Chapter 2

Edit 2:Thanks for the review and glad you enjoyed the plot at least.

My nemesis is the holy three grammar, spelling, and sentence structure. Thus I just got Grammarly and re-uploaded this chapter just for you. won't fix everything, but hope it helps.

Taylor POV

Opening up her eyes brought about a serious realization.

'Well, they had done it, they killed her'.

It's the only conclusion one would get when your first sight was the embodiment of death standing over you in regal purple robes.

She should have been surprised the trio would take it so far, but now, with the time to reflect it was obvious their escalation of those "pranks" would eventually lead to it. A part of her was relieved her hell of life at school was finally over.

"Ahh good, you're awake and let me check, hmmm yes it seems it cured your mental state" ohh that's nice, thanks death. She moved to try and thank him but found out that pain didn't agree with that decision. 'Oww, seems my suffering won't stop even in death'. To her surprise death knelt by her, "wait a moment, I need to heal you first" he then pulled out a blood vile from the abyss and poured it on her. She wasn't going to complain, not when it was death and her pain disappeared.

She could see death continue to speak, but the relief from pain combined with her previous mental state left her tired. Closing her eyes once more, she just enjoyed the cool wind and how energized being dead felt.

'When had she felt so refreshed, was it before Emma betrayed her, or had it been further back before her mom died?

"Did the potion not work, hmm"

'Would the Trio get away with even her death, Would the school just hide it like they ignored everything else? She hoped that murder was something the school wouldn't ignore, but she wouldn't hold her breath. Ha, not that it mattered…Wait why she was still breathing? Dead people didn't need to breathe right?'

Opening her eyes once more, she spotted death still there, Taking a look around it was now obvious she wasn't in some holy land or even a weirdly impossible office, she had seen in movies where souls waited for judgment. What she was on, was a gravel roof, if the familiar skyscraper she could see peeking over the edge meant anything, she was still in Brockton bay.

'This isn't good, if I'm not dead and somehow I'm starting to think I'm not, then what's going on, I was just in the locker, then i….the locker ohh god the locker'. The unnatural calmness she felt, seemed to be wearing off as her heart began to pound and she started hyperventilating. Her mind began to relive the horror, causing her to scream.

To Ainz's horror, in her frenzy, Taylor had scurried toward the edge

[Strength of mind]

Instantly, she focused once more on her surroundings, the horrors, and pain felt like long-past memories.

"Good seems to have calmed you down," the skeleton said like it hadn't just mastered her, but still she did feel calm again. Looking up at him, she had to ask. "Who, what are you, and what do you want with me"

Her question may have offended him as he just stared at her, she felt those twin red flames he used as eyes burn into her. Even as calm as she felt, those eyes made her want to shrivel up in a corner and await death. Then as if he finally decided to provide her mercy, the aura of death disappeared. In its place stood a regal undead king with open arms as if to proclaim to everyone his name." My name is Ainz ooal gown, ruler of the Great Tomb of Nazarik".

"Now if I had to guess, I'm here due to you being a parahuman, not that I know anything about such a class" she froze, wait what, she a parahuman. But she had no powers.

"I'm, not a parahuman". Her life wouldn't be so shitty if she had powers.

He, it, Taylor wasn't sure, but the skeleton looked confident as it continued to give her hope. "Ahh so you aren't aware, I assure you that you are a parahuman. In fact, it's likely the reason I am currently here, for It seems I'm tethered to this world through you".

"Wait, wait."Why was it spouting nonsense so calmly " What does connect to me mean and like what kinda power is that" If he was telling the truth, then what kinda power did she get? It was too much, minutes ago she was sure she died and now a skeleton, acting as an ancient king name Ainz oal something, told her her lifelong dream was true, but instead of awesome powers she got scary talking undead.

He just looked at her for a bit, "Seems you are not taking this well" 'no shit'. He just shook his head "Taylor, I have a spell that allows me to check people's power and abilities, when I found myself summoned near you, I decided to check you. " Ok, ok so he checked her with a spell, spell?. "When I did, you came up as a parahuman, I take it from what you said, you know a bit of the term, my spell showed me that we are connected, somehow you summoned me and can share my mana. I'm not aware of anything beyond that, as I'm not from this world."

