So... It's been a while.

I know it was wrong that I was gone for a year from this story and not even remotely active on my profile. It's not that I didn't want to write this story, as I am the kind of person that must finish something that they start, but the lack of motivation got to me, along with the fact that my writing wasn't excellent.

Then, after a long time, I had an epiphany.

I saw the anime trailer showing that the journey of Ash Ketchum was going to end. I always had a feeling that this day would sadly come; I merely wished that we had more time to be together. That ten-year-old has been here since the start, and after rewatching Journeys along with Diamond and Pearl, I can now come out of my hole.

I will write this story to completion, no matter how many months or years it may take! I am a 15-year-old with nothing but my silly little laptop, and that is all I need!

LET'S SEE THIS TO THE END!

The Very Best:

Chapter 19:

A Girl named Green, And A Green Boy

Opening (If you want to): Fly High! (From Haikyu!, performed by BURNOUT SYNDROMES)

"Charmeleon!"

"No. We already went that five days ago." Green told her Pokémon, her little cinnamon roll, as they attempted to find Vermillion City.

The fire type just groaned as she attempted to help out the person she called Trainer, who would have probably thought that up meant north if she wasn't told otherwise. Pyra wished she could say this wasn't a daily thing, but that would be an awful lie. It was more like an hourly thing. Green had determination and survival skills, but her directional talent was below zero. The ten-year-old once thought that the rising sun was accidentally north and caused them to go in the wrong direction for Viridian City.

It was a miracle that Green knew what directions were.

Pyra followed her Trainer into some of the more full trees as they were so far off the path. Nothing on the map that Green had since Pallet Town gave them any significant landmarks that they could go off of, although Green couldn't tell as her Pyra was always on map duty. The Pokémon often wondered if she was the one training the other in this relationship. But despite everything, Pyra would follow this girl to the bottom of the ocean if she had to.

Pyra made her way through the trees to see that Green was getting excited over a semi-large rock that was there. "Look! Look! We found a rock and a new landmark!"

Pyra responded with a grumble and a facepalm hard enough to leave a mark. "Char..."

"Don't be like that. This one is different from the last two rocks and Graveler that we encountered!" She told her Fire-type with a sunny smile. Pyra can only play along since it is near impossible to snap Green out of something she is focused on. The girl had spent two days tracking down a Shellder that was surprisingly hard to track down, and she knew that it just had to be part of her team. That Water-type made a fine addition to her team.

"Notice how this one doesn't just have one indent, but two?"

Green was at least correct on that part, but Pyra still had doubts since going off rocks last time made them go around in a deformed square shape. Pyra didn't pay attention as Green was praising the rock near them as she noticed a clear trail that was a little bit away from the stone on the left. It was behind a fallen tree and some shrubbery; however, it was still there.

"Char." The Pokémon pointed the way with a look that screamed tired. Green looked over and, after a few seconds, saw the trail just within reach.

"Good eye, Pyra." Green went over to pick up her Pokémon until she was under her armpit and held her close to her side. The Pokémon was used to this and just shot some fire from her nose in a somewhat content way. "Vermillion City, here we come!" She yelled as she ran for the trail.

The two happily ran down the path as they were surprisingly close to Vermillion, only a simple ten-minute run. Green marveled at the seaside city, Pyra also enjoying the view as well as she stood next to her best friend. The two saw the same Machop that Ash had encountered and saw that construction was already in the works. She giggled at seeing everything here.

"Isn't this great?" She asked excitingly. She picked up Pyra again with no issue and began to run straight ahead. "Let's run around! We can find the gym later."

As she said this, Pyra saw the gym only a simple walk away from them. "Meleon!" Her yell at this was met with no response from Green, making the Fire-type facepalm again. She knew not to waste energy getting mad as they went to the docks. Pyra guessed she could get a nice view of the ocean before dragging Green by the ear once again.

A ship was just stationed as people started to leave. This specific ship was the S.S. Anne, a colossal titan of engineering and metal, making the buildings look like mere things that it would crush on. It has completed its trip from Hoenn to Kanto as there were no significant complications for the people exiting the ship. Tourists, Trainers, reporters, and such were leaving the boat they all had been stuck on for days, getting sent off by the crewmates there.

"Enjoy Kanto!"

"Hope you enjoyed your time here!"

"Good luck with whatever!" These are just some things they would tell the people as they left, although not many responded to this fond farewell. A twelve-year-old boy was going through the line as he tried his best not to push people by accident. He came to the ramp down as that worker waved him goodbye.

"Enjoy your stay!"

The kind kindly smiled back. "I promise I will." He told him as he made his way down. He stepped away from the boat and sat on a bench not too far away, not occupied by anyone. He sat down and reached into his brown messenger bag, and took a small notebook and pen out.

"June 28th. Arrived in the Kanto Region after a few days. It's not the Kalos or Unova that I hoped for, but I will try my best to work with this and blend in!" He wrote down with great handwriting as he looked around him, noticing how his clothes weren't like everyone's here. He jotted down again. "Note to self, find a way to blend in after completing the gym."

He placed his stuff away as he stood up, taking a good breath as he smelled the salty air. His appearance was rather odd by Kanto standards. He was slightly short for his age, on the skinnier side, with messy green hair that stood up. His wardrobe was a white shirt with an oversized collar under a pastel blue jacket with large buttons. Gray slim-fit trousers that had turn-ups on the ankles and slip-on shoes that were white with pastel blue soles. Bluish gray eyes complimented his nice pale skin.

The most striking thing was his oddly shaped pendant, a rainbow-colored stone resting inside it. He grabbed the necklace as he walked passionately, trying to be less shy and not to draw immediate attention. "This is it," He mentally told himself as he walked across the concrete. "Your chance at getting into the Kanto League is about to sta-"

Suddenly, Green ran right past the boy and scared the daylight out of him. The poor boy fell to the ground and landed on his rear. Green realized what she had done as she and Pyra approached the green-haired boy. "Oh. My bad."

"Don't worry. I should've been paying attention much better." He responded. The boy took the hand offered, surprised at how strong the girl was when he was helped up. The two got a good look at each other as Green was curious about him.

"You don't look like you're from Kanto." She remarked with brutal honesty. "I do like your green hair, though, and your necklace thingy."

"Cha." Pyra nodded, mainly with the first part.

He looked at himself as he quickly dusted off his nice jacket. "My apologies. I just arrived here from Hoenn, and I still need-"

"You came here from Hoenn?!" Green interrupted him again as she became thrilled. Her happy giggle made the boy sweat drop. "How's it like there? Where did you live? Is the volcano cool? What kind of Pokémon live there? What's with the necklace? Is that a thing you guys have? Is the water water over there?"

"Um... I..."

"Char." Pyra saw just how nervous the boy was getting at the overwhelming questions. Green looked down at her Fire-type as she made a good point. "Meleon. Char charme. Charmeleon."

Green slammed her fist on her hand. "You're right." She faced the boy again. "I should've asked for your name first. My name is Green, and this is my amazing partner, Pyra." Pyra moved her head slightly as a greeting. "So, what's your name?"

The boy understood what she asked for as he straightened himself out, offering a small smile to the pair. "It's Wally." He said respectfully. "I'm a Pokémon Trainer that came here for the league."

"Wally?" Green thought, nodding her head. "I like that name. I was going to nickname someone from an anime I watch, but I like your name already. He has green hair as well."

"Um. Thank you?" Wally wasn't sure what to make of Green. He knew not to judge quickly, but he would struggle if everyone in Kanto acted like this. "If I remember correctly, there should be a gym here. Could you point it to me?"

"I don't know where the gym is," Green admitted as Wally saw that this girl wouldn't be able to help with that. "We just got here, and we wanted to see how big the boats were."

"I see. Well, I need to be off." Wally said with kindness. Even though he was done with this, Green wasn't.

Green thought before shaking her head. "No." She told him with an excited smile. "I want us to be friends, which means we must be stuck together until you accept me! Let's walk around!"

"Huh? What ar- AHHH!"

Wally couldn't react as Green grabbed his arm and began to drag him away from the docks. His thin legs quickly moved to prevent the boy from falling again as he tried to keep up with Green, who was very strong for the somewhat shaky boy. He tried his best to be confident as he went for the kind refusal first, but something stopped him.

"Char. Char." Wally heard Pyra explain to him casually. The female Pokémon was trying to save the boy's strength for when he needed it.

Wally stunned look made Green offer a carefree smile. "Come on! I know that you'll have fun!"

Wally was indeed at a loss for words. "I guess I'm starting Kanto off like this." He uncomfortably thought.

The rather bizarre pair, with Pyra close behind, made their way across Vermillion. They saw the incredible sights and buildings that rested on the city by the shore, seeing how the sun reflected off of everything there. There were towns like this in Hoenn, but all this was new and expanded the boy's view. He took in the air, smelling how it was far cleaner than in Hoenn. He hoped that his condition wouldn't occur, at least until he spent more time here.

"Isn't this fun?" Green asked him with a big smile. Wally wasn't sure what to say, as he couldn't call it boring. Barley avoiding oncoming cars and dancing across the rather bust streets were not something he would've done.

"I guess." He honestly admitted. His hand was still locked to Green's as the pair suddenly stopped.

Both saw the Pokémon Fan Club in front of them. They saw the sign that showed that people like them were welcomed in, and Green had a great idea come to mind. Pyra saw the smile growing on Green's face as she braced herself, knowing what was to come.

"Why don't we go inside?"

Wally was surprised. He may be a fan of Pokémon, but he wasn't particularly interested in this kind of stuff. "Well, I don't like being-"

He was interrupted again as Green happily ran in, dragging the boy. "Meleon," Pyra called out to them, running after the two with her red legs.

They entered and saw the various people there appreciating their Pokémon and saw how the two cared for each other. There were many kinds of Pokémon there, all with great personalities they had gained from years of being with their Trainers. Pyra scoffed at seeing how she wouldn't be like this, even though she practically melted when Green gently scratched her neck.

Wally looked around and saw the great bond everyone had, reminding him of home and his Pokémon. "I may have misjudged this place."

"Are you two new here?" An older voice asked them. The three turned to see that Raoul was there and giving a formal smile, dressed as well-formed as before.

Green took Raoul's hand and happily shook it, making the man chuckle. "We're just checking out what you have here. You look good."

