Chapter 02: It Begins Part 2: Origins Stories
It was around nightfall in the country side, everyone regrouped at the end of the woods as the five newly christened, and probably traumatized, Guardians sat on the ground to try find some kind of comfort while Jackie, Uncle, Jade, and Tohru talked about what they just saw while the new "people" were on the other side and trying to figure out what was happening.
"What exactly did we see?" Asked Tohru.
"He was about as tall as Jackie, brown hair, brown jacket." Said Jade as she described.
"But I'm more paying attention as to what grabbed him, it was like some kind of man-snake!" Yelled Sokka, finally saying something to this group they suddenly got involved in.
"Here, uh he looked like this." Said Hay Lin as she showed them the drawing of the snake-man she made and to avoid the new awkwardness with these new people.
"Huh, good drawing." Said Jade as it actually seemed pretty detailed.
Uncle recognized the creature.
"Lord Cedric." Said Uncle as he remembered seeing this creature several times back in the younger days.
"Lord?" Asked Jackie.
"Does that mean he serves this Phobos character?" Asked Jackie.
Who's Phobos? Asked Leo, Raph, Donnie, Mikey, Aang, Sokka, Katara and Toph in their heads.
"Yes, perhaps even as Phobos' right hand." Replied Uncle.
"Though he is not always in that form." Said Uncle.
"I-I'm sorry." Said Will as she stuttered.
"It all happened so fast I didn't." Said Will.
Jade put a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"You can't blame on what happened, it could have happened to any of us." Said Jade.
Jackie smiled over how mature Jade has been lately.
"I don't, I blame her!" Yelled Cornelia as she pointed to Will.
"She totally blew it!" Yelled Cornelia.
"Or what about them, they weren't exactly helpful back there!" Yelled Cornelia as she pointed to Team Avatar and the Ninja Turtles.
Both Team Avatar and Ninja Turtles glared at her, not liking how she accused people.
"Hey, I didn't see you trying to help!" Yelled Jade as she glared at Cornelia.
"At least Will or those guys did something, what did you do to help besides screaming and crying like a little baby!" Yelled Irma as she defended Will also.
"Oh, you two do not wanna go there!" Yelled Cornelia.
"What are you gonna do?" Asked Jade.
"Get me all dirty?" Asked Jade as they both locked eyes with each other.
"That is enough!" Yelled Jackie, getting all the girls' attention.
"No one is to blame for what happened, we were all taken by surprise and getting into an argument won't change what happened." Said Jackie firmly.
This seemed to calm all of them down, though Jade and Cornelia continued to glare at each other.
Will still seemed a bit upset, but Jackie still put a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"We will figure this out." Said Jackie.
"You are not alone in this." Said Jackie.
"That is right." Said Uncle.
"We only have each other right now." Said Uncle.
"A new evil has risen and for some reason, we have to what appears to be allies, and if we are to prevail, we must stand together, for we are all that stands between our worlds and a future filled with darkness." Said Uncle.
"Gee no pressure or anything." Said Irma.
"Welcome to our world." Said both Aang and Leo.
The guradians and the Chan Clan sat across Team Avatar and the Ninja Turtles, making a circle of sorts.
"Alright since we're stuck here, we might as well get to know each other." Said Jackie.
"Let's start off with...you four." Said Jackie as trying not to sound rude towards the Ninja Turtles.
"My name is Leonardo." Said Leo as he began.
"These are my brothers, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael." Said Leo.
Jade, meanwhile was talking to Team Avatar.
"So…who are you guys exactly?" Asked Katara.
"I'm Jade Chan and this is my Uncle Jackie, and his Uncle, Gāo Chuàn Chan, the big guy's called Tohru." Said Jade, trying to show their not enemies.
"Nice to meet you all." Said Aang with a smile.
"My name is Aang and these are my friends Katara, her brother Sokka, and Toph." Said Aang.
"Sup." Said Toph with a wave.
"Might as well get ours out of the way." Said Will as she and the other four guardians stood up.
"I'm Will Vandom." Said Will with a wave.
