Chapter 24
Fin and Amanda arrived at Abigail's to find the woman's car not in front of the home. It wasn't surprising, since it was still during regular work hours. Still, they scoped out the exterior of the home to see if anything was amiss.
"Fin," the blonde hissed at him. His eyes went to where hers were glued. The back door was solid wood at the bottom, but the top had nine small windowpanes with wood pieces in between them, creating nine small rectangles. The rectangles were not small enough that someone couldn't put their arm through it.
"Shit," he cussed before grabbing his radio and calling for backup. Amanda tested the doorknob and found it unlocked. The two quickly entered the residence and swiftly moved around the first floor, staying as quiet as they could. No signs of Abigail but definitely signs of a mess.
"Someone was looking for something?" Amanda practically whispered to her partner. Fin frowned. Abigail wouldn't have anything that would give her grandfather away. The only thing was her. They moved to the basement stairs and quickly cleared the space. Once back on the first floor, the found the stairs to the second floor and headed up. All they found was more mess.
"She's not here. Backup should be here soon. Call Liv. We need to see if she made it into work today," Fin said. Amanda grabbed her cell phone from her pocket and called their Captain. The sirens could be heard as the police cars moved up the street. Fin went to let the backup in.
"What have you got Sergeant?" Officer Brooks from the local precinct asked once he was inside the door.
"Possible abduction of the homeowner, Abigail Davidson. Minimum a burglary. I want CSU dusting everything for prints," Fin told him.
"You got it. Do you have a picture of Abigail Davidson or a description for the alert?" Brooks wondered. That's when Amanda got off the phone.
"Abigail made it to work today. Liv has Elliot and Joe picking her up and taking her to the precinct. We've got trouble with Jamie and Bobby," the blonde explained.
"Ok, no alert but we definitely want this place processed," Fin told Brooks. The Officer nodded and went to find his partner, who was waiting for the CSU team.
"What kind of trouble?" The Sergeant lowered his voice as Amanda came up closer.
"Guy was sitting outside our friend's apartment. So, they got him into their car and then the guy started following them. They called Jett, who told Elliot. Liv said she's going to meet them near the back door," she explained, in a low tone.
"He's been made. That seals it with the lawyer," Fin said.
"Big time," Amanda nodded.
"Hey Sergeant, what made you guys come here?" It was Officer Brooks.
"She was helping us nail her brother to the wall," Fin told him.
"Guy isn't out on bail, is he?" Brooks looked concerned.
"No, which is why this is so messed up," the detective said.
"You want us to hand this over to Burglary unit or does SVU want it?" Brooks wondered.
"Hand it off to Burglary. We have no way to know this was related to what she was helping us with. Have them call me when they find something," Fin handed over a card to the Officer.
"Will do," Brooks smiled and then radioed for the proper detectives to arrive. Fin turned to Amanda and the two headed back to SVU. There was a lot of work to do.
Meanwhile, back at the precinct, Olivia was watching for the vehicle. The last thing she wanted was to put detectives, who did not work for her, to be in the middle of something they hadn't started. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the Captain spotted the vehicle and the one behind it. Jamie pulled the unmarked car up to a bakery that was across the street from the precinct. The car that had been following, kept moving passed them. The three waited until he moved around the block before running over to Olivia.
"I don't like this," Jamie told the Captain as they went into the back door of the precinct.
"I don't either. Let's regroup," she gave him a tight smile.
