C12 Old rivals, eternal friends part 2
A battle was about to start as Albedo charged forward with ax in hand and Maple lazily readied her shield .
"Wait! Albedo stop! Stop I told you!"
The weapon stopped a millimeter from touching the shield as the Ainz's words crawled into
The air was tense, and worry seemed to fill the room until it exploded.
"Albedo, stop the hostilities against my ally right now!
"But Ainz-sama, she is…"
"Albedo!"
Albedo slowly lowered the ax as her heart began to calm down, it was then that she realized that she was disobeying Ainz; her face was filled with regret as she began to beg Ainz for forgiveness.
"Ainz -sama! I have failed you! I am unworthy to serve under whom can turn even his most ardent enemies to his side and it's my fault for getting carried away! Please take the life of this useless servant!"
"What? No!" Ainz exclaimed with a hint of confusion and concern in his voice.
Albedo knelt down and lowered her head in sorrow. "I had made another mistake assuming I deserve a merciful death at the hands of my lord!" The succubus sobbed. "I will take my own life so as not to dirty my lord's hands with my treacherous blood!" She exclaimed with tears in her eyes as she pressed the edge of her ax against her neck.
"Albedo stop! I forbid you from taking your own life for any reason..." Ainz scolded Albedo quite alarmed for the safety of the floor guardian while trying to convince her that he wasn't really angry at her attempt of killing Maple, in fact Ainz was more than sure that even if Albedo attack landed it would be unable to harm Maple; instead he was slightly afraid that Maple might accidentally hurt his friend's daughter.
As the whole situation unfolded in a slightly chaotic manner, Gazef stood next to Enri in the hut as he watched the whole situation with amusement and concern. If before it was not clear enough, now it was more than certain that he had lost his mind, what other explanation was there for death in person to visit this small hut in the middle of nowhere?, actually the dead were not visiting Gazef but Maple instead and even more surprising that the dead just casually visiting Maple was the animosity that they both shared between them.
Pointing his finger at Ainz and Albedo, Gazef questioned Enri about Ainz even though she was the other person who seemed to be in this place not quite knowing why and not daring to get close enough to Maple to die if an attack was launched at Maple:
"This may be an absurd question, but do you happen to know the guy who was talking to Maple and his companion?"
Enri seemed somewhat surprised at the knight captain who started a conversation with her, the man's wounds seemed to be already healed although the bandages covered his body smoothly, still bandaged Gazef had an imposing and protective demeanor while imposing some relaxation however he also reminded Enri of the soldiers who attacked her village not long ago.
After a light sigh Enri answered.
"These are Ainz Ooal Gown and Albedo, they saved me and my sister while we fled from the village when we were attacked" Enri looked at Maple who didn't seem to know what to do while Albedo acclaimed that 'if the punishment appointed by the supreme was exile and isolation for the unworthy, then Albedo would accept it." Gazef followed Enri's gaze and chuckled.
"I barely know Maple but everything around her is crazy, I almost feel like I've arrived in a different world."
After his comment, Ainz and Maple's gazes turned to him almost instantly forgetting for a moment what they were doing and focusing their deep eyes on the warrior captain. Although both of them were so different on so many levels, Gazef thought for a few moments that they were equally impressive with such curious looks on their faces... Or at least if based on Maple's face alone since Ainz lacked skin or muscles though the flames that shone in the sockets of his eyes conveyed the same sensation as Maple's bright eyes, so he had no doubt that if he had a face, the undead would be making exactly the same expression.
"What do you mean by that?" The undead asked expectantly.
Gazef felt a chill go up his spine. "I-it's just an expression."
Disappointed sighs left the mouths of both players despite the fact that one of them can't breathe and the other one had gain ability to avoid drowning so didn't had to breathe.
Ainz somewhat curious about the warrior captain Ainz took a step forward, his mention of another world made Ainz momentarily forget that Albedo was still kneeling in submission at his side, however Maple did not and tried to convince the succubus to stood up saying that Momonga was forgiving her, Albedo just gave her a glare before continuing to lower her head. The flames in Ainz's eyes danced their empty sockets as he looked at Gazef who stood at attention rather nervously in front of him.
Maple suddenly jumped as if she had forgotten something.
"Sorry sorry, I forgot to introduce you" Maple cleared her throat and pointed at Gazef. "He is Gazef, the captain of the royal guard of Re-Estice if I'm not mistaken, he is someone to whom I owe a lot and I would like them to get along."
Gazef offered his hand to Ainz. "Nice to meet you, Maple just It summed up a lot of who I am but she's not wrong."