"Irma Lair." Said Irma.
"Taranee Cook." Said Taranee with a timid smile.
"Cornelia Hale." Said Cornelia as she brushed her hair to the side.
"Hay Lin." Said Hay Lin with a smile and she waved.
"Okay, introduction's out of the way then." Said Jackie.
"What are you anyway?" Asked Jackie in confusion.
"We're actually…mutants." Said Donnie.
The earned curious looks from everyone present.
"What's a mutant?" Asked Katara as she never heard a name like that.
"Well…a mutant is a creature, human or animal, that undergoes a drastic and unusual physical change, such as growing extra limbs, a tail, wings, stuff like that." Said Donnie as he tried to explain as simply as he can.
"Come on, that kind of thing is impossible." Said Sokka as he dismissed.
"Yeah this coming from a guy whose friends could control elements." Said Jade as she remembered the fight from Cedric.
Toph and Raph smirked at this.
I'm startin' to like this girl. Thought both Toph and Raph.
"Yeah but that's Bending, that's totally normal." Said Sokka with a wave of his hand.
"What's Bending?" Asked Will, earning looks of shock from Team Avatar.
"Okay, how can you not know what Bending is?" Asked Toph.
"Yeah, those five girls used them before." Said Aang.
"Yeah, next thing you tell us is that you never heard of the Avatar before." Said Sokka.
"Uh…" Said everyone.
They all grimaced as they saw earning a jaw drop from Sokka.
"You've never heard of the Avatar?!" Asked Katara in demand.
"No, not really." Replied Leo.
"What is an Avatar, exactly?" Asked Irma.
"An avatar is a physical manifestation of a deity in a mortal form." Replied Uncle.
"No, that's not an Avatar." Said Sokka.
"Hold on." Said Aang.
"How can you not know about these things?" Asked Aang as they were common things in their world.
Everyone looked to each other a bit before Jackie sighed.
"This may come as a bit of a shock to all of you, are actually in a different world." Said Jackie.
Everyone, even Toph, could only look with wide-eyed shock at that statement.
"A different world?" Asked both Aang and Katara as they breathed at the same time.
"No way, that's impossible!" Yelled Sokka.
"There are only two worlds: This world and the Spirit World!" Yelled Sokka in denial.
"They're telling the truth." Said Toph.
Jade gave off a confused look.
"How can you know that?" Asked Jade.
But before it could be answered, Aang had interrupted.
"What do you mean we're in a different world?" Asked Aang asked.
"You and the turtles must have have traveled to a different world via the Nexus." Said Uncle as his eyes widened.
"What's a Nexus?" Asked Jade.
"A Nexus is an energy conduit, think like a bridge that connects all the worlds together like the Veil." Replied Uncle as he began to explain.
"Like branches on a tree, very few people can find them, let alone use them." Said Uncle.
"That's amazing!" Yelled Jade in amazement.
"So that means there are more worlds out there." Said Jade.
"Yeah, that is pretty cool." Said Hay Lin in agreement.
"So what's your story exactly?" Asked Jade, looking at the turtles.
"If you guys are 'mutants' how are you like this…?" Asked Jackie in an attempt not hurt their feelings.
"Are there more of you?" Asked Jade bluntly.
"Only a few." Replied Donatello.
"Mutants aren't a common sight where we're from." Said Donnie.
"Yeah, usually anyone who sees us has the same reaction as anyone else." Said Raph, twirling his sai.
"Basically monsters." Said Raph.
"You guys don't seem like monsters." Said Aang.
"Yeah, monsters are evil, and you don't seem evil compared to that snake guy." Said Hay Lin.
"Thanks for the complement, kid." Said Raph.
"So what is your story?" Asked Jade again.
The Turtles all looked each other before sighing.
"It's a long story, so listen carefully." Said Leo as he began to tell their tale.
"It starts off with a stray rat in the city of New York, the rat saw a boy with a glass jar with four pet baby turtles." Said Leo.
"There was an accident, a blind man was crossing the street and almost run down by a large truck." Said Leo.