"Thank you. I get that quite a lot." Raoul pleasantly took as he saw the two, Wally trying his best to maintain good posture. "If neither of you has anything to do now, why don't we chat? There will be dangos." That last part thoroughly convinced Green and Pyra.

"I love dangos!"

"Char!" The two said at once as Raoul guided them to a private table to chat. The man saw that Wally wasn't moving as the shy boy was thinking about doing this.

"Are you alright? It's fine if you don't wish to come."

Wally heard this as he released a small sigh, walking over to them with a small smile. "I can stay for a little. My other stuff can wait."

Raoul smiled at the young man as they entered one of the private rooms, taking seats at the long, wooden table. The chairs were well made and highly comfy; Pyra released a soft moan after having her back rest on the thing. Pyra sat beside her Trainer as the three people sat close to one another, Wally on the opposing side of Green with Raoul in the middle.

Raoul ensured they were all comfortable in their seats before clearing his voice. "I appreciate you two for coming this day," He began with a charitable voice. "But I should probably introduce myself before much else. Raoul Contesta at your service, though you may call me 'Mr. Raoul.'"

"Hi, Mr. Raoul." Green waved cheerfully. "This is Pyra," She pointed to her Fire-type, who was already trying to fall asleep in the unbelievably comfortable seats. "And this guy is Wally. He just got here from Hoenn!"

"Really?" The man looked at Wally as the boy tried to assert himself after being introduced. "I came here from Hoenn myself. I decided to move here after hearing about the Pokémon Contest they have. I'll start judging them again when the summer ends."

"If you judge Pokémon Contest, then why are you here?" Wally asked.

"The old boss of this place wanted me to be in charge since he couldn't run it anymore, and I was happy to help him out. I have run this place during the summer for the past few years." Raoul explained as he went on to the next topic. "Would any of you care to hear about my Pokémon? My Rapidash is quite a gal."

"Before that, Mr. Raoul, can we show off our Pokémon?"

Raoul thought before nodding his head. "Why not?" He rhetorically questioned. Green happily stood up and shook Pyra awake, ruining the Fire-type's chance at getting a nap. "How long have you been raising Pokémon?"

"I've been starting since April!" Green happily replied as Pyra tried to rub her eyes. The ten-year-old took out three other Poke Balls and brought her mouth down to them. "Come on out!"

Green threw out all the Pokémon she had collected after all this time, having a new addition to her team, Shellder. Shellder was a bivalve mollusk Pokémon encased in a spiky, blue-violet bivalve shell. She had two round white eyes with tiny black pupils. Her red tongue was enormous. "Shell." She passionately said as she was brought out.

In the line were Pyra, Luna, Viney, and Aurora, who was Shellder, all lined up for Raoul to examine. The experienced man looked at them with a calculative and exceptionally perceptive gaze. "Interesting." He said after a moment. "All of these Pokémon have been raised with care. Although, they seem rather sleepy at the moment."

"Thanks'." Green accepted as she petted Luna and Pyra, placing a little boop on Aurora's shell. "You girls and guy always do great. Do the nappy thing." She encouraged.

They nodded as they were sent back into the Poke Balls except Pyra, Aurora was annoyed at the chance to get some fresh air and quickly went away. "Your team is quite well-rounded for only three months, though a full team would be encouraged," Raoul added as Wally sat in his seat, seeing what Pokémon this girl had with her.

"I thought your team was pretty good, Green." Wally complimented kindly as Green sat back down.

"What about you, sir? Do you have a team to show the ladies and me?" Raoul's question made Wally the center of attention, making him freeze up a bit.

He looked at the ground as his hand rested on his bag. "I do have a team, but it might be more than you would expect." He explained in a slightly mousy way. "I don't want to upstage Green."

"Don't worry," Green spoke up and encouraged him. "Do it for your Pokémon!"

"Charmeleon!" Pyra said as well with droopy eyes.

"A Pokémon team shouldn't be anything to be embarrassed or disappointed about," Raoul told him as he pointed a finger into the air. "You're the one who personally made the team, raised them, and allowed them to work together. Besides, not all teams can be created equally."

Wally heard the two as he saw them waiting patiently for him to answer. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, opening them with new confidence and determination. The slightly timid nature he had vanished as he was doing this for his Pokémon. He grabbed his necklace tightly as he knew that being shy or nervous wouldn't get him anywhere.

"Alright," He finally said as he reached into his bag, taking out a Poke Ball. "I shouldn't be afraid to show the world what I've built in these two years."

He tossed the Poke Ball one at a time as everyone saw what Wally's team was. Pyra's sleepiness went away at the team this boy had assembled all on his own, her eyes bulging at what she saw. Green had the biggest smile on her face as Raoul was pleasantly surprised, though he had seen all these Pokémon before. All of Wally's Pokémon were ones you could find in Hoenn, and they were all new. Azumarill was the only familiar one for Green.

The most minor threat on his team was Delcatty. Delcatty was a quadrupedal, feline Pokémon with a primarily tan body. She had a pointed, whisker-like protrusion on each cheek. Her purple ears had three tufts of fur on the tips, and there was a purple ruff-like collar with pin-like extensions around the neck—slim legs with tiny paws. Finally, a purple flower-like tuft of hair was on the end of her thin tail.

Wally's most bizarre-looking Pokémon would go to Magnezone. Magnezone was a robot-like Pokémon that resembled a UFO. The steel body it had was wide and circular, similar to a disc or saucer, with a thin edge circling the diameter of its body. A large red pupil rested in the center. On each side of the body, there was a ball-shaped addition with an eye, horseshoe magnet, and head screw. On top of its head was a tall, thin, yellow rod. Behind its body was a third horseshoe magnet, though this one acted like a tail.

His Dragon-type was the rather affectionate Altaria. Altaria was a blue, avian Pokémon. His body and cloud-like wings were covered in fluffy, white feathers. Two long, blue plumes extended from the back of his head. He had a short, hooked beak and prominent cheek patches, both of which were white. Additionally, His eyes were beady and black. His neck was oddly long, and his short legs protruded from the fluffy body. The tail had five feathers, the outer two longer than the inner ones.

The second to last new Pokémon was the bouquet Pokémon herself, Roserade. Roserade was a bipedal Pokémon with an appearance that incorporates features of roses and masquerade attire. She had hair made of white rose petals and a long green cape with a yellow, collar-like bangle on the neck. The cape pattern reached the back of the head in spiky, sepal-like extensions on the hair. She had a dark-green mask over her red, yellow-lidded eyes. The lower portion of her face was light green. She had a bouquet in each hand, a red on the right and blue on the left, as her feet ended feet with yellow tips. Azumarill was also there, but I've already mentioned that.

However, Wally's last Pokémon was his strongest. A powerful Psychic-type that stood at a height much greater than others of his kind.

At a staggering six feet was Wally's ace Pokémon, Gallade. Gallade was a white, Bishōnen-like Pokémon. His lower body had rounded hips with solid legs. He had a thin green torso with sharp, red horns sticking out of the chest and back. His arms resembled tonfas with extendable, blade-like elbows. The head resembled a gladiator's helmet with a white face, red eyes, and a teal head crest. Spikes were on each side of his face. Gallade looked around with his incredible height as his presence was so calming, yet so powerful at the same time.

The tall Pokémon gave a respectable bow with his left hand at seeing the new people. "Gallade." The other Pokémon did the same, as Gallade had taught them all about fairness.

"Oh my." Raoul thought Wally was merely exaggerating when he didn't want to upstage Green. Pyra and Green had their jaws on the floor as the Fire saw all these Pokémon that were easily above level 60 compared to her, not even being in the 30s yet. Green was practically jumping in excitement as the Pokémon saw who it was.

"SO COOL!" Green's enormous smile showed all her teeth as Delcatty sensed the highly positive energy coming from the girl. The cat gave a very soft smile as Green went down to hug the cat Pokémon. "I KNEW WALLY'S TEAM WOULD BE AMAZING!" She told Pyra, as the Pokémon liked how they were complimented. Wally seemed surprised at hearing his team being called 'cool.'.

"I'm sure you would find better teams than mine." He thought to himself.

Altaria went up to the star-stricken Pyra, giving a friendly smile to the unevolved Pokémon. "Taria." Her soft voice was so soothing as Pyra still had her mouth open, looking up and down at the Dragon-type. Pyra looked at the highly fluffy body, then up at Altaria. The Dragon-type gave a kind nod.

Pyra's hand practically melted in the soft body, Pyra giving a relaxing moan as she planted her face in there. "Char." Her voice seemed drowsy as Altaria chuckled at how tired the Fire-type looked.

Raoul was looking through each of Wally's Pokémon and saw just how well-trained they were. This boy did know what he was doing, as each of them was respectful to the judge. When Raoul examined Roserade, the Grass-type sent a flirtatious smile to the man. "Rose." She taunted.

Raoul's face became red briefly as he quickly moved to the next one. He saw how Pyra tried to make Altaria her pillow, but the Dragon-type gently pushed her away. Gallade was the last one, and the size alone would intimidate opponents. "Gal." Gallade was very well-behaved, as this was Wally's first Pokémon.

Raoul finished up as he looked at Wally. "I don't even think I should even start with an introduction. This team results from hard work and practice, and it shows." He told Wally. "Not only is this team well-balanced, but each can stand on their own two feet."

"Thank you." Wally happily took as Azumarill bounced into his arms, holding the cute Fairy-type. "I put a lot of effort into this team. They always have my back, and I should do the same for them."

Raoul clapped for the boy as Green hugged Wally, the boy a bit overwhelmed by this praise. "No offense, Green, but Wally's team is much better. Although, your nicknames for the team is not something most Trainers would do."

Surprisingly, Green took this. "With this big guy," She pointed to Gallade, the Psychic-type looking down at her. "I can see that. But I'll become stronger than Wally! Pyra will show off her fire tail to the whole world!" Gallade looked at Pyra, sensing her strength.

Raoul looked at Wally with a smile. "I can't believe you were afraid to show this team off. Compared to most, this is quite powerful." Wally was glad that his team was getting recognition, something he hoped to get more of. He wanted to be more than just a shy boy.

