Chapter 10

Amphibia Part 1

Now that they have saved another world, Molly and Libby piloted their gummi ship through space once again. Even though they were glad that Mewni was safe now, they still felt unease about everything that had happened before they left.

Since they now know the true identity of the old man who they encountered throughout their journey, they knew that they should be more careful than ever. As Libby guided Mollibby, she could tell that Molly was scared too.

"Are you still thinking about Xehanort, Molly?" Libby asked.

Molly nodded in response. "I just can't believe that Xehanort would go so far to hurt our friends like that! How could anyone be so cruel?"

"Don't worry, Molly! If we run into Xehanort again, I'll make sure to protect you from him." Libby assured.

With a smile, Molly replied, "What would I do without you, Libby? You're the best!"

Libby soon smiled back as Molly said that. Normally, she would give Molly a kiss, but had to focus on piloting the gummi ship.

Before long, Molly and Libby found a new world, so they made their descent before getting out of the ship. This new world appeared to be a swamp-like area. At least, what was left of it was swamp-like. It appeared that most of the swamp areas had been destroyed thanks to some industrialization from some kind of robots.

Upon taking a closer look at the robots, Molly and Libby realized that the robots resembled frogs.

"Molly, are they frog robots?" Libby never thought she would be asking that question.

"That's what it looks like. I wonder what's going on." Molly replied.

As Molly and Libby stepped closer, the robots took notice before aiming their blasters at them. Surprised by this, Molly and Libby stopped in their tracks. They could tell that they weren't welcome here.

"Uh, don't mind us! We were just passing through!" Molly said with a nervous grin.

The robots didn't listen as they began to fire lasers. Thinking fast, the girls summoned their keyblades to block the lasers. As the robots got ready to fire once again, Molly and Libby took this opportunity to fight back with their keyblades.

Whenever they would defeat a robot with their keyblades, another one would just take its place. The fight went on until the robots had Molly and Libby completely surrounded.

"There are too many of them!" Libby yelled, getting worn out from the fight.

It was at that moment when one of the robots got hit from behind by a rock, gaining the attention of the rest of the army.

Everyone soon took notice of a small pink anthropomorphic frog boy with a slingshot in his hand.

"Hey! Why don't you bullies pick on someone your own size?" the frog yelled to the robots.

Now that the frog had the robots' attention, they went after him next. Despite that, he was not the least bit intimidated

Once the robots were close enough, the frog yelled, "Anne, now!"

That was when a 13 year old girl jumped in and took the robots by surprise. Just like Molly, the girl was Thai and wielded a sword of her own. She swung her sword at the robots while the frog continued to knock them down by firing rocks at them. Now that they were no longer surrounded, it was easier for Molly and Libby to fight back. One by one, the robots were deactivated until there were no more robots left.

Once they were sure it was safe, Molly and Libby approached the girl and the frog to thank them for saving them.

"Thank you for saving us! We don't know what we would have done if you hadn't come to our rescue!" Libby breathed a sigh of relief.

"We're just glad that you two are alright! My name is Anne Boonchuy, by the way!" the girl introduced.

"And my name is Sprig Plantar! Nice to meet you!" the frog said, holding out his hand.

Normally, Molly and Libby would find a talking frog to be strange, but after meeting Buff Frog from their previous adventure in Mewni, they weren't too weirded out by it.

"It's nice to meet you too!" Molly replied with a smile as she and Libby shook Sprig's hand. "My name is Molly McGee!"

"And I am her girlfriend, Libby Stein-Torres!" Libby introduced.

"So, did you two get trapped in Amphibia too?" Anne asked.

"Amphibia?" Molly repeated. "Is that the name of this world? Looks kind of industrial to me."

"It has only been that way just recently!" Anne explained. "Come on. Let's get out of here before more of King Andrias' robots find us!"

With that, Anne and Sprig led Molly and Libby into a nearby swamp that the robots hadn't completely destroyed yet. As they made their escape, Molly and Libby began to wonder about the robots that just attacked them.

"So, is Amphibia usually overrun with frog robots?" Libby asked as she followed Anne and Sprig.

"No. The king of Amphibia, Andrias built those robots so that he could conquer worlds, including this one!" Sprig explained.

"He wants to conquer multiple worlds at once?" Molly asked, shocked. "That sounds horrible!"

"Trust me, it is!" Anne's expression soon turned sad. "He even has my friend, Marcy trapped in his castle. I just know that Marcy is still alive! I have to save her!"

