I'm not sure how this'll go. This'll isn't a word... is it? Comment if it is or not. This won't be the only Christmas story either. Maybe a couple more. This will be a chase x Everest one shot because I like that ship soooo if you don't like I don't know what to say. Currently chapter 12 if CCAB is done (I need to go over it with someone and 13 is being written. I'm going over this one solo because it a one shot. Besides that hope ye enjoy. (I'll try to cut down the mistakes!)

A PRESENT SURPRISE

The pups were off to their unusual day. They all woke up very early in the morning and ran to the living room. This isn't Christmas Day. It's Christmas Eve. For one German Shepard it's going to be a great Christmas Eve.

A week ago

Chase sat down at the dinner table next skye and Marshall. The night before was a late night shift. He was bound to be drowsy. Across was his brother like friend. Not in friendship but in looks. It was rocky. Chase silently ate his dog food as he thought if one thing... Everest.

She could be considered a newer member of the paw patrol. She had joined a year and a half ago after finding her in the middle of an icy desert. She was found helping a good friend of Ryder and the pups. After the incident she had showed Ryder her bravery and honor. She was recruited to the paw patrol and now lives with jake on jakes mountain. When the pups first saw her they all gained a small attraction to her. Soon they all lost it... besides one... chase.

Chase had a hard time getting used to her. They had almost opposite personalities. They soon learned Everest was playful and carefree. Chase was almost always serious and second guessing himself trying to make the safest move. She seemed like she would like Marshall or zuma more. One pup had a lucky guess.

"Alright pups, I'll be back." Ryder said as he put his plate in the modified dishwasher. It's colors where silver, red, and blue. Their team colors.

"Where are you going?" Rubble asked being the first one done with his food making him the only one being able to talk.

Ryder took a long pause. "Too pick up Everest for the week." He answered.

"Okay." Rubble replied.

Chase expected to be called on next. "Chase, pretty sure you know the drill. Make sure everyone is safe till I get back. In maybe 3 hours or so."

Chase paused his eating and mustered up his best feeling good voice. "Okay Ryder sir." He said before finishing up the rest.

"Bye!" The pups said as Ryder walked out.

Soon they were all done with their food. "What should we talk about?" Rubble asked.

"I need to speak to chase for a second." Skye said standing up.

The pups almost made an "OoH" noise. Skye was the only female at the lookout and she had never talked to anyone in private.

Chase yawned and got up. She had walked to the living room. Chase made his way there. On the way there he notices Marshall giving a concerned look.

Chase squared up to skye and looked down to he. He sat down to get to her height. "Funny..." she remarked.

"I know what your hiding..." skye said with a smirk.

Chases senses seemed to skyrocket. He had never hid anything from the pups. Besides his crush on Everest but besides that nothing. She definitely had to know.

"How'd you find out?" Chase asked trying to see what he was caught lacking on.

"I knew it! So it's true..." skye said in a whisper.

Chase felt played. She didn't know 100% but now he just secured it for her. He just dug himself into a hole. He had to get out.

"Pleeaaasse don't tell anyone..." chase said as he pleaded for her mercy.

"Ryder and the others will know soon" skye said.

Chases situation got worse. "Please don't tell the other I like her. She coming over for the week and the last thing I need is Everest catching wind of this..." chase asked standing back up now.

Skye froze in shock with what she just heard. "Y-you just said you like her? As in Everest? I thought you w-were the one who took my wish list..." skye said receiving more than what she asked for.

Chase realized what he had just did. Not only did he not have to tell skye but now skye knows without even trying. "I can explain..." chase replied.

"You dont need to explain. I like Marshall. But you told the right person. As Everest's best friend I can help you. Although you guys have different perspectives on life. Just stick with me and I'll help ya." Skye said

Chase felt relieved and weird at the same time. She won't tell but the help is bothering him. He doesn't really plan on asking her out. Sorta just let things play out.

"I'll tell you everything you need to know about her. Like anyone will get mad over you taking out Everest." Skye shrugged.

"Let's get back to the others. Then we'll talk about this later." Chase suggested.

"Alright." Skye replied.

They both walked back into the noisy room with all the pups talking. Marshall looked ticked off too Chase. He put it aside and talked with the other pups. He couldn't put it up for long as he fell asleep shortly after.

