Chapter 21: Endymion, Mamoru and Darien
It was a quiet morning in Gravity Falls. It would be normal… but a normal day involved fighting monsters.
Dipper and Serena were eating breakfast when Stan came into the room.
"Who wants Stan cakes? They're just like Pancakes but there's some of my hair in it." Said Stan.
"Pass." Said the two siblings said.
"It's here! It's here!" cheered Mabel running into the room happily.
"Did they deicide to run your article about summer fashion tips for squirrels?" asked Serena.
"You know it sister!" cheered Mabel.
She showed them the newspaper.
"Pacifica Northwest declares V necks to be the look of the season." Read Stan, "What is this?"
"WHAT!" yelled Mabel.
"Looks like someone bought their way onto the front page." said Dipper.
"Is it legal for a child to wear that much make-up?" asked Stan.
"It will be fine Mabel." Said Serena comforting Mabel.
"She's right… no one reads the newspaper any more." Said Dipper.
That was when Soos came into the room.
"Dudes! Did you read the news! V-neck season is upon us! Who wants to help me get ahead of the curve with W necks?" asked Soos.
They all stared at Soos as he cut his shirts into W-necks while saying "Must follow newspaper."
Mabel began to drown her sorrows in juice.
"I need something to get my mind off of this." Muttered Mabel.
"Looking for a distraction from your horrible life?" asked a voice on TV.
"Why yes." Said Mabel.
"Victory! Honor! Destiny! Mutton! They're all live and well at Gravity Falls discount putt hutt!" sad the announcer of the commercial.
"That's perfect!" said Serena.
"She's right! You're great at Mini-golf!" said Dipper taking out one of Mabel's scrap books, "We had a stressful couple of days, so how about it."
"Will kicking our butts in mini golf cheer you up?" asked Stan.
"Maybe a little." Said Mabel.
"Sorry I can't come today…" said Serena.
"Why?" asked Mabel.
"Darien's still sick…" said Serena, "I promised I'd visit… especially since the doctor didn't find anything wrong."
"Oh Serena I understand." Said Mabel comforting her sister.
"No knows what's wrong and he just keeps getting worse." Cried Serna, "I can't lose him… not again…"
"Seriously? You're crying over some guys who you're probably going to break up with by the end of summer any way..." Said Stan.
"Grunkle Stan! He's my soul mate!" cried Serena who calmed down a little to explain, "I'm not just saying that, we were boyfriend and girlfriend in our past lives before dying tragically…"
"Oh yeah… I keep forgetting that whole past life thing." Said Stan.
"Go have fun…" said Serena wiping away her tears.
"As for the rest of the us!" said Dipper, "Victory!"
"Honor!" cheered Mabel.
"Destiny!" cheered Stan.
"Mutton!" cheered Soos.
They chanted the slogan as they headed to the car while Serena was giving a somewhat sad smile.
Sometime later at the Cutebiker house, Mr. Cutebiker was a man who looked a lot like his brother, however Mrs. Cutebiker, was where Darien got his looks from, she was rather tall with black hair.
That was when the doorbell rang.
"I'll go get it." Said Mr. Cutebiker.
He got the door. And unfortunately it wasn't Serena, it was Sierra.
"Hi Mr. Cutebiker!" said Sierra.
"Sierra." Muttered Mr. Cutebiker.
OF course he knew of Sierra, the girl who wouldn't stop at nothing to sink her claws into his son.
"I heard Darien was sick! So I came over to cheer him up." Said Sierra in a very sickeningly sweet voice.
Before Mr. Cutebiker could shoo her away she came into the house.
"Hi Mrs. Cutebiker!" said Sierra.
She went upstairs to Darien's room.
"That girl…" muttered Mr. Cutebiker.
"She really doesn't know how to take a hint." Said Mrs. Cutebiker.
Sierra knocked on the door to Darien's room.
"Come in." he said thinking it was Serena.
"Hi Darien!" said Sierra.
"Sierra… what are you doing here." Said Darien.
"I heard you were sick so I came to visit you… I mean your girlfriend isn't here so…" said Sierra.
"Are you hinting that she's a bad girlfriend because she isn't here?" asked Darien who knew for a fact that she was coming to see him.
"Of course not!" said Sierra in a tone that basically said "Yes, I am."
Darien sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Serena please get here soon." He thought.
