Chapter-1
Annabeth
"Watch your back!" Annabeth yelled as Percy whirled around to lop off another Dracaena's head. Annabeth wrenched her drakon bone sword out of another Dracaena's chest before Percy sent a tendrils of water to impale more Dracaena coming up behind her.
This is just ridiculous. Annabeth thought in frustration. Apollo had just completed whatever quest he was in and had ascended to Olympus. Yet, there was no peace and quiet as some weird fog had fallen over the world, due to which monsters were getting much bolder, attacking demigods almost anywhere regardless of the consequences. Universities were closed, and Percy and Annabeth weren't coming to New Rome university at the moment. Both the Camps were completely focussed on maintaining a strong defense against these increased monster attacks, so Percy and Annabeth were stuck at her dad's house
Right now, they had just wanted to go out for a bit and got attacked by monsters. Annabeth didn't realize just how bad the situation was because they'd only been attacked in the wilderness. But here in the bay area, things were bad.
"It's like the mist has gone on steroids."
Annabeth remembered Hazel's words regarding the situation, which did not serve to reassure her. Maybe it would make at least a microscopic amount of sense if the mist was failing for some reason, but no. Hazel stated it had 'gone on steroids'. Did Hecate manipulate the mist to get even thicker?
Annabeth was broken out of her thoughts as a hellhound bounded up to her. Annabeth fell back, stabbing her sword into the Hellhound's chin before flipping onto her feet to dodge another Dracaena.
Water tendrils suddenly wrapped themselves around the creatures as Percy tossed the monsters into San Francisco bay.
"Annabeth, run!" Percy yelled as he and Annabeth immediately took off, going straight back to Percy's prius as Percy hit the gas and drove off.
Annabeth then noticed a flock of harpies pursuing them
"Can the Fates leave us alone for one second?!" Percy snapped in anger as one Harpy came up by Annabeth's window, receiving a sword through its eye in response.
"You heard Hazel, Percy." Annabeth spoke as Percy glared at the Harpies from his side view mirror.
"We can't even get a breath of fresh air for two seconds before we get attacked." He grumbled. "I know we get attacked all the time…but this is extreme even for us. I feel like I'm using a phone constantly." Percy spoke before cursing as he swerved away from a bunch of seagulls.
"The fog makes it even worse." Percy spoke with a groan as Annabeth smiled, shaking her head.
"Just be careful on the…WATCH OUT!" Annabeth screamed as a Harpy broke through the window and snapped at Percy. Percy ducked his head and cracked his fist against the Harpy, sending it off.
The two soon reached her dad's home. They immediately ran out of the car and went straight towards the door, frantically ringing the bell as her stepmother opened up.
"Annabeth…?" She asked before Percy and Annabeth rushed into the house beside her and closed the door. Her stepmother gave the two a strange look before walking off to the kitchen.
Percy took a deep breath. "Well, that was a catastrophe."
"Is Annabeth home?" Her dad's voice came from upstairs.
"Yeah, we're back!" Annabeth announced as her father soon came down. "What happened? Are you two alright?"
"Yeah. We just got attacked by monsters, Mr. Chase. The usual." Percy spoke with a shrug as her dad crossed his arms.
"I told you two it does not look safe to go out." He spoke as Percy nodded. "After today…I can 100% confirm that."
"Come on, go get yourselves freshened up." Her dad spoke as Annabeth and Percy sat down on the sofa.
"It's only been a few days…" Percy spoke. "...And I'm already starting to lose my mind. Everybody's stuck at home, and trying to go out only gets us into more trouble. Our lives has just come to a halt because of this stupid fog."
Annabeth sighed. "I know, Percy." She spoke. Massaging her forehead. They'd been prepared to move on to the next stage of their lives, pursuing higher education and just settling down from all the craziness of the quests they've had to do over the years. After Tartarus, settling down did not sound too bad.
But the fog…its put a stop to those plans. The fog's not only increased monster activity, its also made communication difficult. Iris messages were a lot shorter. Being stuck in her dad's home with almost nothing to do was driving her crazy too.
"Caw! Caw!" Annabeth suddenly heard a raven as she noticed a raven hovering by the window carrying a message.