While Molly and Libby didn't know who this King Andrias was, they knew that Anne needed to rescue her friend. That was more than enough for them to want to help her.

"Don't worry, Anne! Molly and I will help you save your friend!" Libby assured.

Anne soon turned back, surprised by what she heard. "You really mean it?"

Molly nodded. "Yes! Libby and I already have experience fighting monsters and we want to help fight back against Andrias!"

"Thanks! We appreciate all the help we can get!" Anne thanked. "Before we do anything else, I would like to introduce you to the rest of my friends in Wartwood! We should be getting close!"

It wasn't long before the industrialized parts of Amphibia disappeared in the distance and Molly and Libby took notice of a village of talking frogs, each of them getting ready for battle.

Upon taking a closer look at Wartwood, Molly and Libby noticed that the village was destroyed, no doubt from all of the destruction King Andrias and his army caused.

"Is this where you have been living at this whole time, Anne?" Molly asked.

"Nah! Wartwood is not usually this much of a war zone!" Anne jokingly replied.

Seeing Wartwood destroyed made Libby feel bad for the villagers. "This is really sad! Wartwood seemed to be a beautiful place!"

"You think that's bad? Just be glad that you weren't here when the village got into a ship war with each other over a work of fiction!" Sprig said as he thought back to when he and his sister got the entire town to have a ship war with each other after Anne showed them the movie, Love Choice.

"Yikes! That sounds really bad! I know that I would hate to be involved in any kind of ship wars!" Molly replied, glad she wasn't around to witness the drama.

"I'll admit Wartwood is not exactly to best place to live, but this town holds a lot of precious memories for me. Sprig and I have been through a lot together since I first came to Amphibia." Anne explained.

"Yeah! Ever since Anne and I became best friends, it has always been Spranne against the world!" Sprig explained before he and Anne gave each other a high five.

After exploring Wartwood for a couple of moments, Anne decided that it was time to introduce Molly and Libby to her frog family. That was when Molly and Libby met a polliwog named, Polly and an elderly frog named, Hop Pop.

"Anne! Sprig!" Both, Hop Pop and Polly ran over to their family happy that they were both safe.

"Hey, guys!" Anne hugged the rest of her family.

"How did your fight with those robots go? Did you mess them up?" Polly asked.

"Sure did! I even made a couple of new friends! Molly! Libby! I would like you to meet the rest of my frog family, Hop Pop and Polly!" Anne introduced.

"It's a pleasure to meet you!" Hop Pop stepped forward as he shook Molly and Libby's hands. "I'd never thought we'd be meeting more humans who got trapped in Amphibia. How did you get here, anyway?"

"Well, it's kind of a long story." Molly replied, not wanting to bring up the gummi ship.

It was at that moment when Libby gasped in shock when she noticed another robot behind her. Even though it was small, as it took the appearance of a toy car, it was still enough to startle Libby.

"Aah! Another robot!" Libby backed away in fear.

"Relax! That's just Frobo! He is not with Andrias! He is actually really friendly!" Polly explained.

As Libby started to calm down, she replied, "Oh, I'm sorry. It's nice to meet you, Frobo."

Libby shyly waved towards Frobo, who used one of his wheels to wave back with a friendly smile.

"Anyway, have either of you seen Sasha anywhere?" Anne asked, wanting to introduce her new friends to her human friend.

"Yeah! We last saw her with Grime, trying to think of a new battle strategy!" Hop Pop answered.

"Great! Thanks! Come on, Molly and Libby! I would like you to meet a friend of mine!"

It wasn't long before Anne found a blonde haired girl, who was speaking with a one-eyed toad.

"Hey, Sasha!" Anne got the girl's attention. "Can I speak with you for a second?"

"Sure, Anne!" the girl named, Sasha replied before facing the toad captain. "Can you give us a sec, Grime?"

"Very well, Sasha. I'll be inside, trying to put our battle strategy into action." Grime replied before walking away.

Now that they were alone, Anne decided to introduce the new recruits.

"Good news, Sasha! Molly and Libby here said that they want to help us in our fight against King Andrias!" Anne explained.

"Awesome!" Sasha exclaimed, happy to have more recruits. "Welcome to the resistance, you two!"

"So, what are we going to be fighting exactly?" Libby was almost afraid to ask.

"Just the usual stuff! Some robots and some creatures Andrias took control of." Sasha explained, not making this war sound any less intimidating.

