The fated duel between Izuku and Shoto has finally arrived.
"Begin!" Present Mic exclaimed.
Shoto immediately sent out a wave of ice at Izuku in fast speed. But Izuku activated One For All on his middle finger at full power and flicked it to create a powerful shockwave, shattering large waves of ice instantly and sending an icy breeze around the audience and the students. Shoto then created a shield of ice behind him that prevented him from being blown out of bounds.
"Wow! Midoriya managed to break Todoroki's insane opening move!" Present Mic announced.
He has no idea how powerful the ice was going to be, so he abandoned restraint and fired off a shot at 100%. It was probably the only thing he could do against the ice barrage. But... All Might commented as he clenched his fists.
Shoto then released another shard of ice at Izuku, who flicked another finger that destroyed it. The impact of that attack caused Shoto to brace himself against the shockwave.
"He countered again!" Present Mic announced.
Shoto released a powerful barrage of ice waves at Izuku, who flicked another one of his fingers to counter his opponent's attack. As Shoto continued his assault, Izuku kept flicked his finger to destroy the ice wave. The more ice waves Shoto kept unleashing, the worse Izuku had to force himself to break all of his fingers on his right hand.
Oh no. In this rate, Midoriya won't be able to have the advantage! Luna thought.
Shoto attacked Izuku with his onslaught of ice shards. Izuku once again countered the ice shard with a smash from his broken fingers. But Shoto withstand the aftershock of the smash by using an ice blockade.
That's all the fingers on his left hand. Luna thought in shock. He still has his thumb, but he can't flick it without his other fingers.
With Izuku's right hand broken, Shoto took the opportunity to create an icy pathway. He began rushing toward Izuku to strike the distance between them.
"Todoroki has avoided Midoriya power and is now rushing his classmate!" Present Mic announced.
Izuku then switched to his broken hand into a fist and delivered another smash to break the ice steps apart, but Shoto swiftly jumped and avoided the shockwave of the smash. He then landed an ice punch at Izuku, causing him to dodge out of the way. However, the ice sprouted upwards that nearly froze Izuku's leg while he was in mid-air at close range.
Izuku then curled his entire left arm into a clenched fist and punched forward, charging up a Detroit Smash that released a shockwave so strong that destroyed the ice with a huge gust of wind. This time, Shoto was pushed back this time along with his ice shards.
"Oh damn" Diana said in amazement.
"Wow that really clever." Selene said.
Luna worriedly knew that Izuku had sacrificed his left arm for that powerful punch. Now, Izuku's left arm was now broken and covered in ice shards.
"Oh my God! Well, that was probably the only thing he could possibly do to keep fighting." Kirishima said.
Shoto recovered from Izuku's powerful punch.
"That was much more powerful than any of your previous attacks. You're trying to keep me away, smart." Shoto noted.
Some viewing pro heroes even commented that Shoto is already stronger than the average pro hero. Especially since he's the son of number two hero Endeavor.
Izuku was gritting his teeth in pain.
"What's the matter? Are you really that worn out from countering my attacks?" Shoto questioned.
Izuku doesn't respond. Instead, he noticed that Shoto is shuddering when he saw the icy frost building up on the right side of his body. He wasn't the only one. Aisha noticed that too.
He's shaking. Is he reaching some kind of limit? Aisha pondered.
"I'm sorry about this, but thanks for drawing it out." Shoto apologized. He looked up at his father, who was glaring at him with an irritating face. "Look at him. He's furious that I'm not using his Quirk." He looked back to notice that Izuku has no healthy fingers left. "With your hands like that, you can't fight anymore, can you? Why don't we end this?"
Shoto launched a huge shard of ice towards Izuku.
"Wow! Todoroki continues his overwhelming attacks! Could this be his finishing move?" Present Mic announced.
All Might and Luna watched the fight in concern.
"I am not done yet!" Izuku declared with determined eyes.
Shoto was taken back by Izuku's determination.
Izuku fired another Delaware Smash and shattered the ice.
The audiences looked shocked, as the powerful wind was strong enough to nearly push Shoto out of bounds.
"Damn it, with your broken finger?" Shoto asked as he looked at Izuku's dark purple fingers. "Why are you going this far?"
"You're trembling, Todoroki." Izuku said.
Shoto looked shocked.
"It's easy to forget that quirks are physical abilities." Izuku said. "And so, there's a limit to the cold your body can take, right? I get it. You'd usually make up for it by using the heat from your left side, but you refused to do that now. Listen, we're all giving it our all, to try and win, to make your dreams into a reality, to become number one. You think you can beat me with half your strength? Look at me, Todoroki. You haven't been able to put a single scratch on me yet." He clenched his fist with utter determination. "So come at me with all you've got!"
Hearing Izuku's demanding words made Shoto very agitated.
"Midoriya, what do you think you're doing? You want my fire? What, did my monster of a dad bribe you or something? Now I'm mad!" Todoroki yelled angrily.
Shoto rushed towards Izuku, but this time he was running in a slower pace.
Aisha quickly detected Shoto's mobility and stamina are descending lowly when she saw more icy frost forming on his body.
Shoto's slower now. He might have wasted all his energy after his match with Sero. Aisha thought.