Catching on to the most important part of what he said, she had to ask "mana, so like can I use magic "Ok if this is a magic skeleton and she could use magic, she wouldn't complain about her power anymore. Now that she was somewhat confident the skeleton didn't plan to kill her, she got up, it had been getting awkward having a conversation while staring up at the tall undead.

Looking back, she finally noticed how close she was to falling off, and quickly she made her way back to a safer spot. The skeleton seemed amused by how fast she moved, to her irritation. 'how can such a face even look amused, it doesn't even have muscles to make that look'.

As he didn't seem to be ready to attack nor looked angry, she had to think. 'So I got powers, those powers 'summoned' something and that is a skeleton. If it was to be believed it came from another world and had magic. God Taylor, why couldn't you get something simple' eyeing him once more he still looked relaxed 'I need to say something, what if he is waiting on me'

"Soo" as calm as she was she still couldn't find the words to say. 'What was she supposed to say now, hey yeah so you're my powers right cool' Still there was something she needed to know, something that hearing parahuman gave her hopes of being. "So Ainz ool goan, gown….If you are here as a result of my powers, does that mean you plan to help me be a hero" For some weird reason he became unfocused when she said, hero?

"Hero," he said in a whisper, before looking seriously at her. " Possibly, I'm not quite sure what you're imagining when you say, hero."The fact he hadn't directly said no, gave her hope. Still, she felt a bit bad, if her power did kidnap him from wherever he said he is from. "For now, my main concern is keeping you alive and looking into this world, as I seem to be stuck here, "Ohh and just call me Ainz, it will be a lot easier".

" You can try the library" she spouted out, to his mentioning needing knowledge

"Library?"

She felt dumb now that she said it, but decided to keep going "yeah, I mean the library has computers and books which you can use to research anything you want" Ainz didn't seem insulted, he just nodded in agreement. Now more confident and feeling guilty for bringing ainz into this world, she went over as many things she felt he would need to know. He seemed understanding when she hinted he should cover up to avoid scaring people and how people will see his clothes and assume he was a cape. This brought about an hour's explanation into capes and the few key details she knew of how powers came to be. Ainz seemed focused on getting any details related to power types, the most dangerous capes, and those capes in the city. She tried to ask Ainz questions as well, but she was worried to offend him. Most she got was how he used magic and specialized in necromancy. She wanted to know more, but Ainz promised to talk in the future as the day was getting late.

"Well Taylor, It would seem you triggered as some type of Master and if I understood your explanation right, I would be considered your projection. Not that I understand how this resulted in my arrival or how your power seems to be anchoring me to remain in it".

"Yeah", she had come to that conclusion as well. Still, before ainz disappeared where ever he seemed to want to go she had to ask again. "so will you help me become a hero" She asked hopefully.

The world moved fast, this morning was the worst day of her life, yet hours later she was feeling great and excited to start her career as a hero ' fuck school and fuck Emma, Sophia, Madison, and all those kids at Winslow. Ainz promised to help her be a hero and her life would finally get better, she even got to experience flight as Ainz could seemingly levitate both of them when he brought her home. Walking into her home she smiled brightly at her dad, eager for tomorrow. Now, if only she was aware the calmness would fade as those multiple, [strengthen-the-mind], spells would eventually ware off.

AINZ POV

When she asked if he would help be a hero the second time, he knew exactly what she meant.

It was something straight out of a comic, dressing up and fighting crime, something he reasoned was a bad idea. His life depended on her survival and fighting crime was the opposite of staying safe. He wanted to say no, 'But, Saving someone in need is always the right thing to do'. He could only imagine what would Touch Me do, how could he spit in his memory by turning down someone looking to be a hero. ' maybe I can be for Taylor what Touch Me was for me, reaching out in my darkest moment and helping me out'.

At that moment, he had to say yes, if only to respect Touch Me, " Taylor, I'll help you get ready, I can provide items and gear, but first, we need to test out how effective and whether you can use them. This, of course, will depend on how much I can trust you, my life depends on your survival, and this means I don't want you to rush into danger." He could see how determined she was so they made the deal.

After that, he flew her home and promised to find her the next day, for he wanted to explore Brockton Bay and check out that library.