There's only one person who would send this… Annabeth thought getting up, Percy casting a curious look as Annabeth opened the window and let the raven in. It dropped the message before promptly leaving
"Is that…?"
"Magnus sent a letter." Annabeth spoke. She was a bit concerned about her cousin. He'd just stopped what was basically the Norse Apocalypse from starting in their time. After that, the last time there was any communication was when she was signing off Uncle Randolph's property to Magnus.
"He isn't…involved in another quest, is he?" Percy asked as Annabeth shrugged. If Magnus wanted some more advice, she would more than be happy to help. But the problem was getting to him because of the fog.
To Annabeth,
Hey, Annabeth. It's Magnus. I know you're really busy trying to settle down into a normal life, and you don't really want to go questing again…but I seriously need your help. I'm sure you have seen what this fog has done to the world, and I know its messing up stuff for you, so I actually wanted to give some information.
The Fog is coming from Britain. Odin can detect that its source is somewhere in Scotland. Me and the other Einherjar are stuck dealing with Jötnar activity in England, so we really need your and Percy's help. There's more to it, and I'll explain once you come to London.
I'm really sorry for dragging you into this mess, but its a really big problem, and I don't think we can solve this problem without working with each other.
IM me once you get this letter to tell me your choice. Its fine if you say no. I'll try to find another way.
Regards,
Magnus Chase
"You've got a tense look on your face, Wise girl." Percy spoke as Annabeth looked up. "Is it serious?"
"Magnus apparently knows where the fog is coming from." She spoke as Percy nodded slowly. "Let me guess, he wants our help?"
"Yeah. I can tell he's afraid that we'll say no. So, what do you think?" Annabeth asked.
"You first."
"I'm accepting it."
Percy raised his eyebrows. "You aren't this quick about making such choices."
"Magnus is my family, and he wouldn't really be asking us if he could have sorted it out with his friends."
Percy smiled. "Yeah, same here. Besides, we're not really able to go to college because of this fog. So, for the sake of my higher education, I'm coming." He spoke as Annabeth let out a soft laugh.
"Alright then, let's go IM Magnus." Percy spoke as he and Annabeth went to the closest water source they could find - the bathroom with hot water in the tap.
"O Iris, Goddess of the Rainbow, show me Magnus Chase." Annabeth asked as the mist shimmered to reveal Magnus with a fist to his cheek sitting at a table as what looked like absolute mayhem raged in the background.
"Uh…" Percy spoke as Magnus looked at them and jolted.
"Oh my…! You scared me." Magnus spoke with a hand to his chest.
"You asked me to IM you." Annabeth pointed out as Magnus smiled sheepishly.
"Yeah, you did. Even then." He spoke as a pale person with pointy ears came into view. Annabeth recognized him as Magnus' friend who'd come in when she met him at the funeral home.
Now that I think of it, I never really got his name…or know he was an Elf. Annabeth thought.
"Woah, is that an elf!" Percy exclaimed in excitement.
Yes, I am an Elf. The person signed. I am Hearthstone, or Hearth for short. Please don't make Lord of the Rings jokes about me.
"Hello." Annabeth greeted with a smile.
Hello, Annabeth. It's good to properly talk to you. Last time we didn't really have the time to talk. Hearth signed.
"I know." Annabeth spoke with a chuckle. "You and Magnus were on a quest."
"You know him?" Percy asked.
"Yeah, I met him at Magnus' funeral. Magnus was on a quest at that time so he and." Annabeth replied. "Speaking of which, what's going on in the background?"
Magnus looked back and then at Annabeth. "Oh, its just another drunken party among my fellow Einherjar."
"Oi, Chase!" A voice with a british accent cried out. "You want some Guinness?"
"Uh…no thank you, Godwin. I'm good." Magnus spoke looking off to the side before Annabeth noticed the iris message cutting off.
"Ok, Magnus. I'll be quick. I got your Raven. And me and Percy are coming." Annabeth spoke. "But we have problems of transportation."
Magnus' eyes widened as a smile blossomed on his. "Ok…I'll…"
"FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!" A number of voices yelled in the background.
