unfortunately, nothing is mine other than the story and the oc. i wish i owned star wars, cause then i could give obi-wan a better life.

Miona watched Ben as he made his way to the door, walking there backwards and at a slow, almost elegant pace. "I won't be going anywhere any time soon," he told her while lifting a door flap with his forearm, "so yes, I guess I will be around." He flashed her a knowing smile, which caused her stomach to flip and her already quick heart rate to increase a questionable amount.

When he was gone, the strange feeling that he carried around with him vanished. Not the feeling of nerves and giddiness that were formed the first time he looked at her and said her name and even when he was standing near her when he was signing the papers, no that feeling was still very much existent. The feeling that came from his almost heavy presence was gone.

But she still felt tingles and spread across her body. She had felt this feeling before once when she was young and her parents were both still around, when she was able to go to school without worrying about having food or water at home. She went to class one day in Year 3, and got partnered up with a boy from her class named Noru Kalse, and he told her she was the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen, and her little eight year old self was so flattered that she couldn't stop thinking of the boy. She harbored a crush for him for a week or two before he called her friend Myria pretty in front of her.

The second her she put two and two together she was taken aback. A crush? She barely even knew Ben at all. Sure, he was new, he was handsome and most importantly he wasn't the weird messy men that lived on Tatooine, so she blamed it on the excitement of something, rather, someone different coming into her life. As much as she hated to admit it, though, she knew the way she was feeling didn't just come from the excitement for something new. She felt drawn to him, and wanted to get to know him.

Ok, maybe she didn't have a crush on him because that would imply she knew the man, but she did however feel slightly attracted to him. Maybe not slightly. She hadn't felt like this for a man ever in her life. And in all honesty, it scared her.

Miona's shift was over about twenty minutes after Ben had left the store, but her mind remained very much hung up on the subject of the strange new traveler. Come on Miona, get a hold of yourself. Stop thinking about this, he probably barely even remembers you right now. You are of no importance to him, and he shouldn't be of any to you. The mental pep talk did nothing to help.

Her mind wandered as she made her way through the streets of Milipel, on her way back to her small house she shared with her friend. The streets were getting dark and the second sun was now below the horizon so everything was lit up with a flat blueish light. The air was also cooling down, so the atmosphere was so much more comfortable than normal, the chill and cool vibe calmed her slightly.

She arrived at her house a little bit later, and unlocked the door by punching in the eight digit password into the old control panel to the side of the door. She swung the door open, revealing the small entry way with cloaks hanging on hooks and two pairs of sandals by the door. She removed her shoes, threw on the sandals she wore inside the house and hung up the old, dirty cloak she was wearing and opened the door on the other side of the entry way that led to the stairs. Her small home, with the exception of the entry, was all under ground which helped keep the air cooler without the need for any expensive high tech air coolers.

Miona made her way down slowly, her feet clacking heavily on the old stone stairs. From below she could hear two people talking quietly and the sound of food cooking on a stove.

"Hey, Mio." a lady called as she rounded the wall that separated the stairwell and the rest of the small house.

"Hello Sola," she replied as she set her small bag down on the coffee table in front of the couch. A tall man with red hair walked out of Sola's room. "Oh, hi Gil."

He gave her a small smile and waved slightly while making his way over to his girlfriend. He wrapped his arms around Sola's back where she was in the kitchen, frying something on the pan. Miona observed the couple quietly from where she was leaning against the couch.

Sola had been Miona's best friend for almost her whole life. And when Miona's parents both died by a moisture vaporator exploded on their farm when she was only 16 and dropped out of school to work a job so she could pay rent for the small underground house, Sola's parents helped her pay about half of it so she could have enough left over for food and other necessities. Then when she turned twenty, Sola's parents couldn't help anymore, but they suggested their daughter go live with her so they could split the rent until they both had enough credits to live on their own. That was the plan; save up for one or two years til they were both stable enough to move out on their own.

That plan was made almost ten years ago.

Neither of them had been able to move, since it took both their incomes to pay rent and buy stuff necessary for life. And it sucked, since they both were forced to give up on their dreams and simply survive. But Miona was content, at least somewhat. she got to go home and see her best friend and got to go though all of lives challenges with her, and practically become her sister.

Then Gil showed up, about six months ago. Of course, Gil was super kind and a perfect match for her friend; his quiet demeanor offsetting perfectly Sola's impulsive outgoing nature. The two of them started spending a lot of time over at their house, and during the first month or two Miona hated the change. She didn't want anyone to take the only person she loved out of her life, it was her biggest fear, but Gil was doing that right in front of her eyes and there was nothing she could do but let it happen if she wanted to keep her friendship with Sola alive.

