Hey guys! I'm here with the next update for you all. In this one, we're gonna get a bit of a look into Dawsey's anniversary and how that's going. And I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.
Hope you all have a great rest of your week, and I'll see you next time!
ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY SIX
"Dawson!" Shay's voice filtered from down the bar where she stood beside Herrmann, Gabby glancing that way while standing beside her husband, who was currently seated on one of the bar stools. "If you could stop letting lover boy grope you for a bit and come help us, that would be great."
Her words were loud enough for the many patrons between them to hear, the bar goers clearly amused while Gabby rolled her eyes. And while Matt found her teasing a bit funny too, he wasn't going to comment on it, Casey only attempting to hold back his laughter as Gabby stepped back from his hold.
"She can never just ask for help like a normal person." Dawson spoke, feeling Matt's hand lingering low on her hip until she stepped away from him completely, and began to make her way back around behind the bar. "I guess I'm gonna go see what she wants."
"Yeah, you really should get to work." Severide joked from his spot in between Casey and Stella, earning nothing more than a quick glare from Gabby as she passed them.
"I love you babe, I'll be here when you're done." Casey called after her, seeing the immediate effect his simple statement had on her as her face softened, before she gave him a gentle nod, Gabby then turning away from him to go help her friend.
Matt watched her the entire way, the soft grin never leaving his lips as he saw her get to Shay, the two women soon laughing with one another while they served drinks to the many customers in here tonight.
"Trying to keep the wife happy, eh?" Severide spoke up a moment or two later, amusement evident in his voice as Matt reluctantly looked away from Gabby to find a shit-eating grin resting over Kelly's face.
"Kelly." Stella spoke warningly, Severide letting out a soft laugh before shaking his head.
"What? I'm just saying, he's laying it on a little thick there." Kelly continued to tease him, Matt watching as Stella rolled her eyes before tapping him on the shoulder.
"Or he's just being nice to his girl." She challenged him, Casey's smile widening after he caught Severide's gaze.
"Yeah, you should try it sometime." Matt added on without missing a beat, Severide huffing out a breath while Stella fought to hide her laughter. "I still have no idea how you put up with him, Stella."
"Some days I don't either." She teased, Kelly releasing a scoff while looking back and forth between them.
"You know, when I decided to introduce you two I didn't realize I'd have my girlfriend and best friend ganging up on me all the time." Severide feigned annoyance, though it only amused Matt and Stella more.
"Sorry babe." Kidd replied, rubbing her hand up and down his arm.
"I'm not." Matt continued on quickly, seeing Severide bring his hand up to flip him off while Casey took a sip of his beer. "And, by the way, I have no issues keeping my wife happy." He corrected his earlier comment, prompting Kelly to grimace.
"Gross." He muttered, Matt chuckling softly before taking another drink.
"I'm just saying. And you're the one who brought it up in the first place." Casey defended with a shrug, seeing Stella let out another laugh while Kelly huffed.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm regretting it now."
"Imagine that." Matt joked back, him and Stella sharing one last laugh as Severide glared between them, before shifting the conversation.
"Anyway, moving to a less disgusting topic… Since we're speaking about the wife, we should talk about the big day that's coming up here soon." He prompted, Kelly seeing the unapologetic smile that formed over Matt's face before he looked down towards his lap. "Just a couple days, man."
"Mhmm." Casey hummed back.
"What big day?" Stella asked, clearly out of the loop as both Matt and Kelly looked at her.
"Their wedding anniversary is in a couple days, him and Dawson." Severide said with an equally as noticeable smile, pointing towards Matt after he spoke.
"Aww, that's so sweet." Stella replied genuinely, glancing down the bar towards Gabby before returning her focus to Casey. And it was then she noticed him too watching Dawson, the grin on his face only bigger than the last time she saw it as there was nothing but complete love and adoration in his gaze. "How long have you two been married again?"
Her question pulled him from his trance, Matt sparing one last longing look towards his wife before he moved his gaze back to Severide and Kidd. "We've been married for a year." He replied proudly, happiness radiating off of him while he continued to talk to Stella.
"That's so great, congratulations you guys." She told him, earning a grateful nod from Casey.
"Yeah, the two of them have made it a year… Which is insane to think about, that it's been that long already." Kelly interjected, as Matt placed his beer bottle down onto the counter. "And you know what they say, the first year of marriage is the toughest. So you all should be golden from here on out." He added on lightly, Casey unable to stop himself from rolling his eyes before letting out a scoff.