Wally petted his Azumarill and Delcatty, the latter that Green had liked. "Thank you for doing this, but I worry I wasted your time." He told them as he took out the Poke Balls. "I appreciate you guys." All the Pokémon gave a slight bow as they were each sent back into the Poke Balls simultaneously. Pyra's head hit the floor as Altaria was called back, grumbling as she had to lay on the boring chairs.

"Join my group!" Green told Wally as if it was the best idea ever. Wally gave a slight frown.

"Sorry, but I rather not bother you when this is all done."

"Hmm." Green shook her head. "No. I'm refusing your refusal!" Wally sighed after hearing that, not wanting to argue with this girl. He knew how annoying he could be, as he would often talk to himself and write down in his journal, and he didn't want another Trainer to deal with that.

"If I may?" Raoul spoke up as he signaled for them to sit with him. Everyone sat at their chairs as Pyra fussed at the not-as-soft chair she was forced to be with. "I just wanted to tell you about my Pokémon, if it's not too much trouble. I understand if you wish to leave now."

The two thought as they decided to repay the man for examining their Pokémon for them. "I don't see why not." Raoul nodded as Wally said that.

"Hmm. Where should I start?" He snapped his fingers as he figured it out. "So, I have this Rapidash that is currently at level 50. She is a very kind and understanding Fire-type, although she can be quite rowdy when a hot sun is out. She is so fast with the four strong legs she has with her. I've had her since I was a child, and I have loved her since I got her as a Ponyta. She is generally okay with all Pokémon types, but she tries to avoid Rock-types as much as possible. That girl often helps me with the judge scoring as I always have to make her not be negatively biased against Rock-types if they are part of the show. The fire she has is so warm as..."

Raoul got lost as he talked about his beloved Rapidash. Pyra was lucky to sleep before the story started, and Green fell asleep after only five minutes. Wally was awake as hearing each detail of this one Pokémon could be considered advanced torture. The boy didn't want to be rude or speak up to the person that complimented his team. And so, Wally was the only one awake for a story that could fill a massive book and still have pages left over to tell.

After a full hour of this, Wally couldn't hold it in anymore. "Each piece of hair must be brushed at least once a day. You woul-"

Wally looked at his watch and pretended to look surprised. "Oh no!" He yelled with fake shock as he quickly stood. "I'm sorry, Mr. Raoul, but I realized how late it was." He went to Green and Pyra and quickly shook them awake.

Green woke up with a moan as Pyra woke up from a nice nap. Now, the Fire-type was ready for the Gym Leader. "Char." She said positively.

Raoul sighed as his story was cut off. "Well, I suppose that I have wasted enough of your time. For your troubles, and journey ahead, I wish to present a gift."

"A gift?" This made Green fully awake as she zipped right to him. "What gift is it, oh fine-looking man?"

Raoul smiled as he presented the girl with a slip of paper. All three saw this was a free voucher for a bike in Vermillion City's store! It said this was a one-time use and that all bikes under seven hundred million Poké Dollars are viable for purchase. "You deserve something for listening through my story."

"Me?" Green tilted her head. " I fell-"

"In love with how you described your story!" Wally quickly finished, as he didn't want to reveal that he was the only one awake. He smiled at Raoul as he gently began to push Green away. "That was close."

Raoul smiled and waved goodbye. "I bid a fine, but not too great, farewell from my heart."

"Thank you, sir," Wally responded as he looked back at Raoul.

"Bye, Mr. Raoul!" Green happily waved back as they escaped the room they had all been stuck in, Wally dragging them out. Pyra did the same as her Trainer.

"Charmeleon!" Raoul smiled as he was alone in the room, seeing that this story was one of the shorter ones. At least it wasn't as bad as with Ash and company.

As the three were being sent goodbyes by the people there, Wally stopped when he saw something on the wall. He noticed how the wall looked like it was just rebuilt, as there was still no paint on it, and a sign read: There was a broken wall here, but now we fixed it!

"What happened here?"

"Oh. That?" A girl went over as Wally wondered about this. "Just some guys came in and attacked us. But don't worry, this new wall is as fragile as the old one!"

"... Sure," Wally was quickly dragged away as Pyra went back for him. The boy would never say it aloud, but he was glad all this was over. Now they can focus on getting the gym badge here and moving on. At least they got a free bike out of this.

"Come on; we'll get there soon!" Green thought hopefully as they walked around the place.

"That's what you said the past... two hours ago." Wally checked his watch as he tried not to get annoyed, but it seemed impossible.

The boy couldn't believe that this simple task of finding one building was taking this long. Instead of simply going from point one to point two, they were to numbers that even they didn't know about. In this simple travel, they went through a bridge multiple times, a wonky shape around a park, two times seeing the same Quilava, that was angry over her wrong order, and even going through a forest outside the city.

Through some strange forces, Green's awful sense of direction affected those with her. Back with Ash and co, they had Brock tell them when they were veering off the path.

"Char." Wally was grateful that Pyra was there to comfort him during this. The boy felt glad that someone sensible was with him through all the trouble, but that didn't deter him from what he had gone through. Green happily walked in front as Wally sighed.

Something got the boy's eye as he looked ahead and saw that the gym was merely a straight line away. "W-Wait! I see the gym!" He said in pure excitement. Pyra saw this as well as her patience paid off.

"Oh. Cool!" Green remarked as she stepped ahead. "I can lead the way."

Wally became very concerned after hearing that. The boy was always observant of everything around him, and he knew that this simple straight line could cost them another twenty minutes. He saw how Green seemed to cause this as he had no way to nullify her since he was sadly ill-prepared by not bringing a map of Kanto with him.

Wally knew he was rude, but he didn't know how long he could go on for. "Why don't I do it?" He tried to be kind as he said it. "You should let someone else be in charge."

Green didn't see the ulterior motive, and she happily nodded. "Let's hold hands, at least." She first started by grabbing Pyra's hand, which the Fire-type was used to, and the girl went for Wally's hand.

Wally was surprised as Green grabbed his hand, and it was with force like the other times. Wally grimaced at feeling the tight squeeze again as he led everyone to the gym. Green happily smiled as she looked around, Wally dealing with his fingers being crushed together.

The boy couldn't hold it in anymore. "Can you please be less tight? My hands hurt?"

To his surprise, Green listened. The girl lessened her grip as she smiled, apologizing for that inconvenience. Wally was a bit surprised. Though Green seemed like a kind girl, she didn't appear to be a person actually to listen to complaints like that. Wally was grateful for this but still kept a level head. He knew that this wasn't worth speculating about.

If the videos, and general opinions, were true, then Lt. Surge could be a significant roadblock for him.

Green and Wally walked in as the place was rather dark. Pyra's tail illuminated the area by a little as the same man and woman that Ash and co encountered made themselves known. "Look at these two," The man told the girl.

"This isn't a place for kids." She warned them with a sleazy smile. "I would be going if I were you."

"W-Well, we are here to get the badge." Wally seemed a little intimated by these two, mumbling as he said the sentence through.

"We aren't leaving until we get that badge!" Green spoke with serious intent. "Show me that war guy, and I'll show you a winning battle!"

The two smirked at seeing these two, liking the girl for her big mouth. "Lt. Surge!" She called.

The massive man stepped out from the shadows; he grinned at the two, his dog tag hanging from his neck. "Aww. These two look so cute!" He jokingly said that this guy's size didn't faze Green or Pyra, but Wally went dead silent.

"Hey, big man!" Green called out to Surge with a fist bump ready. The veteran found this humorous and decided to return this for the girl. "I'll fight you, one on one!"

"Oh. A strong girl, I see." He remarked as he looked at the three. "Alright, I can give you a nice whop-"

The man was surprised as he looked at Wally. At first, he didn't seem like anything worth paying attention to. The boy wasn't physically intimidating in the slightest, and he overall seemed rather timid, at least to him. But when he saw what was around the boy's neck, a smile broke out across, for he knew exactly what Wally could do.

"Hey, dwarf." Wally was surprised and a bit annoyed as Surge called him. "Are you also here for my badge?"

Wally corrected himself as his face became calmer. "Yes, sir. I came here from Hoenn, and I wish to challenge the Kanto League."

Surge waited a few seconds before giving a response. "Would you like to battle me first?" The man and woman were surprised. Usually, Trainers asked Surge for the battle, not the other way around.

Wally saw the offer, and something seemed to change in the boy, his face looking on with serious willpower. "Yes, sir. I accept the challenge."

Green pouted as she was ignored. "Aww. I wanted to be first."

"Sorry about that, girly, but I want the boy to be first in this situation." Surge apologized with an exaggerated shrug as he looked down at Wally. "I'm going to be using a special something in this battle. Mind if you do the same, baby?" He lightly tapped his dog tag a few times, Wally realizing what he meant by this.

"I accept those conditions."

Surge smirked, actually looking forward to this fight. "Match starts in three. " He walked off as they were given plenty of time to get ready, Wally grabbing his necklace tightly.

The battle was set as the man and woman were right by Surge's side. Green and Pyra were sitting in the stands as they were excited about what Wally would bring to this battle. Wally came forth and cemented his place on the other side of the battlefield. There was no crowd for Wally as for Green, but the boy wouldn't be complaining.

"Last chance to forfeit, baby," Surge told Wally surprisingly thoughtfully. "It would be a shame if your Pokémon was forced into the Pokémon Center."

Wally didn't stop looking seriously. "Show me your worst." He said with no fear.

Surge smirked, taking out a Great Ball. "Shock them away, Manectric!"

Instead of bringing out his iconic Raichu, he revealed an Electric-type from Wally's home region. Manectric was a canine, quadrupedal Pokémon. His body was mainly blue with a spiky, yellow mane on his head and yellow tufts of fur on the haunches and around the front feet. His hair had stuck straight up and had three points. His upper jaw was jagged, and red eyes pierced through Wally, and holes on either side of his head that functioned as ears. Each of his paws had three claws. His blue, spike-like tail was bent at a sharp angle.

"Ectric!" He growled in anger, looking at his opponent.

"Aww. Doggy!" Manectric's serious nature didn't deter her as she brought Dexis out.

This is what Dexis said. "Manectric, the discharge Pokémon. Dex number: 333. National Region: Hoenn. Evolved from Electrike. Pokémon typing: Electric. Manectric discharges strong electricity from its mane. The mane is used for collecting electricity in the atmosphere. This Pokémon creates thunderclouds above its head. This specific Manectric is a male and at level 53. This Pokémon has the following moves: Snarl, Ice Fang, Discharge, Double Team."

