Ch35 - You Bested Me Pt1

We then sat down, Killian moved so he could lean against the arm of the couch; I then situated myself between his legs, I smiled softly as I felt his arms go around my waist...

I leaned back slightly, tilting my head; so it was leaning against his shoulder, I closed my eyes and that's when my thoughts drifted to the first time I met Killian, and how I knew that he was lying about who he really was.

I mean that was during the time that I was still adjusting to the fact that my parents were Snow White and Prince Charming, so the minute that he told me who he was; I was slightly skeptical, because Captain Hook was a cartoon character.

Turns out he was very real, that's when a soft giggle slipped from my lips; I tried to stifle it, when Killian spoke. Curiosity colouring his tone, as he did.

"What's so funny Swan?"

My eyes opened, and I smiled softly; I cleared my throat, before speaking.

"I, uh... I was just thinking about the first day we met; and how I knew that you weren't telling the truth"

He laughed slightly, before replying.

"Ah yes, when I pretended to be a blacksmith; only to be called out for lying, having a knife held to my throat, being tied to a tree, and being offered up to the ogres...But I was right about one thing love, you bested me that day...I can still count the number of people who have done that on one hand"

He laughed softly, and I giggled; remembering that day, I regained my composure before speaking.

"I suppose you still find that funny?"

He laughed again, before he leaned down; whispering in my ear.

"No I'm being quite serious..." He stopped speaking, I then heard as he took a breath, before continuing. "Would you like to recreate that day, my love?"

I grinned, before turning round to face him; curiosity evident in my tone, as I spoke.

"You want me to hold a knife to your throat and tie you to a tree again? Why?"

He smirked at me, before answering.

"Well my love, you impressed me that day; you seen right through my ruse, and right away I knew that you were a tough lass. Not even an encounter with Captain Hook, deterred you from your mission to get home to your boy..."

He paused slightly, smiling at me; before speaking again.

"So love, are you up for the challenge of recreating the day we met?"

I eyed him skeptically, remembering our conversation during our climb up the beanstalk. I grinned, before speaking.

"Bring it on Captain..."

He smirked again, before speaking.

"Very well then Swan, I'll just run upstairs and grab my satchel; I'll be back shortly"

I smiled, before grabbing my jacket; the very same one I wore that day, I then found the pocket knife. I figured that I could use my magic to conjure up some rope, and our outfits from that day.

I sat back down on the couch, and waited patiently for Killian to rejoin me. My phone could also come in handy, for recreating the ogre sounds.

Once he descended the stairs, I noticed he was hookless; he must have placed it in his satchel already. We then left, and headed in the direction of the forest. All that was left was to fine the perfect spot, with a similar tree; we reached the edge of the forest.

I glanced at Killian, he smiled at me. We walked for a few minutes, before I spotted the perfect tree; I turned and grinned at Killian. We just happened to come across a spot, with two tree stumps; and a tree that kind of resembled the one in the enchanted forest.

I smiled internally, before speaking.

"I think this is the perfect spot, don't you?"

He nodded in agreement, before dropping his satchel to the ground; he then turned around, and smiled at me. He took a breath, before speaking.

"Yes love, it is..." His gaze drifted to my clothes, before he glanced at himself. He spoke again..."Our clothes however are a different story"

I grinned, before using my magic; to change our clothes, into the outfits we wore that day. I heard Killian laugh, as he glanced down at his clothes. I even managed to conjure up the scarf he wore around his neck.

I smiled softly, before lifting his satchel; and placing it across my body, kind of how my mom had back in the enchanted forest.

I grinned, before speaking.

"Ok, so do you want to start from the moment I held the knife against your throat? Or go straight to tying you to the tree?"

He smiled, before he spoke.

"Accuracy is important Swan, so we should start from the beginning"

I nodded, before gesturing for him to sit down on a fallen log; which happened to be beside the tree stump. I then conjured up a cup of water, placed it in front of him; I smiled internally, before speaking.

"You ready?"

He nodded, before he spoke; in the same tone that he used back then.

"I can't thank you enough for your kindness, fortune; it seems, has seen fit to show me favour"

I schooled my features, before speaking.

"An island full of corpses, and you're the only one to escape; how exactly did that happen?"

He glanced at me, using the same expression as that day; he then spoke.

"She attacked at night, slaughtered everyone in one fell swoop; when she started ripping out people's hearts, I hid under the bodies of those who had already been killed. Pretended to be dead myself, mercifully the ruse worked"

I spoke again.

