It was a stormy night and the Destiny's Bounty was flying through it. In his cabin, Sensei Wu used the spirit smoke and saw the ninja being surrounded by the Serpentine then saw himself being eaten by the Great Devourer. He opened his eyes and gasped in shock. 'If this vision is true, what could this mean for Ninjago?'
In the dining room, Kai, Nya, and Jay are keeping watch over the four silver Fangblades.
"Why is it that Torchfire Mountain is the only place we can destroy the Fangblades?" Nya asked.
"'Cause, the Fangblades are made from the original teeth of the Devourer. They're so strong they can only break down in extraordinary heat," Kai told her.
"Uh, could someone pass the salt?" Jay asked. Just after Jay asked, the Destiny's Bounty tilted which slid the salt shaker towards him. "Hey, thanks." Jay put some salt on his sandwich then Cole came in and he was green from air sickness.
Groggily, Cole said, "Please. No one talk about food." The boat tilted again as thunder roared through the sky causing Cole to lose his balance. Once he got back to the door, he asked, "How much longer until we get there?"
"Not long. Hey, Cole, you're looking a little green over there. How'd you like a mucus salt sandwich?" Cole covered his mouth and then ran outside to vomit. Jay laughed oni amusement. "Speaking of green, who would've guessed little Lloyd Garmadon turned out to be the Green Ninja?"
"I know. He was such a brat at first. It's hard to believe he's gonna become the greatest ninja that ever lived," Nya commented.
Kai cleared his throat "Where is that little runt?"
In the training room, Lloyd was practicing his moves. He put his hood up and in a western voice said, "Serpentine, it's time I Spinjitzu you back into the filthy holes you came from. Ninja kick!" He kicked a moving punching bag. "Tiger Claw! Ninja, go!" He attempted Spinjitzu but failed and was knocked back and forth between the training dummies.
Lightning flashed revealing Pythor laughing evilly over Lloyd. Lloyd removed his hood and tried to leave to warn the ninja but Pythor was invisible so he couldn't tell where he was. "What a joke. You were always a boy who chased stupid dreams."
Pythor picked Lloyd up and Lloyd tried to free himself. "Pythor! How did you get aboard? And how can Zane not smell you?!
"You think I would allow the ninja to steal the Fangblades from me? Besides, amazing what some powerful herbs can block one's natural scent."
"Ugh! You'll never get away with it! Hey..." Pythor tied Lloyd up and put ducktape over his mouth.
"Oh, tsk, tsk, tsk. I wouldn't worry about that. As they say, out of sight, out of mind." He disappeared and laughed, leaving Lloyd alone trying to escape and warn the others. 'I have to get out of here before it's too late.'
A tour bus stopped next to Torchfire Mountain. "Thanks, folks, for choosing the Ninjago Tour Company to see our land's most scenic destinations. And if you look to your left, you'll find Ninjago's very own Torchfire Mountain, where the core of the natural volcano can reach up to three bajillion degrees!" While the tourists took pictures, a boy saw the Bounty flying over the volcano.
"Look, Mommy, a flying ship," He pointed.
"Oh, honey, ships don't fly. Only planes."
The boy turned to his mother and said, "No, Mommy, it's a ship."
"Heh, uh-huh. That's nice, honey."
The bus left as the Bounty came to a stop and Nya made an announcement. "Will everyone please place their seat back and tray table in the full upright and locked position? We have reached our destination: Torchfire Mountain. Give it a minute while we settle into position." Sensei Wu was on deck distracted by the thought of the vision he saw earlier that day. Once the anchor was ready, the Ninja exited the cabin each with a Fangblade in hand.
Jay sighed as walked out, "It's roasting out here."
"It is indeed, I will consider myself lucky if I do not burn some of my fur from this hear."
"Heh. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen," Kai commented.
Zane then did a big sneeze. "You okay, you've been sneezing a lot the past few days."
Zane sniffed then said, "I am unsure. I have smelled something odd lately but I think it is from the kitchen. I will have to search for it after this mission."
Jay then noticed Sensei Wu standing on the edge distracted. "Hey, what's with Sensei?"
"I do not know. He's been distant all morning," Zane told them.
"Ah, it is beautiful, is it not?" Sensei Wu said looking down, seemingly lost in his thoughts.
"Sensei, we are ready for the destruction of the Fangblades, yet you seem disinterested," Zane said as he and the Ninjas walked to their master.