Downstairs the doorbell rang.
Mrs. Cutebiker decided to answer the door time. Of course it was Serena.
"Hello Serena." Said Mrs. Cutebiker.
"Hi Mrs. Cutebiker!" said Serena.
"Please Serena, call me Claudia." Said Mrs. Cutebiker.
"Oh hey Serena!" said Mr. Cutebiker, "Heads up, Sierra is up there."
"Seriously?" asked Serena rolling her eyes.
"Can you tell her to Git out, when you see her?" asked Mr. Cutebiker.
"Of course." Said Serena.
Inside of Darien's room. Sierra tried making small talk.
"So… what's wrong?" asked Sierra.
"No one knows." Said Darien.
"Are you just telling me that or is that what the doctors are saying?" asked Sierra.
"That's what the doctors are saying." Said Darien glaring at her, "You know someone rang the doorbell a minute ago."
"Yeah… so…" said Sierra, "It's not like your girlfriend is coming, probably just hanging out with her weird friends… I mean come on... they're all weirdoes…"
"I've come to see them as my friends as well." Said Dairen.
She started to laughing, "Good one…"
"No." said Darien, "it's true…"
"Please the girl who claims to be psychic, her best friend whose dad is the crazed lumberjack, the granddaughter of the town kook and the sister of the brat who's been spying on everyone… that's a really good one." She laughed even more.
"Dairen I'm here!" cheered Serena.
Sierra froze when she came in.
"Oh I guess I forgot to mention that I was expecting her." Said Darien with very forced politeness.
"Oh.." said Sierra.
"Maybe you should leave so I can have alone time with my girlfriend." Said Dairen.
"Fine…" muttered Sierra leaving.
Both of them breathed a sigh of relief once she left and Serena shut the door.
"So… how are things?" asked Darien.
"Same old, same old." Laughed Serena.
"So that bad huh?" asked Darien.
She told him about what happened with the shape shifter.
"I see…" said Darien, "I had a feeling you might be in danger."
"Yeah…" said Serena.
"I wish I could have helped." Sighed Darien, "But… it feels like I'm getting worse…"
"I know." Sighed Serena.
"It's like there something inside of me… tearing itself apart." Said Darien.
Serena looked at Darien.
"What is it?" asked Darien.
"Why does it feel like your hiding something?" asked Serena.
"It's nothing really?" asked Darien, "Hey you want to play a game?"
"Sure…" said Serena.
The two played a couple games before Serena decided to leave.
"Get better okay." Said Serena.
"I will. For you." Said Darien.
As Serena was leaving, Claudia showed with an umbrella, as it had started to rain.
"Here Serena, you can barrow this." Said Claudia giving her the umbrella.
"Thank you." Said Serena.
"Don't worry. We'll figure out what's wrong and make sure he'll get better." Said Claudia.
"Thanks." Said Serena.
She texted Mabel to see if she was home or somewhere else and she got the message about being at Hermanos Brothers. So she decided to walk there.
As she did she couldn't help but to think, "Darien? What are you hiding?" she thought.
Meanwhile Darien laying in bed and sighed. The thing he didn't' tell her was that when he sensed she was in danger and needed help he was having an attack.
"Is our connection killing me?" he asked, "Or is something trying to kill me through our connection? I don't know…"
Elsewhere in the forest, Riley an Lila were walking though with Grocery bags, thankfully they did bring their umbrellas.
"You want to bet if Sierra is trying to get Darien's attention by visiting him now?" asked Lila coming up with a new conversation topic.
"Please we all know she's going to try to do that." Said Riley.
"Yeah you do that a point." Laughed Lila.
That was when Riley froze.
"Riley, what's wrong?" asked Lila.
"Something's here!" said Riley.
Riley and Lila stood back to back trying to find it.
That was when a shadow thing appeared and was ready to attack.
Meanwhile at Hermanos Brother, Serena arrived and saw the sate Mabel was in. Dipper was feeding her chips while dressed.
"Mabel, what happened?" asked Serena.
"Pacifica's better than me at Mini-Golf." Said Mabel.
"Seriously?" asked Serena.
"They're having a midnight duel tonight." Said Dipper, "To prove who's better at Mini-Golf."
"So how are things with you?" asked Stan.