"Truck?" Asked Toph, not knowing what that is.
"A vehicle." Replied Tohru.
"Anyway." Said Leo as he continued.
"As the truck swerved, a metal canister bounced out of the back." Said Leo.
"The boy accidentally dropped the jar and the turtles inside, both the turtles and the canister fell into the sewers of the city, when the canister smashed open it released glowing ooze, which covered the turtles." Said Leo.
"The rat saw this and gathered the turtles, while also getting covered in the ooze to." Said Leo.
"The next day, the turtles and the rat grew to enormous size, while also increasing their own intelligence." Said Leo.
"Those turtles became us." Said Leo.
"So this…magic ooze turned four normal turtles into…mutant turtles?" Asked Sokka as he trying to find the right words for it.
Uncle gave off a scoff.
"Not magic, science." Said Uncle.
"Uncle spent years under magic and has never heard a a chi spell capable of transforming creatures." Said Uncle.
"You're a wizard?" Asked Aang as his eyes widened.
"And a damn good one, he was able to banished demons out of earth." Said Jade with a smirk.
Sokka scoffed.
"Right, i'm the youngest the grou-OW!" Yelled Sokka as Uncle delivered his usual finger slap.
"Did, did you just slap me?" Asked Sokka.
"Do not disrespect Uncle!" Yelled Uncle.
"Trust me, he does not go easy on anyone." Said Corelia as she rubbed her head where Uncle slapped her two times.
"So, what about the rat?" Asked Aang, wanting to get the story back on track.
"The rat also mutated, like us, he could now walk and talk like a normal person." Said Leo.
"The rat's name is Splinter and he took us in." Said Leo.
"You could say he's our adoptive father." Said Leo.
"You were raised by a rat?" Asked Jackie.
"That rat happens to be the best guy you'll ever meet, pal." Said Raph rather harshly.
Jade let out a scoff.
"Please, Uncle Jackie's the best martial artist in the world, this Splinter would barley make a challenge." Said Jade as she and Raph glared at each other.
"Okay then." Said Aang as he interrupted, trying to prevent an argument.
"So you guys live in a sewer?" Asked Taranee as she shivered at the thought.
"We kinda have to." Replied Leo.
"We find people treat us better when they don't know we exist." Said Leo.
"Mutants aren't a common sight in our world, or any world apparently." Said Donnie.
"We usually get called aliens, monsters, stuff like that." Said Mikey.
"But why would people treat you guys like that?" Asked Katara.
"Because we're different." Replied Leo.
"People are afraid of what they don't understand, and that fear can sometimes turn into hatred." Said Leo.
"I'm sorry." Said Katara with sympathy evident in her voice.
"Well it's only because people didn't take the time to get to know you guys better." Said Aang.
"I'm pretty sure if they did, you'd all get along real well." Said Will.
"Some people know about us and are good friends, others… not so much." Said Donnie, thinking about The Foot and Bishop.
"I still got a question." Said Jade.
"If you guys are from different worlds, how'd you get to ours, or here for that matter." Said Jade.
"Well like we said, it was from the Nexus." Replied Leo.
"One of our enemies was trying to use it for himself, we tried to stop him, and we ended up here." Said Leo.
"Which could explain on how we got here." Said Aang, clicking the pieces together.
"There was a bright light that came to us, next thing we knew, we ended up in that world before coming here." Said Sokka, explaing.
"So who is this enemy of yours?" Asked Jade.
The Turtles all grimaced a bit at that.
"That's a story for another time." Replied Leo, really not wanting to talk about him unless they absolutely need to.
"So that's their story." Said Jade, turning to Team Avatar.
"What's yours, and what with this Bending and Avatar stuff?" Asked Jade.
Katara then reached into her pack and pulled out a map.
"Well our world is divided into four different nations: the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Air Nomads, and the Fire Nation." Said Katara as she showed their world map.
"Your nations are associated with the elements?" Asked Jackie.
"But why?" Asked Jackie, still confused.
