Mikey pouted as he twirled around in a swivel chair. He kept pulling out his t-phone and checking it. Constantly refreshing his messages, hoping to see a notification pop up. He was sitting in Donatello's lab. His brother stood over a microscope, craning his neck to look through the lens. Mikey sighed in disappointment and slouched in his chair. He spun around a couple of times before sighing again, even louder. Donnie twitched his eye but continued his research. Mikey sighed once more, almost yelling. Donnie slammed his hand on the table and turned to his younger brother.
"What is it, Mikey?"
Mikey continued to spin in his chair and replied, "It's been like three days since I gave Crow my number, and she hasn't even texted. Do you think she forgot? Should I call her?"
"I don't know, Mikey. Hey, why don't you make yourself useful and hand me that slide." Donatello looked back to his microscope and held out his hands. Mikey groaned and grabbed a pipette. He placed it in Donnie's hand.
"That's not a slide."
Mikey groaned even louder and stole the pipette back. This time he grabbed a glass beaker and placed it in Donnie's hand. Donatello looked back to the beaker and then to Mikey.
"You don't know what a slide is, do you?"
"You're the science dude! How should I know what's what?"
Donnie sighed and grabbed a rectangular piece of clear glass on the table. He placed it onto the microscope and returned his attention to it. Mikey rocked back and forth in boredom. The chair squeaked louder and louder as he rocked. Donnie closed his eyes and hunched his shoulders, trying not to lose his temper. Without looking at his annoying brother, he said through gritted teeth, "Why don't you go see if April is back yet? She hangs out with Cori; you can ask her about it."
"Fiiiiine…"
Michelangelo jumped off the chair and strolled out of the lab. Only Leonardo and Raphael were in the main room. Raph was sparring with the homemade dummy in the corner while Leo sat on the floor cross-legged. He bit on the end of a marker as he looked down at a large piece of paper sprawled on the floor. "Did April come by yet," Mikey asked.
"Nope," Raphael answered as kicked the dummy in its stomach. He refrained from punching it, still recovering from the cuts he received on his forearm. It had been a little over a week since his brother accidentally clawed at his arm, and the wound had only healed a little bit. He still had to wrap his arm with gauze. He hated the feel of the fabric, how scratchy it made his skin.
Mikey groaned once more and collapsed to the floor, face down. His brothers paid no attention to his tantrum. "I'm boooooored," he whined to his brothers.
"If you're bored," Leo said, "we can always do some training."
"I'm not that bored."
Leo rolled his eyes and circled something on the paper. Mikey scooted closer to the blue-masked turtle, refusing to get up and walk over. When he was close enough, he noticed Leonardo was writing on a large map of New York City.
"What are you doing?"
"Huh?"
Mikey's question startled Leo, as he had become deep in thought. He stopped chewing on the marker and said, "I thought it might help if we recorded all of the Kraang bases we know of, even if they aren't there anymore." He pointed to various circled locations on the map and said, "Here's TCRI, and here's the place where they made Chrome Dome."
"What about the place where we met Justin?"
"Justin?"
"Yeah, you know. That octo-eyeball-jelly-bug mutant."
"Oh, yeah. He was at the World Wide Genome Project building, right?"
Leo searched on the map and circled the location. "I liked Justin," Mikey said quietly to himself.
"You're doing this cuz of Cori, aren't you?"
Leo looked back to Raphael as he punched the dummy with his good arm.
"I guess. I just think we owe it to her to help her."
"Owe it to her?" Raphael repeated angrily. He kicked the practice dummy hard, flying it off its hook and across the room. He turned to his brothers and sternly said, "We don't owe her anything. We don't have time to go on a wild goose chase for someone we don't even know." Leonardo stood up and retorted, "We did it for April."
"That's different."
"How?"
"Because it was our fault. It was our fault her dad got kidnapped by the Kraang. It was our fault that Mr. O'Neil got mutated." Raphael poked his brother hard in the shoulder with each point. "Whatever happened to Cori isn't our fault. It was hers."
Leo grabbed Raphael's hand before he could poke again. He said in a firm voice, "That doesn't matter. The Kraang is our problem. I don't know anyone else dealing with them, do you?" Raph pulled his hand back and turned away. "Whatever," he grumbled as he grabbed the dummy off the floor. Mikey had sat up at this point to watch his brothers argue.
"Besides," Mikey said, "isn't it the right thing to do? To help her?"
Raphael ignored him and placed the dummy back on its hook. He continued his one-sided sparring match. Leonardo reached down and started to roll up the map.
"Hey guys," a familiar voice called out. April and Casey emerged from the sewers. They jumped over the turnstiles and continued down the steps. "April!" Mikey called out excitedly. He stopped right in front of her, almost knocking her over. "Whoa, you're awfully excited to see me," she said. Mikey took a step back and rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.
"Yeah, I guess I wanted to ask you about—"
A cheerful ringtone started to play loudly. Mikey jumped and started fumbling with his t-phone. He almost dropped it but caught it right before it hit the ground. "Hello," he answered in an overly suave tone.
"Uh, hey Michelangelo. It's Cori."
"Please, call me Mikey."
"Mikey...listen, I think I found some Kraang."
"You don't say." April and Casey shared a look as Mikey continued to talk in an over-the-top manner.
"Yeah, I'm not sure what they're doing. But, I was hoping for some back-up?"
"Don't worry, the teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles are on their way!" He posed heroically as if Cori could see him. "Just hang tight." He hung up and smiled brightly. Mikey ran back to his brothers and yelled, "Quick, grab Donnie. There's trouble!"
"Mikey, what the shell are you talking about?" Raph asked annoyingly. He quit his little fight with the dummy, now leaning on it casually. Leonardo was still sitting on the floor, but he had stopped working on the map. Michelangelo placed a foot on the small wall that surrounded their "living room" and continued his dauntless charade. It was almost like one of Captain Ryan's cheesy monologues from "Space Heroes."
"Crow needs our help. There's a kraang infestation that must be dealt with."
Leo perked his head. "Is she in trouble?"
"She will be if we do not act soon. Our ally needs us. It is time for action!"
"Do you even know where she is," Casey asked. He and April finished walking down the steps into the lair. "I, uh…" Mikey deflated slightly as he tried to remember. "One sec," he said to the others. He turned away from them and started frantically typing on his phone. He waited a minute before receiving a response.
The theatrical turtle returned to his heroic pose and continued, "She says she's at Union Square, which I totally knew and did not have to ask her because I ended the call too soon." Leo shook his head slightly at Mikey's theatrics and said, "I'll go get Don." Raphael rolled his eyes, stuffing his sai into his belt. "Let's just get this over with," he grumbled.
Wanted to add that I'm super sorry to all the people that left reviews and I never got to them.
