Hello there everyone! I'm back with this next chapter for you guys, and I really hope you enjoy it. In this one we're gonna get a little look into how things have been for Dawsey since their doctor's appointment, and how trying for a baby has been going. I had a lot of fun writing this one, and I hope you enjoy reading it!

There's not much else I have to say, just that there is a little M rated scene at the beginning of this chapter. Just so you know!

ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY FIVE

Gabby's eyebrows furrowed as she slowly came into consciousness, the early morning September sun filtering through the slits in their curtains as she began to open her eyes. It took a few moments for her vision to come into focus, the quiet around her tempting her back to sleep since Gabby knew there was nowhere she needed to be right now. But just before she allowed herself to roll back over and drift off once more, she slowly started to register the sound of the shower running in their bathroom.

The noise seemed far away at first, Gabby shaking her head a bit to try and focus before she reached out across the mattress to where her husband usually slept, only to find the spot empty. It was then her brain began putting the pieces together, and she remembered that while she had a free morning, Matt wasn't so lucky as her husband had a construction job he was scheduled for later today, Gabby letting out a soft breath while gradually forcing herself to become more alert.

As the seconds ticked by, she was regaining more of herself, her eyes drifting over towards their open bathroom door before she began to stretch out her sore and tired muscles. Muscles that had surely been given a workout the night before, a small smile tugging on her lips when that euphorically achy sensation moved through her body, Gabby's mind unable to stop from thinking back to the time her and Matt had spent together just hours ago, right here in this bed.

And how they had shared many moments like that these past few weeks, ever since Gabby got the go ahead from her doctor.

A little over two weeks had passed since Gabby visited Dr. Jeffries and she was given a clean bill of health, and ever since then it felt like this huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders. Though she was the one who had first brought up the idea of them trying for a baby, it was no secret that since she'd suggested it, she'd been worried about something being wrong. That she wouldn't be able to safely carry, or have, her and Matt's child. But now she knew that wasn't the case, that she had nothing to worry about, and that knowledge had given her the freedom to just sit back and enjoy this time in their lives.

To enjoy the time with her husband, and trying to get pregnant. It allowed her to enjoy the possibility of soon having a baby, without that black cloud hanging over her. And it was most of the most liberating feelings in the world, Gabby feeling lighter- almost carefree in a way to where she could just completely let herself go and bask in this experience.

And her husband had certainly reaped the benefits of that as well, as not only was he beyond excited about the idea of her hopefully being pregnant in the near future, but the amount of fun they were having trying was something he'd never take for granted.

Her and Matt had always had a healthy sex life. Considering that's what their relationship started as, even when they were afraid of the feelings they had for one another, that part of their lives had always been constant. And that didn't change once they got together, certainly once they got married, as both Gabby and Matt would say that part of their relationship might be the best it's ever been since their wedding. But it was like all of that was dialed up a few notches since they seriously started trying to have a baby, and Gabby knew the two of them were both experiencing a passion and desire that they maybe hadn't felt before.

It wasn't like they themselves had changed anything they were doing in the bedroom, aside from maybe the frequency of when they were together and letting go of their previous precautions, as both her and Matt were adamant that they didn't want this decision to completely dictate their lives. They were excited, and so eager to become parents, but with that came the understanding that they didn't want their sex life to turn into just sleeping together in order to achieve something else. They didn't want that to be what their relationship became, like work. Like they were on a schedule, instead of just living in the moment of this incredible time they were able to share.

Now that there was no more worrying, or stressing over things outside their control. They were solely content being together when they wanted to be, how they wanted to be, in hopes that one day they would be able to create the life they desperately wanted to have together. That was enough for them, and every day was proving that they'd made the right choice, as Gabby was sure right now were some of the greatest times they had ever had together. Because no matter how much everything stayed the same between them, it all still felt so incredibly different now.

But in the best way possible, Gabby now craving that feeling only her husband could give her while she continued glancing towards the bathroom. With the hope she would soon see him, that present tingle in the pit of her stomach never quite going away. But with the shower still running she knew he likely wouldn't be done anytime soon, Gabby taking in a deep breath before she began to get out of bed.

