The fourth part of the first Thor movie. By this time, it's easy to guess Dalla knows the plan and has joined. But we saw her grief dismissed, so it's no wonder she's pissed at her twin and father.
Difference in this chapter: Dalla and Frigga have a scene
Loki left the chamber. Dalla had waited for her brother to seek advice. She reached for his arm as the door closed.
"I am to be king," he said. "Mother knew you no longer wanted the throne."
Dalla smiled, curtsied, and said, "Well, King Loki, I am happy for you."
"Thank you, sister."
She stood up. "I will wait to go to Midgard for now."
"I will miss you, Dalla."
She took his hands. "I may live on Midgard, Loki, but you would be able to call me whenever you needed my aid. I will happily come."
They hugged. When they pulled apart, she entered the bedchamber. She sat opposite of her mother.
"Loki told you," Frigga said. "What troubles you?"
"Father collapsed, mother," Dalla said. "I know Loki explained it."
"He did, though that is not how I wished him to learn of his heritage. But that is not all."
"How can he and I touch, let alone be in the same room with each other? We both should be harmed by such a thing."
Frigga smiled. "Because you love your brother, my sweet Dalla. From the moment your father brought him home, you loved him. It was your love for him that solidified our choice of adopting Loki as our son."
"When will Father wake?" The lump in Dalla's throat and tears in her eyes made the words strangled.
"I do not know. For now, support Loki. I will inform you both should he wake."
Dalla walked around the bed and kissed her mother's cheek. She left the room and told Loki what Frigga said. They shared a smile before the siblings went to the throne room, where Loki took the king's staff and sat upon the golden throne. Dalla couldn't have been more proud of him.
Suddenly, Sif's voice could be heard as she and the Warriors Three entered in salute, with her saying, "All father, we must speak with you urgently."
They were shocked into silence, seeing Loki on the throne. Dalla turned towards them, moving to her spot next to Loki as a personal guard would, hand on Eldr's hilt, relaxed but ready.
Making a statement, sister? Loki asked.
She didn't look at him, though she responded with, I am standing with you, brother, and until you give me leave, I will guard you.
Then, until none act as they are, you will be by my side as my guard, sister, and advisor. When my rule is secure, I will allow you leave to go to Midgard.
I am honored, my liege and brother. I humbly accept my new position.
"My friends," Loki said aloud.
"Where's Odin?" Fandral asked, the four of them coming towards the throne.
"Father has fallen into the Odinsleep. Mother fears he will never awaken again."
"We would speak with her," said Sif.
Dalla wanted to say something. They were acting as if they could not see who was in charge. Calm, sister, Loki said calmingly.
I have not attacked them as of yet, my king, she replied back, a smile in her voice though it never showed on her face.
"She has refused to leave my father's bedside," Loki responded to Sif. "You can bring your urgent matters to me." He stood, staff in hand and Dalla shifting to better protect him. "Your king."
Sif and the Warriors Three looked at each other, before Hogun asked, "Dalla? You agreed to this?"
"I have no wish to rule," she answered. "I do, however, wish to support my brother, who will be a better king than I ever would a queen."
With another round of looks before the four of them knelt Infront of Loki, followed by Sif saying, "My king, we would ask that you end Thor's banishment."
Loki scoffed, walked towards the four he and his sister called friends, and replied, "My first command cannot be to undo the Allfather's last. We're on the brink of war with Jotunheim. Our people need a sense of continuity in order to feel safe in these difficult times." As he walked down the steps, Dalla was no more than a foot away. "We must stand together for the good of Asgard."
Sif stood up fast in anger, causing Dalla to move more in front of Loki, ready to draw Eldr if needed. Fandral stopped Sif before things could go further.
"Yes, of course," said Fandral with a smile.
"Good," Loki replied, "then you will wait for my word."
"If I may," said Volstagg, "I beg the indulgence of your majesty to perhaps reconsider…"
"We're done," Loki said in finality.
The Warriors Three stood up, all in slow movements so as not to trigger Dalla. They left, but not before Loki and his sister saw the look on Sif's face. They knew they would need to do.
"Sister?" he asked.
Dalla said, "I stand with you, brother, no matter what."
"Just making sure."
"You fall, I fall with you."
"Then, to Midgard and our brother."
Loki and Dalla waited for the one questioning Thor to leave. They appeared before a nearly broken Thor. Loki was in an all black suit with a coat and scarf, Dalla in a red dress with black belt and jacket.
"Loki," Thor said in a quiet voice, "Dalla, what are you doing here?"
"We had to see you," said Loki in a soft tone.
"What is it? Is it Jotunheim? If you let me explain to Father…"
"Father is dead," said Dalla, her voice pale.
Thor fought his shock, his heart sinking. "What?"
Loki explained, "Your banishment, the threat of a new war, it was too much for him to bear."
"You mustn't blame yourself," Dalla said consolingly. "We know that you loved him."
"We tried to tell him so but…" Thor lowered his head.
"But he wouldn't listen."
"So cruel, putting the hammer within your reach, knowing you could never lift it." Loki paused. "The burden of the throne has fallen to me now."
Thor raised his head as Dalla said, "I could not take such a position. I find it difficult to keep even simple emotions in check at the moment. For now, I will guard Loki."
Thor struggled to find his voice before asking, "Can I come home?"
Dalla looked down as Loki said, "The truce with Jotunheim is conditional upon your exile."
"Couldn't we find a way…"
"Mother," said Dalla, "has forbidden your return."
"This is goodbye, brother," Loki finished. "I am so sorry."
Thor shook his head and replied, "No, I am sorry. Thank you both for coming here."
"Farewell," Loki and Dalla said in a heart breaking tone.
The siblings looked at each other for a moment longer before Loki and Dalla turned away, Thor saying, "Goodbye."
The two siblings made their way through the area to the hammer. Loki tried to pick it up as Dalla played lookout. When he could not lift it, she tried, also unsuccessful in her attempt. They both looked at each other, confident that if they could not lift Mjollnir, neither could Thor. They returned to Asgard, assured their plan would work.