Miona did eventually get used to it. And over the course of the most recent months she became really happy for them. Currently Gil was still whispering in her ear something she assumed was funny, judging by the way Sola laughed out loud.

Miona sighed. They were so in love with each other. She briefly wondered if she would ever fall in love, the way she always imagined when she was younger. A tall man would sweep her off her feet with a huge romantic gesture to proclaim his love for her. She imagined they'd move off the planet, or at least to a farm somewhere in the middle of the desert so they could be alone, and possibly raise a kid or two. Who he would be, she never knew, she always just assumed he'd be one of the boys she grew up knowing, but now she'd known them for so long that the mere idea of marrying one of them made her almost nauseous. So in the past years, the mystery man had become someone from across the planet or possibly even a mysterious traveler from a whole different planet entirely.

Maybe that's why she had been so giddy and nervous when she met Ben today, she realized. She had built up a huge idea around a man from another planet that would come and save her from her current life, that the second a somewhat handsome had appeared from outside Tatooine, her whole being lit up and got way too excited. The sad truth is that she realized is that she was probably not even interested in the man, that she only liked the idea of him. And plus, she probably would barely ever see him around too, that's the way life worked on Tatooine. So much space, barely any people to populate it. He could be anywhere, and the chance of even ever seeing him again was low.

The thought disappointed her slightly, but it was for the best, she decided. She didn't need to have a man on her mind all the time, distracting her from her work and her life. Not when he probably wasn't even thinking about her, and probably never will.

"Miona," Sola said from the kitchen where she was placing the food she prepared onto the small circle table, pulling Miona out of her thoughts, "dinner is ready."

"Oh, nice," Miona replied as she made her way over to the table and sat down. On the table was bantha steaks, a pretty average meal on Tatooine, and some bread. "Thank you for making all this, Sola."

"Of course." she said, pulling her chair out and sitting down on it. "Someone has to feed us." She said with a big smile. "So how was your day?"

"It was actually quite eventful," she replied while dishing up food, and as she replayed the day in her head the strange situations she found herself watching still surprised her. So she started by retelling the story about Jasin Asteem selling his speeder and leaving the planet. "And then this strange man showed up, and his presence seemed almost heavy, if that makes sense. But anyway he showed up asking for a speeder, and since Jasin had just sold Folay one earlier, I was like 'wow that is perfect timing'. But then Folay tried to rip the man off by asking over double for it! So I couldn't just let it happen you know..."

Sola raised her eyebrows, then scrunched them. "Mio, what did you do..."

"I said something, and suggested he sell it for cheaper. And before you get after me, after a little persuasion, I got Folay to agree! He sold it to the man, who I later found out name is Ben Kenobi, for only 200 over the price he got it for. And then when he was paying, he also told me he's a traveler, which is so cool since I've never met one before. And plus he said he might be staying for a while so maybe I'll get to see him again." he paused. "Anyway, that was my day, probably one of the most eventful days of my life if I'm being honest." she said with pride, hoping that maybe the day would impress her friend.

"Wow, that sounds like a really crazy day there, girl," that wasn't the reply that Miona was hoping for. But now that she noticed it, Sola seemed a little out of it, to the point she could almost feel the nervousness floating off her, and it put Miona on edge.

"What," she asked, "is something wrong?"

"No, no..." Sola replied, the lines between her eyebrows deepening. "It's just..."

"Is the Ben guy looking for a place to stay?" Gil added out of the blue.

"Why- what-" now she was really confused. "how would I know that? And why? What's going on, you two?"

"We have to talk to you about something."

What was Sola wanting to talk about? And with Gil involved? They both side eyed each other, as if communicating silently. "What is it?" Miona asked while trying to keep her voice light to hide what she was really feeling underneath.

"Well," Gil said, not even making eye contact with her, his gaze flitting between Sola and his plate.

Sola sighed. "I don't know how to say this, but me and Gil want to move in together. Like, into a different house." upon seeing the look on Miona's face Sola continued hastily; "Don't worry, it won't be too soon, just until we can help you find someone else to live with that can help with rent... That's why Gil asked if the traveler you met needed a place to stay."

Miona couldn't barely even think. What a day this was shaping out to be. Despite all the feelings of betrayal and anger and confusion and sadness rolling around her brain, when she opened her mouth nothing came out. She didn't know how long she sat there in silence, staring at the half eaten food on her plate.

"Mio? Are you ok?" Sola asked, breaking a silence that seemed to last forever.

"I-" was the first thing she got out, "I, um, I think I need to be alone for now." she stood up, took her plate and placed it on the counter then walked back across the kitchen to a door that led to her room. She went inside and closed the door quietly and carefully then fell down onto her bed. She didn't even realize she was crying until she felt a single tear roll down her cheek.