It was sundown and this provided a beautiful backdrop as he flew through the city. As disheveled as some parts of the city looked, it was still overall nice to look at. Well, it's likely the clear blue ocean and clean sky made up for any negative impact the city gave, as before today, games and pictures had been the closest thing to seeing this. Putting on his mask of envy and gauntlets to cover his hands, he drifted down towards the library Taylor mentioned.

Perfect unknowable made it pointless, but he wasn't sure that some cape's power couldn't see through it, so he took extra precautions. Making his way in, he spotted some computers in the far back. Taylor had given him a rundown on how to use them assuming he had never seen one, he was glad as it simplified how this brick masquerading as a computer worked.

Safely hidden in the back where no one would see a computer in use, he began his investigation.' let's see, Taylor mentioned Alexandria, Eidolon, and hmm, ahh yes legend, if these three are the strongest heroes in the world, then he should know everything about them in case they decide to attack him, he would be a fool to assume he was safe because they were labeled heroes."

A few minutes later he could only shake his head at it, "really beyond this Eidolon, they are all so easy to kill. Even then, if I can trick eidolon to use up his power slots, then an instant death spell could be used to finish him, yes that would work". "Hahaha"... Looking around, he sighed in relief, 'glad no one can hear me' " still, while players in Yggdrasil had similar sites to this pho in sharing information, the best guilds did their best to have hidden powers and abilities. 'They may have hidden powers or ticks, yes I can't get too confident, people known as the best surely wouldn't prepare a trump card

'

Switching over, he searched capes in the city

"The same, from villains, heroes, and wards, anything people could find out, was posted online and worse the hero's seemed to willingly share information." ' No wonder they are losing '.

He couldn't understand how these heroes' had almost everything about them listed online.

So far his only concern was lung, who can strengthen himself to the level of a dungeon boss, beyond him no one in this city had any decent powers. The ward cockblocker was interesting since his power mimicked a 9th tear spell called temporal stasis and he would likely look into it, to see if any connection existed, 'would my time stop countermeasures block his power, it be interesting to find out.'

Checking in on capes was also to see the dangers Taylor would experience if she went through being a hero. He knew he would need to shadow her for a while, just in case, but I would have been foolish not to prepare for all possibilities. So far, he had found out that while dangerous, capes had a weird unwritten set of rules, which highly motivated capes to not use deadly force in combat. It was idiotic, they allowed civilians to die as collateral damage while the capes got to go home without worry. The idiocy of it was compounded by how many confirmed villains just in this city broke those rules. Those being lung, Oni lee, and hook wolf all known killers who got away because the heroes didn't want to risk a big fight, instead preferred constant small once over the past years.

He would look more into capes tomorrow, for now, he wanted to explore the city more. ' ha, maybe I'll debut as a cape myself. "It was risky, but from his readings, being publicly known protected you from being attacked randomly. If he could build the image as a neutral party, it would give him the freedom of exploring the city without hiding.

'the trick is showing both sides that Ainz Ooal Gown never loses"

I find my mistakes through listening, so after uploading this story, I use the fanfics audio function and correct everything that sounds wrong. So yeah, hopefully, I'll edit the issues before you read this.

Now a few questions

Who should ainz meet/fight next chapter? I want ainz to randomly run into someone and establish himself.

I had three plot routes, I guess

Neia route, He drags Taylor around and convinces her killing is the best way to help the city.

Keno's route, he attaches himself to Taylor and proceeds to just go along with her goals.

Independent route, What I'm thinking is having Ainz be more independent, give Taylor advice and gear(items) then proceed to just be casual, when bored killing s class threats and returning to his fortress. Which do you guys like?

Reviews

Janevr . I wanted her to freak, but fanfics and if my memory is correct Taylor had a mental breakdown from the locker. Adding a skeleton to that, felt like a dick move, which is why she got some good ole magic. Hope i didn't disappoint to much.

Dtutu134, don't worry, Ainz needs to role-play a demon king or he would be ainz. I plan to give items with some spells already set, not sure about what spells her staff will have beyond creating low-tier undead and negative touch.

Draco0905, No tomb, writing all those characters and complicated demiurge plots would be to much for me.