"You get so close to saying something nice…" He trailed off, Stella and Kelly both letting out quiet laughs as Matt adjusted himself in his seat. "But you know what, if that's true then I'll take it. Because overall, our first year of marriage was pretty damn great." Matt replied, seeing Severide's head lean to the side.
"You two did do pretty well, I'd say… Between going to Italy, your promotion. Buying a house together." Kelly listed a few things off, Matt's grin widening with every word. "It was about as perfect as it could get. Aside from, you know…"
Casey's smile soon turned into a grimace as he knew exactly what Kelly was referring to, both men sharing somber, yet knowing looks before Matt saw what almost looked to be regret in Severide's eyes. Like he was hesitant if he should've even mentioned it.
"What?" Stella eventually asked, as the only one of them who didn't know what was going on.
Severide paused momentarily, catching Casey's gaze before raising his eyebrows, like he was silently asking for permission to explain it to her. Which Matt soon gave, the man nodding before reaching for his beer once more.
"Do you, um… do you remember hearing about that shooting at the recreational center? Last year?" Kelly asked her, Stella's eyebrows furrowing as she nodded.
"I do, yeah. It was all over the news, and around the department. It sounded awful." She breathed out, not yet making the connection as to why Severide was bringing it up. "So many people died, and got hurt… Then we all heard about a paramedic who almost died." She continued on, Matt's throat tightening as he took a long sip of his drink. "And then there was the firefighter, from the same house I think. He got shot to, and-"
Stella stopped herself almost abruptly the moment it clicked, her face falling sadly as her focus went back towards Casey, who slowly found her gaze.
"...Oh." She spoke a few long seconds later, Matt only nodding as Severide sighed.
"Yeah, that was Dawson." Kelly spoke up quietly while looking over towards Gabby, who was, thankfully, oblivious to the conversation from across the bar. "The paramedic, it was her. It was pretty soon after they got married. And Matt was the firefighter…"
"Who got shot." Casey finished for him, his voice a bit rough until he cleared his throat as this wasn't exactly a memory he liked to relive. "We both did. But Gabby, she… It was bad."
Stella and Kelly both stayed quiet for a few seconds, the couple glancing sadly at one another before she spoke up. "That's… I'm so sorry, Matt." She told him, but he simply shrugged, Matt finishing off what little was left of his beer before he responded.
"It's okay, it is what it is. And after everything that happened that day, as far as I'm concerned Gabby and I were the lucky ones." He told her, Stella smiling sadly as she nodded. "So yeah, that's what Kelly was talking about, but we're both okay now… And overall though, as hard and scary as it was, that's really been the only bad thing that's happened since we got married. Everything else has been incredible." Matt continued on as that small, yet genuine smile returned to his lips, Stella getting the sense that he didn't necessarily want to talk about that painful day any longer.
And she completely understood why.
"Gabby and I love being married, and like he said we bought a house a couple months ago. We're planning out our future, everything has been great… This first year of our marriage has been better than I ever could've thought. And it makes me even more excited for all the years we have left together." He rambled out, the mood around them having shifted completely as Stella and Kelly both noticed the light in him while Matt spoke of his wife.
"You two are so adorable." Stella complimented, Severide nodding in agreement as Casey ducked his head. "Like the perfect couple."
"Eh, I don't know about that." Matt spoke, but Kidd shook her head.
"From what I can tell, you are… Are you doing anything special for your anniversary?" She pressed on, seeing the way his grin grew even more, this one reaching his eyes. "I take it that's a yes?" She asked with a laugh.
"It would have to be, Casey got him and Dawson a shift off." Kelly spoke up with a smirk, Matt cocking his head to the side.
"How did you know that?" Casey questioned with a narrowed gaze, though Severide wasn't fazed by it.
"Boden told me." He replied simply, Matt letting out a dry laugh before he nodded. "But because you need time off work, I'm guessing you have some big elaborate plans for Dawson. You usually do."
"Yeah, maybe so. But this time it's nothing too crazy." Casey told him, those simple words peaking Kelly's interest.
"So you have planned something?" He questioned, earning nothing but an unimpressed look from his best friend.
"You're kidding, right? Of course I have." Matt responded, pulling laughs from both Kelly and Stella.