"You do not need my approval to finish the task."
"Uh, but Sensei..." Jay started but Sensei Wu stopped him. "Butts are for sitting. And besides, there will come a time when you will have to go on without me."
"Sensei, you're talking crazy. You've been alive for, like, forever." Cole nudged Kai for his comment at Sensei. "Ugh!"
"What he is trying to say is you are like the sunrise. We cannot begin a day without you," Zane told him.
"Ah, but even the sun must go down so a new day begins."
"I don't like metaphors. What are you trying to say? Are you leaving us again?" Cole asked hoping that wasn't the case.
Not able to hide his vision anymore, he told the Ninja who he saw earlier that day, "In meditation, my smoke visions have come to an end, and tomorrow, I cannot see. This worries me."
"But it could be a good omen, you know. We destroy the Fangblades, then everything's gravy," Jay said hoping to make the vision more positive.
"Let's just get rid of them, for good." The Ninja got the plank ready to destroy the Fangblades for good. Meanwhile, inside the generator room, Pythor snuck inside and destroyed a machine by throwing a hammer at it. This caused the Bounty to become unstable. The Ninja began to slide down and Zane tried to slow his fall with his claws but it wasn't working. However, Sensei Wu fell down the plank and was just hanging down the edge.
"Sensei! Hang on. We're coming," Cole told him as The Ninja threw the Fangblades on the desk. Wu fell, but the Ninja caught him. Cole was holding onto him with Zane holding Cole but Jay was holding onto Zane's tail since they fell fairly far. "Unh! You're not going anywhere, old friend," Cole told Sensei Wu.
"Thank you, Cole."
Kai was barely able to hold on to the plank since he was holding onto it with his feet. "Argh! Nya, what's going on?"
"Please hurry my friend. Jay holding my tail is most uncomfortable."
"Sorry, Zane!"
"Ah! Someone or something has overridden the system." Nya looked through the code and found nothing. 'Zane would have been able to find any enemy on the ship so how could someone hack the Bounty.'
In the training room, Lloyd managed to escape and uncovered the tape from his mouth. He pushed a button for the intercom and shouted, "Pythor's on board!" As his message echoed over the ship, the ninja looked behind them and saw Pythor with the Fangblades in his hands.
"Sorry if I don't lend a hand, but I'm really in a rush. Got this whole Devourer thing going on." Pythor chuckled and waved at the Ninja. "Toodaloo." He laughs and turned to find Lloyd with a Bo staff. "Where do you think you're going?"
Pythor sighed at Lloyd. "A little cliché, don't you think?"
"Uh, cliché?" Lloyd asked confused not knowing what the word meant.
"I wouldn't expect a child to understand."
"Hey, I've grown up a lot." Lloyd put his hood up and tried to attack Pythor but he evaded his attacks with ease.
"Hm, puny strength, no fundamentals, sloppy footwork. You think you can defeat me?"
"I'm not trying to defeat you. I'm just trying to keep you busy until the cavalry arrives." In her Samurai Mech, Nya came. she walked up to Pythor, who whimpered in fear. Lloyd kicked Pythor who fell against the staircase. "Haha, I hit him. I hit him, guys!"
"Oh, as much as I would like to play with your overgrown toys, I have a ride to catch." Pythor dodged all of Nya's attempts to grab him then jumped off the Bounty and landed on a Rattlecopter.
"No!"
"So long, suckers!" The Rattlecopter then flew in the direction of Ouroboros. Lloyd groaned as he and Nya watched Pythor fly away. 'Man, now what?'
"Don't let go!" Jay shouted at Kai.
"You think I don't know that?" Kai's feet couldn't stay on the plank any longer. The Ninja fell and nearly hit the lava but Nya caught them.
"Gotcha!"
"I don't think I've ever been more glad to see you," Jay commented.
"Feel the same. Come on, he's getting away."
"Look, there!" Jay pointed out as they watched Pythor fly away.
"The City of Ouroboros is miles away, this Rattlercopter will never get us there in time. They'll catch up to us."
"Don't worry, sir. We've already made preparations," Skales told him.
"What preparations?" They land next to the tour bus where there was several Serpentine waiting for them.
"I take it you're pleased?" Skales asked.
"Very. Very pleased, Skales."
The Serpentine landed where they were several humans and hybrids standing in fear and dust got into their lungs.
