Chapter 26
The Final Battle
The sun rose over Destiny Islands, and Molly and Libby were finally ready for their fight with Xehanort. As they summoned their keyblades, they opened a portal they would lead them to where Xehanort is. Molly and Libby took a couple of deep breaths before Chirithy approached them.
"Are you sure you are ready for this? This could be the point of no return!" Chirithy cautioned.
Molly nodded. "Yes, we are ready. It's time to stop Xehanort!"
"Chirithy, it could be dangerous, so you might want to stay here until Molly and I get back!" Libby suggested.
"I understand. Good luck out there, and may your hearts be your guiding key!" Chirithy wished Molly and Libby luck before waving goodbye.
Both, Molly and Libby waved goodbye as well before turning to face the portal. They soon stepped through the portal as they were teleported to another world. At that moment, Molly and Libby looked up to see a bright blue sky above them. They looked around to see that they were in a town, surrounded by an ocean. The town was filled with buildings and citadels that were built on mountains towering above Molly and Libby.
"Where are we?" Libby asked.
"I'm not sure. Let's go check out this town. I somehow know that Xehanort is here!" Molly explained.
With that, Molly and Libby summoned their keyblades as they both explored the seemingly abandoned town. As they made their way through town, Molly and Libby defeated any Heartless that stood in their way. They fought their way through the Heartless until they stood alone in the center of town.
That was when the girls sensed a dark presence, so they looked up to see Xehanort looking down on them from a stairway. At that moment, Molly and Libby raised their keyblades as Xehanort slowly made his descent down the stairs.
"Behold, this town! Here, you stand at a place that was once a seat of power for all keyblade wielders known as, Scala ad Caelum!" Xehanort said as he reached the bottom of the stairs. "You two have arrived just in time to watch as I summon Kingdom Hearts!"
"No! Molly and I are going to stop you!" Libby said, raising her keyblade.
"We made it this far, and we are not going to give up now!" Molly agreed. "After all the pain you've caused, Libby and I are finally going to defeat you!"
With a dark chuckle, Xehanort replied, "If that is what you wish, I suppose there is no stopping our battle! Do not disappoint me like last time!"
It was at that moment when darkness began to surround Xehanort, causing Molly and Libby to brace themselves for the worst. As the darkness disappeared, it was revealed that Xehanort was protected in a battle armor that had a goat-like appearance. Without another word, the now armored Xehanort summoned his keyblade.
Without warning, Xehanort charged at Molly and Libby, to which they tried to block with their keyblades. This didn't do any good as Xehanort managed to knock them both back with his keyblade.
As Xehanort was about to attack them again, Molly and Libby dodged by jumping on the rooftops of the buildings. Xehanort gave chase as Molly and Libby jumped from rooftop to rooftop, dodging Xehanort's keyblade strikes and hitting him whenever they got the chance. It was at that point when Xehanort decided to use magic as he summoned pillars of flames from below. The girls dodged the flames before Xehanort ended up destroying the building they were on, forcing Molly and Libby to jump off the buildings before they collapsed.
Using his dark powers, Xehanort lifted one of the buildings in the air before tossing it at full speed. Thinking fast, Molly and Libby slashed through the building with their keyblades, causing it to split into debris. As the debris was still floating in the air, Molly jumped from the broken parts of the building to close in on Xehanort.
However, Molly was caught by surprise when Xehanort grabbed her by the throat and pinned her against the wall. Molly choked as she tried to swing her keyblade at him, but he merely caught it with his other hand and tossed it aside. It was at that moment when Xehanort's hand started to glow as he was ready to kill Molly with a spell.
Thankfully, Libby showed up on time as she took Xehanort by surprise by swinging her keyblade at him as hard as she could. This released Xehanort's grip on Molly, allowing her summon her keyblade again and swing it at him as well. At that point, Molly and Libby took turns swinging their keyblades at Xehanort until they both slashed him at the same time, knocking him to the ground.
The impact of the fall caused Xehanort's armor to be destroyed as he was now left in his regular attire. He was kneeing on the ground, weak from the battle. With Xehanort now weak, Molly and Libby approach him, keyblades in their hands.
"It's over, Xehanort!" Molly yelled, not going to let Xehanort cause any trouble.
Despite how weak he felt, Xehanort still managed a chuckle. "You forget, Molly! I still have the one weapon that you can't overcome!"
"N-No! You don't mean-" Libby gasped as she knew exactly what Xehanort was referring to.
As Xehanort stood back up, he raised his arm as he summoned the X-blade in his hand. The X-blade consisted of 2 keyblades fused in a cross with a sharp blade at the end. Both, Molly and Libby watched as Xehanort raised the X-blade in the air and the sky turned dark.
"Now, with the X-blade in hand it is time for one final battle between light and darkness!" Xehanort announced before summoning a platform beneath Molly and Libby.