Everest jumped in the snow excitement. She hadn't seen the pups in 3 months. Things get busy when winter starts.

"Everest! Ryder will be here in 2 minutes!" Jake said with gloves and a cup of hot chocolate.

She couldn't find a way to express how excited she was. She had to just wait.

At the lookout the pups weren't going to mess up on a chance to embarrass their sleeping friend. "This comes out right?" Skye asked.

"All of this comes out. A good 10 minutes will get it out." Rocky said looking at the mess in chases head.

They had put a lollipop, peanut butter, and some slime. "Hopefully they can get back before he wakes up." Rubble said.

1 hours 26 minutes later

The pups heard the car engine pull up. They already had an idea to get chase panicking .

"Chase chase chase!" Zuma said walking him up.

"Wha--" chase mumbled

"Ryder and Everest are here!" Rubble said.

Chase jumped up and lined up with the pups. He could smell a lot of things that he shouldn't be smelling.

His nose guided him around and around.

"I'm bac- chase?!?" Ryder asked in confusion.

"Yes Ryder sir!" Chase replied still sniffing the air.

The pups held their laughs in as long as they can. They were close to breaking.

Everest was just as confused as Ryder when she walked in.

"You might wanna look in the restroom." Ryder said already getting an idea on what happened.

"He can wash that off right?" Ryder asked.

"Wash what o-" chase said before stopping and walking up the stairs with a long sigh.

"Yes..." rocky said giving up and letting out his laugh. The others let it out too.

"I'm confused..." Everest said.

"It was a prank. I'm fine with them as long as it can be undone, doesn't cause harm, and it not something important to the one getting pranked." Ryder explained.

"Oh, okay." Everest said already planning on some pranks.

The pups noticed the other two not laughing and their giggling stopped. "Are we in trouble?" Rubble asked.

Ryder smiled. "Not yet."

The pups hoped rocky was right when he said it comes off.

Chase rubbed off peanut butter and the lollipop already. "Why now..." chase mumbled as he rubbed. His coat was a little bigger for the winter season. Only rocky and chase had got a thicker coat. It pays off for winter but after winter fur gets everywhere.

Chase felt around as his head soaked under the faucet. He looked at the mirror and didn't see any slime. He didn't like getting involved with pranking. He wasn't a fan of it. It was a pain to clean up and set up.

He got a towel and dried up his fur. "Good enough." He thought. The stairs seemed longer than before. He just needed to pretend she's just a friend. Which she is...

Chase got back down and saw everyone talking down stairs. They haven't decorated their Christmas tree. Sorta been waiting around. Maybe they'll do that.

"How was your bath?" Rocky asked

Chase rolled his eyes. "Good..."

"Hey chase." Everest said

"Hii." Chase calmly said.

2 days ago

Chase had got his nervousness down. He had spent more time with skye than anything these past 3 days. Chase knew more about Everest and things she liked and did. He was feeling confident

Marshall always seemed a bit more dim every time chase spoke to him. Like he lost a part of himself.

"Alright pups, we are going to decorate the tree. It's a pretty big tree as well." Ryder said walking outside.

They pups looked at the tree in front of them. They were in awe. "That's not what I was expecting." Rubble said looking at the slightly smaller than usual tree.

"There's more." Ryder said.

The pups looked at the line of trees. There was 5 of them. "There's 7 of us." Rubble said

"Your forgetting us." A voice said from behind.

They turned around to see track, tuck, and Ella. "Oh, when did you guys get there?" Chase asked

"Right now." Tuck said.

They were the other 3 members of the paw patrol. They didn't live with them like Everest and jake.

"There's 10. We are going to have a Christmas tree decorating competition. And a ginger bread house competition too." Ryder said.

"Everyone get into teams." He added

Chase went for Marshall but skye beat him too it. His second choice was tuck but he already was with rubble. "Maybe z- bot zuma" chase mumbled as he watched zuma and rocky stand at a tree.

"Looks like it's me and you..." Everest said making chase jump.

"Yeah, okay." Chase said.

Next to each tree was a box full of lights, ornaments and a star.

"You guys can get started! You have 15 minutes!" Ryder said clicking on a stop watch.

"We should go with the colored lights." Chase said

"But the white ones look better." Everest said

"The colored ones are safer. Everyone will use the colored lights. Plus I'm not sure Ryder likes those." Chase said

"We can risk it to win it." Everest said.