"I knew it, so what are you doing?" Severide pushed on, Matt drawing in a deep breath before his eyes found Gabby across the bar yet again.
She was currently serving a customer, but after handing him the glass it was like she could sense Matt's eyes on her, Gabby almost immediately looking his way. Their gazes locked, Matt seeing the way her smile lit up as they found one another, his face likely mirroring hers while they stared at the other for a few more seconds before she had to go back to work.
"...Gabby doesn't know about this yet." Matt started while still looking at his wife, before glancing back to his friends. "It's a surprise, so please don't say anything. But she's always loved going up to the lake, so I rented us a place there. About an hour away." He explained to them, Kelly smiling widely while Stella watched him with a soft look on her face. "We're gonna head up there the day after tomorrow and have a few days together, just us. To celebrate our anniversary."
"Oh my God, that's so cute." Stella gushed while clutching onto Kelly's arm, Matt releasing a hearty laugh before he shrugged. "She'll love that."
"I hope so, yeah. We've done it a few times since we got together, and had a nice time. So I figured it would be good. I know it's not as big or elaborate as I've done in the past, but-"
"Gabby's gonna love it, man." Kelly stopped him, his simple words holding a lot of weight as the men looked at one another. "Trust me, she will… And you know Dawson better than anyone, that's perfect for you two."
"Thanks, Sev."
"No problem." He said, while clasping Casey on the shoulder. "I know you two will have a good time. And how could you not, being up there all alone for days." He added on suggestively, the shift in his tone almost instant as Severide rarely could help himself from any opportunity to mess with his friends.
"Oh brother." Casey got out before Kelly smirked.
"What? You know it's the truth… You two are really doubling down on that baby making efforts, huh?" He asked him lightheartedly, Matt scoffing in response. Though it was hard for him to stop the smile forming over his face.
But the woman beside them had a much different reaction, as both Kelly and Matt heard the moment she gasped, before her eyes found Casey.
"Wait, you two are..?" She asked, clear confusion mixed with excitement laced in her words as Matt glanced towards Kelly. Who, for the second time tonight, had an obvious hint of regret shining in his eyes.
"Shit, man. Sorry." He apologized to Casey, but Matt simply shook his head, signaling that it was alright as Stella watched them with furrowed brows. Picking up on her uncertainty, Kelly let out a quiet breath before looking back towards Stella. "Him and Gabby are trying to have a baby. But they weren't wanting to tell anyone." He explained, seeing the bits of excitement and understanding written across her face.
"It's fine, really." Matt replied with a wave of his hand, regaining their attention. "Gabby just didn't want to broadcast it around the house or anything. It's all sort of a…delicate topic, but I doubt she'd mind you knowing." He continued on, while also making a mental note to tell his wife about this later once they got home, as while his words were true and he didn't think she'd mind Stella knowing, he also didn't want to keep it from her.
"Well, I'm sorry Kelly can't keep his mouth shut," Kidd started, causing Matt to chuckle as Kelly feigned offense. "But that is so exciting, I'm really happy for you guys." She told him, the two sharing more smiles as Casey rested his forearm across the bar.
"Thanks Stella, we're excited, too… Really excited." He responded, earning a congratulatory nod from her before his attention was pulled back behind the bar when he noticed Gabby walking towards them. "Hey baby." He greeted once she was close enough, his demeanor completely shifting as he was happy to be back with his wife.
"Hi… Did I miss anything exciting down here?" She asked once she got to them before placing a fresh beer down on the bar in front of her husband, Matt giving her a thankful smile as he reached for it.
"Not really," Severide said with a shrug. "Casey here was just telling us all about your anniversary plans." He explained, Gabby's eyebrows raising as her head fell to the side, before she glanced towards Matt.
"Oh really? You got him to tell you?" She asked, prompting Stella to laugh in response. "Cause he still has said nothing to me."
"Yup. He spilled the beans." Severide continued on, Matt shaking his head before bringing the new bottle of beer up to his lips. "Better get ready, Dawson. It's big."
"You're such a damn instigator." Casey interjected, Gabby biting back a laugh before refocusing on Severide.
"Well go ahead then, Kelly. Tell me." She played along, Kelly grinning before he leaned forward in his seat.
"Alright, I'll tell you… For your anniversary, he said something about ordering a pizza and then coming over to watch some football with me." He told her, Gabby laughing once more as Matt shook his head in amusement, before the spouses looked at one another.
