C13 Christmas part I

The sound of forest leaves dancing in the wind accompanied the sound of a door opening. Maple's merry footsteps filled Maple Tree's room, as she returned from her little adventure into the new world.

So much had happened since she left her precious guild (including finding out she was in another world) that it felt like forever since she last left the guild, her histories and companions felt so far away now, like being separated by a world of distance both literally and figuratively.

Maple lightly adjusted one of the chains that dangled from her as she sighed.

Behind her stood Ainz Ooal Gown, although his countenance did not indicate it due to his undead nature Ainz was nervous, was she just leaving him enter into her guild base like that? Maple Tree's base on the other hand was small, infinitely smaller than the great underground tomb of Nazarick, apparently Maple and her friend had gotten it after an event in their first months of play and had never upgraded it since.

The defenses of this tree were nothing more and nothing less than Maple in person, or rather her reputation. For some reason there had never been an attack on the guild base, Ainz Ooal Gown never saw value in attacking the base of such a low level and since everyone was confident that Maple would not die all the treasures of Maple Tree were kept inside his inventory so unless you could get a hand inside Maple's inventory you would never be able to steal any treasure from her guild.

Even so, the undead felt somewhat uncomfortable entering the guild together with Maple, they were enemies for a long time but Maple seemed to have no problem inviting him into her guild.

Maple walked with a cheerful and somewhat excited step.

'It's Momonga's first time; I have to clean up the room a bit, what a thrill, Nazarick is a very varied large guild I hope he's not to disappointed…' Maple muttered under her breath as she walked on. She quickly arranged the guild table and settled slightly on one of the seats, Ainz sat on the other side of the table facing Maple.

Ainz looked into Maple's excited eyes and looked around the guild hall, "So… Is there a reason for the Christmas decorations?"

Maple looked around for a moment and ran at full speed (so comically slow speed) towards the perfectly decorated Christmas tree before putting it back in her inventory, but after three seconds she pulled it out again and put it back with a sigh.

"Actually we left him here since last Christmas."

Suddenly Maple's face flushed red with embarrassment. "Right, I also have a present from that Christmas." Maple looked at Ainz for a second and suddenly her curiosity filled her. "Momonga-san to all this... do you also have a reward for the Christmas event?"

Ainz put a hand to his chin questioning where did the question came from, at that moment she took out of her inventory the mask of envy given by the developers to those players who spent Christmas online in the game. "Are you talking about this? What does it have to do with the alliance? "

Maple recognized the mask but shook her head, so from her inventory she pulled out a reindeer outfit and a red nose. "I'm talking about this, I was a little curious if you had something like this, they delivered it at the end of a Christmas event and you know, we were close to Christmas so I came up with the idea of organizing a Christmas party to celebrate the alliance."

Ainz scratched his head lightly. "We were a little close to Christmas before coming to this world but right now we are in summer and I don't think they celebrate Christmas in this world"

Maple smiled tenderly "So, did you have a Santa suit? Seeing my rival in a red suit would sure be cool! "

Ainz cleared his throat. "The stats of the Christmas outfit are insufficient; there is no reason to use it..." Ainz then looked into Maple's shining eyes and sighed. "Why are we talking about Christmas again? Didn't we want to talk about the terms of our Alliance? "

Maple waved her hand slightly "I don't think it's a big problem, aren't we friends? "

Ainz fixed her eyes on Maple who was playing with the red-nosed reindeer. "I don't remember us ever having friendly conversations... "

Maple ducked her head. "Do you still resent me for trying to hunt you down?" Maple made a concerned face and began to bow apologetically. "I'm so sorry about that! I thought you were some kind of final boss of the game or something. "

Ainz sneered slightly. "And you weren't a final boss of the game? If I'm not mistaken, you have that draconic armor and that world item that allows you…"

Before Ainz finished his sentence, Maple quickly changed from her black armor to the reindeer suit. "I'm not a final boss! I am a reindeer! Moo, wait do reindeer go moo? Moooo, I don't know what noise reindeer make! "

Ainz looked at Maple for a second and sighed. "Anyway, I have two demands for this alliance, the first is that under no circumstances harm my friends' children and the second is that you help me find more players around the world."

Maple's red nose jumped in front of Ainz and she looked up in thought for a second. "So… My condition is that we be partners instead of rivals, it would also be nice to know if Sally is in this world, and I also want to spend Christmas with you! Didn't that sounds nice?"

Ainz sighed slightly and extended her skeletal hand; Maple extended her hand in response and shook Ainz's bony hand. "I can't wait to see you dressed as a Santa!"

Ainz's expressionless skull didn't waver for even a second before he replied: "Never." Ainz hadn't honed the Supreme Overlord image to throw it away with a pointy hat and reddish coat.

Maple pouted. "Hey, you said you'd spend Christmas with me!"

And Ainz exclaimed. "However, I never mentioned anything about wearing a ridiculous outfit.

Maple looked offended. "Apologize to my reindeer outfit for calling it ridiculous!"

Ainz looked at Maple and gave a light laugh. "To your reindeer outfit?"

Maple pouted. "Apologize or else…" Suddenly a chill ran down Ainz's spine. "…Atrocity."

Ainz made a stupid little noise. "Huh? But…"

Maple stepped forward and stood imposingly in front of Ainz, dressed in a reindeer outfit and feeling much smaller than the Overlord Maple stood pouting with her hands folded across her chest. "Atrocity" She repeated dryly.

Ainz waved his hands from side to side a little flustered. "No, no, wait, we just made an alliance, we can't…"

Maple stepped forward and reached out her hand placing her finger on Ainz's sternum in a threatening manner. "Santa or Atrocity, decide…" Maple had state her ultimatum.

Author's note

Hey! Sorry for disappearing for almost a month, a lot of things happened recently in my life and in the end it was difficult to start writing again but seeing that the new season of Bofuri was about to start filled me with motivation again, I wanted to get this out at Christmas but a relative got sick with Covid and I had to spend Christmas taking care of her, it was not the happiest Christmas in the world but I am not complaining, it was in fact the first time that I was making Christmas food in person so that the food would not be contaminated with the virus and it was fun, I also got a little more interested in bakery. Apart from that, when I had time to write, I read some other fanfic instead so I am somewhat to blame for the delay as well.

Leaving that aside, the first part of the chapter felt a bit awkward but I have a lot of fun thinking about the interactions between Ainz and Maple, I also remembered a Christmas image of Ainz that made me laugh and couldn't just let it go. Anyway I'm going to continue with the story but I have a hard time because I started another fanfic this time about Harry Potter x Youjo Senki and each chapter is at least 4 times longer than this so that's a thorn in the ass XD.