"Well it's because of our bending." Replied Katara as she began to explain.
"Bending is like a form of martial art, many people in our world have special chi that allows them to control one of the elements." Said Katata.
"I'm a Water Bender." Said Katara as she motioned her arms to control the water.
"Whoa." Said Irma in shock, seeing someone with a power of her own.
"I'm an Air Bender." Said Aang.
"So I can control the air." Said Aaang as he formed is Air-Scooter and began to move around in circles around the group, earning looks of surprise from all of them.
"Awesome!" Yelled Hay Lin with a large smile.
"You think that's cool…" Said Toph as she stood up.
"Check this out." Said Toph as she made a stance and thrusted her arm forward, which created a large earth pillar under Sokka, sending him flying into the air, screaming like a girl before landing hard on his butt.
"Let me guess…" Said Raph with a cocked smile.
"Earth Bending?" Asked Raph.
"Yep." Replied Toph as she sat to the ground.
"I think I like this kid." Said Raph.
"Of course you would." Said Mikey.
"So Sokka, was it, are you a bender?" Asked Jade.
"Unfortunately, I'm not." Replied Sokka.
"But I am good with a boomerang." Said Sokka with a smile as he showed off his trusty boomerang.
"A boomerang?" Asked Jade with eyelids lowered.
"Meh." Said Raph as he shrugged his shoulders.
"What do you mean by 'meh'?!" Asked Sokka in outrage.
"Boomerang has never once failed me!" Yelled Sokka.
"That thing ain't a weapon, it's a toy." Said Raph as he corrected Sokka.
"He's got you there." Said Jade with a smirk.
"I hate you both." Said Sokka comically before Katara pulled him away.
"Sorry about that, he's very…" Said Katara as she attempted to apologize.
"I get it, I got my own." Replied Raph, gesturing to a certain orange-clad turtle.
"So do we." Said Irma, pointing to Cornelia.
"Hey!" Yelled both Mikey and Cornelia in annoyance.
"So, what about Fire Benders?" Asked Taranee in curiosity.
"Those guys are pure evil!" Yelled Sokka in anger, earning looks of surprise from the others.
"Sokka come on, they're not all bad, we've seen a few good Fire Benders." Said Aang.
Sokka crossed his arms as he turned away.
"Something we should know about?" Asked Will, just as confused as the others.
"You see our world is sort of at war." Replied Aang.
"Hey same with us." Said Jade in surprise, noticing the coincidence.
"How long has the war been going on for?" Asked Leo.
"About a hundred years now." Replied Aang.
"A HUNDRED YEARS?!" Yelled everyone at the same time.
"No war has ever gone over a hundred years, how is that even possible?!" Yelled Taranee.
"Well you see, long ago…The Four Nations lived together in harmony, but that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked." Said Katara.
"Their leader, the Fire Lord, is trying to conquer the world and the only one who can stop him is the Avatar, the master of all four elements." Said Katara.
"This Avatar-guy sounds pretty cool." Said Mikey with a smile.
"Almost like a super hero, so who is he?" Asked Mikey.
"Hang on, what makes you think it's even a he?" Asked Irma with annoyance.
"He's technically right, i'm the Avatar." Replied Aang.
Everyone looked quite surprised at him to say the least.
"You." Said Raph to which Aang nodded.
"You're the Avatar." Said Raph again.
Aang nodded again.
"How old are you, nine?" Asked Jackie as he looked a little young.
"I'm actually twelve." Replied Aang.
"Huh, same as us." Said Jade, motioning her thumb between her and the guardians.
"A twelve year old kid is the master of the elements?" Asked Raph.
"Yeah, I don't see it." Said Raph as he shook his head.
"This coming from a teenage talking turtle?" Asked Taranee in a comeback.
"Touché." Said Raph.
"Okay, so what exactly is the Avatar?" Asked Leo.
"The Avatar is basically the guardian of the whole world." Replied Katara.
"He's charged with maintaining peace." Said Katata.
"And they leave it to some kid?" Asked Irma.
"Well actually the Avatar isn't just Aang." Replied Katara.
