Sorry for not making this as long as the other ones. Like I said most of these one shots are just thrown away ideas but this one is bugging me. Anyways hopefully o don't regret this and hope you enjoy! Also it's been a awhile since my last one shot. I have like 6 unfinished ones because why not. Hope you enjoy... again. Twice I've said that.

The blizzard

Every paw patrol member has showed all kinds of feelings. Sadness, anger, happiness, seriousness, the whole shabang. Besides Chase. None of the pups have seen him cry. His heart seemed to be as cold as ice but also as warm as the sun. They wondered how someone could always keep their head up without every feeling out of place or like they aren't ever wanted. Nobody really confronted him about because they sorta wanted to learn it through friendship. Almost everything has hit them and Chase never let one tear escape. They were convinced 100% nothing scared Chase.

"Paw Patrol! To the lookout!" Ryder called from their pups tags.

"Race ya!" Marshall challenged as he ran past Zuma and Rocky. They followed behind the surprisingly fast Dalmatian. Everyone paused when Marshall arrived at the elevator. "Oh... I can walk too it's fine." Marshall sadly said as he walked in.

Everyone else jumped in and cheered that nobody fell this time.

"Ready for action Ryder sir!" Chase exclaimed as he jumped into his spot.

"Alright pups, we're gonna have to do a double mission today! Skye! I'm gonna need you to get Chase to Jakes mountain as fast as possible. There's going to be a snowstorm and a hiker has reported missing. Chase, you won't have your usual gear for this one. You will have bright red gear and you will give Everest some bright yellow gear. It'll keep both of you warm and has special blankets for the lost hiker."

"This pup's gotta fly!"

"Chase is on the case!"

"Bye Skye!" Marshall called out.

They all looked at him. "Can't say by to my girlfriend?" He asked.

They both ran down the stairs to grab the gear they somehow missed while heading to the top of the lookout.

"Rocky, Rubble, and Marshall. We have a slight issue with some traffic lights. They have all turned red and won't turn any other color. Marshall, you will need your ladder, Rocky you need to do what you do best and rewire them with whatever you got, and Rubble. You need to find what happened and what caused them to malfunction like this." Ryder ordered

Zuma sighed.

"You look weird wearing all red. It's sorta Marshall's thing." Skye giggled.

"Yeah yeah, laugh at it now. Wait till you see Everest in all yellow." Chase replied with a smirk.

"Definitely would look better than you..." Skye said.

Both pups looked at the huge clouds rolling over other mountains. The seriousness of the mission spiked. "Be safe Chase." Skye said.

Chase was confused. Skye hadn't ever gave him a warning before a mission. "I'll be fine. I'll have the best snow dog by my side." Chase replied.

"Better hurry then, those clouds do not look light at all." Skye said.

"When did you become a weather expert?" Chase asked.

"Really Chase? I'm a pilot... of course I need to have some knowledge on weather." Skye replied with an eye roll.

"Prepare for landing."

They slowly lowered down to the ground. "Hurry and get out, Ryder probably needs me." Skye rushed.

Chase mumbled as he jumped out with the new gear.

"What's that?" Everest asked.

"Your new gear. Specially designed by Ryder." Chase said.

"Why is it so bright? And shiny." Everest asked.

"I guess if we get lost or something. Plus there's this rope we can attach onto our vests.."Chase added as he held it up.

"We won't need it." Everest replied.

Everest took off her usual gear and put on the other new and supposedly better gear. "Where do we start?" Chase asked.

"They went hiking on the restricted trail." Jake said with an unamused face.

They followed jake to a chain link fence with a hole in it. On the floor was bolt cutters. "I can maybe follow their scent." Chase said as he made an attempt to jump through the hole. "Ow!" He yelped. One of the pieces poked him from the bottom.

He pushed it down for Everest to make sure the same thing wouldn't happen. "What a gentleman." Everest joked.

Chase scoffed and rolled his eyes. He noticed they were heading towards the storm. Chase barely noticed the boots he had on. "Pretty comfy." He said as he jumped up and down.

"Can we hurry, I don't wanna get caught in the storm." Everest interrupted.

"What's with the attitude? It's just a little snow." Chase replied.

"You don't know how bad they get, this one seems like the worst I've ever seen." Everest explained. She had a terrible experience with it.

On their walk they experienced light snow, then it became heavy snow. They didn't even know how it happened. Chase looked around to try and find the bright yellow helmet. "Everest!" He called out. The winds completely shut out his voice. He looked down and couldn't even see his own paws. "G-goggles!" He barked out.