Despite how threatening a level 55 would be for any beginning Trainer, Wally smiled as he looked down at his Poke Ball. He nodded slightly before throwing it out. Wally knew what Surge wanted and brought out the only Pokémon with this ability on his team. "Go on, Gallade!"

Gallade came out with his grand height and got into a fighting stance, bringing his powerful elbows for battle. "Gallade, huh?" Surge remarked as he liked this kid's choice of Pokémon.

"Come on, Gallade!" Green cheered for the warrior-like Psychic-type. "Take down the mut!"

"Charmeleon!" Pyra showed her support as well. Gallade looked to the side to see the support, grateful for this but had to bury it to focus on the battle.

The man and woman watched as Surge showed off his dog tag, already figuring out what the strong man was planning. "Let's agree. We'll Mega Evolve on the first turn, okay?"

"Let's," Wally nodded as he showed off his necklace, the two activating their Key Stone. The two Pokémon's held items began to react suddenly. Manectric's Manectite and Gallade's Galladite began to glow as the two Pokémon calmly closed their eyes. A purple bubble surrounded them, hiding them from everyone's view.

"Char?" Pyra watched as the bubbles glowed brightly on the inside; something was happening within them. Surge's laughter made the Fire-type look at him.

"Just watch, girl. This is about to get good." Surge warned them as the bubbles grew extremely bright, starting to crack and split apart.

Suddenly, the purple bubbles became more cracked, then shattered. What stood out were the same Pokémon but with a form that surpassed most.

Manectric was much bigger compared to before. The center spike on his head had shifted and now formed an enormous, tilted growth that extended over his snout. The remaining two head spikes were thinner, longer, and had small, pointed bulbs in place of the earholes. The mane now stretched down the length of the Manectric body, forming four additional spikes. One of the spikes reached past the Pokémon's chest and had points on both ends. The tufts of fur on his haunches were now blue and formed more numerous, thinner points. While he still had the yellow tufts around his front feet, they now have two short spikes extending backward. His no longer sharply angled, his claws becoming a red color.

Gallade briefly hid behind his cape, revealing his new form in an imposing way., His entire body became white, save for his head. Red plates were now part of his arms, his blue head crest grew slightly longer, and the spikes on the head were elongated. The two cape-like protrusions from his back gave him a knightly appearance. Gallade was still the same height as he looked calmly at Manectric, his blades sharpened into terrifying weapons.

"Gallade." He spoke in a regal and brave tone.

"MAANNNNEEE!" Manectric growled out loud to the calm warrior. A rainbow symbol was briefly above them, only to quickly disappear.

Green had literal stars in her eyes as she saw the Mega Evolved Pokémon, Pyra being the same way. "SO AWESOME!" She yelled with the biggest smile imaginable. Pyra smiled as big as her Trainer. The Fire-type was about to make it her mission to find some way to Mega Evolve. She could feel the power from these two, wanting to feel what it was herself.

"CHARMELEON!"

Gallade and Manectric glared at one another as there was only pure silence between the powerful fighters. Surge smirked as he decided to make the first move. "Charge at the enemy!"

"ECTRIC!" Manectric used his unbelievable speed to charge at Gallade with pure electricity following him, actually leaving a small crater in the ground from the place he started. Manectric was swift with his moments as he bounced from place to place, leaving after images in his place using Double Team. He went for the attack as Gallade used his psychic powers to see which was the real one. The mighty Ice Fang that Manectric had was met with Gallade's elbow blade, the two looking at each other before jumping away from the other.

Psychic energy and electricity clashed as the two used their fantastic speed to bounce across the battlefield constantly. The movement was almost impossible for an eye to truly make out as they attempted to use every opportunity they had to attack. Gallade would bend and move unnaturally to catch Manectric off-guard, while the Electric-type would act like he was using his teeth, only to try and surprise Gallade with a food attack or his entire body. Neither of them could get any hit off on the other.

Wally was focused on the battle as he tried to give any command he could. "Use X-Scissor!"

"Ade." Gallade covered his blade in dark green energy as his calm expression met Manectric's massive, almost cartoony smile that showed his sharp teeth. Gallade continued defending as Manectric was being careful with the exposed attack. Manectric had to utilize rapid but weak hits to try and break through the Fighting-type's concentration. Gallade could respond to every impact with not only his heightened senses but also using his psychic energy to move the hit to the side briefly.

Eventually, there was an opening as Manectric tried to go for an Ice Fang, his teeth covered in near impenetrable ice, but he accidentally missed. Gallade used this to try and go for X-Scissor, his Sharpness ability nullifying the Intimidate that Manectric had gotten from the start. Manectric was quick to react as he could nearly dodge the whole attack, only being slashed slightly by one of the blades.

"ECTRIC!" Manectric finally revealed his Snarl attack, releasing a mighty shout that came as a dark ring. Gallade underestimated the distance of how far this attack would go, getting hit in the process of dodging. Wally knew that Gallade could take a few hits as this was not only his strongest Pokémon but that he had fully EV trained the Psychic-type in his health stat. Six HP Ups helped out with this.

Manectric saw his chance as he went for the surprise with Double Team. Gallade took damage, but his guard did not falter as he was able to successfully block this as his arms glowed an orange color after being hit with the Dark-type move, becoming even more prominent. Justified worked as his attack was back to normal, which would be scary for most opponents. Manectric's laughed as Gallade's cape fluttered with the wind.

Surge began to laugh as well. "I got to hand it to you, kid." He told Wally with genuine respect. "This Gallade is not going down, something I guess he got from you."

"Thank you." Wally took the compliment with a small smile. "If my Pokémon are doing the best for me, then it wouldn't be fair if I didn't do the best for them." The pleasant moment quickly ended as this battle just kept going on.

Mega Manectric was truly testing Gallade's patience. The powerful Fighting-type was trying to get close for a Close Combat or Air Slash if he was too far, but the Electric-type would not stop attacking him when he got a chance. Manectric knew that Gallade couldn't dodge or block forever, but he knew that always going on the offense plan would reveal its cracks eventually.

He just had to take out Gallade before that could happen.

Manectric was constantly jumping and sapping away the electricity from the lights around to get even faster. The two had left multiple craters and marks on the earth, as neither would take a loss. Manectric dodged getting hit by the blade as Gallade avoided his sharp spikes as the Electric-type, unfortunately, lost his footing.

Gallade didn't hesitate as he readied to use Close Combat with this weakness. Gallade suddenly sensed that Manectric wanted this and stopped himself just in time. Manectirc dispersed a powerful Discharge that covered half of the battlefield. The wind was blown all over the place as the decisive move quickly got weaker as it spread through, just dissipating altogether.

"Char!" Pyra had never been this interested in a fight, except when Green fought. Seeing these two mighty Pokémon battle was indeed a spectacle. This was the final nail in the coffin for wanting to Mega Evolve.

"GO, WALLY! GOOOOO!"

Wally heard Green cheer as he tried to be logical with this fight. He saw that Manectric was relying far too heavily on pure strength, and he didn't seem to have anything else to him. If Gallade could physically overpower him, then the result of the battle would mostly be set. "Gallade," The Psychic-turned his eye as Manectirc was only now getting up from his failed Discharge. "Use Swords Dance. I think I figured out how to win this."

Gallade nodded as he activated the move. Multiple blue swords suddenly appeared as they clashed synchronously, eventually landing in one spot directly above Gallade's head. Gallade's arms glowed again as his attack grew stronger, going by two whole stages instead of one. Manectric tried to intercept after he saw what the Psychic-type was doing, but Gallade had finished the move before he could reach there.

Manectric had to jump back as he saw the very powerful Gallade as the Pokémon seemed to shine in the dying lights above. "Manectirc," Surge called out to his Pokémon. "Get close to Gallade, and bring out a Discharge." Manectric nodded.

Manectric was another blur as Gallade calmly assessed the situation as he could. Wally did the same as he used the past behavior to call where Manectric would most likely be coming from. "Use Air Slash at that exact spot!"

Gallade sensed that Manectric would be in that exact spot and made haste. He quickly summoned multiple shurikens of condensed air and launched at the precise place. Manectric came in front with little time to react. He panicked and pulled out Discharge to stop the move from hitting him.

This caused an explosion that blew air everywhere. Wally and Pyra were pushed back a bit as Surge was unmoved by this. Green just laughed out loud as she saw this awesome attack happen. Manectric and Gallade came out of the explosion with decent damage on either side. Manectric used his massive hair as a sort of shield while Gallade raised his cape to lessen the overall impact of the hit. This left a gigantic crater as Gallade tried to get himself back up.

Manectric didn't stop as he went for the off-guard Gallade. He covered his teeth in ice and chewed hard on Gallade's leg. "Lade!" Gallade scowled at what he foolishly let happen. Gallade got his revenge by having enough intelligence to land an X-scissor at the pre-occupied Electric-type. Manectric was bushed back at the powerful attack.

"Are you alright?" Gallade stood back up with a wounded leg as he managed to nod to Wally, the boy nodding back as he saw Gallade consider Manectric a good opponent.

"Come on, poochy!" Surge encouraged his Pokémon like he was a soldier. "I've seen plants with sturdier bodies than yours!" This tough motivation got Manectric bumped up, growling as electricity coursed through his body.

"Manectric can't take another hit after all the attack boosts that Gallade has gotten. The Electric-type knows he has to play smart, but I've seen how he'll always go for a free opportunity." Wally thought as he knew not to let overconfidence get the better of him now. The possibility of losing was still there. "Gallade," He finally decided after thinking it through. "Go for Close Combat."

Gallade nodded as he readied his fists for the move. Gallade moved quickly through the field as Manectric smirked with his big teeth. "MANECTRIC!" The Electric-type went for a physical attack as well as he thought that he could dodge and get a free attack in. With that, winning would become pretty easy with how little health Gallade would have at that point.

However, this is precisely what Wally wanted.

As Manectric was mere feet away, Wally activated the trap. "Jump over!" Gallade acted like he was falling face down, only to use one of his hands to make his entire body go up into the air. Manectric missed his Ice Fang and could not react in time to what was to come—time seemed to slow down as Gallade was coming down from above, reading one of his mighty fists.