"Darien's hiding something from me." Sighed Serena, "I don't know what it is… but it must be big…"
"Maybe he found out about you know…" said Mabel.
"If he had he would talked to me." Said Serena.
Stan sighed…
"Look you two… I don't know what to say right now… so I'm just going to keep quiet." Said Stan.
They both stared at their great uncle.
"Okay…" said Serena.
That was when Serena's communicator beeped.
She opened it,
"There's something strange the in forest attacking us." Said Sailor Mars on the other end, "Please hurry."
"Where in the forest are you?" asked Serena.
"Don't worry I got them…" said Amelia on her end, "Marina, Serena. I'll guide you on the way."
"Okay!" said Serena.
"Got it!" said Marina on her end.
"Sorry but I have to go, duty calls!" said Serena leaving.
"Well that got her mind of that." Said Stan.
Everyone stared at Stan.
On the way there, Serena transformed into Sailor Moon.
"All right Moon you're almost there!" called out Sailor Mercury.
"Okay!" said Sailor Moon.
That was when a large shadow figure appeared in front of her.
"What!" she cried out.
The shadow grabbed her and slammed her into a tree.
Back with Darien, he felt Serena/Sailor Moon being in danger.
"Serena!" he thought.
"Stop fighting it! You can get involved!"
"She needs his help!"
Dairen fell the immense pain and she screamed before passing out.
He then opened his eyes. When he did he found himself in a strange place, parts of it looked like a wrecked city, part of it looked like a wrecked castle and parts of it looked like a wrecked Gravity Falls.
"Where am I?" he asked.
He began to looked around.
That was when he heard two voices.
They were arguing. He headed to where the voices were coming. He saw it was two men, one of them was dressed in what looked to be some sort of fancy black outfit with sliver shoulder pads and a cape. The other was an Asian man wearing a green jacket over a black turtle neck and purple pleated pants.
"Look you have let him make his own choices." Said the man in black, "And all signs point to him wanting to help her!"
"We can't." said the man in the purple pleated pants, "IF he gets involved, it will happen all over again!"
"This isn't like with Beryl! We don't even know who to fight." Said the man in black.
"This isn't about Beryl! We couldn't protect her! WE just ended up harming her! And it will be that way again." Said the man in the purple pleated pants.
"Uh… hello?" asked Darien.
Both of them stared at Darien.
"I knew going to happen." Said the man in black.
"Hey don't blame me!" said the man in the purple pleated pants.
"You're the one who's causing all this! The one who's making everything unstable!" said the man in black.
"We should really explain things." Sighed the man in the purple pleated pants.
"You're right,." Sighed the man in black.
Darien sighed.
"Do you know where we are?" he asked.
"We're in your mind." Said the man in black.
"What?" asked Darien.
"No it's true." Said the man in black.
"If this is my mind, who are you then?" asked Darien.
"We're you." Said the man in the purple pleated pants.
"Or rather fragments of your past lives." Said the man in black.
Darien's eyes widened, then he looked at the man in black, "You're the prince aren't you… the prince from Serena's past life… right?" asked Dairen.
"You're right." Said the man in black, "I am Prince Endymion, Serenity's lover."
Darien was overjoyed. Every time he was with Serena there was a small worry… a worry that she would break up with him to be with her prince.
"I was worried over nothing." He laughed.
"I guess you were." Said Prince Endymion.
"Wait…" said Dairen realizing something, "If you're the Prince… who are you?"
The man in the Purple Pleated Pants sighed.
"I'm Mamoru Chiba, the first reincarnation of Prince Endymion." Said the man named Mamoru.
"Wait… what?" he asked.
"Not only but Serena and the others aren't the first reincarnations either." Said Mamoru.
"What?" asked Darien.
"Its probably better to show him." said Prince Endymion.
"Show me what?" asked Darien.
"The memories of our second life." Said Prince Endymion.
That was when Darien was assaulted with images… memories from Mamoru's life.
He watched as Mamoru lost his memories as a child, how he met Usagi, transform into Tuxedo Mask, a Sailor Senshi like identity, constantly save Sailor Moon, although at the same time Mamoru didn't know he was Tuxedo Mask until getting his hands on one of the Rainbow Crystals, getting into a fight member of the Dark Kingdom over the Rainbow Crystals, taking an attack meant for Sailor Moon, then getting captured and brainwashed by the Dark Kingdom and forcing to fight Sailor Moon multiple times, until he died after snapping out of it, killed by Queen Beryl.