We should get back to our room before we get dragged into a drunken brawl, Magnus. Hearth signed.
Magnus looked at Annabeth. "Thank you so much! I'll contact Odin about your problem! Bye!" He spoke waving as sounds of bottles shattering could be heard before the iris message cut out.
Percy looked at Annabeth. "Well, Magnus is having a fun time over there." He spoke.
Annabeth shook her head with a smile. "You should hear Magnus' stories about Valhalla…"
"I know. The Thanes' reports are informative." The raven spoke from the window as Annabeth and Percy screamed and cursed.
Since when did Magnus' Ravens talk?! Annabeth thought.
"Oh, Vetr's not talking. I'm just speaking through him." The raven spoke in what seemed like an aged voice.
Percy took a defensive stance. "Ok…talking bird, who are you?"
"Odin, Perseus Jackson."
Annabeth's eyes widened. "Odin? As in the All-Father?"
"One and the same."
Annabeth tilted his head. "So, we're meeting the head of the Norse Gods…in a bathroom?"
"I don't think I've had a meeting weirder than this." Percy spoke. "Maybe Apollo as a homeless man comes close…but yeah. Also, just how did you get in touch so quickly? I don't think its even been a minute since we cut off the Iris message."
"Huginn and Muninn were having a good time watching the Einherjar brawl when they heard Magnus' conversation. So, I took over Vetr here." Odin replied. "Anyways, I have the transportation arranged. But you'll have to take two more demigods with you."
Percy tilted his head as Annabeth narrowed her eyes. "Four?" She asked.
"What? Don't tell me you're hesitant about breaking the 3-7 rule? Should I give you a jog down the memory lane to the Labyrinth quest?"
Annabeth crossed her arms. "How did you…?"
"Not important. Anyways, four demigods. Contact your friends, and tell me their names once they accept, I'll have them here. When you're done, think of me and I'll be there."
"You can do that?" Percy asked.
"Of course! I didn't hang myself off of Yggdrasil for nothing!" Odin replied in an offended tone. "Now, go call your friends." He spoke before flying out.
So, we met the All-Father as a bird in a bathroom. Yeah, this is definitely the weirdest meeting we've ever had with a god. Annabeth thought before Percy scrunched up his nose.
"Oh my gods, did he really have to take a dump here?" He asked as Annabeth's eyes glared at where Odin flew off.
"Alright, so Odin wants us to go with two other people." Annabeth spoke. "Which means there's 3 others he's not telling us about or…"
"Wise girl, Odin was sort of right. You don't really stick to the 3-7 rule." Percy pointed out as Annabeth sighed. "Yes, yes. Now the question is who should we take? This is very far and I don't want more junior campers to come over. Almost everybody we know is just trying to settle down, and I don't know whether they'll accept like us."
"Hazel? She could offer useful insight." Percy spoke.
"With the increased monster attacks, I don't think one of Camp Jupiter's leaders should be so far from home."
"Reyna came over on Scipio."
"It was…different."
"Pi…" Percy went to open his mouth before shutting it as Annabeth shot him a warning look.
Not Piper. She thought. Piper had been forced out of her old home in Malibu by Caligula and had lost Jason. Unlike the others, Piper's life had gone downhill, and she needed some peace and quiet to recover. There was no way they were bringing Piper.
"Leo?"
Annabeth bit her lip. "Possible. He's now living in Indianapolis." She spoke. "What about Nico?"
"Uh…Nico's got a quest of his own. But he's also admitted that the fog's messing up stuff because of the monsters." Percy spoke as Annabeth sighed. "Alright, we'll call Leo and Nico and see if they agree."
First was Leo. Leo's face appeared in a large workshop. He was standing with a sad frown to his face along with little dark bags under his eyes.
What happened? Annabeth thought in confusion. Leo did not look this depressed at all. Either he was present with a goofy smile, or just a frown because of intense concentration on his work.
"Leo?" Percy asked with concern as Leo looked over. His eyes widened for a split second before his smile appeared.
Something's wrong. Annabeth thought.
"Hey, guys!" He spoke before tilting his head. "Are you in the bathroom?"
