CHAPTER 14
KAI'S POV:
The lines of the song were the only thing distracting me while I rode to the lake. I glanced at the cockpit and wondered what consequences the pilot would face for helping me escape. He has no idea that I am running away. He didn't even know where he has to take me once my business at the lake was over. Even I didn't know. All I knew was that I had to defeat Tyson today. The tournament was pointless from the beginning, my return to the abbey was pointless, and my feelings for Tala were pointless, in fact, my entire life just felt like a joke to me. Maybe I knew myself Better now. Over the days when I was recovering, I regained parts of my memories. The memories I made in the abbey were still fuzzy, but I remembered my life before it.
The way my mom agreed to let the people do experiments on me even before I was born, stung. I can't blame her though, my grandfather was being a lot more than pressing. This was supposed to be a secret between them, my dad was never supposed to find out, but things went completely wrong. I was the first and only child they had tried to experiment on while still in the fetal stage. The results made me completely different. Such a thing couldn't be hidden from my dad. With my birth, my family went from being less than perfect, to completely chaotic. My dad already had a history of mental health issues. The betrayal seemed to have put a final touch on it. Whether he meant it or not, he killed my mom. That night, three lives were supposed to end, but one of them cheated fate. I managed to survive. My grandfather found me in the secluded house, hiding in the living room, trying to ignore the stench of my dead parents' bodies. He took me in immediately because he knew what I was capable of. I was a creation of the Abbey, the only child who had been born perfectly linked with another bit beast. Neither he nor Boris expected me to unite with the real Dranzer. I was supposed to be Black Dranzer's, but somehow, The real Dranzer chose me.
Looking at the snow-covered landscape beneath me, I wondered what would happen if I died today. The whispers in my head would finally fall silent. Was there a life beyond death? I smiled a little thinking of how my dad would react if he knew that I had escaped. I was still alive, so he might be disappointed. but... He did succeed that night. He managed to kill a part of me.
I silently laughed at my train of dramatic thoughts. This wasn't completely a waste. I found out about the abbey and somehow, A miserable redhead managed to help me make some pleasant memories [ wait Ivanov and pleasant? I'm truly losing my shit.] WOW. Just one thought of him and my headache was back. I spent the rest of the journey sleeping. I woke up when we reached the lake. I was slightly surprised to see that the Bladebreakers had reached on time. If Tyson had shown half this punctuality during our tournaments, I could have saved a lot of time and chilies. [YES, CHILLIES, no explanation required]. As if this unusual punctuality wasn't evidence enough, I could see a strange glint in my opponent's eyes. Without wasting time, we launched our blades.

Bryan's POV:
The entire Abbey was being turned upside down to search for Kai. Surprising no one who knew him, Kai had escaped, again. The only surprise was people's reaction, or lack of it. Boris looked unnaturally calm, while Tala acted as if he'd received a kiss from Kai. Our team captain was really something. He kept joking about Kai's cowardice and mocking Boris's failure. To us, he was being his usual laid-back self, but that didn't stop him from slave-driving the younger bladers and pushing them to find Kai. Tala was a great actor, But behind those azure eyes, I could sense that he was suffering. Seeing him sad made me realize how much Kai had meant to this team, since the very beginning. I hadn't met the infamous traitor who tried running away with black Dranzer and nearly burnt everyone in the abbey alive when I first came to this place. I and Ian were new members, and throughout our training, we used to hear our fellow newbies gossip about a mystery blader. Their tone would seethe with hatred, and being part of that group, I started despising the unknown bladder. But once I was skimmed from the common bladers and made an official member of the demolition boys, The stories I heard about this blader changed completely. The older and experienced bladers had the fortune of being with that guy when he was still in the abbey. They were captivated by his beauty and flabbergasted by his Beybladeing skills. To them, he was not a traitor or thief, since they had formed their opinions on him through personal interactions and not the manipulated words of the abbey workers and owners. There were rumors that Tala was the only blader who knew him intimately, so naturally, we drowned him with questions. But Tala wouldn't even say his name aloud.
Finally, when Kai returned to the Abbey, his arrogant behavior made everyone instantly dislike him. To top it off, he was an intimidating person, and his existence alone challenged us. He was perfect in every possible way, But Tala still disagrees with this. No one said it, but The change in mood of the team when Kai joined was evident. It seemed like we had come closer, and it annoyed me that a stranger had this effect on the Demolition Boys. That's part of the reason I hated Kai. His presence was strange, still, whenever Tala spoke about him, it made me feel like we had known him forever. I guess that's exactly why Tala has an amusing character. We can never predict what goes on in his and Kai's mind. I looked around and noticed that I was back in the hallway where I had first seen The Demolition boys.
"Search for him in the old closed lab in the west wing."
Tala's voice echoed. He was instructing a blader. soon he made his way into the vacant corridor and walked past me as if I didn't exist.
"You are distracting them, arent you?"
"Yes," he replied.
"Do you think they will find him?"
"No. Not till he wants to be found"
He walked into the common room and banged the door shut. The sound rattled in the corridor. Even though I couldn't see his face, I was sure that there was a sense of pride in his last response.