"So much for fortune, favouring the brave"

He spoke again, fear evident in his tone.

"It was all I could do, to survive"

I narrowed my eyes, pretending that my superpower had kicked in; and that I detected his lie. I then spoke again.

"I'm gonna let you in on a little secret, I'm pretty good at knowing when someone is lying to me"

He spoke again.

"I'm telling the truth"

I smiled, before pausing slightly; he spoke again.

"I know this land well, I can guide you..."

That's when then pulled out my knife, grabbing his head with one hand and the other poised with the knife pressed against his throat. I spoke, again.

"You're not going to guide us anywhere, not until you tell me who you are"

He flinched, that's when I dragged him over to the tree; before conjuring up some rope, I took a breath before tying him to the tree. That's when he spoke.

"I already told you, I'm just a blacksmith..."

I smirked, before replying.

"Sure you are..." before whistling.

I then hit play on my phone and he jumped slightly; as growling noises came out of my phone. A grin formed on my lips, I schooled my features; then spoke again.

"You won't talk to us, maybe you'll talk to the ogres as they rip you limb from limb"

The growling continued, as turned slightly to walk away; before he spoke again.

"You can't leave me here, like this..."

Narrowing my eyes again, I turned back quickly; staring at him, I then spoke.

"Sure I can..."

I turned to walk away again, just like I had done that day. He raised his voice slightly, before speaking again.

"Good for you, you bested me; I can count the amount of people who've done that on one hand..."

I smirked, before stepping closer to him; I glanced at him, before speaking.

"That's supposed to be funny?...Who are you?"

He looked at me, before using the same words that he used that day.

"Killian Jones, but most people have taken to calling me by my more colourful moniker; Hook..."

I tried my best to look skeptical, before I spoke again.

"As in Captain Hook?"

He looked at me, with the same expression he used before.

"Ah, so you've heard of me?" He paused again, this time uttering the words he spoke to my mom..."If you don't believe me, check my satchel"

I looked at him, pretending to be unsure of his identity; the growling noises still emanating from my phone. I lifted it slightly, before opening it; and gasped slightly, the same way my mom had done as I stared at his hook.

The growling coming from my phone, intensified; I looked at him again, before I spoke.

"You better hurry up and unless you want to be dinner; you better start talking"

He glanced at me, before speaking.

"Cora wanted me to gain your trust, so that I could learn everything there is to know about your Storybrooke. She didn't want any surprises, when she finally got over there..."

I spoke, this time using my moms words; changing them slightly.

"She can't get there, I destroyed the wardrobe..."

He spoke.

"Ah yes, but the enchantment remains; Cora gathered the ashes, she's going to use them to open up a portal...Now if you'd kindly cut me loose..."

I interrupted him, remembering what Mulan said; I then spoke.

"No I should just leave you here to die, so that you can pay for all the lives you took..."

He spoke again.

"No, that was Cora; not me..."

I turned to leave again, I got a couple of feet away; when he spoke again, frustration clear in his tone just as it was back then.

"Wait...Wait...Wait, you need me alive..."

I turned back, before speaking again; mild irritation in my tone as I did.

"Why?"

He stared at me, before speaking again.

"Because we both want the same thing, to get back to your land"

I moved closer, getting into his face; before speaking. Changing my words slightly.

"Why should I believe you?"

He shrugged as best as he could, before speaking.

"I'd arranged for transport with Cora, but seeing how resourceful you are; I'll offer you the same deal. I'll help you, if you promise to take me along with you..."

I spoke again, using the same words my mom did; and in a similar tone of voice too.

"How are you going to help me?"

He spoke.

"The ashes will open a portal to your land, she needs more; there's an enchanted compass, Cora seeks it. I'll help you obtain it, before she does..."

I spoke again.

"So Cora, won't make it back to Storybrooke...and I'll be one step closer to getting home...sounds too good to be true"

He glanced at me, before speaking again.

"There's only one way to find out..."

I looked at him again, stepping even closer to him; I stared at him, and that's when I uttered the same words I used before.

"You tell me one thing, and whatever you say; I better believe it, why does Captain Hook want to go to Storybrooke?"

He spoke.

"To exact revenge on the man who took my hand...Rumplestilkskin"

My eyes widened, in realisation; he smirked at me, before gesturing to the rope that was keeping tied to the tree. I stepped closer, taking a breath before untying him; once he was free, I bound his wrists together.

Just like the last time, only this time there would be no beanstalk; but it wouldn't stop us from having the same conversation, even with slightly different wording than before...