Things got a little clearer but not by much at all. He felt a cold paw touch his back. He turned around to see Everest hanging onto his pup pack. He could see her mouth moving but no noise came out.

He pulled out the rope and put it in front of her face so she could see what he was trying to do. She nodded and Chase attached it her. The winds were even louder, the snow got more dense, and it got way colder. He grabbed one of Everest's paws and held onto it for dear life. He couldn't put the rope onto himself. He slowly felt around for a second paw. Once he found it he took deep breathes. He gave her the rope. He waited a couple of seconds and heard nothing. He still held onto her other paw like it was the last thing he's ever touch.

He felt the click and he let out a sighed of relief. At this point he could only see his paw when it was about an inch away from his eyes.

He kept walking hoping to find any sign of an accident. He noticed what he can see of the rope slightly move to his right. He knew Everest was on his right. After 3 minutes of walking in the cold, hard winds and almost no vision the winds decided to blow even harder.

Everest looked around to find any sort of tree for a little bit of cover. She wasn't sure how Chase kept walking. She was iffy with this mission, the moment she heard about the snow storm.

She felt a tug on the rope. She could even see it. The front of her snout was becoming difficult to see. Then things started going bad. She felt the rope tuck her hind legs. She thought he was just passing by but the rope stayed behind her. She growled and turned around to stop Chase from do anything more. But when she did there was no sign of Chase. She felt around to find rope.

She picked it up and put it up close to her face. She could see that the hook part had broke because of the cold. She started to panic. She slowly backed up from the trail. She slipped and things got even worse. "WOOA- the winds blocked out the yell.

Chase ran in circles. "EVEREST!"

He didn't know which way was the right direction anymore. It all felt the same. "nononononono... I can't do this, what will Ryder think of me!?! I let a member die on my own paws. I was right next to her!?" Chase said as he sat down. The cold was starting to get to him. He started to come up with an obvious plan. "O-okay, wait for the snow to stop and find Everest. No biggie." Chase said. He tried his best to keep out all the bad thoughts.

The snow and wind started to let out. Things slowly got more visible. He took off his goggles to look at where they were.

"What the..." he mumbled as he looked off the mountain. The snow stopped and he couldn't even see his old paw prints. "Everest!" He called out.

He started to try and back track.

"Everest!" He called out once more.

Not one trace of her was left.

Chase hopelessly sat next to a tree and slowly tapped his head against it. He felt like he failed the single most important job he had. To keep everyone in check and safe. He tried to think of a place but he couldn't even see his old footprints. In his thoughts he didn't realize he was letting out tears.

"Chase?"

Chases eyes shot open, he sniffed and wiped away any tears so that the voice couldn't see them. "Everest!" He replied as he ran over to her and gave her a hug. "You have no clue how worried I was!" He said.

"Mhm... were you crying?" Everest asked.

"N-no, why would I be crying?" Chase nervously replied and let go.

Everest regretted asking that question. The hug was kinda nice. "Chase I'm not dumb, there are visible tear marks that are turning into icicles on your face." Everest replied.

Chase didn't know how to respond to that. She had him. "Yeah, only for a bit!" Chase sighed. "And don't tell any of the other pups." He added.

"I've never seen you cry before. thats kinda neat. And why can't I tell the others?" Everest asked.

Chase sighed. "1 they would make a big deal over it and 2 I don't want them to get the wrong impression. Ryder said that they looked up to me because I'm the oldest and most responsible. So I might as well set the best example." Chase answered.

"Thatsssss so heartwarming awe ." Everest cooed. Chase just rolled his eyes.

"And the first time I've seen you cry... was because of me! I'm special enough to make you cry!" Everest said as she started to jump in circles.

"I'm pretty sure if that happened to any of them I would've done the same." Chase replied.

"No because we're in the in the snow, the others simply can't handle the snow." Everest objected.

Chase rolled his eyes. "We still need to find the hiker." Chase said.

Everest still wanted to talk about it, she never took Chase for a caring pup. She guessed he was. Just didn't show it.

"For one thing he definitely slipped down one of these hills." Everest said.

"Where did you go? After the rope broke?" Chase asked.

"I slid down the mountain. I hit a tree so I just held onto it for dear life." Everest said.

