Senshi Sabers
Chapter 34
Loni Lenai was getting her hand tended to, the doctor coolly examining her busted fingers before setting up the cast. "Will I get full function back?" she asked grimly, the brown haired woman sitting on the examining table.
"No way to know yet, but Mr Kou is paying for the finest treatment," the Doctor told her. "Don't worry," he reassured her.
"Yeah, yeah," Loni sighed.
"He'll even cover prostetics," the Doc added.
Loni just grunted at that.
She still had a hard time even grasping what the hell happened. It was a straight forward security job with one twist: the targets were bio-boomers. Using their advanced railguns they would get a designated target then blow 'em to hell. Easy.
Only THIS time there was a catch. Better armor? Tougher body? NO way to know, but the lady beat the hell out of their team, broke Loni's hand and escaped.
'Suppose it could be worse,' Loni admitted as she limped back to her room in the hospital, 'ADP got hit even harder.'

Usagi Tsukino HATED funerals. Especially funerals where they were burying fellow cops killed in the line of duty. And worse of all was that they were doing a mass ceremony for everyone killed in the recent assault on the city.
"I hate this," Usagi growled, the blond standing with her partner Naru.
Chief Haruna was speaking, talking about members of her team who had died, along with several other division chiefs. It had been a grim day, and one that they were all feeling torn up about. For HOURS.
"We were lucky," Naru sighed, the shorter, slightly frizzy haired woman also in her dress uniform. Both their uniform's brass shone, creases crisp and caps neat.
"Fucking lucky," Usagi growled as they listened. Haruna might have heard them, she certainly saw them and glared. Both shut up, letting the ceremony continue.
Naru and Usagi went by the display up front, once the ceremony was over, then they filed out along with the other officers.
"Did you HAVE to talk?" Mina asked, the blond looking tired. Like all of them she had been working extra shifts.
"Sorry," Naru sighed.
Usagi nodded, "Yeah, sorry."
"I shouldn't be bitching," Mina admitted, "I didn't loose any friends in this."
"Need a ride back to the station?" Naru asked respectfully as they walked away together.
"No, thank you," Mina smiled tiredly, "I actually have a day off, finally. I'm going home, grabbing my girlfriend and exhausting her."
"I did NOT need to hear that," Usagi noted.
"Prude," Naru laughed softly.
"See ya," Mina said with a wave, jogging over to her motorcycle, climbing on, putting on her helmet then roaring away, dress uniform and all.
"Well, back to the salt mines we go," Usagi sighed as they got into their squad car.
Naru got behind the wheel buckling in as she mused, "Why do I nearly always drive?"
"Because you're better at it that I am?" Usagi shrugged. "I'll drive if you want."
Pleased by the compliment Naru smiled slightly. "That's fine," she said, pulling into traffic with all the rest of the officers attending the ceremony.
"Do you think there will be another attack while we're occupied?" Usagi wondered as they drove, sitting back tiredly.
"The run of the mill bio-boomers don't seem to be that tactical," Naru mused, "but Mistress Nine? No idea."
Usagi grunted her agreement, "We know she wants the Infinity scientists, and we can assume it's for upgrades to her bio-boomers."
"We THINK," Naru sighed. "We're still shooting in the dark, more or less."
They talked on their way to the station, then went inside to their desks where, with a certain reluctance, Usagi finally checked her messages. "You have 128 messages," the computer intoned. "25 of them urgent."
Usagi groaned. "Delete repeat messages," she ordered the computer, them with a sigh went to work sorting them out.
Naru peeked over her shoulder as she asked, "WHY would a advertiser send Viagra ads to a female police officer?"
"I am just THAT manly," Usagi joked.

The red armored woman crouched low on the modified cycle, racing along a night time street. "Hell of a way to get back to the job," Rei Hino muttered.
"You'd be bored if it was quiet," Haruka noted, her dark blue armor slightly less bulky than Rei's. They were in hot persuit of a rogue, one that had taken over a transport.
"I have a update on the truck," Ami's voice came through their helmets, "and it's bad."
"As usual?" Rei muttered.
Ami ignored that. "They were shipping laboratory chemicals through the city. Several are dangerous," she sighed.
Rei cursed softly while Haruka asked, "HOW dangerous? Fire? Explosions? Poisonous?"
"All of the above?" Rei quipped.
"Explosive, if mixed improperly," Ami informed them, "If you HAVE to crash the truck, get clear of it fast."
"Oh, lovely," Haruka sighed.
"Do we have to save the truck intact?" Rei asked.
Ami saw where she was going almost instantly. "No," she admitted, "but please don't blow it up in a populated area."
"Will do," Rei grinned.
They reached the truck in a few minutes, the new but not fast vehicle humming along. Inside the bio-boomer driver had gone rogue, absorbing the control surfaces and partially combining with the truck. It's normally pleasant 'human' look had also faded, replaced with a skull-like appearance.
'Too bad we don't have the others here,' Rei mused, but Ami had only two of these upgraded bikes ready. A 'normal' motorcycle couldn't handle the weight, and the Silky Doll truck was under repair from a earlier case.
"PULL OVER!" Haruka used her suit's speakers to address the driver.
Instead of answering the driver swerved, then tried to drive them off the road.
"Well, that didn't work," Haruka yelped as she braked, slowing enough to evade, then revving up to catch up to the truck.
"TELL me when you do that," Rei growled.
"Sorry," Haruka said.
Rei considered the situation, "Your suit has that taser attack, right? Can you zap it?"
"Worth a try," Haruka manoeuvred close, then fired.
Steel needles much like the ones Rei fired launched, trailing micro-thin lines and buried into the bio-boomer. It had enough time to look surprised before the current kicked in, sending electricity pouring into the machine. It jerked, shuddered then went inert. With no one at the controls the emergency systems kicked in, applying breaks and slowly bringing the runaway vehicle to a halt.
"Well, that was anti-climatic," Rei noted.
"I'm just glad that nothing went wrong," Ami started.
"Uh oh," Haruka muttered.
"Uh oh?" Rei echoed, then saw what she meant. Smoke was starting to billow out of the back of the truck.
"Time to go," Haruka said, reving up her cycle and raving off. Rei followed, the two trying to put some distance between them and whatever was happening to the truck.
BOOM! The truck was engulfed in flames, the back of the vehicle blasted right off as flames burned higher.
"Crap," Ami sighed over the radio. "Back to base, please. We don't want to deal with emergency services..."
To be continued...
Notes: Sorry for shorter update. Computer having issues and DAMN is it hot in BC, Canada.