"Mommy, snakes are kicking people off the bus."
"Don't be silly, sweetheart. Snakes don't..." The Serpentine boarded the bus, forcing the passengers off the bus. Mezmo passed a plate of chicken and took it. "Yummy."
"See, Mommy? Snakes."
"Next stop: Ouroboros!" The bus drove off leaving the humans and hybrids behind in the desert.
As the Ninja prepare to go after the Serpentine, Lloyd brought the Golden Weapons. the suitcase that they were in was heavy so Lloyd threw the case to the ground. "If Pythor returns the Fangblades to the City of Ouroboros, he'll awaken the Great Devourer."
"Well, we're not gonna let that happen," Nya told him.
"Oh, what about me?" Lloyd asked as he picked up the case with the Golden Weapons.
"We need someone to stay with the Bounty," Kai told him.
"But did you see me kick him in the face? I'm an asset. I kick butt. And face." Lloyd kicked the air to show that he was a valuable member of the team.
"Patience, kid. You're too important now that you're the chosen one," Kai told him.
"Patience, hmm? Ah, the student has become the teacher," Sensei Wu said impressed with Kai.
"What do you say we play a little catch-up?" Jay said as he picked up his nunchucks.
"It's my favorite game," Cole told him.
"Ninja, go!" Using their Spinjitzu, they jumped off the Bounty and summoned their vehicles. They rode their vehicles down the mountain and to the road.
Jay, in his ride, spotted Pythor, "I've got him in my sights."
The confused and scared bus driver then asked the Serpentine, "Is this some kind of special tour?"
"Oh, shut up and drive," Pythor told him.
In a camera from behind, Pythor spotted the Ninja catching up to them, "Sir, the Ninja are on our tail. They'll catch up with us in no time."
"Ninja." Pythor grabbed a microphone and then said, "Good afternoon, my cold-blooded minions. If you look off to your left and behind you, you'll find Ninja. So annoying. So man your stations, chaps! We've got guests. Let's make sure we give them the ride of a lifetime." The Fangpyre soon turned the bus into the Serpentine Express.
"What is that? A truck?" Kai asked
"That is no truck. It is a moving fortress."
The Ninja continue to chase after the Serpentine, Cole was able to get close but the tail of the Serpentine Express nearly hit him. Cole was able to dodge the attacks but he couldn't get closer. "Argh!"
"Watch out! How are we supposed to get close to that thing?" Kai then noticed a Fangpyre and a Venomari in a small bubble on the side of the Serpentine Express with guns on the side of it. The two were shooting at Jay, Nya, and Sensei Wu.
Two more snake motorcycles jumped off the Serpentine Express and chased after Zane and Kai. They were able to catch up with Kai but he was ready for them. "Bring it on." Kai took out his sword and hit the one to his right. It flew in the sky and crashed to the ground. The Hypnobrai jumped on his vehicle and tried attacking him. Thanks to his quick thinking, Kai hit the brakes, causing the snake to fly in front of him and Kai zoomed off to catch up with the others.
Nya dodged the oncoming attacks from the Serpentine by moving around in her Samurai X armor. The tail of the Serpentine Express hit her but she was unharmed. Two more Serpentine on snake bikes came out ready to fight them. "We've got company." Nya looked at Sensei Wu and saw him drinking his tea. "Sensei!"
"Huh?" Sensei Wu put his tea and teapot away and grabbed the handles near his seat. "Let me see." with no issues he destroyed two of the Serpentine's vehicles with a large boomerang blade. "Oh, this is fun."
Lloyd screamed as he tried to pilot the Bounty. 'Man, I wish I was taller or at least had wings. I wish I could be down there to help.'
Two more Serpentine tried to attack Cole. One Fangpyre jumped on the window of Cole's car. Cole opened his window and sent the snake flying. A Constrictai tried the same thing but Cole released the wings on the side of his Tread Assault, sending the Constrictai off and to the side of the road. "If we have any chance at getting on that truck, we need to work together."
"I've got an idea. Jay, follow me. Zane, try to get in close and cool him off."
Jay and Nya proceeded to distract the Serpentine while Zane drove closer to the Serpentine Express. "Okay, I'm going in." Once Zane was close enough, he used his Spinjitzu to get on the Serpentine Express. "Ninja, go!" Zane kicked the Serpentine off and he threw his shurikens to the attachment and froze it solid. "Goodbye." Zane hit the frozen attachment with his tail which detaches the tail of the train. Now the Ninja can board the train.