"Whenever the Avatar dies, he is reincarnated into another person." Said Katara.
"First it's an Air Bender, then a Water Bender, then an Earth Bender, then a Fire Bender, and back to Air." Said Katara.
"A reincarnation cycle." Tohru observed.
"So you can bend all the elements?" Asked Hay Lin to Aang.
"Well not yet." Replied Aang.
"I mean I'm already good with Air, Katara and Toph here are teaching me Water and Earth." Said Aang, pointing towards the duo.
"What about Fire?" Asked Raph.
"We're still working on that part." Replied Sokka.
"Yeah it's kinda hard to do when there's a whole country of Fire Benders who hate us." Toph pointed out.
"And we're on a bit of a tight schedule to." Said Sokka.
"How do you mean?" Asked Jackie now in greater confusion.
"Well every One Hundred Years, there's a comet that comes, and it gives the Fire Benders unbelievable power." Said Aang, much to the shock of the others.
"It's supposed to arrive by the end of the Summer in our world and when it does, the Fire Nation will have all the power they need to win the war." Said Aang.
"So some comet that comes every century makes them more powerful?" Asked Taranee, trying to figure out how this works.
"Well it can't be any weirder then us having a magic crystal to turns us into faires." Will pointed out.
"True." Said Taranee, nodding in agreement.
"They already used that power before, a hundred years ago, to start the war…by killing out my people." Said Aang as he looked down.
Everyone was surprised at that statement.
"Your own people?!" Asked Leo in shock.
"My predecessor, Avatar Roku died over a hundred years ago, and I was next incarnation." Said Aang.
"The Fire Nation didn't want me to stand in their way so they… knowing I was the next Avatar I…" Said Aang as he couldn't bring himself to finish as tears were forming and Katara pulled him into a hug.
Each of the group had their own look of sympathy towards Aang.
"Dude…that's deep." Said Irma in sadness.
"I am really sorry." Said Jackie.
Raph in particular was quite angry.
"If I see that Fire Lord guy, I'm gonna pound him so deep in the ground he's gonna think he's a fossil!" Yelled Raph.
Toph gave a small smirk at that.
"Forgive me if i sound unsympathetic or anything." Said Donnie, getting their attention.
"But if that was a hundred years ago, how are you still…?" Asked Donnie, feeling like his question was starting to get insensitive.
"Twelve?" Asked Aang as he finished.
He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
"Well I was kinda frozen for a hundred years." Said Aang with a small chuckle of nervousness.
Everybody had, once again, found themselves quite surprised.
"YOU WERE FROZEN FOR A WHOLE CENTURY!?" Everyone yelled.
"Yeah." Replied Aang.
"At this point, nothing else will surprise me ever again." Said Raph, giving up at this point.
"What about you guys?" Asked Toph, pointing towards the Chan family and the guardians.
"Basically me and my family are Kung Fu fighters who fought demons and collecting artifacts from around the world." Said Jade, giving a crude description of what their adventures are like.
"Why would you be collecting artifacts from around the world?" Asked Donnie in confusion.
"When this first started, we were just collecting talismans but that all changed when we met a demon called Shendu." Said Jackie.
"Shendu?" Asked Aang.
"A demon who has existed for thousands of years, he ruled over Ancient China before he was imprisoned in stone for nine hundred years." Said Uncle.
"NINE HUNDRED YEARS?!" Yelled everyone.
"Yes, now do not interrupt Uncle or do you not want to hear the story?" Snapped Uncle with his hands on his waist.
When nobody answered, Uncle continued.
"Shendu needed the twelve talismans that was separated from his body to enter his stone body in order to become flesh again." Said Uncle.
"An evil organization attempted to gain all twelve talismans in order to free him and they succeeded." Said Tohru to which he looked away in regret.
Jade put a hand on his arm in comfort.
"When Shendu was freed, he attempted to rule the world by destroying humanity as revenge for those who turned him to stone." Said Uncle.
This shocked the group, with the exception of the Chan Clan.