Her body was moving rather slowly, exhaustion still present in her limbs while she stepped across their bedroom floor, covered only by Matt's t-shirt that he'd gotten her into before going to sleep. But soon enough she got inside, Gabby's eyes immediately going towards the shower the moment she stepped into the room, where she found the outline of her husband through the hazy glass door.

Between the thick glass and the steam coming from the water, it was hard for her to directly see him, but she could make out enough to tell he was finishing up washing his hair, the smile on her face growing before she walked closer to him. She was quiet enough to where he didn't hear her, Gabby dropping his t-shirt to the ground with a silent thud just as she got to the shower, before she slowly pulled the door open.

She still had yet to make much of a noise, in fact if not for the change in temperature he likely wouldn't have noticed her at all, Matt letting the rest of the shampoo rinse from his short hair before he turned around to face her. There was already a smile resting on his face, one that widened when he saw her naked form standing directly in front of him, his eyes shamelessly trailing over her while he took in some of the various love marks he'd left behind all over her body the night before.

Though he had a fair share of his own from her as well, Gabby following his lead as she too let herself stare at her husband while she had the perfect view of him in all his glory.

"Good morning, baby." He finally greeted while taking a step back, giving her room to come in.

"Good morning." She repeated, her voice raspy from lack of use as she spoke for the first time since waking up, the warm water now hitting her back already helping some of the tiredness in her body. "You're up early." She continued on after clearing her throat. "I didn't think your job started until this afternoon."

Matt merely smiled, the man leaning forward to press a gentle kiss against her head as a way of greeting her before he pulled back, staying closer to her than he'd been moments prior. "It doesn't, but I woke up and couldn't fall back asleep." He explained, Gabby nodding as he gently reached out to rest his hand over her side, his palm brushing her breast when he moved. "So I figured I'd go ahead and get ready for the day."

"Ah, gotcha." She murmured in reply while his hand massaged her side, the feeling of him combined with the water like heaven as steam continued to surround them.

"You're working at Molly's tonight, yeah?" He questioned, though he already knew the answer before she nodded.

"I close." She vocalized.

"Right, right… I'm not sure how long my job will take, but I'll make sure to be there once I'm done." He replied easily, pulling a smile from her before she moved to kiss him.

Their movements were soft, and chaste. But they didn't stay that way for very long, not when Gabby could feel him pressing into her thigh, his want for her causing her stomach to flutter just as it had back in their bedroom as the intensity between them picked up. Their hands were roaming over one another, soft moans and breaths escaping between their lips as Matt made sure to keep them steady until they inevitably pulled back. But, as expected, neither of them moved far, his palm running over her wet back as their foreheads rested against each other.

"You know…" She started between breaths. "You should've woken me up before you came in here." Gabby spoke, Matt smiling almost instantly before he lifted his head up to where he could see her. "We could've been doing that the whole time."

He watched her chest heave as she sucked in another breath, Matt shaking his head ever so slightly before he moved in to steal another kiss. This one much more tame. "I could've." He replied, the smirk already on his face by the time she opened her eyes. "But I figured since you almost passed out on me last night, that you needed all the rest you could get."

His teasing caused her body to immediately get warm at the memory, as even though parts of it were hazy it was hard to forget the immense pleasure she'd experienced. How Matt had been the one to give her that to the point where her body nearly gave out on her, Gabby thoroughly enjoying every single second of it as she felt that familiar pool of desire start to fill her stomach.

"Well, you didn't give me much of a choice." She breathed out, seeing his grin widen as his hand slid further and further down her body. "You were definitely… enthusiastic."

He chuckled deeply, Matt then pulling her closer forcing their hips together as a soft gasp left her lips. "You think you could handle me being that enthusiastic again?" He repeated her word with a proud gleam in his eye, Gabby letting her head fall to the side while she bit down on the inside of her cheek, the darkened look in his gaze making her knees weak.

"I could." She assured him, seeing an almost goofy grin break through his features before her tongue darted out between her teeth, the look now present in her eye causing his brows to furrow as he could soon tell there were a few different thoughts running through her mind. "...But I have another idea."

