Chapter 22
Duckburg Part 3
Several hours had passed before Launchpad flew everyone back to the mansion. With the dime and Gem of Light in Magica's possession, Molly and her friends discussed their next plan.
"So, how are we going to stop Magica from taking over Duckburg?" Molly asked Scrooge.
"There is no doubt that Magica is at her lair, ready to enact her plan!" Scrooge explained. "Stopping her is not going to be easy! She will be ready for us and start attacking with her most powerful spells."
"Hey, Molly and I can use powerful magic too! Maybe we can keep Magica distracted while you and the others take the dime and gem back!" Libby suggested.
Everyone soon thought of Libby's idea in silence before Huey spoke up. "That doesn't sound like a bad idea! After all, Molly and Libby have more knowledge with magic than any of us."
At first, Scrooge wasn't comfortable with letting Molly and Libby deal with a villain as dangerous as Magica. However, he had already seen how well they fought monsters.
"Very well! Once we confront Magica, you two will distract her while I get back everything she stole! Duckworth, you look after the mansion while we are away!" Scrooge ordered his butler.
"Yes, sir! No monsters will infiltrate the mansion while I'm around!" Duckworth assured.
At that moment, everyone returned to the Sunchaser as Launchpad took off once again. While Launchpad was flying towards Magica's lair, Molly and Libby were mentally preparing themselves for their upcoming fight with Magica.
Meanwhile at Magica's lair, Xehanort was infusing Scrooge's dime with the power of darkness in order to grant Magica the powers she desired. Wanting to bring an end to her arch-nemesis already, Magica started to get impatient with Xehanort.
"What is taking so long? I wish to annihilate Scrooge some time this century!" Magica yelled.
"Patience. In time, you shall have your revenge! In the meantime, I believe you have some visitors who wish to speak with you." Xehanort replied as he sensed Molly and Libby's presence.
That was when Magica's front door swung open, and Molly and Libby rushed in, keyblades in hand. Annoyed by the intrusion, Magica grabbed her staff and confronted her enemies.
"I see that you have came here alone! That would be the last mistake you will make!" Magica aimed her staff at Molly and Libby.
Despite her fear, Libby tried to stay strong. "We're not afraid of you, Magica!"
"Oh, you should be! Xehanort warned me about you and your keyblades, and I am not going to be defeated by a couple of brats like you!"
"Listen, it doesn't have to be like this!" Molly tried to reason with Magica. "Just give back Scrooge's dime and the Gem of Light!"
"Never! I'm going to destroy you, along with your little sidekick!" Magica said with a sinister grin.
Offended by what Magica just said, Molly yelled, "Hey! Libby is not my sidekick, Magica! She is my partner!"
Libby soon blushed at what Molly said. "Aww! Thanks, Molly!"
"Enough! Prepare to die!" Magica got ready to fight.
As the battle began, Magica began to fire magic from her staff, to which Molly and Libby blocked with their keyblades. The girls then charged towards Magica as they swung their keyblades at her before she blocked them with her staff.
The fight with Magica continued as Scrooge and his family sneaked into Magica's lair, determined to take back the dime and gem. Scrooge decided to go after his dime first. He was about to grab it before he got knocked back by the darkness infused in the dime.
"Mr. McD, what happen? That looked like a rough landing, and I should know." Launchpad, commented, speaking from experience.
"It's no good! My dime is so corrupted, I can't even touch it!" Scrooge explained.
Once Magica realized what was going on, she fired a blast of magic at Scrooge and the others, forcing them to dodge out of the way.
"Did you really think you would take the dime back so easily!" Magica taunted. "I'm afraid you are too late! With all of the darkness consumed in the dime, I finally have enough power to take over Duckburg!"
The moment Magica dragged the dime towards her with her magic, the dime got absorbed into her staff. A dark aura soon surrounded Magica, and everyone realized that she was now more powerful than ever.
"Oh boy. That doesn't look good!" Louie started to worry.
"Big deal! We defeated Magica before, and we'll do it again!" Dewey was ready for the showdown with Magica.