"...I did at least say I'd eat the pizza with you." He teased her, Dawson fighting off her growing smile before she gave him a playful glare.
"Ha ha." She responded dryly, Matt copying her grin while he reached out to grab ahold of her hand. And Gabby gave it willingly, the two staring at one another like there was no one else in the room.
"Yeah, we better get out of here before they get gross." Severide huffed out, downing the last of his drink before standing up from the bar stool, prompting Kidd to do the same. "Come on Stella, let's go make Shay make us more drinks."
"Alright." She agreed before the couple took a step back. "It was great seeing you guys, and congrats again on your anniversary."
"Thank you." Matt told her, Gabby nodding in agreement before Kelly and Stella left to go find Shay, leaving the spouses alone for the first time since arriving tonight.
"I didn't think we'd actually run them off." Gabby joked, Matt grinning back at her while stroking his thumb along the back of her hand.
"Right? I haven't even started kissing you yet, all it took was holding hands for them to up and run." He played back, Gabby laughing in response as she leaned some of her weight forward into the bar to be closer to him.
"Well, they probably knew that was coming." She replied without missing a beat, her nose scrunching up as she spoke while Matt watched her, the two then going quiet for a moment before Gabby continued on. "So…" She started, the way she drug the word out regaining his attention. "What are our anniversary plans?" Gabby questioned, seeing her husband then laugh back at her. But he never said anything, Dawson waiting a few more seconds before she pushed on. "Oh come on, you're really not gonna tell me?"
"Nope." He answered quickly, the annoying and proud grin on his face only widening.
"Will you at least tell me what I need to pack?" She tried a different tactic. "All I know is we're gonna be gone for a few days."
"That's all you really need to know, isn't it?" Matt replied, Gabby narrowing her eyes lightly in his direction before he let out a laugh. "Alright, alright. Let's see… I need you to bring you, for starters." He told her, Gabby letting out a scoff before she waved her free hand in the air, prompting him to continue. "And I wouldn't object to you bringing that red lingerie you know I love so much." Matt added on, Gabby biting down roughly on her bottom lip as heat filled her face. "You know, that little see through dress, with the bottoms that have a hole right over your-"
"Okay, okay." She cut him off, silently praying the people around them hadn't heard his words as Matt released a hearty laugh, before giving her hand a squeeze. "I know what you're talking about, and I'll bring them."
"Perfect." He responded quickly, Gabby shaking her head while clearing her throat.
"And, uh… anything else?" She questioned, Matt pretending to think deeply for a few moments before slowly shaking his head.
"No, I don't think so… I mean, what else would you even need?" He asked playfully, seeing her scoff in amusement while he continued to hold onto her hand.
"Very funny." Gabby said, Casey letting out another easy laugh before shifting closer to her.
"I'm only teasing, baby. But really, you don't need to pack much. I can even get together few things for you. This is going to be a very… low key celebration." He explained to her, seeing her think over his words before she nodded. "Just you and me, together. Nothing fancy, or crazy. Just us."
The softness of his words made her smile, Gabby's heart rate picking up a bit in her chest as she couldn't think of anything better than the idea of getting that time with her husband.
"Well, if that's the case, then it sounds absolutely perfect to me." She responded, Matt giving her another heart-clenching smile before he pushed himself up over the bar to where he could kiss her.
The movement was abrupt, but soft, Matt kissing her with that usual sweetness that made her knees weak before he pulled back. But he never went too far, his softened eyes watching her while she smiled up at him, the couple so completely lost in one another that they had blocked out everything else going on around them.
"I love you." She broke their silence, those simple words causing his face to light up while he tightened his hold on her hand, the two content to stay here for just a few more moments.
"I love you too… More than anything."
"Can I open my eyes yet?"
Matt tried to fight off the growing smile forming over his face when he heard his wife's complaints for what had to have been the fifth time in the last few minutes. But if anything, it just amused him more while he continued to drive them down the dirt road.
They were minutes from their destination, the couple having left Chicago earlier this morning and setting off for their anniversary trip. And, true to his word, Matt still hadn't told Gabby where they were going. He had managed to keep his secret, the man even helping her pack as promised, since she didn't know what she was packing for. But in all the chaos of them getting ready and leaving their home for a few days, he never once let it slip, though Gabby had tried. And now that they were almost there, Casey was trying to have a little more fun with this while he could, to the point where he'd had Gabby close her eyes until they arrived.