She didn't give him the chance to reply before she moved, Gabby putting enough distance between them to snake her hand down by their hips and grip onto him, her fist pumping around him methodically before he could even register what was happening.

"Gabby…" He groaned, the sound turning into a slight whimper when she focused her attention on his sensitive head for a few moments, before returning to her previous movements.

"Hmm?" She hummed back innocently, like she wasn't driving him absolutely crazy with each stroke.

"What… are you doing?" He asked between heavy breaths, his hand moving up to grip onto her breast as he just needed to feel any part of her he could.

She didn't respond at first, but instead just gradually picked up the pace of her hand, Matt's legs tensing as he could feel himself getting harder and harder within her grip. And she certainly felt it too, her slick grip helping her speed while he had to stop himself from bucking into her, the smile on her face growing as she couldn't help but be impressed by how rigid he was underneath her touch.

Though he wouldn't be for much longer.

"Nothing." She eventually replied, swiping her thumb over him just to hear the groan he let out, Matt having to hold onto her chest tighter while he fought to keep himself composed. "Just doing what you did for me last night."

Her wrist tightened as she spoke, while also starting to move quicker, the sudden change in tempo making his legs shake as she brought him closer and closer to what would be an almost embarrassingly quick release, if this wasn't the woman who had done this to him time and time again.

"Gabby." He said again, but she didn't respond while continuing her quick, yet patient strokes, Gabby staying steady for the next few moments before she quickly dropped herself to the ground in front of him. His eyes shot open when he felt her change in position, her wrist still keeping a firm hand on him as she looked up at him with a devilish gleam in her gaze.

"And I'm giving you something to think about while you're at work."

She barely let herself finish her own sentence before taking him into her mouth, her hand staying around his base while her lips teased him, the sensation causing him to smack his hand out towards the wall before he tried to grip onto it, desperately needing any sort of stability he could find.

"Fuck!" He shouted over the water, the feeling of her tight mouth around him sending shockwaves through his stomach as he instinctively brought his free hand down to her head, grabbing a fistful of hair while she continued to move.

She wasn't going too fast or slow, but just right, exactly how she knew to drive him crazy before her tongue ran along the underside of him.

"Jesus, Gabby-" He choked out, using all the willpower he had to not thrust himself into her as he knew this had to go at her pace.

Though, at the rate she was going, she had no problems with him making things a little rougher as she began to speed up on her own until she gagged around him, taking as much of him in as she could until he hit the back of her throat. But she never slowed down, Gabby only encouraging the movements as she had done this enough to not even be fazed by the way he filled her mouth, Gabby speeding up to the pace she knew he was desperate for as she was more than aware of how much she could handle.

And, maybe more so, she knew exactly how much he couldn't handle, which is how he found himself already teetering over that edge as she leaned into the way his hand was now guiding her.

He was close, maybe seconds away from letting go while Gabby kept up her now quick, yet steady pace, Matt trying to do anything he could to make this last as long as possible. But once he glanced down to find her looking up at him, with her mouth covering his entire length he knew he was a goner.

And he needed to make sure Gabby knew, too.

"Baby, I'm gonna-"

A sharp gasp cut him off as she did nothing but tighten her lips around him, silently telling him that she was ready for everything he had to give her while she continued her intense movements, the running water and steam surrounding them only adding to the heat between them as Matt gripped her hair tightly.

"Fuck… Fuck! Gabby.." He cried out just seconds before unloading down her throat, Gabby taking it all while she continued gliding over him, helping him through his finish until he was completely spent.

Her lips stayed around him, Gabby moving back and forth a few more times to ensure he'd gotten all out of this that he could before releasing him, letting him fall from her mouth. She moved the hand that had been holding him down to his thigh, rubbing over his skin gently while she watched him, seeing him fighting to catch his breath as his hand stayed gripped in her hair.

His breathing was shaky, his chest heaving as Gabby felt the muscles in his legs tensing every few seconds, his body fighting to calm down after the somewhat unexpected onslaught of pleasure.