He was in shock after getting all of those memories.
"We failed in protecting her… because she died after we did… if we stay out of it, then we won't place her in danger!" yelled Mamoru.
"We can't just sit by while she need our help!" said Prince Endymion.
Darien's eyes widened.
"Your fighting… that's the cause of my sickness… isn't it?" asked Mamoru.
"It is." Said Prince Endymion, "Our fighting has started to tear our soul apart, and has also started to effect our mind."
"It's your fighting that causing my illness." Sighed Darien.
"I'm afraid so." Sighed Prince Endymion.
"We have to stay out of the way of fighting! IF we do that again, we'll only fail!" yelled Mamoru.
Darien realized there was only one to end this… it was something he realized a long time ago… back in the woods during the party.
"No!" said Darien, "We have to fight by her side!"
Mamoru's eyes widened.
"We can't just let her keep fighting… things are different now." Said Darien.
"How do you know?" asked Mamoru.
"Well for one thing, it's clear the Dark Kingdom is gone." Said Darien.
"He right… we know the enemy she was born to fight is… but whatever it is, it's not the Dark Kingdom." Said Prince Endymion.
"But I failed as Tuxedo Mask." Said Mamoru.
"Then I won't become Tuxedo Mask." Said Darien.
"What?" asked Mamoru.
"I'll gain a different identity." Said Darien, "If Tuxedo Mask failed, then I won't be him."
Mamoru sighed and then smiled.
"You're going to fight no matter what." Said Mamoru.
"We all know she's in danger." Said Darien.
In the forest shadow monster was attacking all five Sailor Guardians.
"What is this thing?" asked Sailor Venus.
"It's a mass of living shadows." Said Sailor Mercury.
"Okay how is that going to help us beat it?" asked Sailor Jupiter.
"I don't know!" said Sailor Mercury.
That was when the shadow creature grabbed Sailor Moon.
"Sailor Moon!" cried Sailor Mars.
Back in Darien's mind…
"There was something I was planning to use incase I needed to create another identity." Said Mamoru.
Darien saw the image of the other identity… however…
"I'm not using that." Said Darien.
"Why?" asked Mamoru.
"A lot things have change since you died." Said Darien.
Then one of Darien's memories hit Mamoru.
"Oh…" said Mamoru's eyes widening.
"Yeah… sorry… you look like you took a lot of time in making that." Said Darien.
"It' okay… things changed since I was alive." Said Mamoru.
"You should go! She still in danger." Said Prince Endymion.
Darien nodded, he closed his eyes as the two turned into golden light that went inside of him.
"I know what my identity is." He said.
He woke up in his room. He looked at the window and nodded. He knew it was probably a better idea to sneak out than explain to his parents that he was suddenly better.
Back in the room the shadow creature continued it's attacks.
"Fire Soul!" called out Sailor Mars.
While the fire was able to hold it back somewhat. It was enough.
That as when it grabbed Sailor Moon b y the leg. HE swung he about while seemingly laughing.
However a red streak hit its hand. Causing Sailor Moon to be sent flying. The other Sailor Guardians saw what had stopped the monster. It was a single red rose.
"Can it be?" thought Sailor Mars.
"Did he finally find out?" thought Sailor Venus.
"It has to be." Thought Sailor Mercury.
"About time." thought Sailor Jupiter.
A figure in red appeared before Sailor Moon could have a harsh landing, he was wearing a set of red armor, that was lined with green, he had a red cape that had a green lining inside and wore a red domino mask over his eyes. He also had black hair and appeared to be in his teens.
""Who are you?" asked Sailor Moon.
"I was thinking of going by Rose Knight." Said the figure.
That was when Sailor Moon realized it.
"Darien?" she asked.
He nodded, indeed Rose Knight was the identity that Darien had created.
He landed and the shadow monster looked angry.
"We don't know what this thing is… only that it attacked Mars and Jupiter." Said Sailor Moon.
"Have you tried using your new wand yet?" asked Rose Knight.
Sailor Moon blushed.
"Not yet" asked Sailor Moon, "You think it will work."
"There's only one way to find out." Said Rose Knight.
Sailor Moon nodded.
"Moon Princess Halation!" she called out.
