So here he was, during a break in the onslaught of various tasks being handed to him, waiting for ice to melt just enough to fall away from this cliff.
He had done all his testing, sails were made and people had been trained to use them, Grimm exoskeleton was carved into ores, being one of the only things to not evaporate into smoke after death.
Something about being a byproduct of a parasite or something, but it wasn't exactly important to them past the usefulness of huge bones so he hadn't looked into it much.
Ooga had to do that to some of the information he sees, too much of a good thing is bad and he would be overloaded every day with massive headaches otherwise.
He hadn't even delved into the unseen world, closest being the medicine pointers, but that didn't require much more than a refrence to the survival guide.
He had sat here in his free time for a few days now, and he was starting to think it wouldn't happen.
Maybe...
He could force it to happen with some dust similar to that mountain avalanche.
It would take a lot of dust harvesting but they were already doing that for mid voyage ship repairs, needing to use ice dust to bulk up during the warmer waters.
It would be a race, having increasingly warmer waters the faster they travelled in what seemed like an impossible curve to surpass.
Hopefully the dust would be enough to push them past the natural laws.
Also...
They had received another blessing in the form of a semblance, they were pretty rare but not too much so, about one third of the tribe had one.
Ooga Booga did not have one yet.
But weirdly enough it was his dad that had unlocked his semblance in old age, it allowed him to manipulate objects from a distance.
He described it as an invisible arm with twenty fingers that changes size based on how much aura he pumps into it.
A little odd, but made sense for an increasingly immobile person.
Giving the order to take all the dust from caves instead of just the ice dust didn't get questioned, they knew he didn't ask for pointless tasks.
He also realised that if they could break the ice cliff artificially they could also just artificially increase the ship's size.
Can't be too big or they wouldn't move, but they could be comfortable and get more mileage out of her this way.
After getting back home there was surprisingly nothing waiting for his attention.
So he had ended up in the bath house, on the far side of the village that was built around the biggest spring they had.
Just as he dipped in and sighed in relief a knock at the door made him tilt his head over his shoulder and call out "Something wrong?"
Usually people looking for him was a bad sign, somebody was sick, something he built had broke down, or they needed his quick thinking for a Grimm raid.
It was none of those.
"Its me Tulgha, can I come in?"
Oh.
Ooga Booga was not prepared for this.
His thoughts raced as he thought of reasons why but it was pretty clear that she was making moves on the future cheif.
She was one of the oldest in his generation, but still young and beautiful relative to the other adults.
The sweet middle ground if you will...
But she wasn't a cat girl.
"Uh, almost done, give me a minute." The pause had been long and the response was weak to hide his avoidance, but he hoped she wouldn't take it as dislike.
She didn't respond and Ooga got one last dip under the water before grabbing his dry cloth and getting out.
He passed her by the door and gave her a small apology for the wait, they both knew the actual reason he said sorry though.
His quest for a catgirl wife was only trumped by the safety of the tribe, he could not afford to fail so early in his mission.
But explaining that now would go badly, people would question his motives thinking it was a weak one.
He needed to command all the respect possible, so things like that would have to wait until he could travel to the West side of Sanus by himself and feel confident in the tribes safety while he was gone.
They couldn't make the voyage all the way there, they would barely beach the northern tip of Sanus as is.
The trip would be made on land eventually.
Thinking Back, Ooga realised that Tulgha spoke pretty well there... She must have practised a lot, everyone knew he loved speaking.
Ugh... now he just felt so much worse.
He needed to make it up to her somehow, but that time would come eventually.
Now was the time for explosives.
It had been a week since then, and he felt they had enough dust to make the ship now.
They and dug into the ice in a familiar semi circle.
This time he didn't have to throw a spear to start the chain reaction, it was easier to get a semblance to wash over it.
Semblance were just extensions and byproduct of aura in the end, it was the single easiest and most reliable dust ignition possible.
A hunter by the name Funga had a semblance that spawned creatures he had killed in the past as beautiful white spirits.
They were perfect for the job.
He used a summon circle to spawn a young rabbit, a cheap construct that didn't cost him more than a few minutes of aura regeneration.
The nimble spirit sprung to action and leaped into a fast dive right down one of the deep dust holes they had dug.
All the bystanders like himself were very far back, careful not to get caught in the collapse to come.
Thankfully the strategic dust placement didn't malfunction and the cut was clean, the iceberg did break in two lopsided chunks but it was to be expected, no way it would be perfect.
Everyone cheered and was generally in a good mood after the fireworks and show of dust power, the spray of fire and lightning dust shooting up the holes being rather spectacular.
Now the hard part.
They needed to carve out living space.
Ideally one that could protect them from stormy rain and keep food stocks dry.
A/N; I may as well combat roll back into the writing scene and rebuild some hype again so here's another chapter.
Also, I am using different scene breaks because mobile can't have the old one in the middle, at least as far as I can tell.