It took a few moments, but soon enough Gabby saw him start to come back to her, Matt opening his eyes as he loosened his fist from her hair. But instead of letting go of her completely, he slid his hand down to her cheek, rubbing over her skin gently while she continued caressing his leg.

They stared at each other for a couple seconds, the soft smile on her face a complete contrast to what had just happened inside this shower as Matt slowly started to shake his head. "God, I love you." He breathed out, her smile widening while his thumb moved over her cheekbone, before he slowly reached down to help her to her feet.

It took a moment for her to regain some of the feeling in her legs, as sitting against the hard shower floor had reduced some of the blood flow to her limbs, but Matt made sure to keep her steady, his touch gentle and caring while he kept calming his breathing.

The air was quiet between them aside from the running water, their gazes focused intently on each other while he kept his hand on her, Matt unable to stop himself from taking her in. Her eyes were a little red, her lips swollen, but that content look never left her face, Casey reaching up to lightly rub his thumb over her bottom lip before he leaned in to kiss her.

For as intense as things had just been, this now was the complete opposite, Matt kissing her with a sweetness that made her stomach do flips until he regretfully pulled away. Though his hands stayed on her even when his lips couldn't, Matt running his palms along her stomach and sides before he started to carefully, yet abruptly turned them around until she was his position. But even then he didn't stop, Matt moving her body backwards till she was up against the tile wall. She shivered at the cold against her skin, looking back up at him just to see that familiar hunger returning to his gaze, her husband clearly having regained herself after what she'd just done.

"Matt…"

He silenced her with another longing kiss, one she reciprocated until he was suddenly gone, a rush of confusion flowing through her as she opened her eyes just in time to see him go down to his knees in front of her, similar to how she'd done for him.

She could feel her body get hot against the cold wall, her breath catching in her throat as she felt his large hand rest over her hip, before he carefully brought both of her legs up over her shoulders, supporting her weight on his body.

Gabby gasped at the quick movement, trying to prepare herself for what she knew was about to happen as from the determined look she could see covering his face, Matt was intent on returning the favor she'd just given him. Over and over again.

Which is exactly what he did.

"You think Herrmann would mind if we closed up early?"

Shay's voice broke Gabby from her thoughts as she stood by the liquor wall cleaning off a few glasses, the younger woman's head tilting to the side before a displeased look covered her face, while Shay continued her task of stacking a few cups.

"Herrmann's not here.." Gabby replied, while narrowing her eyes. "And you realize I own just as much of this place as he does, right?" She added on firmly, Shay merely shrugging in response.

"Okay then, so would you mind if we closed up early?" She rephased, Gabby rolling her eyes while scoffing softly. "Seriously, it's like the walking dead in here."

Shay had a point, Gabby aware of how aside from her and her partner, there was no one here other than a few regulars. And probably wouldn't be for a while, given how it was the middle of the week. But that didn't mean she was going to end the night early because of it.

"We're not gonna close, Shay." She replied, hearing her huff before she went back to work.

"Fine." The blonde gave in, Gabby smiling softly as the two friends continued on with their task.

Only moments later, Dawson's phone that was sitting on the back counter buzzed between them, Gabby in no rush to reach for it as she kept on working. That was until Shay decided to grab it.

"Oh, look." She said, prompting Gabby to look up just as she picked up her phone. "Lover boy's texting."

Dawson's eyes widened the moment she registered her words before she instantly reached out to get her phone, before her friend could read whatever had been sent. Though the movement was so abrupt it took Shay by surprise, prompting the older woman to take a step back.

"Whoa there." Shay commented while holding onto the phone, though she hadn't yet glanced at it while she focused on her friend, her brows raising when she noticed the sheepish look that covered Gabby's features. "What? You expecting a picture of his dick or something?" She teased, waiting for some sort of sarcastic response from Dawson. But it never came, instead she only looked down to the ground, that alone giving her enough of an answer as Shay pretended to gag. "Oh, God. At work?" She asked her, shaking her head while holding the phone out from her body, like she was disgusted by it.