"All right. Nice one, Zane. Now let's board that truck."
"We're running out of time. If the Ninja stop us from getting to the City of Ouroboros, we may never awaken the Great Devourer," Skales told Pythor.
"Don't lecture me. Faster!" Pythor demanded at the Guide.
"I can't. If we drive any faster, the engine could explode.
"Fine, then I'll do it. Get out."
"Now?"
"Now."
The Guide jumped out and thankfully was not injured upon landing. "I hate snakes."
"Don't let them reach the front," Pythor demanded.
"I'll personally see to it myself." Skales left and Pythor pushed the gas, making the train go faster.
Jay, Kai, and Cole joined Zane on the Serpentine Express. "Let's split up. Last one to the front is a rotten ninja," Kai told the others.
"All right." Jay used his Spinjitzu on some Serpentine playing a card game, kicking them out of the train. "Haha! Where'd everyone go?"
Kai walked across the top of the train but it was going so fast that he was having trouble staying on. Two Serpentine came out on the top to stop Kai, however, once the Fangpyre was on, the train was going to fast for him so he flew off. A Venomari hit Kai and he was barely hanging onto the side of the train.
On the inside, Zane was walking towards more Serpentine. "Time to cool down." Zane used his shurikens to freeze the Serpentine solid.
Zane looked to his left and saw Kai dangling on the side. "What? You try fighting up here." Kai climbed the side of the train, however, there was more Serpentine on top, ready to attack him. "Huh?"
Nya landed on the train ready to help her brother. "Mind if I interrupt?" Nya threw the Serpentine off the train with one swipe.
A Constrictai jumped near Sensei Wu. He jumped to dodge an attack from the Constrictai then asked, "Hmm, hold this, please."
He handed his teacup to Chokun."Oh, yeah." Sensei Wu poured him a cup of tea. "Thanks." Before Chokun could take a sip, Sensei Wu punched him off the train and caught the cup.
"Thank you."
Sensei Wu returned to his seat when suddenly, Kai saw a billboard. "Watch out!" Kai and the other Serpentine ducked quickly
"Duck! Duck! Duck!" Kai and the other Serpentine ducked quickly Nya was unable to.
"I'm trying. I can't." Nya and Sensei hit the billboard knocking them off the train.
The Serpentine laughed at the duo but forgot that Kai was there. "Ninja, go!" Kai used his Spinjitzu and knocked them off the train.
Nya threw the billboard off her Samurai X mech and Sensei Wu told her, "I told you to duck."
"I don't want to hear it." Nya flew off as fast as she could to catch up with the others.
Cole walked through the train with his scythe in his hand. He was cautious as he knew the Serpentine could be anywhere. He turned about and there was three Serpentine behind him. "End of the line, loser," Skales told him.
"Watch out." Cole spun his scythe in his hand then he summoned his Tread Assault.
Cole set up to fire a missile and Skales was terrified. "No. No, no, please." Cole fired a missile and blasted him off the train. This caused the other Serpentine to run away in fear.
Cole got rid of the Tread Assault and said, "I love this thing." Nya opened up the roof, scaring Cole, and everyone jumped in except Kai and Nya.
"Cole. Good to see you," Sensei Wu told him as Nya set him down.
"Good to see you too."
The engine started to catch on fire and the whole train started to shake. "Whoa!" Kai fell, but Zane caught him with ease.
"Heh. Nice catch, Zane," Jay told him as Zane set his friend down.
"Last one's a rotten ninja," Cole told them.
Kai ran ahead to the door. "Ah, so be it. But one more car to go." Kai could see through the window and saw Pythor at the wheel. "Pythor's in there with the four Fangblades. Who's first?" Before anyone could react, Wu ran in and detached the car.
"Sensei!" Jay shouted, shocked that their master would do something like this.
"What are you doing?" Cole asked.
"My destiny is to face Pythor alone. Your destiny is to look after Lloyd."
Annoyed, Kai said, "This is turning into a habit with him. How do we get off this thing?"
Pythor looked at the camera and saw that the car with the Ninja was detached. He laughed evilly. 'I win, Ninja. The Great Devourer will rise!'