"Wait you're serious, he actually attempted to destroy humanity?!" Yelled Aang in shock, not knowing anyone that evil.
"Yeah, but he was beaten 'cause all the talismans were removed from his body." Said Jade with a smirk on her face.
"Which would have been okay if a certain someone..." Said Uncle, eyeing Jade who looked away in nervousness.
"Didn't destroy Shendu and caused an imbalance." Said Uncle.
"Wait hold on, you destroyed an ancient powerful demon?" Asked Raph, pointing to Jade.
Jade rubbed the back of her head in awkwardness.
"I'll admit, it wasn't my proudest moment but i wanted to to make sure he didn't hurt my family again so i kinda blasted him to pieces with one of his own Talismans." Said Jade as she looked away.
"Wow, okay now that's impressive." Said Toph as she crossed her arms with a smile on her face.
"But what did you mean by Imbalance?" Asked Sokka in confusion.
"Many things are reserved for balance such as good and evil or Yin and Yang as some of you are aware, when Jade destroyed Shendu, she caused a void in the balance that had to be filled for a new stronger evil." Said Uncle with a grim look on his face.
"And for a while it was Shendu's siblings." Said Tohru.
"Shendu returned to Earth and took over a body of a mortal to obtain an artifact called the Pan'Ku Box and used as both map and key to the Demon Portals and freed his siblings, one by one." Said Jackie.
"But Uncle made up a magical spell that could banish them back to the Netherworld and there they've stayed since then." Said Uncle, finishing the story.
"Wow, compared to most stories we've heard, yours might actually be more tamed." Said Leo in shock.
"All right, what about you girls, your the only ones left now." Said Mikey, looking at the Guardians.
"Oh, well we never had long journeys or adventures like the rest of you have, we're just starting out." Said Taranee.
"Basically, today was just our first day." Said Irma, hoping to dumb it down.
"All we do know is that, we're supposed to finish a war that's been going on in a world called Meridian and defeat and a tyrant called Prince Phobos." Said Will.
"Seriously?" Asked Toph as most of the group had lowered their eyelids at them.
"Do not judge so quickly, they may have only started, but they have a long journey ahead of them." Said Uncle.
"I'll believe it when i see it." Said Raph as he rolled his eyes.
"Perhaps you should also be told of the story to fully understand." Said Uncle as he went to the middle of the group.
Uncke began to spin his finger, creating a large astral image of what appeared to be the known universe.
Though the guardians and the Chan Clan looked in non surprised, it wasn't all that big given they've seen it before, Team Avatar and Ninja Turtles's eyes all widened, and their jaws practically dropped.
Long ago, the Universe as we know it, was once one single entity, ruled and guarded by the forces of good.
However, the Universe also seeks balance: Yin and Yang; light and darkness, order and chaos, good and evil.
One world, the kingdom of Meridian, was overtaken by dark forces.
In order to prevent the rest of the Universe from falling into chaos, a great and magical veil was created to isolate Meridian and contain its evil."
The magical projection showed a green planetoid that represented Meridian being covered by black roses and thrones, with a purple and vibrant aura surrounding the planet to represent the veil.
The one responsible for this darkness, is a man named Phobos.
The projection began to shift as the black roses and vines changed into the form of a throne and the aforementioned tyrant sat at the top.
Aang and Leo looked to the projection of Phobos with a slight glare, reminding him very much of the likes of Zhao or even Shredder.
But he is not the legitimate ruler.
Meridian's inhabitants believe that the true heir to the throne is somewhere here on Earth.
"Um… I'd like to wake up now." Said Mikey in concern.
Irma shushed him.
But portals have begun to open in the veil.
The magical projection showed a blue swirling portal for emphasis.
Doorways through which evil can cross between worlds.
There are people called Guardians whose job it is to close these holes using their magical powers.
He snapped his fingers as the projection vanished.
"As of now the duty is passing to this generation." Said Uncle, pointing to the five girls.
Sokka immediately stood up.
"Well, thanks for the story-OW!" Yelled Sokka as he had been dope slapped by Uncle.