"Nope." He answered her question, hearing her let out an annoyed huff before leaning her head back towards the seat. Though she still kept her eyes closed, that alone telling Matt she was enjoying this more than she wanted to let on.
"Fine." She breathed out, Matt's smirk growing while he returned his focus back out towards the road, not wanting to miss his entrance to the property. "...What about now?" She asked not even a minute later, Casey chuckling deeply before he reached out to give her arm a loving squeeze.
"No, not yet babe. I'll tell you when, but for now just keep them closed… Don't make me get out the blindfold." He teased her, Gabby releasing a laugh of her own while leaning her head towards him, all while keeping her eyes closed per his request.
"You brought the blindfold, huh?" She questioned, focusing on the feeling of his hand against her skin as he recognized the teasing tone in her voice. "We might have to use that later."
Matt shook his head though she couldn't see it, her words sending a rush of warmth through him before he shifted himself in the driver's seat, the man suddenly glad her eyes were closed so she couldn't see the way he was gripping the steering wheel.
"Oh, we will definitely be using that while we're here." He replied strongly, hearing her sweet laugh once more while his thumb moved along the side of her arm. "I have very specific plans for that blindfold."
"Sounds fun." She continued to tease him, Matt sure she knew how much she was riling him up.
"It will be." He said back without a thought, hearing her sweet laugh once more before he continued on. "But that was meant for later… If you don't stop asking to open your eyes, I'm gonna have to pull it out a lot sooner."
"You'll be pulling something out, alright." She murmured, Casey choking on the breath in his lungs at her less than subtle innuendo, her laughter filling the truck once more as he began to shake his head.
"Gabby…" He said with a chuckle.
"Fine, fine." She gave in, turning her head back forward while keeping her eyes shut, Matt glancing towards her with the biggest grin on her face before he looked back out towards the road.
It was only a few more minutes before he was turning up the driveway to the secluded and quaint home close to the water, the view gorgeous enough to where Matt was tempted to have Gabby go ahead and open her eyes. But knowing they'd be seeing this a lot over the next few days he decided against it, Matt instead holding onto her arm a little more securely as he came to a stop at the end of the driveway.
"...Are we here?" Gabby asked him somewhat hesitantly, Matt turning to look at her before he nodded. Even though she couldn't see him.
"We're here." He replied, leaning over to press a soft kiss to her cheek while unclasping her seatbelt. "Now wait here."
"Of course you're still not going to let me open my eyes." She said, Matt smirking in response before he killed the engine and unbuckled himself, Casey then getting out of the truck and jogging around to her side before opening her door.
Before either of them said a word Matt gently reached out for her hand, Gabby taking his willingly as even when she couldn't see him, there was just something so comforting to her about her husband's presence, Dawson knowing there was no one else she would trust this implicitly.
"Alright, can you get out of the car? I've got you." He assured her, his soft promises bringing a smile to her face before she slowly climbed out of Matt's truck.
Between the familiarity of the movement, and Casey's guidance, she was able to get onto solid ground with ease, Matt never letting go of her hand as he shut the door and began to move her a few steps forward.
"Okay, I guess now's the time." He spoke lightly, though Gabby was able to pick up on a bit of nerves hiding in his voice. Ones that she could only imagine were coming from her reaction to whatever his surprise was, Gabby quietly wishing they hadn't been there as no matter what this was, she knew she'd love it. Because her husband was the one who had done it for her. "You can open your eyes."
She felt his hand wrap around his waist as he spoke, Dawson already smiling before she slowly opened her eyes. It took a moment for her vision to adjust, but once it did and she saw the beautiful, homey building in front of them, surrounded by nothing but a calm lake, she couldn't help but smile.
This place was gorgeous, and from the lack of noise around them she knew how secluded they must've been, Gabby feeling a sense of complete peace wash over her as she learned further into her husband's side.
"Oh Matt, this is so beautiful." She breathed out, hearing him laugh softly before pressing a kiss to the side of her head.
"You like it?"
"I love it, baby… We're gonna be staying here?" She asked him, feeling him nod against her before kissing her once more.