As Lloyd was driving the Bounty, he looked beyond the wheel and spotted the Lost City of Ouroboros. "Ah! The Lost City of Ouroboros." He started to drive faster to help stop the Serpentine.
Sensei Wu walked into the car and Pythor turned around and saw him. "This ends now!" Sensei Wu told him.
"So be it." Pythor was ready to fight and then the two began their fight.
Cole yawned as everyone waited by the train. Nya's Samurai mech suit was broken since it was smoking and the others were fairly bored as they waited.
"This is really boring." Seconds after Nya said that Lloyd anchored the train. and started to bring them to the Lost City of Ouroboros.
"Lloyd!"
"Hook, line, and sinker."
"To Ouroboros as fast as you can," Kai told him.
"Aye, aye, captain." Lloyd did a hard turn and the train started to fly. They were going to the city fast. 'Hang on, Sensei. We're coming.'
"Ninja, go!" Pythor was forced to move back against Sensei Wu's spinjitzu. He tried hitting it but it wasn't working.
Pythor hit Sensei Wu harder and this time, it worked. The engine caught on fire as Pythor started to choke Sensei Wu with this staff. "You're getting slow, old man."
The mailman was on his bike as he was preparing to deliver his usual mail but he heard a weird sound. He stopped and turned and saw the Serpentine Express just a few feet away from him. The man screamed and started to ride faster than he had ever before.
Pythor was about to swallow Sensei Wu whole but he stepped on his tail. Pythor screamed in pain as he released Sensei Wu. Then Sensei Wu his Pythor on the head with his staff. 'Good thing, Zane told me how sensitive most creatures are about their tails.'
The train was going faster than the mailman could handle so the ditched his bike and jumped to the side. The train instantly destroyed the bike.
The train slowly started to turn to its side and it soon crashed near the city's entrance. Pythor was disoriented but with the four Fangblades in his hands and once he saw the city, he was ready to awaken the Great Devourer. Pythor started to slither to the center of the city and soon, he made it back to the statue of the Great Devourer. "Finally, the Great Devourer will be awakened." He inserted the Fangblades into their respectful places. "Perfect." He went to the center of the Slither Pit and waited. The venom of the Great Devourer started to seep out. Pythor laughed at the sight. The venom was starting to burn the ground slowly. "It's working! Awaken, great one! Awaken the insatiable appetite of the beast that will consume all of Ninjago!"
"What have you done!?"
"Don't you see? Releasing the Great Devourer is the only way to get back at the people of Ninjago for locking my kind underground for all those years. We should have been the ones ruling the surface, not you!"
'You are playing with a power that cannot be controlled. It will consume everything, even the Serpentine."
The rocks that made the Great Devourer statue started to crack. "Unleash, Great Devourer, and be free to do my bidding, for I have awakened you!"
The Ninja had finally arrived at the Lost City of Ouroboros. "Okay, Lloyd. Put us down right after that truck." Lloyd landed the train and the Bounty and everyone ran as fast as they could to the center of the city to save their master.
Lloyd went down the anchor chain and shouted. "Wait up, guys." Lloyd ran as fast as he could and caught up with the others.
The statue crumbled and to Pythor's surprise, the statue was empty. "No, no. It isn't inside the statue? Then where is it?" He felt the ground beneath him rumble. It began to crack and chip away. Pythor looked down and screamed in terror. "Aah! It's so big!"
Pythor tried to escape but Sensei Wu kept him in place. "You shall stay to see what you have done."
"Aah! Let me go, you fool! Don't you see? It's underneath us!" Pythor managed to shake Sensei Wu off him and tried to flee again but Sensei Wu grabbed him by the tail then spun around and forced Pythor to watch.
Sensei Wu didn't care what was going to happen to him as he told Pythor. "This is our destiny."
The Ninja had finally arrived only to see the ground cracking and a large creature underground. "What's going on? Who's that creature underground?"
Sensei Wu turned to his students and told them. "You must do everything in your power to stop the Great Devourer. Go, ninja! Go!"
"No, Sensei."
The Devourer shot out of the ground. The Ninja backed away in shock, it was the biggest snake any of them had ever seen. The Great Devourer roared at Sensei Wu and Pythor then lunged at them.

Sorry for such a late update. This summer has been a bit crazy for me as I have been taking a few summer classes. Anyway, one more chapter until the end of season 1. We're so close. See Y'all then.