Kai's POV
As my body began to shut down, my movements became slower, and my thoughts became more disjointed. I could feel myself sinking into the water and everything began to fade away. I vaguely remembered hearing the ice crack. In my last moments, There was nothing left but the cold, dark water enveloping me. Suddenly a speck of light appeared in the darkness. It was a little boy. Soon he was accompanied by different characters, many of whom I recognized, but the others felt like strangers. The more I stared at their faces, the new emotions and long-buried memories began to resurface. In your last moments, your entire life flashes in front of you. Was this it? I didn't bother to answer that question. my mind was quenching its thirst by greedily taking in every detail of my lost memories. Some of the memories made me wish that they hadn't been remembered, but none of it mattered now. I was too exhausted to fight back. Just as this thought formed in my mind, I heard a shrill cry. Dranzer. How could I forget her? I tried apologizing, but it felt like she was pushing the gloom away. She was doing what she always did when I was younger. Replacing darkness with light, planting hopes even in the face of despair, giving me an urge to live, when I had lost every desire to do that. She wasn't like Black Dranzer. She doesn't fight battles for me, instead, she gives me the strength to fight and instead of taking control of me she allows me to develop my power. Right now she was filling my mind with pleasant memories, and I had to suppress a smile when I saw the images. Some of them were of my days with my mom and dad, some of the time spent with the Bladebreakers, but the most bittersweet ones were those of Tala. Now I remembered him clearly and knew every conversation we had as kids. I could hear his voice calling me, then it transformed into Tyson's voice. A mixture of Max, Ray, and Kenny's voices joined the chorus. I felt a hand grab mine and pull me out of the icy water. As soon as I surfaced, I was engulfed by the entire team. Everyone seemed to have forgotten how I treated the. They were hugging me and when I looked up, They had an expression of utter joy. I wasn't a fan of physical contact, yet I couldn't help but feel happy. The boys looked like they had been reunited with a long-lost friend. I realized that that was exactly what happened now. I was smiling.

Mr. Dickenson finally left. The party was delightful [except for the part where Tyson and Max came up with the brilliant idea of 'daring' Kenny to apply the cream on my face. Kenny got so terrified of me that he ended up stumbling and falling on the cake]
"I'll send u brain cells, Ty" Kenny commented.
"Did you know that in theory, a person with complete organ failure could be given a new and functional body while keeping their personality, memories, and consciousness through such a procedure? Neurosurgeon Robert J. White has grafted the head of a monkey onto the headless body of another monkey. So the future looks bright for Tyson." Dizzy's mechanical voice chimed in.
"HE DID WHAT?!" Tyson looked disgusted.
"Kenny, why did you give him brain cells if you planned to fry them this fast?" Max laughed.
"Lights out," Ray said in a stern voice to prevent a rebuke from happening. I'm thankful for his insight. Without that this team would have burnt the hotel down when I was away. The three younger members pouted and jumped onto their beds. Max was decent enough to move the empty cola bottle from the bed before laying on it. Ray quickly turned off the lights and within a few seconds, we could hear the others snoring. He picked up the bottle that Max had discarded and sighed, "Kai, you have no idea how hard these days have been for us. I'm glad that you are back. I was fed up with playing captain. It's useless. Even if I got to order them, they still expected me to clean." he let out a small laugh. "Anyway, sleep. You deserve good rest." with that both of us went to bed.
Around 12:45 at night I woke up. I glanced at the sleeping boys and made sure that the path was clear. I took Dranzer and Black Dranzer with me and silently slipped out of the window and made my way to the Abbey.
Wanna know what Kai is gonna do in the abbey? My vacation has started and I finally have time to update. I won't promise a quick update since I'm lazy.
