Chapter 34:
Facing and Mastering Fears
When they got back and told the others the terrible news, Rainbow Dash approached Twilight with a hint of anger in her eyes and said, "You let the princesses go after Slash alone and you didn't do anything about it?!".
"How could you?!" Rarity asked in anger and betrayal.
"I'm sorry, it's my fault. I failed Celestia and Luna when they needed me most. It's just the sight of Slash being so close to capturing us just...just...," Twilight said as she tries to find the right words to describe what she's feeling.
"Made your heart stop? Put ice in your veins? Scared the cutie marks off you?" Pinkie asked as she appeared beside her from nowhere, catching Twilight by surprise.
"Something like that. Plus, y'all should've seen what Slash even did to Inferno and Cliffbore. He didn't just steal their magic with the crystals but he also zapped them with his magic. Something fierce!" Applejack stated.
"And just seeing that even scares me," Sunset said.
"All Warriors feel fear from one time to another, young ones. Even the Alicorn Warrior feels fear. So there's no shame in that," Cliffbore said.
"Yes, it's a proven scientific fact that the equation between adrenaline and trepidation…," Voltwing summed up to them.
"Voltwing, do not interrupt them while they're talking," Storm Heart said, not liking how Voltwing is interrupting Cliffbore and Inferno with their speech.
"Storm Heart, Voltwing, please, I believe our two friends here were trying to make a point to the poor dears?" Marina said as she and Gaia approached.
"Please, continue Inferno and Cliffbore," Gaia said, allowing the fire and earth guardians to continue their speech.
"Thank you, Gaia, and you Marina. What Cliffbore and I are going to say is that all Warriors feel fear, Twilight. Including the Alicorn Warrior," Inferno continued his and Cliffbore's speech.
"...But only the most valiant among us can face that fear and master it. From what we saw what you, Applejack, and Sunset did back in the Dragon Lands, you are such warriors," Cliffbore said as he and Inferno walked to the training room.
"Alicorn Warrior, now's the time to complete your training…," Inferno started.
"…Now's the time to face your fears come," Cliffbore finished as he and Inferno enter the training room.
"Right behind you, guys. Come on, Twilight. Twilight?" Spike said as he noticed Twilight just standing there not following him and the Guardians into the training room with her head down.
"Twilight, are you okay?" Gaia asked noticing Twilight's posture.
"I'm sorry. I just couldn't stop thinking about Celestia, and Luna, being out there in trouble. I feel like a failure," Twilight replied as her eyes begin filling up with tears.
"Twilight, look at me. No matter what happens, we will save them. You haven't failed yet, so there's still time for us to save them and stop Slash from draining their magic. But we can't be sure until you complete your training and master all the elements," Marina said.
Seeing that they're not giving up on her, Twilight nodded and soon began walking into the training room, ready to complete her training and perhaps master her worst fear.