"Would you calm down, I'm not expecting that from him." Gabby clarified, thankful that her screen had at least gone black. "I just…" She trailed off, clearing her throat before she glanced around, ensuring that none of the few patrons here were within ear shot. "I may have sent him some… pictures, a little bit ago." She spoke, Shay immediately smirking as her head fell to the side. "And so whatever those responses are-"

"I don't want to see it." Shay finished for her, Gabby giving her a lighthearted look before shaking her head. "I get it, I don't need to see your and Casey's sexts."

Dawson rolled her eyes as Shay handed over the phone, Gabby quickly taking a hold of it. "No, you definitely don't." She replied, earning a laugh from her friend before Gabby began to quickly scan over the messages from her husband, her eyes widening at a few of them before she soon put her phone back down.

"Oh, I can only imagine what he said." Shay told her, shaking her head in amusement at the flustered look on Gabby's face, knowing it must've taken a lot to get her like that. "But you two are cute… Even when you're being a whore." She teased her, Gabby letting out a quiet scoff before she laughed.

"Thank you… I think." She responded, the two sharing a knowing smile before Gabby moved her attention back to the phone in her hands and opened up the messages from her husband.

It took a few moments for her to get past his appreciative, and rather expletive words, Gabby biting down on her lip while she thought over how to respond to him. And all while she did, she didn't notice how Shay was watching her, the soft smile on her face being missed by Dawson while she texted her husband.

"You know, I really will never get tired of seeing you so happy."

Gabby looked up quickly, not expecting those sincere words from her friend. Especially not after their previous conversation. But they made her smile nonetheless, Dawson's face softening as she slid her phone back into her pocket.

"I mean, I know you two have always been like, deliriously happy. I don't know if I've ever seen any two people who just go together the way you all do. But it's nice to see you like this." She continued on, Gabby's smile widening as Shay reached out to rub her arm. "You and Matt doing so well, now trying for a baby and everything…" She trailed off, Dawson having a hard time fighting off the tears threatening to fill her eyes as Shay's sweet sentiment washed over her.

This wasn't the first time as of late that a conversation with Shay had made her emotional, in fact it was far from it as ever since Gabby shared the news with her best friend, that her and Matt were trying to have a baby, her friend had been completely over the moon for them.

Though Gabby knew nothing would ever be able to beat how it felt to tell her parents about her and Matt's decision, telling Shay had been a close second, as sharing that with her had involved a lot of tears and screaming, and complete joy from her partner. And of course, a little bit of teasing, as it would be Shay if she didn't. But overall, she was just so thrilled for them, and it made moments like this that much better. Knowing she had nothing but love and support from her best friend, someone who knew how big of a deal this was for them, Dawson appreciated it more than she could ever put into words.

"But I can just see how happy you two are right now, trying for a little Casey." She continued on lightly, Gabby letting out a watery laugh before she nodded. "And I'm so glad for that."

Gabby paused for a moment, giving herself time to take a breath before she moved to pull her friend in for a hug. One that she reciprocated, even if it took her by surprise at first.

"Thank you, Shay." She murmured, feeling the blonde hold onto her a little tighter while rubbing over her back.

"You're welcome, honey." She said, the two letting go seconds later with soft smiles over their faces. "Although I'm just stating the obvious, I mean everyone can see how happy you two have been lately." She added on lightly, Gabby chuckling once more while leaning her weight back into the bar. "Though no one else really knows why."

"Yeah, I've picked up on that a little bit." She replied, earning a knowing look from her friend.

"I think they all noticed that change in you guys. I mean, I did before I knew what was going on, and though the guys at the house aren't the most observant, after all you've been through I know we all kind of pay more attention to you when things are going on." Shay explained, Gabby drawing in a breath before she nodded. "So they know something's up, I'm pretty sure."

"I'm sure they do, but they're gonna have to wait a little longer." Gabby replied without missing a beat, before Shay laughed. "I love the guys, don't get me wrong. But I'm not gonna broadcast that Matt and I are trying to have a baby."

"You don't want them to know you're fucking like bunnies." She deadpanned, Gabby scoffing a bit before giving her a look.

"It's just not necessary that they know." She continued on. "We've told you and Severide, and our parents… Once I'm pregnant, we'll tell everyone. Of course we will. But right now, there's not really anyone else that needs to know."