"We are. It's just gonna be me, you, and the lake for three days." He responded, Gabby's eyes closing in contentment as she wrapped her arm around his torso. "It's probably a little too cold to swim, but the weather is supposed to be nice. Not too cold yet, and I thought this would be a good place for us to spend our anniversary… With no one around to bother us." He explained to her, Gabby's smile only widening while she lifted her head up to look at him. "We'll have some peace and quiet, and just be able to enjoy our anniversary. And we can-"
His words were cut off by Gabby pulling him into her, her lips on his before he could even register what was happening. But he soon recovered, Matt tightening his hold around her waist and kissing her back with as much strength as he had, neither of them stopping until air became an issue.
"...I love it so much." She said between breaths, trying to regain some of the air she'd lost as Matt smiled softly, before pressing a much softer kiss against her lips. "And I love you so much, thank you for this baby. It's perfect. It's so, so perfect."
Her gratitude towards him was enough to make him fall in love with her all over again, as Matt was just so glad to know she enjoyed his surprise for her. And not only that, but they'd enjoy this time here together, away from everything and everyone else where they could do nothing but celebrate this monumental time in their lives.
"I love you, too." He told her, feeling her smile before their lips pressed together once more, their every emotion being put into this moment until they reluctantly pulled apart. "...You wanna go look around?" Matt offered, Gabby's smile widening before she nodded brightly. "Alright, come on." He replied just as gently, regaining the hold he had on her hand before leading her up towards the home, both of them just as eager to get inside and see where they'd be spending their next few days together.
Casey released a relaxed breath as he sat back on the couch in the cozy living room, the chill out in the late September air enough for him to have started a fire earlier in the night, as now Matt was just basking in the quiet while he thought over his and Gabby's first day here at the lake.
And it had been, in a word, incredible.
After they arrived and took a quick look around the home, which was even more wonderful than either of them could have imagined, they took some time to walk around the property. Specifically around the lake, as this place had some of the most gorgeous views and scenery they had maybe ever seen, Gabby and Matt taking their time enjoying all this place had to offer before they headed back in and began to plan for the next couple days.
As Matt had promised, he had no intentions of being anywhere other than this house with her. And Gabby was more than fine with that, as all she wanted for their anniversary was to be with him. But in order to do that, a trip to the store was a necessity, as not only did they have nothing to really eat or drink here with them, but Matt had planned out quite the meal to prepare for his wife on their anniversary, and in order to do that they'd definitely need to go grocery shopping.
So after putting a few things away and getting themselves situated, the couple headed back into town to the store, stopping to get any possible thing they'd need over the next few days. Even a few things that weren't necessarily needed, but things Gabby wanted, they got it all to ensure they'd have enough to last their stay.
Then once they had completed that task, they wasted no time in getting back to the house, as all they wanted to do was lock themselves inside and soak up as much time together as possible while they were here. Which was exactly what they did, Gabby and Matt putting the groceries away before deciding to make a few homemade pizzas for dinner, the couple then finishing off their night with a movie and some wine on the couch.
And now that it was nearing midnight, Matt was more than ready to get up and head to bed with his wife. But seeing as how she'd gotten up a little bit ago to take a shower, as soon as their movie finished, he figured he'd wait for her here, as the last thing he wanted to do was to go to sleep without her. So here he sat, in a pair of boxers and a plain t-shirt with his gaze halfway focused on the television while he listened to the sounds of Gabby moving around the bedroom.
He'd heard the shower turn off a little bit ago, knowing now she was likely getting ready for bed, Matt fine to wait for her here while he let himself sink deeper and deeper into the sofa until she eventually stepped back out into the living room.
The second he saw her he couldn't help but smile as he took in the sight of her in her robe, the material tied loosely around her waist while her damp hair fell down over her shoulders.
"How was the shower?" He asked as she continued towards him with a small smile on her face.
"Amazing." She replied, Matt laughing softly while holding out his hand in her direction, like he was guiding her to him. "Though I'm starting to regret letting you pack for me."
"Why is that?" He questioned back once she got to him, Gabby soon grabbing ahold of his hand while letting her head tilt to the side.
"Because I was looking for some pajamas, and all I found were your shirts." She said back, Casey grinning sheepishly before he gave her arm a gentle pull, like he was prompting her down onto the couch with him.
But sitting next to him wasn't enough, Matt guiding her until she was in his lap, her legs straddling his waist as she gave him a knowing look. If she was caught off guard by their positioning, she didn't show it, Gabby merely relaxing into him while her hands came up to rest over his neck.