"Source of water. Can't go outside." Percy spoke as Leo sighed.
"Yeah, the fog. Even the Hunters are confused by the sheer increase in monster attacks ever since the fog came down. Right now, they're staying here in the Waystation." He spoke before grinning. "So, do you have any problem with your car? Did a harpy crash into its window?"
Percy recoiled as Leo snorted. "Did I actually guess that right?"
Percy nodded as Leo grinned. "Well, I could have come over if not for the fog. I guess that a hundred bucks out."
"Leo, is there something wrong?" Annabeth asked as Leo's smile turned brittle. "Uh…nothing, everything's all fine and dandy here."
Percy crossed his arms. "We saw you frowning. Besides, you look really, really depressed."
"Depressed? You think Leo Mcshizzle can ever be depressed? I'm a ball of sunlight!"
"Leo, don't hide it."
"Come on,Guys! Seriously, I'm…"
"Leo." Annabeth cut in with a stern tone as Leo threw up his arms in the air.
"Ok, fine! Gosh, that stare will haunt my dreams." He muttered before sighing. "It's Calli."
"Did something happen?" Percy asked as Leo masssaged his forehead.
"No…nothing too big. Relationship's a little rocky right now. Reyna really tore into me for not treating her properly. Which I don't get! Ok, I guess I annoy her a little, but it's not like I'm being cruel!" Leo exclaimed in frustration.
"She's not here, and I'm just missing her. I can't even continue my mechanic shop because the kids have stopped coming and the monster attacks are getting worse. I just can't find anything to do to get my poor skull some peace and quiet."
"Maybe you could take your mind off what's going on." Percy spoke as Leo looked at him curiously. "Like?"
"Well, my cousin Magnus sent me a letter from England. He says that the source of the fog is coming from Northern Britain and needs my help, so…"
"...You mean we're doing another quest?" Leo asked, going quiet in contemplation before nodding. "I'm in."
"Really? First Percy, now you. Are we really that eager to rush back?" Annabeth asked as Leo smiled softly.
"Hey, I miss those times when it was just me, Piper and…" Leo swallowed.
"And Jason, all going on a sugar rush to break Hera out of her cage. Maybe a quest does sound like a great idea. We're definitely going to face more problems, but hey! It's going to be good for me. So, I'm in." Leo spoke as Annabeth smiled.
One down.
"When are we leaving?" He asked as Percy looked at Annabeth. "Well, transportation's arranged. Pack your bags, we'll go to camp tomorrow."
"Anyone else?"
"Well, we're thinking of bringing Nico along too." Annabeth spoke.
"And you say you've got transportation done?"
"Yep. Just don't scream."
"Ok?" Leo spoke with a nervous chuckle before the call cut off.
"We're going to camp?" Percy asked.
"Well, we did gather a lot of information on the Mediterranean lands before we left. It's best we know what exactly Britain has. Plus, we need a prophecy to get an idea of what to do." Annabeth spoke.
"Cool, more learning." Percy spoke dryly as Annabeth punched his arm. "Shut up, Seaweed Brain."
Next up came Nico's image.
"Hm? Oh, hi." He spoke as Will popped in from the side.
"Percy! Annabeth! How are things in California?"
"Not great, because of the…you know…"
Will frowned. "Just why did this fog appear all of a sudden? Are we in trouble again?" He asked as Percy shrugged. "Maybe not too serious."
"Percy, you really believe its not too serious?" Nico asked as Percy snorted. "Fair point." he spoke before explaining the situation.
Nico and Will were silent once they were done.
"Well?" Will asked Nico.
"I told you about that quest…" He began carefully.
"But then again, we can't do anything because of this. The Troglodytes are complaining that the fog is really messing up their eyesight and coordination…I guess we can't get onto our quest as long as this is here. So, I guess I'm going." Nico spoke.
"I'll come too." Will spoke seriously before Nico looked at him. "Will, I don't think it's a good time for you to go."
Will frowned. "What? Who's going to make sure you stay in good health? You still are at risk whenever you use your powers?!"