Green and Pyra were starstruck at what Galade managed to pull off. Pyra bit into the sandwich she somehow had and chewed as Gallade made contact with his opponent.

Gallade hitting Manectric from the top left a four-foot crater as the Electric-type was pushed hard into the ground. Gallade took this and began Close Combat. The hits were swift, powerful and left no chance for Manectric to react appropriately. Manectric was left very weak with a few bruises as Gallade used an attack that sealed the fate of this confrontation. He used his elbow blade to slash across the Electric-types chest, pushing him back and making him roll away.

If the Close Combat didn't make Manectric faint, then that final move was the one to do it.

Gallade relaxed as he saw his fainted opponent showing respect to the one that challenged him. "Gal. Lade ga de de gal." He told the defeated enemy as he walked away, his cape flipping around as he turned away.

Gallade came to his Trainer as his form slowly returned to his regular body, becoming what a Gallade usually looks like. "I think that was your best fight yet!" Wally told his Pokémon as the two great partners shook hands.

"AHHHHHH!" Green and Pyra threw themselves at the two. "That was awesome! Your stone thingy is so cool!" She cheered for him as Wally was astonished at how she came from nowhere, but the boy tried to pat Green on the back.

"Yeah. Thank you for calling my Key Stone 'cool.'" He knew Mega Evolution was something getting excited over, but it wasn't exactly something that was found just yesterday. He guessed that Green had never seen it in action before.

"Char! Meleon char Charmeleon? Mel?" Pyra congratulated the two as she asked how Gallade managed to Mega Evolve, wondering if she could do that. Pyra nearly lost it when she heard she had two forms from Gallade. Gallade thought it was cute as the small Fire-type screamed true joy, blowing fire in her happiness.

The sound of boots came as Wally stood up to see the massive man coming to him. Surge looked serious as he looked down at the boy. "Kid. That fight..." He paused himself to see if Wally would react with fear. Surprisingly, Wally kept a steady face. "Was the most fun I've ever had!"

Wally could only gasp as he was crushed in Surge's massive arms. The poor boy was smothered so much that you could hear his back pop, making Gallade cringe as he contemplated stepping in. Wally was eventually let go as he got his footing, clearing his throat a bit. " Thank you, sir. It's an honor hearing that from a Gym Leader."

Surge smiled at the boy's manners as he took a badge from his pocket. "You might want to catch this." He flicked it through the air as Wally was able to jump high enough and grab it with two hands. He felt a sense of joy and honor when he saw the Thunder Badge.

Wally made an effort to smile as he looked at Surge. "Do you think I can go for the other badges?"

"You kidding? With your skill, I can see you reaching the Elite Four!" Wally was unsure how to react to Surge himself saying that, but the adult placed a big hand on his shoulder. "You have great potential. Don't go and not use it, baby."

Wally thought before nodding. "I promise I won't!" Gallade and Surge smiled at how determined the boy was. Gallade believed it was merely yesterday when Wally was nervous about catching him as a Ralts.

"Yay!" Green cheered for Wally as the boy looked at her, liking how positive this girl always seemed to be. "Can I fight now, sir? Me and Pyra will easily show you!"

"Ohh..." Surge looked around and saw what kind of destruction they made with their big battle. Giant craters, shattered glass from above, and even a big dent in the wall. Surge sighed. "This will take more than a few minutes to fix up, girly."

"You ready, sprat?" Surge called out to Green and Pyra. The battlefield had been cleaned up and fixed in just an hour as Wally stayed with them, thinking he should do it for the girl that encouraged him. His Delcatty was out as the cat had liked the girl and Pyra. Gallade was also out, wanting to see what Pyra was capable of.

"Just a sec." Green was doing something to Pyra, and everyone was curious about what Green was plotting. Surge's Raichu was out as the Electric-type was getting rather impatient with the lack of a challenger. Green smiled as she finished her work on Pyra. "It's done!"

"Rai?" Everyone looked as Green held Pyra out in her arms, and they couldn't believe what they saw. Not because it was threatening or scary but because of how ridiculous it looked.

Pyra had on a belt thing around her chest that had two very fake paper wings attached to either side. The wings looked exactly like the ones that Charizard had, but these weren't real or imposing. Pyra used her two arms to manually flap the wings as she tried to look as threatening as possible. "Char!" She said with a loud growl.

"Quiver and fear at the ultimate Fire-type: Charmeleizard!" Green proudly displayed.

Raichu laughed as he fell to the ground and began to roll around. Surge was laughing loudly as well, finding this extremely funny. Delcatty just lightly chuckled as she saw how Pyra was trying to take this so seriously, as Wally gave a massive sweat drop. Gallade barely managed to stiffen a giggle from his mouth. Pyra didn't care as she still tried to look intimidating.

"It looks like a new Pokémon has been discovered." Wally jokingly thought but didn't say it out loud.

Raichu quickly calmed down as Surge wiped away a tear. "I'll say this. You probably won't be my strongest opponent, but at least you made me laugh."

"Watch as we do both!" Green proudly declared as she placed Pyra down.

"Charmeleon!" One of Pyra's wings accidentally went down as the girl gasped, quickly trying to fix it. Green was there to help her out.

Surge chuckled again as he whispered to Raichu. "Careful, bud, we might have to try on this one." Raichu nodded, knowing that this fight would at least make him smile.

Green made her place as Pyra stood with her, taking her wings as Green held them. "Catty." Delcatty encouraged the Fire-type as Gallade crossed his arms. Wally sat there as he decided to cheer on the girl.

"I believe in you, Green!"

"Thanks', but I already knew that!" This surprising response got Wally off guard, seeing Green turn to him and give off a childish smile. Pure joy and happiness in that smile.

Raichu stepped into the battle as the Electric-type looked forward to this, sensing that Pyra was decently strong. "It will take more than Charmeleizard to defeat me, baby!"

Green just smiled back. "Give me your best shot! Raichu is going to be blown away by my best!"

"Best?" Surge playfully scoffed. He took out some sunglasses and covered his eyes with them. "All I see is a fainted Pokémon! Raichu, go for Thunderbolt!"

"CHHUUUU!" Raichu launched a mighty blast of electricity at his foe. Pyra successfully dodged as the Fire-type dodged all the electricity Raichu was carelessly throwing out. Pyra jumped as she was able to approach, avoiding the last attack the Raichu tried to go for with his tail as she jumped up high.

"Char!" Pyra's Mega Punch failed to connect as Raichu dodged. The Electric-type saw the massive dent Pyra made, the female Pokémon looking up with vitality.

"Go for Dragon Breath!" Green told her Pokémon. Pyra released some dangerous blue fire from her mouth to Raichu. The Electric-type smirked as he summoned a pink dome of light that stretched about two feet in every direction around him. The Dragon Breath went through the dome as its size was cut in half. Raichu took minor damage from the move.

Surge laughed as he saw this. "You better hope that your other moves aren't special attacks." He warned as Wally was writing down Pyra's moves so far. Green was using her smart self briefly to see what to do.

"Go for Fire Punch!" She knew it could be risky but that the stab move should mitigate the potential danger. Pyra's arms were coated in fire as she charged for Raichu.

"Meleon!" Pyra was swift with her punches, as Raichu had to try when it came to dodging. Raichu could feel how strong the punches she was throwing out were, and he planned to play the waiting game. Pyra's quick punches were losing all their strength as Raichu finally allowed Pyra to hit him. The punch was not enough to cause severe damage as Raichu grabbed Pyra's leg with his long tail.

Pyra's balance was knocked out as she fell on her back. "Quick! Use Iron Tail!" Pyra could barely roll out of the way from the tail of metal, which would've caused significant damage.

"Rai! Rai! Chu rai raich!" Raichu mocked Pyra for hitting like a girl as the Fire-type tried not to let her anger control her. Letting emotions be in charge would most likely cost them the fight.

Pyra ran around the field at great speed. Though it was not like Raichu's, the decent speed EVs she had gotten were starting to show off their work. "Do it, Pyra!" Wally cheered for the girl as Delcatty was lying down and watching the fight closely. Gallade had his arms crossed as he observed.

Raichu kept using his Iron Tail as a medium-range attack to try to catch Pyra off guard, the dome slowly starting to lose its color. "Dodge!" Green called for the third time as Raichu was getting annoyed, not having the same idea as Pyra with emotions. Pyra got close as the timing was nice to her that day. Raichu's Light Screen entirely went away.

"Char!" Pyra got up close and launched a Dragon Breath right on the Electric-type's face. Raichu was blown back, and he got a good landing. Surge saw this and appreciated Green's gambit on the Light Screen disappearing. Pyra didn't stop there as she went for Mega Punch.

"Stop her with Thunder Bolt!"

"Rai!" Raichu launched a powerful blast of electricity out of his cheeks as Pyra was hit by it. To their surprise, Pyra powered through the strong Electric-type move like she was a Ground-type. Raichu was hit squarely in the jaw as Pyra's arm muscles relaxed after landing the move. Pyra breathed heavily as the attack still hurt her, but she could push through it.

"Yeah! We're going to win!" Green cheered as Raichu had taken a lot of damage. If Pyra continued to be smart, it should only take two more hits to bring down the Electric-type.

"I'm a proud man, but I'll admit that your spitfire has some guts," Surge told the girl as he got a smirk. "We aren't going down without one last attack. Raichu, go all out for this one!"

"Rai!" Raichu nodded as he seemed excited about whatever this was. Gallade could sense something powerful coming, and Wally and Delcatty worried about what Pyra was being put up against. Pyra didn't even attempt to back down now. As for Green...

"You better go all out!" Green encouraged this potentially game-ending decision. "Pyra deserves better than your overgrown rat!"

This only fueled the inferno. "Take your stance, Rai!" Surge commanded as a person in the military would, Raichu going on all fours with deep breaths. "Faster than Rapidash, Stronger than Tauros, make your lightning shock them dry!" Surge took a simple breath, opening his eyes with such power. "Volt Tackle!"

"VOLT TACKLE?!" Wally almost fell off his seat since he never would've guessed such an early Gym Leader to have this kind of move. Delcatty and Gallade watched with stunned looks as Raichu activated his move.

Raichu poured all of his energy as blinding electricity covered his entire body, creating an armor that would be considered idiotic to try and breakthrough. Delcatty covered her eyes as Wally did the same. Raichu looked up as he was shaking by how much power he had poured into this. "RAAAIII!"

