Raditz sat aboard the Saiyan spacecraft, bored. He and his crew had left Planet Vegeta a few days ago, and were currently on their way to a planet that was deemed suitable for some clients of Lord Freeza. Among his crew were the mid-class warrior Nappa, the two low-class warriors Brocco and Pump, and the prince himself, Vegeta. Being assigned to a squad such as this should've impressed the low-class warrior, as it did the others, but Raditz just wanted the mission over and done with. He hated being cramped inside some stupid spaceship for days at a time, especially when he's stuck with a pompous jackass like the prince.

Of course, he kept these thoughts to himself. Raditz was many things, but he wasn't an idiot, he knew the prince could take him down in seconds, even though they were both just kids. Instead, Raditz kept to himself, only coming out of his room when there was an important transmission the crew received from the higher ups, or when it was time to eat. Being the weakest on the ship, however, meant he basically only got the scraps. Vegeta would get the first pickings, obviously, then Nappa, and Brocco would fight with Pump over whatever was untouched. Then Raditz would come in and try to find whatever he could to keep himself from starving.

He sat staring outside at the hundreds of stars passing by his window, the black void of space seeming comfortable to him. Like a true saiyan, Raditz could be in solitude for months on end without as much as a care in the universe. As long as he got to eat and train, he had no real complaints beyond hating whoever was on assignment with him.

As he stared at a distant blue star, he heard his door slide open. Taking a glance towards it, he saw the gigantic figure of Nappa standing in the doorway. He stood tall and wide, a soft tuft of hair on top of his big head, with a long thin mustache resting across his mouth. Normally, Nappa was a loud, idiotic member of the crew, but since it hadn't been long since dinner, he felt a bit sluggish after all the meat he had consumed. He stared down at the small saiyan with a blank expression.

"There's a transmission directly from Planet Vegeta for you, Raditz." the giant stated. Raditz raised a curious eyebrow at this. "For me? Who would be calling me, exactly?" he inquired. "Who knows?" he replied in response, "Go answer if you want, won't make a difference to me." And with that, he stepped out of the room, walking towards the training area.

Raditz leapt down from his seat with a sigh, walking out of the room. Maybe this was a reassignment, or maybe they were getting back up. He didn't care about whoever sent the message, just that it was something of meaning.

Stepping onto the bridge, he glanced around the control room. Beside the controls that enabled the ship to autopilot itself towards their destination was a large round table. The table held a display module inside of it, enabling long range communication via holograms. An indicator light blinked on and off rapidly, signaling that there was an incoming frequency. He stepped forward and clicked the activator button, hastily straightening his hair with his fingers in case it was Lord Freeza.

Instead of the short demon appearing in front of the boy, a spiky haired saiyan did instead. He wore standard saiyan armor (though it was customized with green colors), two blue wristbands, and bore a large scar across his cheek. Immediately, Raditz took a step back in stunned silence. It wasn't common for saiyan family members to want to talk to each other, especially when they were offworld. What could his father want?

"Hey Raditz." his father said with a firm tone. Raditz gulped before responding with a nod. "How's it going kid? Prince Vegeta giving you any trouble?" Bardock stood there, a stern expression still on his face, awaiting a response. "Oh, uh, not really. I just have to keep listening to his nonsense about his royalty or whatever." the boy said, averting his gaze as he talked. Despite being lightyears away from each other, he could still feel the presence of his father bearing down on him.

"Um, yeah…" Bardock replied. It seemed he was a bit uneasy too, though Raditz thought it was for different reasons than him. "Hey so, your mother wanted me to call you to inform you about your brother. He uh… has been assigned to a planet called Earth, far away from here." This took the young boy by surprise. Kakarotto, last time he had seen him, was still in a nursing capsule in their home on Vegeta. Why would he be sent on a mission all of a sudden?"

"What? Why? Kakarotto can barely stand on his own, now he gets his own mission?" he questioned. Bardock seemed taken aback by this, a small bead of sweat appearing on his forehead. "Well the king decided he should be sent away to test his strength, you know?" the tall man answered, back to his usual tone of voice. "The inhabitants of that world are weak, so he should be able to do the job just fine once he starts growing."

"Hmpf. Whatever, thanks for telling me I guess." Raditz answered back, satisfied with the response. "Well, I guess I'll see you and mother when I get back."He stepped forward to turn the communicator off, before his father placed a hand in front of him.

"Woah, hey, one damn second kid!" The sudden outburst from his father made the boy jump back a bit, startled. The older man caught himself before coughing into his fist. "Sorry. Your mother jus… We wanted to say that we love you. And wish you luck on your mission." Once again, Raditz was taken aback with surprise. Normally, his father never expressed such sentiments with him, always appearing too tough to be soft. Was something up? Should he be worried?

"Um, yeah, you too, father. I'll see you both on Planet Vegeta in a few days." he replied, before turning the communicator off. He stood there in silence for a few moments, before calmly turning around and heading right back to his room, where he resumed his stargazing by the window.

A few days later, he, along with the rest of the crew, got word that Planet Vegeta had been destroyed by a meteor. There were no survivors.

Hi, it's me again. So I wrote this because I recently started watching the Ocean Dub, and I absolutely love Raditz's voice in that dub. Justin Cook is great in his own right, but Jason Gray-Stanford might sway me a little bit. One of the best parts of Dragon Ball Super: Broly for me was the fact we got an entire act of the movie focusing on Planet Vegeta and the Saiyans before their eventual destruction at the hands of Freeza, and seeing Nappa and Raditz again was a treat.

This was also partly done because of the retcon or revelation about Kakarotto being sent to Earth. Originally, he was sent to conquer it, but with the invention of Dragon Ball Minus, and Broly afterwards, he was instead sent by his parents to avoid the destruction of the saiyans (Sounds familiar…). I decided to combine both of these, with him being sent by the army as a lie Bardock tells to Raditz over communications, so as to avoid suspicions of treason by his fellow Saiyans and Freeza.

And just as a note, because I was a bit hesitant to write it myself, I'm keeping to "Kakarotto" since it makes Vegito make sense. I prefer Kakarot, but I'm going with a lot of different names in this story anyway. Just wait until you see what I have planned for the Shadow Dragons. And I was insanely happy that I got to include the Phantom Saiyans here, I wanted to name the two Saiyans we saw in Broly that were on assignment with Nappa, Vegeta and Raditz, but I couldn't come up with any good puns, so thankfully I had two filler characters that fit the bill!

Anyway, subscribe to my YouTube channel, go watch the Seed of Might releases, and support your fellow humans. Goodbye!