"But cases of injuries are increasing because of the sharp rise in monsters near Camp. You're the head counselor and Camp's best healer, so they need you here."
"But…"
"Will, I'll be fine. It's better I go get this sorted than just sulk around in Camp." Nico spoke as Will glared at him.
"Fine, but I'm giving Annabeth your prescription!" He spoke before looking at Annabeth. "Are you coming to Camp?"
"In a couple of days."
"Wait a minute, how are you coming? I could…" Nico began before Annabeth raised her hand.
"No need, Nico. We've got it covered." She spoke as Percy smiled. "You don't need to worry about that, Neeks."
"Anyways, I'll have his prescription ready. Just make sure he does everything I've listed down." Will spoke as Annabeth nodded.
"Alright, Nico. Leo's coming too. Just have your bags ready when we come to camp. Once me, Percy and Leo come, we'll talk to Chiron before we leave for England."
Nico gave a thumbs up before the call cut off.
"Alright, that's the team assembled." Percy spoke as the two walked out, noticing Bobby and Matthew grinning at them from behind a corner.
Annabeth smiled. "It's not what you think, you two! Get back to your rooms!"
Bobby and Matthew giggled before running off.
"I think they're our biggest fans." Percy spoke as Annabeth shook her head. The two went down and sat back on the sofa.
Odin. She thought before the same raven appeared again.
"So, who are the other people?"
"Before you get them here, I want to say something." Annabeth spoke. "Could you send us to Camp Half-Blood in a couple of days?"
"Camp Half-Blood? Very well, you want me to bring the other two there?"
"One of them's there, Nico Di Angelo. The other one is Leo Valdez, although he's…"
"Living at the Waystation Indianapolis. Yes, I know. Whoever put those cloaking enchantments knows their magic."
"Do you just…know everything?" Percy asked.
"No. If I did know everything, then I would have been able to stop Ragnarok, not keep delaying it."
Annabeth stopped herself from pointing out that technically Magnus and other Einherjar do the hard work while Odin gives the directions.
"But anyways! Since you two need some more time, I'll wait. Good day." Odin spoke before flying off.
Percy leaned back on the couch. "Well, I could say something, but I would jinx it. So I'll just shut up."
Percy and Annabeth packed their bags and two days later, they were standing at the doorway, luggage in hand.
"Do you know how long this could take?" Her father asked as Annabeth frowned. "I don't know. We can't really tell how long this quest is going to take. But I guess it shouldn't take much time. But if it does take long…"
"It's fine. As long as you can contact me and come home, I can wait. Just be safe, Annabeth." Her father spoke as Annabeth hugged him. "Yeah, dad."
"Bye, Mr. Chase." Percy spoke as her father nodded. "Look out for Annabeth."
"We always do." Percy replied before he and Annabeth stepped out.
Alright, Odin. We're rea… Annabeth's world suddenly changed into the woods just outside of camp.
"Woah!" Annabeth spoke in surprise before someone screamed from her right.
"WHAT THE HADES?!" Leo screamed stumbling back as he sat by his luggage, which looked strangely like Festus' bronze plating.
"Hey, Leo. Looking good." Percy spoke as Leo glared. "Ok, could I not have gotten a warning? I tried to make a dramatic exit in front of everybody in the Waystation, and then nothing happened! I embarrassed myself in front of everyone!" He exclaimed as Annabeth and Percy laughed before helping Leo up and hugging him.
"Blame that on our transport." Annabeth spoke with a smile as Leo crossed his arms.
"Whoever it is, I'm going to shove a wrench up their…"
"Leo, it's Odin, the head of the Norse Pantheon." Annabeth spoke quickly before Leo could say something disastrous. Leo looked at her with narrowed eyes.
"...Norse?"
"Magnus is a Norse demigod."
"...Well, are there any other bombshells that I should hear?"
"Nothing. Let's go to camp." Percy spoke as the three walked towards camp.
In camp, Annabeth could see kids preparing to leave. It was only a few days before the summer ended, after all. The fog was much lighter in camp.
Annabeth spotted Nico standing in front of the Big House with his luggage, along with Rachel.
"Hey, Death Boy!" Leo spoke waving as Nico waved back.
