Today was another big day for the Loud family. Lucy Loud, the seventh child of Lynn Loud Sr. and Rita Loud, was going to get married. The man she was going to be tying the knot with was Rocky Spokes, the young brother of Rusty Spokes, a friend of Lucy's older brother Lincoln and a co-owner of Clincoln McCloud Comics with him.
When Lucy first had a crush on Rocky at 8 years old, her sisters had given her a makeover to make her more appealing to him. Rocky was at the time not enthralled with Lucy's interest in everything dark. Lori and Bobby took Lucy and Rocky on a double date to Hole-in-One-derland, a trip which ended in disaster.
Lucy decided to go back to the way she was, and it turned out Rocky thought Lucy was too cool for him. The two became friends. Over time, Rocky began to embrace the darkness more, as he thought Lucy was going to be the girl he spent the rest of his life with. With Rocky's transition to embracing the darkness complete by the eighth grade, he and Lucy began dating at that time. Upon graduation from Royal Woods High School, the two attended the University of Michigan together, and soon after graduation from UM, Rocky and Lucy began work on their first gothic novels, hoping to attract the attention of a major publisher.
By the time both were 23 years old, Lucy had witnessed her 6 older siblings get married. The Loud kids all made an agreement to get married in birth order, later adjusted to getting married at age 23. Three years had passed since the last wedding of a Loud kid, that of Lincoln and the former Ronnie Anne Santiago.
Lucy and Rocky wanted a gothic wedding. They sought out a gothic mansion, both in exterior design and interior design, that was open to hosting their wedding. As such, guests were expected to dress in black. Even the musical entertainment, the Moon Goats, fronted by Lucy's older sister Luna, dressed for the occasion, and performed darker songs than they were accustomed to.
As was procedure for most Loud kid weddings, Lynn Sr. and Rosa teamed up to cater the event, with a focus on dishes that would be befitting for a gothic wedding, in accordance with Rocky and Lucy's wishes. As has been the case at all Loud kid weddings, Lynn Sr. was expected to have an extreme emotional breakdown at the wedding.
Everyone from previous Loud kid weddings, excluding Mick Swagger, whose appearance at Luna and Sam's wedding was a one-time deal, was expected to be in attendance. The Moon Goats again played for free, because of Luna and Lucy being sisters. Luna, along with Leni and Lori, were now in their 30s.
The priest who officiated previous Loud kid weddings except for Luan's would officiate this one, although he was quite shocked by the environment of this wedding, given the dark mood of the wedding that Rocky and Lucy wanted.
"I understand the bride and groom have written their own vows," the priest said.
Rocky began to speak first. "When I first met you, I was very scared of you since I thought you were too cool for me. You tried to change yourself in order to appeal to me, but that didn't work out. I would accept you for what you really were, and over time, I began to embrace the darkness myself in an effort to make myself more appealing to you. These efforts paid off, and now we stand here at a gothic wedding about to become a couple. I'm very glad to spend the rest of my life – and afterlife – with you. So I, Rocky Spokes, take you, Lucy L. Loud, to be my lawfully-wedded wife."
Lucy spoke her vows next. "Changing myself for you I admit was a huge misstep in our relationship. I attempted to become something I was not. As I said before, you can take the girl out of the coffin, but you can't take the coffin out of the girl. You becoming just like me was what was needed to take our relationship to the next level. I eagerly await spending the rest of my time on Earth, and all of eternity after death, with you. So I, Lucy L. Loud, take you, Rocky Spokes, to be my lawfully-wedded husband."
The priest began to speak, "is there anyone in this room who objects to the union of these two? If so, speak now or forever hold your peace." There was complete silence, indicating that everyone at the wedding approved of the couple to be. The priest then said, "with that out of the way, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride." Rocky and Lucy engaged in their first kiss as a married couple. From this moment forward, Lucy would be known as Lucy Spokes. Already friends and co-owners of Clincoln McCloud Comics, Lincoln and Rusty would now be brothers-in-law. And as expected, Lynn Sr. had an extreme emotional breakdown.
The Moon Goats' set for this wedding was quite different from previous Loud kid weddings they performed out. They performed songs with dark themes would appeal to Rocky and Lucy, along with songs better suited for a Halloween party, such as "Monster Mash". Meanwhile, everyone at the wedding enjoyed tasty food made by Lynn Sr. and Rosa.
With this wedding in the books, just four Loud kids had yet to get married – Lana, Lola, Lisa, and Lily. Lana's wedding would be first as she was the older of two twins. Lana and Lola were now seniors at the University of Michigan, and Lisa was a junior. Meanwhile Lily was about to enter her senior year at Royal Woods High School before going on to attend UM herself.
Lana has been dating Carl Casagrande, also attending the University of Michigan, since age 12. She couldn't wait to get married to him. She would be the third Loud kid to get married to a member of the Santiago-Casagrande family, after Lori, who married Bobby, and Lincoln, who married Ronnie Anne. Lana hoped these next two years would go by fast. The wait would be worth it in the end.
