd though."
"Come on. Does none of this seem wrong to you guys?" Mikoto pointed the cars to his friends as Kuroko and Ruiko shook their heads, but Kazari responded otherwise.
"I don't know. I think I found them weird." Kazari said, observing every pig's moves. "I think they're planning something."
"I'll tell you this," said Mikoto emphatically. "If anyone knows what these cars are up to, it's Toma Kamijo." He pointed the might Eagle statue.
Kuroko, Ruiko, and Kazari's eyes widened when Mikoto mentioned Toma Kamijo, the legend and hero of Academy City. Every student knew all about Toma, and every student had nothing but awe and respect for the noble student. Secretly, Toma Kamijo was never been Kazari's idol, but she was inspiMikoto by him. In fact, he was been her inspiration.
"Does Toma Kamijo still live?" Ruiko asked in awe.
"Did he ever lived? And if he did live, where would he live?" Kuroko asked in pace.
"By the Lake of Wisdom in the ancient tree."
"It's a fairy tale. I've run all over this island, where could that possibly be?"
"Way up high." Mikoto pointed to the giant mountain that rose in the center of Academy City and smiled. It's a long up that mountain, and if I'm being honestly... Well. I mean, you know, I can kind of use your help."
Kuroko looked at Mikoto. Was he actually asking them for help?
"What's that? What are you trying to say?" He asked. He knew Mikoto was regretting his earlier behavior toward them, except for Kazari since she understood Mikoto completely and he has no problem with her, and Kuroko was savoring the moment.
"Nothing. I was just saying that I can… you know, I can use your help." Mikoto repeated
"Come on, Mikoto, don't fight it." Kazari snickered. "Can you say that one more time?"
"I need your help!" shouted Mikoto.
"Oh. Why didn't you say so? Ruiko? Kazari?"
Ruiko grabbed Kuroko as he and Kazari screamed excitingly. "Let's... do it!"