Surprised by this, Molly and Libby stumbled as the platform they were standing on ended up taking them high in the sky. As the platform came to a stop, they noticed Xehanort flying above them, so they raised their keyblades, ready for their final battle.
"Come, Kingdom Hearts! Lend me your power!" Xehanort raised the X-blade before it fired a beam in the sky.
At that moment, the heart-shaped moon, known as Kingdom Hearts descended from the sky. With Kingdom Hearts summoned, Xehanort aimed the X-blade at Molly and Libby, now more powerful than ever.
Both, Molly and Libby rushed towards Xehanort as they swung their keyblades at him, but he simply teleported behind them. Thankfully, Molly and Libby managed to counter him before he could hit them with the X-blade. Xehanort's attacks were now faster than ever, making it harder for Molly and Libby to avoid getting cut.
It wasn't long before Molly and Libby were caught off guard as Xehanort slashed them both at once. After casting their healing spells on each other, they stood up, both of them still exhausted. That was when Molly and Libby decided to combine their magic together.
Molly and Libby soon held each others hands before a couple of wings of light appeared behind them. Using their new powers, Molly and Libby flew towards Xehanort at full speed as they both took turns swinging their keyblades at him. With one last attack, Molly and Libby unleashed a blast of light, knocking back Xehanort.
As Xehanort recovered from the attack, he decided to use all his dark powers. Without any hesitation, he fired blasts of darkness from the X-blade. Despite their best efforts, Molly and Libby weren't able to block the blasts and ended up getting hit until they both collapsed to the floor.
Xehanort gave a sinister grin upon seeing Molly and Libby weak. "It is time to end this!"
Molly and Libby struggled to get up, but were both too weak to even stand. All they could do was watch in horror as the X-blade was surrounded by darkness as it was ready to fire a powerful blast of darkness. Both Molly and Libby stared at one another in sadness, knowing that this was the end. Knowing that they were going to spend their last moments together, they held each others hand and closed their eyes, bracing themselves for the worst.
That was when a couple of lights began to shine at the end of their keyblades. Upon realizing what was going on, Molly and Libby aimed their keyblades at Xehanort as they slowly regained their strength. Right when the darkness fired from the X-blade, Molly and Libby fired beams of light from their keyblades to counter the attack.
"What?" Xehanort's eyes widened in shock.
As the beams of light and darkness clashed with each other, Xehanort did his best to push the light back. It was too late though since the light was too strong to be deflected. The combined light from Molly and Libby's keyblades not only pierced through Xehanort, but it also ended up sealing Kingdom Hearts, causing it to disappear.
With no more strength left to fight, Xehanort fell to the floor. He panted heavily, only able to use the X-blade to lean on in order to stay up.
"H-How? How were you able to defeat me and stop Kingdom Hearts?" Xehanort asked, doing his best to stand.
"Don't you see, Xehanort? The light Libby and I have is strong enough to protect the ones we love!" Molly explained. "It's like what I once said to an all powerful spirit from the ghost world! Light is more powerful than darkness!"
"E-Even if what you say is true, even if I do fade away, d-darkness will always form in the hearts of others." Xehanort panted. "No matter how much light you think you have, darkness will be a part of everyone's heart, including yours."
"Maybe that's true, but if the darkness ever gets out of hand, Molly and I will be there to stop it and save everyone we love!" Libby explained.
With no more strength left to fight, Xehanort slowly closed his eyes as his body faded away, along with the X-blade. Once Xehanort was gone, Molly and Libby began to relax before they put their keyblades away.
"Is it over?" Libby asked.
Molly nodded. "I think so."
At that moment, Molly and Libby took notice of a light that was flying towards them. The light soon dimmed, and Molly and Libby were both happy to see that it was Chirithy who was standing in front of them.
"Molly! Libby! I'm so glad that you two are alright!" Chirithy exclaimed.
"Chirithy!" Molly and Libby rushed over to Chirithy and hugged them, happy to see that their friend was alright.
"You did it! Now all worlds should be safe!" said Chirithy.
"I'm so glad that it is all over! I think it is about time we returned to Brighton, right, Molly?" Libby asked.
Molly nodded in agreement. "Yes! I will be happy to finally be reunited with my family!"
Now that they were ready to go home, Molly and Libby raised their keyblades and fired beams of light which revealed a portal that led to Brighton.
"So, this is what Brighton looks like?" Chirithy asked. "I like it! You two must be happy to be back after so long!"
"We are, Chirithy! If I'm being honest though, I had a lot of fun on our adventure together, Molly!" Libby admitted.
"Me too! We visited a lot of worlds and made a bunch of wonderful friends!" Molly began to reminisce on her adventure with Libby.
Before stepping through the portal, Molly and Libby closed their eyes and thought back to all of their friends they made in Gravity Falls, Echo Creek, Mewni, Amphibia, The Boiling Isles, Danville, and Duckburg. It wasn't long before they were ready to return home. After holding each others hands, Molly and Libby walked with Chirithy as they all stepped through the portal to Brighton.