"I get it, babe." Shay responded, breaking through her teasing before Gabby gave her a thankful smile. "Really, I do. It's no one's business but yours and Matt's."

"Yeah, and then cause the more people we tell, it just feels like there's this… pressure, almost. Of everyone waiting for me to get pregnant."

"Oh, there definitely would be." Shay agreed with a nod. "Everyone would mean well, but you know it would become a bet around the house. Of when you get pregnant… Which, if Casey is doing his job right, should be soon anyway." She joked, Gabby rolling her eyes in response.

"He's doing his job just fine, thank you."

"Only fine?" She shot back, Gabby shooting her a glare before she reached out to lightly smack her arm.

"Uh, what are you guys doing?" Casey's voice suddenly hit their ears, Gabby and Shay both turning to see Matt standing there on the other side of the counter. Neither of them had heard him come in, or even knew he was coming right now, Gabby smiling softly just from his presence while Shay simply smirked.

"Talking about your sperm." The older paramedic replied without missing a beat, Matt's head tilting to the side before he let out a quiet chuckle.

"Why does that not surprise me, of course you are." He said back, Shay's grin widening proudly before he returned his attention back to his wife, who was still smiling at him. "Hi baby." He greeted easily, lifting himself up over the bar enough to give her a quick kiss.

"Hi… I didn't realize you'd be here already." She replied, Matt matching her smile before he nodded, his palms resting over the top of the bar.

"Yeah, my job was just around the corner." He told her, Gabby vaguely remembering him telling her that earlier as he cleared his throat, sparing a quick glance towards Shay. "And, uh… I saw your messages once I got done, and wanted to come see you."

Shay couldn't help the laugh that left her lips, Matt's eyebrows furrowing as Gabby brought her hand up to cover her face.

"Oh lover boy, I know all about those pictures Gabby sent." She told him, Casey nearly choking on his breath before he looked towards his wife.

"She didn't see them." Gabby was quick to clarify, Matt feeling his heart rate calm a bit before he nodded.

"No, unfortunately I didn't." Shay sighed dramatically, prompting Dawson to reach out and smack her arm once more. But she wasn't fazed. "Those were for your eyes only."

"And always will be." Matt interjected, Gabby fighting on a smirk as he stood there proudly.

"Yeah, yeah keep bragging." Shay waved him off, while Casey laughed. "Although you know, if you keep this up, Gabby will be carrying little baby Casey here soon… maybe starting tonight." She teased, Matt scoffing lightly while Gabby shook her head. "Which is the goal anyway. Though could you imagine if she got pregnant that soon, and Gabby was carrying your offspring by your anniversary." She continued on, Dawson giving her a look while Matt simply watched on in amusement.

It was no secret that Gabby and Matt's first wedding anniversary was coming up here in a couple weeks, and while the husband and wife had been looking forward to it, clearly it had been on Shay's mind as well.

"I mean, I know you two didn't technically start trying until a few weeks ago, but the way you've always gone at it…"

"Okay, okay." Gabby cut her off, Matt biting back a chuckle while Shay smirked knowingly. "We don't need to keep talking about this."

"Fine, I'll leave it alone… But it's only a few weeks away, so get to work Casey." She replied while pointing towards him, causing him to lift his hands up in defense.

"Trust me, I am." He responded, earning a disproving look from his wife while Shay grimaced.

"Gross." She muttered, Matt cocking his head to the side.

"Weren't you just the one talking about my sperm?" He countered, getting a shrug from her as she continued by Dawson.

"Still gross." Shay replied, tapping her hip against Gabby's before moving further down the bar, leaving the couple alone for the first time since earlier in the day.

"She's in fine form tonight." Matt spoke with a laugh, Gabby shaking her head before meeting his gaze.

"She usually is." She replied, Casey nodding knowingly as she placed her hand over his on top of the bar. "So, your job went okay?"

He smiled back at her. "It was good, everything went well." Matt told her, seeing her match his look for a moment before she nodded. "And they paid me, which is even better."