"You-You did not just slap me!" Yelled Sokka.
"Sit down right now, the story is not finished yet!" Yelled Uncle.
Sokka immediately sat back down as the others sunk deeper into their chairs, as well, with the hope of avoiding being slapped.
"So you Guardians are like magical hero girls?" Asked Mikey.
"Pretty much." Said Hay Lin as she nodded.
"So, this Phobos, you think he's going to come here to our Earths?" Asked Aang.
"Most definitely, he already rules Meridian with an iron fist, though there is a rebellion going on, they have yet to make any significant progress in defeating him." Said Uncle.
"If he isn't stopped, I fear that not just Earth, but other worlds may be threatened by his darkness." Said Uncle as he was more concern for life on the others worlds.
Team Avatar and Ninja Turtles had a very good idea where this was going, though they didn't really like the idea.
"So do you want us to help fight him?" Asked Leo.
"Not quite." Replied Uncle.
"Uncle expect that you will be fighting his forces alongside Jackie, but you will not be doing it alone." Said Uncle.
Will had a good idea where he was going with this and pulled out the Heart of Kandrakar from her neck.
"This is the Heart of Kandrakar, which contains the elementary forces of nature." Said Uncle as Will showed the crystal, as Team Avatar and Ninja Turtles looked in awe.
Though it was small, they could all tell there was something very special about it.
"Each one of these girls are connected to the five elements." Said Uncle.
"Irma, Water." Said Uncle.
Irma held out her hand and a sphere of water came out to her.
Katara looked in amazement.
"Taranee, Fire." Said Uncle.
A blade of fire came out from Taranee's hand.
This made Team Avatar look away in nervousness as they had to deal with the Fire Nation for the past year.
"Cornelia, Earth." Said Uncle.
Cornelia held out her hand and plants began to spout all over.
"Not bad, but i'm better." Said Toph with cockiness which made Cornelia scowl.
"Hay Lin, Air." Said Uncle.
Hay Lin took a deep breath before relasing a small tornado around them.
Aang looked impressed, never seeing anyone using Air related powers.
"In time all five girls will get better with their powers." Said Uncle.
"Wait a minuet, you said five?" Asked Leo as everyone looked to the only girl who didn't seem to display any kind of power.
"No way, that's impossible, everyone knows there are only four elements, Air, Water, Fire and Earth." Said Sokka.
"Actually there were many mythologies that elements take on different forms such as Ice, Metal, Wood and Lightning." Said Donnie.
"Oh, what element does she got?!" Asked Mikey excitedly.
"We don't actually know at the moment, all we we're told is that she holds the heart." Replied Taranee.
The group was surprise, she was supposed to be a member but her only role was holding a heart?
"Originally, there was supposed to be five elemental girls but Will's elemental power is what keeps the Veil from lifting, until Phobos is defeat, Will cannot obtain her power." Replied Uncle.
The Fifth Element? Asked everyone thoughts.
"One of the five, binds the others, and with the Heart of Kandrakar, unites them, summoning and magnifying their powers." Said Uncle.
"And because of it's power and position, Will is the leader of the Guardians." Said Uncle.
"Okay, that part you never told me." Said Will, looking at Uncle.
"You never asked." Uncle shot back.
"Okay recap." Said Donnie as he stood up.
"Five girls who are still kids and tasked with protecting the world from evil by repairing holes in some kind of veil?" Asked Donnie.
"And probably beating the crap out of bad guys!" Mikey exclaimed excitedly.
"Correct." Said Uncle as he nodded.
"Okay, i think it's best if we get some sleep, we'll answer more questions in the morning." Said Jackie as he noticed how late it was getting.
"Might as well, it's not like we could leave this place even if we wanted to." Said Donnie.
"Considering we're in a place none of us are familiar with, that might be the best option." Said Sokka in agreement.
So they packed up for the night and camped out in the woods with one person each taking turns to stand guard so nothing could surprise.
Unknown to them, there's a sign that said: 50 miles to Ninjago City.