"Yo." He spoke as Rachel smiled and waved as well.
"Chiron's waiting for us inside." He spoke as Percy looked at Rachel. "What's Rachel doing here?"
Rachel sighed. "I'll…explain when we get in."
Chiron was in wheelchair form when everyone entered, greeting them.
"So, you say your cousin needs help?" He asked as Annabeth nodded. "Yeah, he think he has a lead to solving the fog problem, but needs our help. Plus, we got contacted by Odin."
"Odin? You're referring to the head of the Norse Pantheon, right?" Nico asked as Annabeth nodded.
Chiron's face turned serious. "That is concerning. There are strict laws among the pantheons on interacting with the children of the gods or those with their blessing. Talking to demigods of a different pantheon is very risky and could easily lead to war. For Odin to approach you, the issue must not be good. You're saying Britain?"
"Yes."
"And you require some advice?" Another voice spoke as Annabeth noticed another person suddenly sitting away from them.
"Hecate." She spoke as the goddess of magic nodded. "If Odin hadn't talked to you, I would have come myself."
"You know what's going on?" Leo asked as Hecate frowned at him. "Not the full details, Leo Valdez. Something is forcefully releasing pumping magical energy into the mist, making it much stronger…to the point that its begun controlling the minds of mortals, which as you can see, is having them stay home. As for what that 'something' is, I cannot tell."
"But you're the goddess of magic."
"Yes. But whatever this is, it is beyond even my power. Your cousin is right that it is coming from Scotland, which is the main reason I can't find more information."
"Why not?" Percy asked.
"Because Scotland is as bad as the Ancient Lands." Hecate spoke as the demigods paled slightly.
"Hold on." Percy spoke. "How is Scotland so bad?"
"Because not only is it completely out of Olympus' hold, it is controlled by a different pantheon." Hecate spoke as Chiron sighed.
"Ah, yes, the Celtic Pantheon. They never really moved west like most others, restricting themselves to Western Europe and the British isles. They control all land beyond Hadrian's wall in Britain."
"Which is located near the English-Scottish border." Annabeth spoke. Now that was not good. Going into lands filled with greek monsters was one thing. Going into lands filled with monsters of a completely different pantheon was another.
"Unless you find a way to somehow stay in one place for long, this quest could force you to constantly move around Scotland."
"Are there any Celtic demigods?" Annabeth asked as Chiron stroked his beard. "There is a safe haven for Celtic demigods at the Isle of Skye, where their trained by my counterpart Scáthach, but they may not be of much help, seeing as they are locked in their own problems."
"Great, there's that gone."
"But you could avail help from another faction." Hecate spoke. "The Wizards."
Everybody was silent.
"Pardon?" Nico spoke.
"The Wizards." Hecate spoke, casting a glare at the Percy's and Leo's flabbergasted expressions.
"Wizards…as in old dudes wearing blue robes with moons and stars waving wands?" Leo asked as Percy turned away to stifled his laughter.
"Waving wands? Yes. The other thing? If they're old enough." Hecate spoke as Leo's eyes widened up.
"Does that mean there are witches with pointy hats and broomsticks?"
Hecate was silent before nodding, a hint of annoyance sparking across her eyes.
"Leo, shut up." Annabeth spoke before Leo could annoy the goddess any further.
"You're saying they exist?" Annabeth asked as Hecate nodded.
"Are they your worshippers?" Nico asked.
"No. I managed to get their magic system based on magic spells, so they do power me whenever they cast their magic, but their origin is…difficult to point out. I do remember my grandfather capturing some humans being able to wield magic for experimentation."
"Grandfather?"
"Koios." Hecate replied, Annabeth remembering the Titan they met back in Tartarus.
"Experimentation?" Rachel spoke in disgust.
"For his research. The earliest memories I have of these 'wizards' were the human samples Koios kept in his workshop to examine. I believe Koios was trying to harvest their magical energy and trace it to something. I do not know what that something is, since he never got to complete his research. After that, these 'wizards' first appeared in Egypt and spread from there, establishing their own society with proper administration and education."
"So, how will these wizards help us?" Annabeth asked.