Ainz made sure to deactivate his [Touch of Death] before shaking hands with Gazef.
"The pleasure is mine, my name is Ainz Ooal Gown and I am the leader of the great tomb of Nazarick and I find myself quite curious about the person to whom Maple seems strangely familiar." Ainz paused as he tightened his grip a bit more. "Maybe too familiar?" Ainz looked at Maple for a second "Would you mind telling me how old you are and what it's the legal age of marriage here? And don't try to lie to me cause I'm going to kill you if you try you luck."
Gazef was frankly both surprised and scared by the strong grip of the bony hand, although Ainz's expensive and detailed clothing made him look like a Magician, his strength was superior to his, he was also somewhat confused by the last part of the question, although before he could answer the question Maple put a finger to her cheek while making a small exclamation of surprise as if she had forgotten something.
"Actually he didn't said it bit he is my sworn enemy."
The greetings became a little tenser.
Great underground tomb of Nazarick.
The atmosphere inside the throne room was tense; the guardians were gathered waiting for the return of their lord, then a figure teleported in front of them. Albedo who had a defeated look a few moments before teleporting had appeared in the throne room, however there was nothing but triumph under Albedo's helmet at this moment. She caressed the ring of Ainz Ooal Gown that allowed her to teleport inside Nazarick that now rested on her ring finger, although this could not heal all her sorrows, it could undoubtedly give her the energy of three and a half suns in terms of motivation.
"Albedo, where is Ainz-sama?"
Albedo was forced out of her candy dream by Demiurge's deep voice asking about her lord's situation, her expression twisted into anger, then sadness, and finally a combination of both before sighing and finally calm down.
"Ainz convinced the knight of absolute obliteration to ally with him; both of them went to the Maple Tree guild base that was closest to the village to negotiate the details before coming to Nazarick."
Guardian reactions were mixed but all broadly negative.
Shalltear He had a complicated expression on his face as she yelled. "We can't leave Ainz alone against that thing!" Flashbacks of the second great invasion of Nazarick returned to her mind causing chills to run through her as the memory of being eaten alive and dying under human hands flashed before her eyes with pitifully clarity.
Cocyutos breathed heavily as he slammed his weapon against the ground. "That one. human . Dangerous. We. Must. Help. To the supreme." The insectoid samurai hit the floor again, anger seemed to overwhelm his mind at times as he remembered the situation in which he was defeated, 3 vs 1 without deigning to fight him head-on and based on his speed to decimate him before killing him He clearly remembered how on his deathbed Sally had joked about offering Maple a bug sundae.
Aura trembled slightly as a frown appeared on her face. "It's a trap! That human is setting a trap for Ainz! It doesn't matter that you should never enter the enemy's base! We must help him right now!"
Mare cringed as he trembled with fear; however he gripped his staff tightly in his hands. He still remembered the terror Maple instilled during his assault on Nazarick and the destruction it caused, but there were more loyalty on his littlie body than fear and his grip tighten even more while imaging Maple.
However, Demiurge's reaction was different. Although he seemed slightly surprised at the news, he quickly adjusted his glasses and a smile formed on his face. "So the girl I saw in the mirror is this knight of obliteration that has everyone so terrified, Ainz-sama is undoubtedly the most superior of all supreme beings to make such a threat submit to him."
Albedo looked at Demiurge doubtfully. "Demiurge, is there any reason behind your favoritism for this repulsive human?"
Demiurge smiled mischievously. "It's more than simple, our supreme lord is probably setting a trap for the enemy, during her last assault she proved that Nazarick's defenses were insufficient to defeat her and without all the Supremes with us the casualties in Nazarick if there were a battle would be horrendous. This is a test and an opportunity from our lord." Demiurge seemed to have caught the attention of all the floor guardians. "Our lord has agreed to an Alliance with the enemy, and is coming along with that one, the murderer of several of our members."
Still no one seemed to understand what Demirgue was saying but then Albedo seemed to realize something. "He want us to discover your weaknesses, right?"
Demiurge snapped his fingers. "Exactly, our enemy has proven that she is too strong to face her in direct combat, so Ainz-sama is giving us this opportunity to redeem our past mistakes as guardians by finding out the weaknesses of this human."
Shalltear opened her mouth in surprise. "How majestic can Ainz-sama be to glide so far and give us a chance to redeem our mistakes?"
Demirgue smiled deeper. "We must all be ready for the arrival of Ainz-sama and this dangerous 'plailler' (player)." Demirgue raised a hand in the air. "For Ainz Ooal Gown!"
"For Ainz Ooal Gown!" The shout rang throughout the throne room as the floor guardians cry the name of their lord.