Despite this apparent show of overwhelming power, Pyra didn't think to back down. "Alright, Pyra. Let's show off our fourth move!" Green sounded cheerful as ever despite the circumstances. Pyra nodded as she was about to activate the last move she had with her.

"Oh no, you don't!" Surge said with a cocky tone as he pointed at Pyra. "NOW!"

The only one that could he perceive Raichu was Gallade. The Electric-type moved with speed that even surpassed lightning itself. Gallade only saw an orange blur pass through as the attack connected with something. Electricity was launched everywhere, though Raichu did not target it at anyone. The attack was active for two whole seconds as Raichu bounced away.

Raichu saw the smoke his most potent attack left behind, cringing at the amount of recoil damage this did to him. This move should've been enough to remove any that wasn't a Ground-type. Surge dusted off his jacket as he spoke up. "Hate to do it, baby. Victory isn't always kind-"

"CHAR!" Pyra jumped out of the smoke as she readied her strong fist covered in fire. Raichu could only widen his eyes as the Fire Punch completely knocked him out. Everyone was shocked at this revelation since the move seemed to have hit Pyra. Surge had his jaw open as he watched his own Pokémon land near his boot, swirls in his eyes.

"Del?" The three watching couldn't believe this, especially Wally. Gallade sensed something in the smoke and felt a presence identical to Pyra's. He realized what had happened.

Surge watched closely as the smoke went away. This revealed not only Green but also an exact copy of Pyra, which was as still as a statue. The doppelganger turned to dust after all its HP had been used up. Surge smacked his hand against his hair.

"Charmeleon had Substitute!?" Surge was impressed. He never thought that this girl would have the foresight to have this kind of move on the Fire-type. The tall man suddenly had a proud smile. Even though he would never say it, this kind of thing isn't something he would've done.

Pyra sighed as she saw Raichu gently picked up by Surge, feeling slightly drained after making that Substitute. "I knew you could do it!" Green suddenly picking her up made the Fire-type smile, the two sharing a good embrace. "That's my girl!"

"Char!" Pyra became extremely happy when she her fake wings, putting them back on the truly complete herself. Wally had written down the last move that Pyra had as he, and his two Pokémon, came to congratulate the two.

"Dragon Breath, Substitute, Fire Punch, and Mega Punch." Wally mentally listed in his head. "Not a bad move set. Substitute and Fire Punch could stay, but Mega Punch and Dragon Breath are replaceable. I think I have the TM for Flamethrower, but I wonder if she would want Char-Pyra to have Calciu-" Wally was so in thought that he accidentally stepped into Delcatty. Wally was quick to react. "Oh! I'm so sorry."

"Catty." She kindly nodded, knowing Wally was one to get lost in thoughts. The three came to the pair as Gallade asked to pick up the Fire-type. Green happily nodded as Gallade held the Pokémon with fake wings.

Gallade examined her closely, giving a very pleased nod to Pyra, who felt like it was a true honor to be held by a Pokémon so powerful. Gallade gently tapped Pyra's head as he let her down, the Fire-type looking up at him with wonder.

"Electric-types can wish they could shine as bright as you." Wally complimented as he gently patted Pyra's head. "Nice work out there, girls."

Green petted Delcatty as she smiled up at him. "Yeah, we're both awesome! Me and the four of you guys that are here!" She happily said. Wally gently smiled as he shook his head, finding the conflicting sentence funny.

"Baby!" Surge came to the two as he had a little something in his hand, Raichu safely back in his Poke Ball. "I honestly want to be mad about that ending, but I just can't help but laugh at it when I think about it."

"Yeah! My Pokémon punching people is pretty funny!" Green said in an upbeat way, causing Surge to laugh at how abrupt it was. Wally managed to hold in a chuckle, and Gallade gave a soft face for that. Delcatty and Pyra were right next to Green as Surge offered something.

"Take it. The badge is your's-"

"Thanks!" Green went to grab it quickly, but Surge lifted the badge to be above his head.

"-All you have to do is just grab it!" Surge decided to play with his food one last time. Green tried to jump up and grab it, suffering from her short status compared to the behemoth that was Surge.

Green pouted as a bright idea came to her. "Wally, I need you to be a ladder!"

"Wha- Hey!" Wally was trying to stop Green from getting on top of him as Delcatty was trying to get Green off of her Trainer gently. Pyra was more focused on getting the badge they earned, Surge giving a thunderous, passionate laugh as he plopped Pyra on the ground. Gallade merely observed.

The two left the gym as they decided to use that free voucher Raoul gave them at the very start of the day. Wally was in charge of this travel, now only taking thirty minutes to reach their destination. It was initially supposed to be eight minutes, but that is still an improvement.

"What may I interest you in?" A middle-aged man told them from behind the counter. Various posters were on the walls, and bikes hung on multiple hooks and holders. Green happily showed off her pass.

"What can we get with this?"

The man looked at the paper and stood up. "There's a decent amount you can get, but you can forget about going over budget." He warned them as he led them to the area. "Want one seat or two for you to be together properly?"

"Just one, sir," Wally told them as they saw the various bikes they could pick. All were in multiple sizes and colors; some had light, some had sturdier tires, and even one had a cup holder. "Any recommendations?"

"I'm the kind of guy that likes to go for mountain bikes. There are probably the sturdiest in our collection and will last you a good few years. If you hate your life that much, there is always the BMX." The man showed Wally the extremely poor-quality bike, and Wally shook his head. "Good choice,"

The two were left to pick what they wanted. They needed something that would last them a while but something convenient enough for them. Pyra helped in this search by seeing the price tag for one of them. Her eyes bulged as she saw the unbearable price tag of one million Poké Dollars. The Fire-type quickly went away.

"Wally, what do you think of this one?" Green asked Wally as the two looked.

Wally sighed at seeing another good bike that went over the budget. "Let's keep looking," He searched in a different set and stopped as his eyes landed upon one.

It was a mountain bike with blue, yellow, and silver colors working off each other to give a visually appealing-looking vehicle. Simple but very sturdy, black tires complimented the simple design of the bikes. Everything was well lubricated as it had a flashlight attached and strong breaks. Wally ripped it off the rack and placed it on the ground.

He had to adjust the seat before he could properly sit on the bike, grabbing the handles as he felt that this was one. "Are you kids done yet?"

Wally slowly nodded as he turned the front wheel. "I think we are." Wally presented the bike in front of everyone.

"Oh! It's shiny!" Green and Pyra thought the same as the older man slowly nodded.

"Solid choice. Is this the one you'll decide on?"

Wally felt confident as he nodded. "I do." He handed the voucher over as the man nodded. He went away as Green and Pyra were able to admire the bike that they had picked out. Pyra felt the metal against her hand.

"Can I use the bike first? Please?" Green was making that face when she asked Wally for this. Unfortunately, the boy had no such resistance against something like that.

He saw no reason not to. "Sure. Since I picked the bike, you should try it first." The man came back as he removed all the tags and such off the bike.

He also had a bike lock that required a four-digit code to undo. "Don't treat this bike too harshly. I feel like this one had a lot of potential to it."

"Thank you, old man!" Green said as she waved them goodbye.

"Char!" Pyra followed.

"I appreciate you for allowing this," Wally said as the three walked out of the building with their new bike.

The man waved them goodbye as he sighed. "I wish I had friends." He sadly spoke as he returned to his nothing counter, in his nothing job that paid for his nothing house, where he spends his nothing life.

Green clapped as Wally tried to get the bike ready for the girl. Pyra was excited as she could probably use the down tube to hold on. It wasn't too low to the ground, and she had a firm enough grip.

Wally stepped away to let Green do this. "I am hoping that this bike will turn out well!"

"I know it will!" Green happily smiled as she sat on the seat. "Alright, let's try it."

"Char."

Green kicked off the black stick on the wheel that kept the thing from falling over, a smile that showed her open mouth. Wally predicted that this girl would take off and show off her skills. However, Green slowly began to lead to the side as she, and the bike, fell over and hit the grass. Wally looked down as the girl didn't move, Pyra looking down as well.

Despite being on the ground, her expression didn't change at all. "What am I supposed to do with this?" She asked with a smile.

Wally sagged his shoulder after hearing that. "You don't know how to ride a bike?"

"Yup." She happily admitted as she placed the bike back in the upright position. "I can always just learn how to ride one!"

Wally wanted to slap himself in the face, but he restrained himself. This girl genuinely thought that riding a bike would just come to her the moment she got it. "Char." Pyra got Wally's attention, wanting the boy to know that she was just as annoyed at this. "Charmeleon Char mel eon eon."

Wally sadly couldn't understand her, but he could tell it was to comfort him. "How are you able to deal with this?" He thought to himself as he looked at the Fire-type.

"Do you know how to ride a bike?"

This question got Wally a bit flustered. "Uh? Well, I've never owned one before. I know how to do the basic stuff with it."

"Perfect! You are going to be my teacher!" Green left no other answer as she looked ahead with the bike being supported by her feet. "Show me your ways!"

Wally obliged as he decided to at least help her with this. He wanted to leave her when this was all done, but he could at least teach this. "Well, you need a good sense of balance. A flat surface isn't the best way to learn this; we need something slanted."

They began to think about what they could use for this, Pyra seeing a not-too-steep ramp that could work for this. "Char!"

"Alright, let's go!"

Green was about to use the bike she didn't know how to ride to get there, but she couldn't keep her balance, and she was about to fall to the ground again. Wally reacted in time to go and save her. Pyra was surprised at how quick the boy was to act as he bravely used his body and arms to stop the fall from even going halfway down. Wally used his somewhat lacking physical strength to help Green up as the girl still kept a smile.

Wally helped her up as he looked at Green. "Are you alright?"

"I'm always good!" Was her positive response, taking herself off the seat and guiding the bike with her hands. "And with you being here, I'm even better!"

Wally was a bit surprised at hearing that. Green seemed like the kind of person to look at the positives in everything, something that Wally didn't precisely work well with. He wasn't sure how to take that happy remark. "Um. Thanks, you too?" She and Pyra just laughed as all three went to the ramp to work with.

They put themselves at the top as Wally said to take it slow. "Char!" Pyra flashed a thumbs up as Green nodded, going down the ramp without a second thought.