Magica was ready to hit the family with a powerful spell of darkness before Molly and Libby jumped in and blocked it with their keyblades. However, the spell was more powerful than they expected and knocked them to the floor.
Libby rubbed her head before she slowly got back up, "Ugh! That spell was really powerful! What are we going to do?"
"Don't give up yet, Libby! After all, Magica isn't the only one who knows magic!" Molly reminded Libby.
The two friends then got back up before they started to hit Magica with their most powerful spells. One of their fire spells ended up setting Magica's cape on fire. With a scream, Magica stopped the flames out before glaring at Molly and Libby.
"That was a new cape! You two are going to pay for that!"
At that point, Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby joined in on the fight as well. They charged towards Magica and tried to take her staff, but she simply knocked them away. She then fired a spell aimed at Webby before Beakly jumped in front of her granddaughter and ended up getting hit by the spell instead.
"Granny!" Webby rushed over to her grandmother to make sure she was alright.
"Don't worry about me, Webby! It's just a scratch!" Beakly tried to assure her granddaughter, but was too weak to get up.
Webby then turned to Magica in rage, furious for what she had done to her grandmother. With a scream of rage, Webby tackled Magica before repeatedly punching and kicking her.
Seeing their chance, Molly, Libby, and Scrooge knocked Magica's staff out of her hand with their keyblades and cane. As the staff flew in the air, the dime was free, allowing Scrooge to reclaim his dime. That was when the dark aura around Magica disappeared as she lost her newfound powers.
"No! My dark powers are gone! How is this possible?" Magica couldn't believe what just happened.
"Don't you see, Magica? As long as my family and I stick together, you can never hope to defeat us!" Scrooge explained.
With a growl, Magica yelled, "Don't think that this is over, Scrooge! I will return, and someday I will have my revenge!"
With that, Magica escaped in a puff of smoke, leaving Xehanort the only one that Molly and her friends had to deal with. Despite being outnumbered, Xehanort was not intimidated in the slightest.
"It would appear that she wasn't able to properly use the power of darkness after all." Xehanort commented.
"Your plan has failed, Xehanort! You are not going to take over Duckburg!" Molly yelled.
With a sinister chuckled Xehanort replied, "You are wrong! My plan is nearly complete! I am close to forging the X-blade and summoning Kingdom Hearts! Farewell, keyblade wielders!"
It was at that moment when Xehanort made his escape through a corridor of darkness. With nothing left to stop her, Molly cautiously approached the gem of light before a small glimmer emitted from the gem. The light of the gem ended up forming a keyhole, to which the duck family stared in awe.
"Bless me bagpipes!" Scrooge exclaimed as he couldn't keep his eyes off the keyhole.
Now that the keyhole was finally revealed, Molly and Libby aimed their keyblades at it before firing a beam of light, saving Duckburg.
Now that the Heartless were no longer attacking Duckburg, Molly and Libby returned to the mansion with Scrooge and the others.
"Molly. Libby. Thank you for getting my dime back and helping us save Duckburg!" Scrooge thanked. "What do you say to joining us on another adventure?"
"We would love to, but Molly and I have our on adventure to go on." Libby explained.
Even though they were sad to see their new friends go, the family still wished them luck on the rest of their journey.
"We are all going to miss you! Feel free to visit Duckburg whenever you have the time!" Beakly smiled.
"Yeah! I would be more than happy to fly you back!" Launchpad offered.
After saying goodbye to the adults, Molly and Libby decided to say goodbye to Webby and the triplets last.
"We had fun on our adventure with you guys!" Molly smiled.
"We feel the same way, Molly!" Huey replied.
"If you want to go on another adventure, you know where to find us!" Dewey added.
Louie nodded in agreement. "Yeah! And if you want those keyblades to be sold then don't hesitate to ask me!"
With a roll of her eyes, Webby said, "Oh, just ignore Louie! Just go out there and kick some Heartless butt!"
"We will! Bye everyone!" Molly waved goodbye.
The moment they said goodbye to their new friends, Molly and Libby returned to their gummi ship. They soon took off into the sky and left Duckburg, ready to continue their journey.