Chase didn't want to debate any longer and went with the white lights.

They started rotating around the tree. Chase was taking it slower to get the missing spots that Everest left. Everest didn't realize how fast she was going. Until she had tangled herself and chase.

"Uhh... Everest." Chase said

"Y-yeah." Everest said

"Why are my paws tied to the tree?" Chase asked trying to wiggle himself out.

"I wonder how that happened." Everest chuckled nervously.

Chase managed to wriggle his front paws out and soon the back paws came out. He went over to see Everest looking at skye and Marshall making a beautiful tree.

"They are perfect for each other." Everest sighed.

"What?" Chase asked

"N-nothing." Everest said.

"Do you think they like each other?" Chase asked knowing half the answer. He started to untangle Everest.

"Don't tell anyone but Marshall told me. Mainly because I know Skye the most." Everest explained.

"Oh... wow, that interesting because the day you came over Skye told me she liked Marshall." Chase chuckled.

"Really?" Everest said

"Y-yeah..." chase replied.

"What did you tell her?" Everest asked

"Why do you mean?" Chase replied knowing exactly what he told her.

"I know Skye and she wouldn't tell anyone a secret like that for no reason. Especially you... You have to have told her something." Everest said

"I told her I was claustrophobic." Chase lied

"C'mon, we all know your claustrophobic." Everest said. "Why did you actually tell her?" She insisted.

"Why do I need to tell you?" Chase said pulling on a light cord. He's been doing that but this one released Everest unexpectedly causing her too fall. Luckily chase caught her.

"Uhhhh..."

They both had a tint of red growing on their faces. "I-I'm fine." Everest said trying to break the awkwardness.

"G-good. Let's uhh redo these lights." Chase suggested.

"Yeah."

Tuck and Ella had left because they have their own house and owners to be with. Tracker was staying till Christmas Eve. But for the pups it was getting late. They were all trying to watch the Grinch but most of them fell asleep. Besides 4. Zuma, rubble, chase and Everest were awake. "Looks like they got *yawn* what they wanted.." chase said looking at Marshall and Skye cuddle while they slept.

Everest looked over and her heart crushed into a million little happy hearts. "You know w-" Everest started before seeing chase curled up and sleeping.

She sighed before putting her own head down and dozing off and dreaming.

Christmas Eve

Now that we've seen the events prior to what happens between these two we can see what Happens.

The pups ran into the living room tails wagging and paws moving. "Hey pups!" Ryder said

"Ryder Sir!" Chase said.

The pups looked at the tree they decorated together. Under it were presents on top of presents.

"You guys get to pick ONE to open." Ryder said looking at the presents.

The pups walked over to the tree and picked out a present. Besides chase as usual.

"So, everyone ready?" Ryder asked.

They all nodded. "You can open them." Ryder said

They started tearing through through the wrapping paper. Besides Rocky. As the recycling pup he slowly and carefully started taking apart the wrapping paper.

"Maybe I'll open one." Chase said walking over to a skinnier looking present with his name on it.

Ryder smiled and focused on chase open his present.

Chase opened it and it was a framed piece of paper. He was confused at first but he read it, it started making sense.

He didn't even need to read it to know what it was. He hugged Ryder and walked outside to process what just happened. Nothing could make this day better...

"What happened?" Everest asked.

"Something great." Chase said.

"You fell asleep yesterday. What was that about?" Everest asked

"I was tired." Chase said

"I thought you and Skye had something... since you two hung out for a bit. Then they got together but why were you with Skye those 3 days?" Everest asked.

"Talking..." chase lied.

"You know that I know right." Everest said

Chase felt a repeat of what happened last time. "Know what?" He asked

"That you like me." Everest said coldly.

"Oh..." chase said

"I don't like you in that way.." Everest said.

Chase didn't know what to think when he heard those words. "Um..."

"I'm just kidding you dummy." Everest joked.

Chase sighed in frustration. He needs to stop falling for things like that.

Everest's giggling was cut off from a kiss from chase. They started breathing in from their noses to make it last longer.

"Wow..." Everest said not knowing chase could kiss this well. It was a pleasant surprise for her.

Well... that's that. And uhh. I'm gonna get to working on chapter 13