"Watch me become a pro at this!" She exclaimed. Her first try went as well as anyone would expect. Green couldn't keep herself balanced and almost rammed into the concrete wall. The girl managed to ram into some thick shrubbery as Wally came quickly.

"Are you alright?" Instead of crying, frustration, or anything negative coming from the girl, Green just gave off a loud laugh.

"Again!" Wally had to step out of the way Green was already going for the second try. The boy quickly went over to try and give her some advice on how not to hurt herself, but Green had already taken off and gone down the ramp.

This time, she could get through the ramp without almost ramming into something, but she had no idea how to control it and had to put her legs on the ground to keep herself and the bike up. She laughed as her head moved joyfully. "I didn't run into anything this time!" She looked at the positive as she made her way back.

"Char." Pyra watched how her Trainer was now too invested in this one thing, getting herself ready for being here for hours.

Wally was still trying to use facts and general advice to help her, but Green wanted to learn this through trial and error. If there were any lousy decision anyone could make in Green's eyes, it would be taking the easy way out. "Why can't this girl just listen to me?" Wally mentally groaned as he went to see another failed attempt.

Green would try this thing repeatedly for who knows how many tries, as Wally stopped counting after sixty. The girl seemed to have no fear as she kept ramming into this challenge with a smile, always met with a different kind of failure. The bike itself was threatened to be bent or broken multiple times. Green was still going for it as everything revolved around getting this down, Pyra still close to her heart. Any average person would've abandoned her after so many failed attempts, after all the advice she just walked past, and how annoying this girl could be.

But... Wally never left her.

The boy had considered calling it quits for the day and stopping, but he never said that to Green. No matter how many times she failed, she always got back up with a smile and a positive attitude. This surprised Wally, as he never thought someone this positive and determined would exist. He certainly wouldn't have kept going after the first hour. Green never thought anything negative about her or this task. Wally knew that riding this bike was all she wanted, and the least he could do was watch as she slowly got the hang of it.

Perhaps Green's stubbornness was already rubbing off of him.

Green had spent many hours trying to at least ride in a straight line. The girl had made fantastic progress as she moved from the ramp, now on some flat concrete with the ability to move independently. Green was so close to making it to a specific part of the path until she accidentally veered to the left, getting into the grass. She smiled as she ran back to the pair, bike in her grip. "I think I got it this time!"

"You got this, Green!" He encouraged her, as he knew the advice wouldn't work anymore. Pyra was still up and cheering for her Trainer, even though sleepiness was getting the better of her.

Green got on her bike again as she went for this attempt. It all started well as she kept herself in an imaginary line, never going too fast. She kept decent speed as the goal was just feet away. She wanted to ride to the side again, but she restrained herself this time. She moved on from temptation and crossed the fake goal that she had set up.

After six whole hours of trial and error, she had gotten the basics down in just a mere day.

Green jumped up excitedly, the bike falling to the side as she left it unoccupied. "YAY, ME!" Green cheered for herself as she was rightfully happy.

Wally and Pyra watched what had just happened. "S-She... she did it?" Wally was about to get as excited as Green as all of his patience and Green's work had finally paid off. "S-She did it!"

"Char!"

"She finally got it!" Wally and Pyra ran over as the three looked like real maniacs in how they cheered out loud for this. Wally didn't care about anyone seeing him; he was that happy for Green and her progress. A woman walked by as she became very concerned after seeing them hug each other while bouncing around, quickly running as fast as she could.

"I knew I could do it!" Green cheered as she held Pyra in her arms, looking at Wally with a big smile. "And you were here the whole time."

"Yep. I was." Wally reflected as he realized just how late it was. They had their nice moment of excitement, but now it was time to rest finally. "It's pretty late right now. So, why don't we sleep on this and get energy for tomorrow?"

"Go to sleep? We still have a lot to do." Green pointed out as she was joking around when she said this, also feeling tired. Even though Pyra saw through this, Wally wasn't like that.

"NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOO!"

Wally fell to his knees in pure defeat at the mere idea of something else that would affect his time and his sanity during this one day. Pure pain and loss were in his voice as he suddenly heard big laughter. He quickly saw how Green was laughing it off. "I'm kidding. Let's go to bed!"

"Thank you. That would be nice." He stood back up as he relaxed, finally having heard an idea that many people would agree to. Pyra decided to ride on Wally's back, the thin boy shaken up by this. He still complied as he felt Pyra hitching a ride on him. "Please dig your claws too deep. It hurts." He gently tried to tell Pyra, who responded gently and relaxed her fingers.

Everyone began to walk as Green took a break from riding her bike, smiling as she guided it while walking. "Know any good hotels? We can sleep outside if that's your kind of thing."

"No, thank you. The first option would be far better for our mental health after today." He told her, wishing for a comfy bed right now. "If I may ask, how are you always so happy all the time? You always smile after everything."

Green just shrugged. "I've been like that since the start. My mom constantly told me I've always tried to make people laugh and smile because I want everyone to feel included."

"That's nice. My parents always labeled me as shy, as I always stayed up in my room half the time." Wally remarked, remembering how he would always stumble on his sentences back when he started his journey. He took a deep breath in, feeling how clean the air was. "Sorry if this sounds weird, but your air here smells good."

"How is that weird?" Green asked, not finding the unique question even remotely bizarre. "My mom always asks weird questions, like: 'Why is the light on in your room?' I tried telling her I flipped the switch, but she was in a bad mood."

This childish logic got a soft chuckle from the boy as Pyra listened to all of this. "Tell me, what's your mother's name?"

"Oh! I know this one!" Green happily gave her response. "Her name is Leaf!"

"Leaf?" He repeated, liking the sound of it. The two walked in some pleasant silence as Wally decided to bring out his notebook to write a final log for the day, getting out his trusty pen as he wrote down while walking.

"After many hours of patience, Green has completed her task of riding the bike. She can still be a bit sloppy, but she has a grasp on the overall basics of it. She is quite an interesting person, as there seems to be nothing that I could find that can weigh her down. I'm not quit-"

"What are you writing?" Green's sudden question made Wally horribly gasp, accidentally messing up the 't' he was writing down. He quickly pulled himself together as he cleared his throat.

"Just a notebook I like to use whenever the day ends." He replied as he quickly closed it. "If I can't remember something on a particular day, I have this book to help me."

Green heard this, having a fun idea. "Can I write something down on it?"

"Huh?" Wally looked at the book, then at Green. "Why do you want to?"

"Writing can be fun, as my mom does it all the time." She replied with a smile, extending her hand. "I just want to write one thing down."

Wally saw the hand, considering what could come out of this. "Just... one entry." He decided, hoping not to regret his decision immediately. "Please write down on this page." He pointed out as he gave the book and pen to Green.

The girl wasted no time in writing down what she wanted. Wally looked intriguingly at what Green was jotting down, not being allowed to see due to how Green would always move the book out of the way. Green finally stopped as she handed the book over. "Here,"

Wally was worried about what Green could've written down in such a short amount of time. Pyra looked over his shoulder and saw what Green had put on there. In atrocious handwriting, it said the following:

"Today, I met a really kind boy named Wally! He is cool, smart, and has weird stone powers that Pyra wants to have. He also helped me ride a bike today, and he didn't want to leave me like a lost child! Wally is very good in my book; he even let me write on his! I know my best friend will like this. :)"

Wally didn't say anything as his eyes were completely glued to the awful handwriting, his breathing becoming slower as he read it. Even though the letters varied in size, one can feel the passion in care that Green put into this. He looked at his hand before closing them in a semi-tight fist.

"I... I've never had someone call me that before." He reflected as he held the notebook with both hands.

Green was blissfully unaware of what Wally truly felt. "Hmm? Should I have put more detail?"

"No," Wally shook his head and softly chuckled at rereading it. "I like it just the way it is..." Pyra saw it as well, softly smiling at how her Trainer was.

"I think you should meet my mom tomorrow!" Green gleefully proposed. "I think you would like her!"

Wally tilted his head at the idea of seeing this girl's mother, looking back at what he had just reread. He never would've imagined himself in this kind of position for a girl he had just met, but he decided to do this. Since it was most likely that Green would follow him around the region.

He shrugged, not as shy as he had been hours ago. "Sure," His one-word response was met with Green giving him a bigger hug than he could ever muster. Wally just smiled, letting Pyra join in on this.

Everyone was allowed a nice night of sleep after all the time they had used up. They found a cheap hotel that was comfortable enough to have all three of them, Wally insisting on sleeping on the chair, not wanting to disturb the bond between Pyra and Green. Besides, it would be rather weird to sleep with someone you only just met with on that day.

After a loud breakfast, mainly from the two girls, they went to the Pokémon Center. Nurse Joy there was still listening to her loud music as she still kindly took their Pokémon, receiving good thanks from the two of them. Green tried convincing Wally that they would interact well and that there should be no reason to worry. If only Wally could follow that advice.

Wally was quickly adjusting his collar, making sure no hair got in his face. "Do I look good enough?"

"Don't you look the same as yesterday?"

"I-I do." He had to admit, wanting to make an extra great first impression. Even if the mother was like Green, he still had to present his best self. He would've brought flowers if this was in person. "Do you look a lot like her?"

"Hmm? Kind of. I know I got her hair, eyes, nose, ears, body..." She thought for a moment before laughing. "I think I got her everything!" Wally wanted to know so that he could get a good picture of what this woman would look like.

"That's nice to know." Green had put in the final number as Wally saw how the phone began to ring, holding the receiver with two fingers close to her ear. That iconic sound began to play again.

BEEP

BEEP

BEE-

"Hmm? You called?" A distinctively older, feminine voice asked the other side. Wally noted how tired she sounded, wondering if she had just woken up.

"Hey, momster!" Green happily answered as she heard her voice. "How are you?"

"...Who is this?" The voice sounded confused, and Wally thought this could be the wrong number.

"It's Green! A girl named after a color and who lives in Pallet Town." She happily answered with closed eyes. "I know you live in Pallet Town too!"

"H-How do you know my location?!" The voice gave genuine fear as Wally decided to step in.

"Um, Green? I think we may have gotten the wrong num-"

"I live in your house!" Green answered. "By the way, did you ever find that missing record?"