Suddenly, a bunch of frog-like monsters appeared out of nowhere, startling everyone. Judging by the heart sigils on their backs, Molly and Libby could tell that they were the Heartless.

"Oh, crud! We have been discovered by more monsters!" Sasha yelled before drawing her sword. "Are they more of Andrias' army?"

"No! They're Heartless!" Molly answered before Molly and Libby summoned their keyblades as they got ready to fight.

The frog Heartless attacked by extending their tongues, knocking everyone to the ground. After recovering from the attack, Anne and Sasha rushed towards the Heartless with their swords. That was when the Heartless jumped out of the way, making it hard for Anne and Sasha to hit them.

Molly and Libby tried hitting them with their keyblades, but ended up missing like Anne and Sasha. Exhausted from the fight, Libby just came up with an idea.

"Molly, maybe we should try using our magic on them!" Libby suggested.

"Great idea, Libby!" Molly liked the sound of Libby's idea.

At that moment, the two friends casted stop spells on the Heartless, freezing them in time. With the Heartless frozen, Molly and Libby rushed over to them and defeated them with their keyblades.

Now that the Heartless were gone, Anne, Sprig, and Sasha were left impressed by Molly and Libby's fighting.

"Wow! You two were amazing!" Sprig exclaimed. "You two work as well together as Anne and I do!"

"Thanks, Sprig! I guess now it's Mollibby against the world!" Molly joked, to which Libby rolled her eyes with an amused smile.

"I have to admit, your fight moves are impressive! I think the resistance can really use some strong fighters like you two!" Sasha complimented, glad to have Molly and Libby fighting on their side. "Anyway, now that we know that there are more monsters out there, I'd better check in with Captain Grime and rethink our battle strategy for tomorrow!" Sasha announced before she made her way back inside.

Later that night, Molly and Libby decided to go to sleep to get ready for their fight with Andrias and his army. As they waited for the upcoming battle, they started to spend time with Anne and the Plantars to get to know them better.

For the past couple of hours, everyone began to tell each other about their lives back home. Molly was the last one to tell her new friends about herself as she told everyone of her adventures back in Brighton.

"And there was also this one time my grandma, Nin came over for a visit! She gave my dad a durian as a gift and it smelled terrible when he opened it!" Molly laughed, thinking back to her life in Brighton.

"Let me guess! First time eating a durian?" Anne asked with an amused grin. "Back on Earth, Hop Pop couldn't handle the smell of a durian either!"

"Oh, yeah! That was when we first met that robot that Andrias sent after us!" Sprig remembered. "It's a good thing Anne had her calamity powers to protect us!"

"Wow, Sprig! It sounds like you guys have been on a lot of interesting adventures!" Molly replied.

Sprig nodded. "You have no idea, Molly! I even ended up meeting another human named, Molly back on Earth!" Sprig explained remembering when he met Molly Jo. "It was thanks to her and a bunch of other humans we befriended that we were able to return to Amphibia."

"Sprig is right! We had plenty of friends back home who helped us escape from the government and return to Amphibia." Anne remembered. "There was also Dr. Jan, Terri, and some friends from the Thai Temple who helped as well!"

"And Humphrey too!" Hop Pop remembered his actor friend.

"And don't forget Ally and Jess!" Polly mentioned her I.T. friends as well.

Hearing Anne and the Plantars go on so many adventures together surprised Molly and Libby. Neither of them had even started going on those kinds of adventures until the Heartless attacked Brighton. They couldn't imagine doing something like this on a daily basis.

"Wow! I'm actually kind of jealous. It's amazing how easy you were able to make so many friends. I'm not exactly that social around others myself." Libby admitted with a shy smile.

With a chuckle, Anne replied, "Honestly, Marcy's kind of similar. Back in Newtopia, she told me how she had trouble even looking at someone in the eye." Her smile sound faded as she began to worry about her friend. "I just hope she's okay."

Seeing that Anne was worried, Molly tried to comfort her. "Don't worry, Anne! I promise that Libby and I will help you rescue Marcy!"

"Thanks, Molly! I'm glad to have you and Libby as my friends!" Soon Anne let out a yawn. "Well, it's probably time for us to get some sleep! It's going to be a long day tomorrow!"

Everyone else agreed as they all decided to go to sleep. Despite how nervous they were about tomorrow, Molly and Libby were comfortable, knowing that they would be there to protect each other. Before long, everyone drifted off to sleep as they got ready for their upcoming battle.