"Regarding your prophecy problem." Hecate spoke as Percy looked at Rachel.
"Prophecy problem?"
"Rachel's…unable to give out prophecies, again." Chiron spoke as Annabeth blinked "Huh? How did it happen again?"
"Something's blocking me." Rachel spoke as she frowned. "Honestly, I only get a few days before my powers get shut off again."
When Annabeth had come in, her image of the quest was now a simple fog. But now, with the news of having to go to different territory, interacting with a group they've never heard of before and worst of all…not having a prophecy. Annabeth could see this quest getting more and more difficult.
"But…we can't do the quest if we can't get a Prophecy." Leo spoke. "Maybe the other Oracles."
"Trophonius and the Cumaean Sibyl are both gone. Pythia can't access her power, and same is for Dodona and Herophile."
"Wait, isn't Dodona deriving its power from Rhea?" Nico spoke.
"Which makes this even more concerning, because the source of the fog is apparently strong enough to block off the Queen of the Titans."
"Can we stop with the terrible news?" Percy asked as Hecate sighed. "If you wish to know, the Fates themselves said the wizards are needed for help with this prophecy problem. They didn't answer why."
"Perfect. So now we're going off on a quest, without any prophecy to guide us."
"What about the Sibylline books?" Annabeth asked. "They should be containing our prophecy?"
"The Sibylline books do not contain prophecies that involve matters outside of our pantheon. It was possible with the Romans and Greeks because they are different worshippers of the same gods. Your quest involves the Celtic pantheon, and hence the Prophecy must be containing details regarding the celtic pantheon, so the Sibylline books are useless in this regard."
"And the wizards can help with this how?" Nico asked.
"They have their own seers, who have recorded their visions in the form of prophecies. Since they do not belong to any pantheon in particular, they do not face the same problem."
"Do you know where the prophecy is?"
"Not here in America. I wager a guess that the prophecy is in Britain. For that, you will have to search yourselves."
"But we aren't just looking in a single city. This is an entire country! How can we possibly find one prophecy engraved on something we don't know?" Annabeth asked with a little frustration before frowning as the answer came to her.
"Check for information at Wizarding Britain's largest library." Hecate replied as Percy and Leo groaned.
"And where is this Library?" Annabeth asked.
"Scotland. Specifically, the foremost magical institution in Europe." Hecate spoke as Annabeth nodded. It did make sense.
"What's it called?"
Hecate pursed her lips as Annabeth looked at her suspiciously. "...Hogwarts."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"...Pardon?" Leo spoke as Percy squeezed his eyes shut and grabbed Annabeth's hand.
Hecate slumped back on her chair. "Yes, Hogwarts."
Percy and Leo erupted into a fit of giggles which slowly escalated into full-blown laughter. A grin broke across Nico's face while Annabeth tried hard not to laugh with them.
Shut up, you two! You're going to make me laugh! Annabeth thought as Chiron shook his head.
"Percy, Leo." He spoke as Percy and Leo slowly stopped laughing, gasping for breath.
"Oh gods, I need a minute from that." Leo spoke, getting up as Hecate looked at them shaking her head.
"Now that you two have had your fun, you are going to Hogwarts." She spoke before shutting up Percy and Leo with a glare as they started chuckling.
"So we're going to a magic school named 'Pig Warts'." Nico spoke.
"But we don't know magic." Annabeth pointed out.
"Say 'Áνεμoς'." Hecate spoke as Annabeth did so. A gust of air suddenly blew through the big house.
"Huh?" Annabeth spoke in confusion.
How did I…?
"Prolonged exposure to the Fog has saturated your Ichor with magic, albeit not as much as the amount of magical energy present in the ichor of my children. Your ichor amplifies your magic, although it is quite volatile and I would advise to be careful performing spells outside of Greek incantations."
"So we get magic powers? Nice! I think I still prefer my smokin' hot flames, though." Leo spoke as Hecate nodded calmly.
"As for the next part…" Hecate's eyes glowed as a headache formed on Annabeth's head.
"Gah!" Annabeth grunted as the others clutched their heads.