Instead of being met with another question, Wally was shocked to hear laughter from the other side. "Dang it! Why can't my game ever work on you?" The voice playfully said as Wally realized all those emotions were a creative act. How that voice conveyed strong emotions on command was truly impressive.

The screen shifted to show a girl exactly like Green, just with more age to her. She had a plain black dress that didn't even reach her knees and white gloves that were practically glued to her hand based on how much she wore them. Her attire was simple, with hair that looked like a whole hour was put into it. She crossed her legs in a very relaxed way. Her face released a sly smile as she looked at her daughter, Green giving her a beaming smile instead.

"Hi!" She happily greeted. "I'm your daughter!"

"Really? I guess how we look the same gave it away, Green." Leaf playfully replied, her crafty smile still active. "I notice the lack of Pyra. Did you lose her again?"

"I just gave her to Nurse Joy." Leaf nodded after hearing that, seeing that Green was being honest. She would know when her daughter was lying, for Leaf always knew what a good lie was. "Is the house still standing?"

"Sadly, no. The old one burned down, and I had to get another house that looked exactly like the one we had previously." Leaf pointed to a dent in the wall. "It even has that." Green laughed as she heard her mother's sense of humor, but Wally didn't realize it was a joke until laughter came by. The way Leaf said it made it seem like an absolute truth.

"I made a new friend, one that's my age! Can I show you him, please?" Green made that face as Leaf was utterly immune to it but decided to go with it.

"Alright," This was Wally's cue to come in as Green hurried out of the way. Leaf saw the older boy as he walked up, making sure his bag was perfectly straight.

"Um, hi, Green's mom." He politely greeted her and tried not to speak in a low tone. "It's nice to meet you."

Leaf said nothing for a few minutes as she looked at the boy from up and down, making the same face her daughter made. Wally was starting to become nervous before she spoke. "You forgot to button the fifth one on your jacket."

"What?" Wally quickly checked as he worried he had made a mistake, realizing nothing was wrong with his jacket. He heard Leaf laugh from the other side after he had looked down.

"I just like to do that to everyone I meet." She told him as Wally was a bit surprised at how Leaf seemed to have a more toned-down version of Green's humor. "Anyway, name's Leaf. You look like a Beni, but that's probably not your name. Out with it, kid."

"Oh. My name is Wally, and I come from the Hoenn Region." He quickly remembered one of his premade lines as he saw how Leaf was looking at him.

"Thanks', but I didn't ask for your region," Leaf told him as she decided to ask her daughter something. "Have you already collected the Thunder Badge, the yellow one?"

"Yup!" Green happily showed off the new badge that she had gotten. "Wally got one too!" Wally also showed off the Thunder Badge as Leaf nodded, seeing that they were indeed the badges from Surge.

"That's my girl!" Leaf cheered for her daughter. "Remember to always stick to your own pace, okay? Life is a bumpy road, not a race."

"I got it!" Green began to clench her stomach as it made weird noises, groaning a bit after hearing it. "Wally, mind taking over?" She asked as she quickly stood up. "I need a bathroom!"

Green quickly ran away due to their weird breakfast. Wally was left alone as he decided to take over the call, putting the receiver on his ear. "So, I guess I will be talking to you."

"What an honor, am I right?" Wally didn't respond to her joke, making Leaf sigh at how the boy was unwilling to laugh. "So, are you friends with my girl?"

"Um. Friend's is a powerful word, Ms. Leaf." Wally responded truthfully. "I-"

"You don't have to call me 'Ms.,' alright?" Leaf interrupted with a small smile at how the boy was trying to be respectful. "I'm not one to care about individual titles. Just call me Leaf."

"Uhm? Alright, Leaf." He said again with less certainty. "As I was trying to say, me and Green met only yesterday. We spent most of the day together, and we even shared a room for the night. I wasn't in bed with her, in case you had to know." He quickly added that last part.

"So your just a person that she just happened to meet and are comfortable going to split apart?"

"Well, I do want to stay with her." This made Leaf pleasantly surprised, inching closer to get a better listen. "I'll be honest; Green doesn't seem easy to work with. Even though she doesn't know when to stop, there's just something in me that wants to see her succeed. She seems to remind me-"

"Of yourself." Wally was surprised at how Leaf finished his sentence, nodding in response. Leaf looked off into the distance as she reminisced. "Green was never an average girl. She always kept moving, had this wild imagination, seemed to know a lot without studying, and would choose her heart over her head. The doctors always told me that there was some behavior problem that she could never really grow out of..."

Wally heard this as he could relate to the girl. "I was never a person that sought to talk to people in my region. I also had this problem, but I rather not say it. I don't want to jinx myself by accident."

Leaf still kept her humorous look as she checked with the boy. "I do hope you'll like it here. If you will stick with my daughter, may I give you some advice?"

"Sure. I think I'll need it." Leaf gave a kind look, being immediately replaced with an icy and severe look. Wally felt a shiver run down his back as he saw how grim her face appeared.

"If you dare hurt her or do anything to make her uncomfortable, or upset, and I know about. You will have to have an awful experience that wouldn't be pretty for you, or for me to clean up. Green does not deserve to have someone that would dare betray her. She is your responsibility and the person she'll look up to. Do I make myself clear?"

Wally gulped a bit as he was genuinely concerned if he had dared to say anything but yes. "Y-Yes, Leaf. I p-perfectly understand."

Leaf was quiet for a moment, giving a wide smile. "See! Look at how agreeable we all are when we try!" Leaf exclaimed joyfully as Wally had major whiplash after experiencing that. "A little bit of fear a day is just something everyone needs."

Wally didn't say anything back, still shaken up after hearing what he had just promised. Green had come back with a smile as she saw her mother on the screen, taking the receiver from Wally. "Hi! Did I miss anything?"

"Oh, only how Wally over here will stay with you," Leaf told her daughter with a smile as Wally nodded, trying to be excited about this sudden change. "Sadly, we have to end the call."

"Aww. Do we have to?"

"Oh, Green... of course we do," Leaf told them with her crafty smile. "I would say good luck, but I know that you don't need it."

"Thanks, mom. I promise to call you back and always bring a smile to everyone!" The two used their unique fist bump on the air, as they always did whenever they had a good conversation. "Bye, mom!" Green quickly ran off to get her and Wally's Pokémon.

"Bye, honey!" Leaf called out, even though the girl couldn't hear her anymore. As Wally was about to say goodbye, Leaf quickly stopped. "Wait! Before that, there's the advice I promised you."

Wally was pleasantly surprised that she would uphold her end. "You're going to give me some?"

Leaf nodded. "If she ever starts becoming too rowdy, let her have some water. It always calms her down for me." She instructed as Wally listened in. "Write that down if you ever forget."

Wally quickly wrote the advice word for word in his notebook, looking at her with a grateful look. "Thank you for this. It was nice to meet you, Leaf."

"Don't worry; I get that a lot. Be careful out there, alright?" Wally nodded, ending the call positively as he leaned back in the chair. He tried his best to make the most of this sudden development.

The two got their Pokémon back from Nurse Joy, who waved them goodbye as she still listened to her music. Nothing much really happened as they left Vermillion City behind, going on the path to Rock Tunnel. Wally was smart enough to purchase a general map of the region, as he was in charge of directions. It was now left to him to make sure that Green, and her Pokémon, didn't walk themselves into nowhere.

"I'm excited for this journey together!" Green happily exclaimed as Pyra and Wally walked alongside her. "What about you?"

Wally didn't answer right away as he merely thought to himself. "Yeah. Together..."

The two can hear how distant and how absent Wally seemed to be at the moment. The two looked at each other before sending an agreeing nod, practically talking without any words. Wally wasn't paying attention that much, at least until Pyra did something.

"Char! Meleon char Charmeleon!" She growled at them with fake anger as Wally quickly took a step back. She pretended to try and scare them with her claws before running off at great speeds. The Fire-type's experience of running away from major dangers has really shaped her short legs.

"Quick! We need to stop her by holding hands!" Green played her part as she grabbed Wally by the hand, forcing the boy to move his legs quickly.

"Wait a minute! I can't run that fast!" He tried to tell her as Pyra was making good distance from them. Green smiled at him.

"Don't worry! Running is overrated in my book!" Green brought the boy closer and used her surprising strength to have Wally go into her two arms. Wally was quite shocked by this as Green began to resume her running.

"WHOO!" Wally was sitting in Green's arms as the girl was still making good speed with the extra weight she had on her. Pyra playfully taunted them, trying to make them become more engaged.

Green growled in a determined way as she still carried the boy with her. "For the pride of Kanto, we must defeat that flaming reptile! Their extinction will lead to our satisfaction!" Wally actually laughed out loud, his old mood dissapereaing after seeing how serious these two took this kind of stuff. Even though he knew that their time together was probably just going to be like this, he was starting to think that this might be worth it in the end.

"What have I gotten myself into?" He playfully thought to himself. He looked at how Green was smiling down at him in his arms, the boy sending a soft smile back. Pyra looked back and saw how Wally seemed to become happier, still going along with the game. Pyra wondered if she could make this last for a mile, or until the two collapsed due to their combined weight.

Sadly, it was the latter that happened after ten minutes.

END OF CHAPTER 19

Man... it feels good to be back! It feels strange making a new chapter after fixing up all the previous mistakes that I made before, but now I feel energized. Sorry that the chapter so many people were expecting didn't have anything to do with Ash or the leading group, but that should be fixed with the next chapter. We're going to be doing a two-parter for Rock Tunnel, as a lot of stuff is going to go down in those chapters. I brought Wally into the story as he is still missing from the anime. I felt like Green and Wally would be an interesting dynamic that could be funny. Let me know what you think of Wally in this and Green as a character.

Leaf, Green's mom, is the same character from the original Pokémon manga. I know her name was different in that version, but I never realized it until I read the manga and checked the wiki. So basically, Leaf is the Green that you know from the Adventures manga. If you think that might be a bit hard to remember, feel free to tell me right now. I do regret making that character without adequate knowledge at the time, but I feel like I've already made it too far into the story to switch Green and Leaf's name at this point. What do you think?

I also have a poll going on. I'll let you guys decide which gender Ash's Dratini should be since I am still debating over it, and the anime isn't willing to give me answers. Expect the two back-to-back chapters coming much later, though. I need to fix up chapters 9-15 in the meantime. Later!