"Yeah, that wasn't an accident." He spoke shamelessly, his palms coming up to rest over her hips while she let out a dry laugh.
"I figured." She responded while sitting on top of him, her thumb mindlessly stroking along his jaw while he pulled her a little closer.
"You usually sleep in my clothes, anyway." He continued with a shrug, Gabby feeling his hands start to creep down past her waist over the material of her robe. Though she didn't mind. "Although I prefer you sleep in nothing."
"Yeah, I bet you do." She shot back, seeing his grin widen before he leaned in to kiss her.
His movements were deep, and passionate, Gabby gripping onto his neck while he pushed her down into him, the two clinging to one another as if their lives depended on it before eventually pulling away. But they never went too far, their foreheads pressing together as they caught their breath.
"Thank you." She spoke moments later, Matt leaning back enough to get a look at her while he continued rubbing his hands lightly over her body.
"For what? Wanting you naked?" He asked lightly, Gabby rolling her eyes despite the amused smile that fell onto her lips.
"Matt, come on." She replied, Casey then nodding as he waited for her to continue. "I mean thank you for this. For planning this, and bringing us here… You didn't have to do anything, I would've been happy just staying at home with you." She told him, seeing the small, yet genuine smile that appeared over his face. "But all of this? This is one of the best things you've ever done for me, I love it here so much already. So thank you, it means so much to me. I need you to know that."
"Of course, baby." He responded, rubbing his palm over the top of her thigh as her weight rested over his legs. "I'd do anything for you, I'm just glad you like it."
"I love it." She said again, the two sharing gentle smiles before she pressed her lips back into his.
Their movements started innocently enough, but didn't stay that way for very long as with every passing moment the heat continued to build between them, Gabby and Matt both feeling that ever present want for one another as their hands traveled over the other. With each move he made he was loosening her robe, Gabby beginning to grab at the t-shirt covering his body until he finally lifted up enough for her to pull it off and toss it to the floor without a care in the world.
With nothing but his thin boxers between them, she could easily feel his hardening desire for her, Gabby pressing herself down into him while their lips stayed locked onto each other.
"Baby… Babe." Matt got out moments later between kisses, his palms gripping the side of her robe tightly. "Let me at least take you to the bedroom." He tried, though Gabby was wanting no part of it as she slowly pulled back, with an almost devilish smile on her face.
"You can." She told him, his head cocking to the side while he fought to steady his breathing. "But first, I want you here." She spoke with a determination that made his mouth go dry, Matt knowing that in this moment he'd do whatever it was she wanted as she pressed her hips down into his yet again. "...Exactly like this."
He was nodding before she could finish the thought, his lips pressing quick kisses against her jaw and neck until he pulled back once more, his hands finding the tie on her robe as their eyes locked, like he was asking for permission before going any further. Which he soon got in the form of a nod, his near goofy grin widening before he began to untie her already loose robe, Matt pulling it off her and throwing it down to the floor with his shirt, leaving her completely bare to him.
And it was a sight he would never tire of, Matt in complete awe of the woman on top of him as his warm hands were back on her body within seconds, cupping her breasts and teasing her, touching her anywhere he could as those soft, delicate moans left her lips.
His touch was almost enough to distract her, Gabby well aware of what he could do with just his hands as that part of him alone had her screaming his name more times than she could count. But right now, she needed more. And she knew he felt it too as she reached down in between them, desperate to get his boxers off.
Knowing exactly what she wanted, Matt wrapped an arm around her waist to steady her before he lifted his hips up a bit; enough to push down his boxers. And with Gabby's assistance they were soon out of the way, the couple left with nothing in between as he pushed his hips up against hers.
"Matt…" She breathed out when she felt his hard skin against her, Matt holding her down against him as his open mouth trailed all along her chest, wanting to taste any part of her he possibly could while heavy pants continued filling the air.
"Whatever you want, baby." He grunted out after releasing her breast from his lips, Gabby letting out a shaky breath as her darkened eyes soon met his. "You can have me however you want… I'm yours."
Those words sent an intense heat through her body, one she was sure he could feel as within seconds he had captured her lips in his once more, the roughness in his movements sending shockwaves through her body as she clung to him. But for as assertive as he was being, there was no doubt between them that she was still the one in control. She always would be.
And the rest of their night was spent showing just that.