As Shoto was closing in on Izuku, he lifted his right foot to release another ice-based wave. But Izuku took the opportunity to channel One For All through his fist and delivered a strong punch at Shoto's torso, sending him flying away.
"He landed a hit on Todoroki! Even though Midoriya looks way more beat up at this point! I can't believe he went on the offensive there!" Present Mic said.
Shoto recovered and got back up. He then unleashed a weaker wave of ice at Izuku, which Izuku himself was able to destroy it with a blast of wind pressure from his One For All fist that knocked Shoto back.
Shoto and Izuku then rushed and moved on to close-quarter combat.
"Should I step in, Midnight? Midoriya knows that Recovery Girl will heal his wounds after the fight, so he's being reckless and hurting himself." Cementoss urged as he looked over at Midnight. "He's full of adrenaline. He probably doesn't even realize how much pain he's in. Those injuries are bad. They probably can't be healed in one go. At this rate, he might end up with permanent damage. Even if he wins, he might not be able to fight in his next match. He's sacrificing himself. Self-sacrifice is the most noble action one can take."
As Izuku dashed at Shoto, Shoto attempted to freeze him with every icy wave he unleashed. Despite having bruised fingers, Izuku pulled back his thumb with his cheek and flicked it to release another wind-based smash to blast Shoto away.
"Why are you putting yourself through this?" Todoroki asked.
"I want to live up to people's expectations. I want to be able to smile. I wanna be a pro! That's why I'll give it my all! Just like you should be!" Midoriya yelled as he charged towards Shoto.
Izuku then headbutted Shoto.
"There's no way I can know what you've gone through, or why you're even here, but for now, stop screwing around!" Izuku challenged. "If you wanna reject your father, fine, but you don't have the right to be number one if you aren't going to use your full power!"
Icy frost began covering more of Shoto's body.
Izuku punched Shoto again with another One For All smash.
"I will surpass you!" Izuku declared.
"I will reject you. I refuse to use my left side." Todoroki muttered.
"It's yours! Your Quirk, not his!" Midoriya screamed.
Shoto gasped in utter surprise.
Aisha noticed that Shoto's surprising expression must've invoked long forgotten memories, just like how she did during her match with Luna previously.
I know that feeling, Shoto. Aisha thought. Do it. Unleash it.
In that instant, Shoto's entire left side ignited on fire and suddenly triggered a bursting display of blazing flames. The whole arena looked astounded by Shoto's flaming Quirk. Except for Aisha, who was slowly mesmerized by the flames.
"He's using his fire!" Uraraka said in surprise.
"Incredible." Iida said as he remembered what Todoroki said about his left side.
You made him use his father's power. Midoriya, don't tell me you were trying to save young Todoroki this whole time. All Might thought in recognition.
So, Midoriya was saving Todoroki from rejecting not only half his power but half of himself. Luna acknowledged.
The icy frost melted from Shoto's right side as his flames started to decrease from his left side.
Thank you, Midoriya. For helping Shoto. Aisha thought with a smile. Her smile grew softly when she caught Shoto smiling genuinely from the platform. Even though you want to win, you freed Shoto from his repression.
Aisha even caught Izuku smiling at Shoto's flaming power, knowing that the boys are now ready to win with one hundred percent of their Quirks.
Ecstatic, Endeavor smiled from the stands.
"Yes, Shoto!" Endeavor shouted proudly in excitement. He began to walk down closer to the match. "Have you finally accepted your purpose? That's it! Very good! This is the dawn of a new era for us! With my blood in your veins, you'll surpass me! You will live up to the reason I created you!"
"Endeavor suddenly shouts words of encouragement? What a doting father." Present Mic said with uncertainty.
With the battle reaching its climax, Izuku charging his One For All power through his legs and Shoto charged his blazing flames through his left hand in preparation for one final clash with very determined faces.
"That's it, Midnight! One of them could be killed!" Cementoss yelled as he touched the cement in front of him from his seat.
"His body won't hold up!" Midnight yelled as she tore part of her sleeve and released violet sleep-inducing aroma from the skin of her arm.
But Midnight's Quirk wasn't strong enough to prevent Izuku and Shoto pressing forward with their Quirk attacks. Shoto released a larger wave of ice at Izuku. But Izuku immediately jumped above the icy wave and launched towards Shoto, preparing a full power smash in his vigorous arm at extreme speed. Shoto counterattacked with a powerful fire blast.
A large wall of cement produced between Izuku and Shoto, creating an unexpected explosion from Izuku's wind pressured punch and Shoto's streaming fire. That massive explosion destroyed the entire fighting ring into large chuck of pieces.
Everyone watched the explosion in pure disbelief.
"Holy crap balls!" Mineta yelled.
"This is crazy!" Kaminari yelled.
Cementoss recovered as he stared at the heavy smoke.
"Having a great power doesn't mean you'll be a great hero, but these two are amazing." Cementoss commented.
"Geez! I can't see a thing! Is the match still going on or what, huh?!" Present Mic asked.
As the smoke started to clear, Shoto was still standing with half his uniform destroyed from his flames. But as for Izuku, he is revealed to be unconscious and out of bounds outside the ring.
Everyone is taken back by the battle's outcome.
"Midoriya is…out of bounds! Todoroki wins! He advances to the third round!" Midnight announced.
Shoto continued staring at an unconscious Izuku in surprise.