Gabby let out a soft laugh, rubbing her hand along the top of his as he gave her a wink. "Well, as your wife I'm glad for that." She replied, Casey releasing a chuckle of his own before he moved to kiss her once more.

"How was your day?" He asked as they pulled back, Gabby drawing in a breath before shrugging.

"It was fine… Did some laundry, put clothes away. Cleaned up around the house a bit." She listed off everything, Matt nodding as he listened intently. "And then I came here with Shay." Gabby finished, her eyes glancing towards the back of the bar where her friend had gone, Matt watching her every movement.

But when she never looked away, he couldn't help the bit of confusion that covered his features, his gaze moving between them before refocusing on his wife.

"You okay?" He asked her, pulling her from her thoughts as she looked back at him.

"Huh?"

"I asked if you were alright…" He repeated himself once realizing she hadn't heard him, Gabby's face softening before she nodded.

"Oh, yeah. I'm fine." She told him, though her words weren't entirely convincing. "I was just thinking about what Shay said." Gabby added on, knowing she had no reason to lie to her husband.

"The anniversary thing?" He checked, seeing her nod again. "Well, she's just excited." He said with a laugh, Gabby shaking her head a bit while a smile began to form.

"Uh huh, she sure is… So much so that she's putting a date on us getting pregnant." She joked, Casey's grin widening as he grabbed ahold of her hand. "Though I hope you're not expecting me to be pregnant by our anniversary." She added on, Matt immediately shaking his head as even though they were joking around with one another, there was something in her tone telling him that this one particular thing didn't need to be teased about.

"Not at all." He replied quickly, Gabby taking in another breath before she nodded.

His eyes traced over her features, Casey letting out a soft sigh before letting go of her hand, leaving Gabby a bit confused as to what he was doing. But when she saw him start to walk back towards the end of the bar closest to them she understood, Dawson turning towards him as he moved around the corner and came to stand in front of her. Before saying a word his hands grabbed ahold of hers, Gabby looking over him while he gave her a gentle, loving smile.

"I'm not expecting anything from you." He assured her, Gabby's face softening as her teeth ran over her bottom lip. "I never would, not like this. And all I'm gonna be focused on during our anniversary is the fact that I've been married to the most beautiful, wonderful woman for a year." Matt continued on, her entire body flooding with warmth as he spoke genuinely. "And how we have a lifetime ahead of us together. That's what I care about."

Things went quiet between them for a moment, Matt letting his promises sink in before she slowly began to nod, that small smile returning to her lips as she pushed herself up to kiss him. It was soft, and sweet, Matt holding onto her a little tighter until they separated.

"I need you to know that." He added as Gabby looked back up at him, his gentle demeanor practically making her fall in love with him all over again as her husband continued to help her.

Though things were much better for her since going to the doctor, Matt still never missed any opportunity to reassure her about this. Not even just them having a baby, but where he stood. How she was still the most important thing to him in all of it, no matter how excited they were. He was just always there to make sure she wasn't getting too caught up in her own head, and that had helped maybe even more than she realized.

"There's not a timetable on this… When it's meant to happen, it'll happen." He finished, Gabby nodding once more before she leaned in for another kiss. One that held more than her words could say as they gripped onto each other for a few long seconds, until regretfully pulling back.

Before saying anything, he looked her over one last time, silently making sure she'd truly heard him before that soft Casey grin returned to his lips.

"You good?" He checked, Gabby nodding as she held onto his hand.

"I'm good."

"Good… Now, do you need me to do anything around here?" He offered, Gabby smiling softly as her head tilted to the side.

"You don't mind to work some more after working all day?"

"For you? Never." He said easily, Gabby's smile widening before she nodded towards the back room.

"I think there's some trash in the back that needs to be taken out, if you don't care." She told him, Matt shaking his head before moving to press a kiss to her forehead.

"I'm on it." He told her after pulling away, giving her hand one last squeeze before he headed to the back of the bar, leaving Gabby upfront to watch him leave as in this moment, and every moment really, she couldn't help but think about how incredibly lucky she was to have him. To have her husband by her side, for him to be her partner in life.

And that was something she would never take for granted.
