A Winter's Wish
It was a chilly evening, but it didn't stop Draco from planning the sleigh ride for the family. Astoria brought a couple of their thickest blankets, and Scorpius was bundled from head to toe in a scarf, thick mittens, socks, and winter cloak. The horse-drawn sleigh stopped in front of the gates entrance where the small family boarded. It had been a while since they all could enjoy the heavy winter snows, so they were going to make the most of it.
Draco summoned Dizzy shortly after the coach went on its way down the street. The house-elf appeared and offered everyone a fresh mug of hot chocolate and cookies to enjoy while on the ride, and she quietly excused herself shortly after the delivery.
Thankfully the snow stopped for the time being, giving the landscape a fresh layer that sparkled from the dim moonlight escaping through the clouds. Scorpius looked this way and that, a smile plastering his face as they passed by a batch of homes covered in lights. Their colors dying the snow around the area was a beautiful sight. Draco loved seeing the six year old take in the world around him—it was a rare experience.
"I want it to snow again," Scorpius said, turning his eyes to the sky once the lights faded away behind them. "Make it snow! Make it snow!"
"Sweetheart," Astoria responded, placing a hand on his over bundled shoulder. "Using magic to alter the weather isn—"
Scorpius waved his hands around, not caring. "Snow!"
Draco gently grabbed an arm to stop him. They both knew he was at that age where accidental magic could occur when he got too emotional. "Scorpius…"
Before he could finish, a white puffy ball landed on Scorpius' nose, and he squealed in delight. "Yay!"
Draco looked over his son's now snow-covered head to meet Astoria's gaze. She was holding in a laugh, and despite their soft scolding, they couldn't help but be impressed by Scorpius making his own personal snow flutter around only him.