"What was that?" Leo asked as Hecate looked at him. "Explain to me the Unforgivable curses."
"The Unforgivable Curses are three curses which are considered to be the darkest of magic and have been banned. They include the Imperius Curse, the Cruciatus Curse and ooookaaayyy, how the heck do I know this?" Leo spoke as everyone stared at him with wide eyes.
"There are seven years in Hogwarts. You will be going in your fifth year, so I made sure to put all knowledge of the first four years into your heads. But, you'll still have to practice your spell."
Percy smiled. "So we don't have to do four years? I wish I had that in school earlier." He spoke as everyone chuckled.
"As I said, you still have to practice to get a hang of it. I'm sure Odin will cover up the rest once you reach England."
The demigods looked at each other. "Alright, I guess we can get this quest started." Percy spoke going to get up before Hecate stopped him.
"Wait. There is one last thing." Hecate spoke, snapping her fingers as Annabeth suddenly felt herself getting shorter.
Oh gods, now what did she… Annabeth's eyes widened looking at Percy, who now looked exactly how he did back during the battle of the labyrinth. Leo also looked how he did back when she first met him, but Nico looked pretty much the same.
"Now you all look like your 15-year-old selves. I shall go and sort out your admission into Hogwarts." Hecate spoke.
"Damn, Nico actually grew some height." Leo spoke as Nico scowled.
"Well, are there any other weird stuff that we need to do?" Percy asked.
"No. Now you may leave. Good luck, demigods." Hecate spoke before flashing away.
Chiron exhaled. "This is a very dangerous quest."
"We know." Annabeth replied.
"Which is why I am a bit relieved its you four. The more inexperienced campers would not have been ready for something like this." Chiron spoke. "Good luck and do come back home safely."
The demigods smiled before they walked out.
"Welp, off to magic school we go!" Leo spoke with a chuckle. "I wonder what are they going to teach…"
"Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, History of Magic…" Annabeth spoke before listing down all the subjects.
"I already don't like Defense Against the Dark Arts." Nico spoke with a groan. "From what I'm getting from Hecate's knowledge, people are going to think I'm some sort of Dark wizard."
"You're not one." Percy spoke.
"Look at me, Percy. If you were a wizard with no idea who I am, what will you think?" Nico asked as Leo looked over.
"Ok, I get your point." Leo spoke. "But the travel…" He paled. "Please don't tell me…"
"Yep. We're using Odin." Annabeth spoke.
Yes you are. Odin's voice spoke in their heads as Leo leapt into the air.
"You really need to warn us." Percy grumbled.
Apologies. Now, are you all ready?
Annabeth blinked. This is it. Off on another quest.
Immediately, the demigod's surroundings changed again. Now they were on the sidewalk, with someone right in front of them.
They were clearly a man, clad in a Laminar cuirass over leather clothing and Mail armor covering their face, along with a conical helmet on their head as well as vambraces and leg guards. A sword was sheathed by their hip and they carried a heavy battle axe and a round shield along with a spear with a curved blade.
Annabeth, Percy, Leo and Nico tensed.
"Welcome to England, demigods."
A/N: Since this is a new story, I'll be devoting some time to it before I get back to the others. Now I know Percy doesn't really want to get back to the whole questing thing again, but as Chalice of the Gods shows, if the problem is an obstacle to his goal of a settled life, Percy will do it. And I've made sure to give enough reason for Percy and Annabeth to get into it. It always confused me whenever authors wrote relatively extreme reactions from Percy in the crossovers whenever he hears there's a new quest. Maybe he'll be more hesitant if its a typical 'do this for me' quest from a God, but when a friend needs serious help, Percy will definitely come.
All of this makes me wish Percy was in Tower of Nero, it would have been amazing to see him lead the Greek demigods against Nero.
And the next thing is that I'm not following the trope of 'Hecate created the Wizards'. Can't have a good story if the audience knows everything, can I? So, different explanation for the origin of Wizards and Witches which will be later expanded upon.
10 points to those who figure out who greets the Greek Demigods at the end. And they're not really a famous individual, just a member of an interesting group.
Hope you guys enjoyed and constructive criticism is appreciated!