She pointed the attack at the shadow creature, the attacked harmed it the extent that it ran away in fear.
Sailor Moon breathed a sigh of relief. She laughed and hugged Rose Knight and then the two kissed.
However of course there had to be a moment killer.
"so Sailor Moon… you cheating on your boyfriend?" asked Sailor Venus.
"What?" asked Sailor Moon.
"You know she taken right?" asked Sailor Mars.
"It's not like that!" cried Sailor Moon.
"Relax." Said Sailor Jupiter.
"They're only just teasing you." Said Sailor Mercury.
"Yeah." Laughed Sailor Mars.
"We know it's you Darien." Said Sailor Venus.
Rose Knight laughed, but then realized something.
"How… how much do you know about our past lives?" asked Rose Knight.
They all looked at each other.
"Are about the first… or both?" asked Sailor Mars deciding to be the ask.
"Both." Answered Rose Knight.
"We have to talk." Said Sailor Moon.
"Wait… before we all talk about these things? Can I take my groceries to the house first?" asked Sailor Jupiter.
"Yeah… you should." Said Sailor Moon.
"This also seems like it's going to be a long conversation so we should also let our parents know." Said Sailor Mercury.
"Good idea." Said Sailor Mars.
"Also I should check back in with my parents and let them know I'm feeling better." Said Darien.
"Let's meet at the Mystery Shack in a hour." Said Sailor Moon.
The others nodded, after Darien snuck back into his room, and assured his parents that his illness had passed, though they insisted he remain in bed, he did sneak out.
They had the conversation in the empty Mystery Shack (thanks to Mabel's midnight duel with Pacifica)
It was hours of talking, explaining some details, explaining who Hotaru and the other three were, telling him about the group from Japan.
"This is a lot to deal with." Said Darien.
"I know." Sighed Serena.
That was when the communicator began to beep.
Serena was the one to answer it since it meant either her siblings or Hotaru was calling for her, knowing her chances it was her siblings.
"Hey Sailor Moon!" called out Dipper it was clear that he wasn't using Serena because he must have been with Pacifica, "There situation here and we might need your help."
"Okay we'll be there soon!" said Serena.
"All right! You ready fro the first real saving for Dipper and Mabel?" asked Marina.
"I dressed up in a Chewbacca mask, remember." Said Darien.
"Well you didn't have power then." Said Lila.
"Let's go!" said Serena.
They all transformed into Guardian or Darien's case knight form! And they got to the Mini-Golf course. Only for the twins and Pacifica land in front of them a golf cart.
"I take it we missed everything?" asked Sailor Venus.
"At least it's better than the wax figures." Sighed Sailor Moon earning a nod from Sailor Mercury.
They heard some noises form the other side of the gate of the Mini-Gold course.
"Stay out Hugelings!" was a shout.
"What did you say! I'll sue you! I'll sue all of you!" yelled Pacifica.
However some weapons hit the door causing her to back up.
"You two, I don't know what's going or what you did, but just because you saved my life doesn't mean I…" said Pacifica.
Mabel cut her off by giving her a sticker.
"I'm sorry trying to cheat Pacifica." Said Mabel, "If we played fair and square you would have won."
Pacifica looked at the sticker.
"You're just lucky it looks good on me." Said Pacifica," Also did you summon the Sailor Guardians… and their handsome new friend?"
"Yeah." Said Mabel, "We kind of have it in with them."
"Sorry it took a while to get here." Said Sailor Moon.
"Darien?" mouthed Dipper.
Rose Knight nodded.
"Explain later." He mouth.
Dipper nodded.
"It looks like it's going to rain. So we should get going." Said Sailor Jupiter.
"See you guys later." Said Sailor Moon.
All of them jumped away, as Mabel got an idea to help Pacifica and maybe befriend her.
Though Dipper didn't like the idea.
On the way home, Sailor Moon and Rose Knight smiled at each other. They still weren't sure who their enemy was, but at least Darien now knew his destiny.
Although none of them knew that soon, they would realize who their enemy was…
Next Time: Dipper and Amelia are able to easily to crack the computer... unfortunately it contains no clues to the whereabouts of the author... and Dipper's staring to get desperate... will he make a deal with Bill for the author's identity. Meanwhile Mabel falls for another boy who's into puppets, so she decides to host a puppet show. What will happen? Find out next time!