They heard a roar from a wild animal. "W-w-what was that?" Everest asked as he instinctively got closer to Chase. He didn't want to ruin anything so he kept quiet:

"We can hope it was a bob cat." Chase replied and he analyzed the edges for any clues.

"Is that blood?" Everest asked from behind.

Chase ran over to see blood on a tree. "Do you have another rope?" Everest asked.

"I think your pack should have one... I thought you said we didn't need it though?" Chase said.

"Well people's opinions change." Everest replies as she pulls out a rope. She hooked it onto Chase and Chase hooked it into her.

They carefully walk down the steep mountain. Chase started giving obvious safety advice."Don't faAAHAHHH-

Chase stopped yelling he felt himself hanging there. He looked up to see Everest hanging onto a tree. "Thank you." He says as he gets back on his feet.

They reach the tree with the blood before hearing the roar again. It was way closer than before. On their right there was an odd looking rock. "*ruff!* spikes" Chase barked. Seconds later spikes popped out from the bottom of his shoes. "This is useful." Chase said.

They slowly and carefully dig out the snow. "Hello?" Chase called out.

"Please! Help me! There a cougar in here!" A male called out.

"Flash light!" Chase and Everest barked.

The spikes retracted at they stepped in. On the floor was a man with a bandage on his arm. "You idiot! That's why it's called a restricted AREA!" Everest instantly said. The guy didn't reply he just looked down in sadness.

From behind a rock a cougar walked out. It showed its teeth and sharp claws. Chase and Everest backed up closer to the wall. "Growl back at it, it won't risk getting hurt" Everest replied.

"Maybe if we howl it'll think we're wolves." Chase sarcastically replied.

"Sir, can you walk?" Chase asked.

The man slowly got up.

"Well then, I don't think there is much to worry about anymore. I doubt it co-

In seconds the Cougar was on top of Everest. Chase bit what he could and that was the tail. The cougar turned around and they started to do a circling motion. The hiker kicked towards the ground before he started stomping on its stomach. Chase and Everest latched onto it. They slowly reached the exit of the cave that was still blocked by snow.

The hiker ran it and drop clicked the cougar out. "Is everyone alright?" Chase asked.

They both nodded. "Let's find our way home." Everest said.

They were on the trail and this time for sure heading the right way. Everest learned a lot about Chase. She started to wonder if there was more. "Is there anything else you're hiding?" Everest asked.

"No, the pups probably do though." Chase replied.

"So... when you're sad or mad where do you go?" Everest asked.

"My thoughts." Chase blankly replied.

"Really? You don't talk to anyone? Not even Ryder?" Everest asked.

Chase sighed. "As much as I like Ryder he has a tendency to tell people things. I just vent to myself." Chase explained.

"That's not venting. You just talk to yourself and agree. You need another opinion..." Everest explained.

Chase didn't reply. He didn't think he needed another opinion. Something told him to think about it more.

"I could be your seconds opinion." Everest nervously suggested.

Chase thought about it. He tried to rule out affection. Pros, Everest seems understandable and fun to hang out with. Cons, long drive and the pups would start assuming things.

"If I came up here a lot the others would jump to conclusions, I don't want that happening." Chase objected.

"We can talk about this later." Everest said. She didn't like the fact that a random law breaker was listening in on them.

They knocked on jakes cabin. "Oh, you found him." Jake said. "I have an ambulance coming up, also you're banned from here." Jake added.

The hiker just nodded.

"You two! Good job. Come inside." Jake said.

Chase and Everest ran inside and they instantly felt at home. "This is so much better than out there." Chas sighed.

"I'm gonna go sort everything out with the hiker you two can relax." Jake said as he walked back out.

"Guess we should take these off." Chase said as he took off his vest, helmet, and boots. Everest followed.

"That was quite the adventure." Everest said as she inches closer to Chase. Chase didn't think much of it. Until Everest swept out his feet from under him and stood over him. "Oh... this is nice." Chase said.

"Remember when you said you didn't want the pups jumping to conclusions?" Everest asked.

Chase nodded.

"How about we make those conclusions true" Everest slowly leaned in and Chase did the same. Sure Everest was blinded by her first love interest it she didn't care. She wasn't considered the most careless pup for a reason.

The door opened. "What the!" Rocky yelled. They ignored him and finished the kiss.

I'm probably going to regret uploading this. Fuck it. Sorry for the language but anyways. You may or may not see this in a future story. It isn't as long as my other one shots which I'm sorry for. This was just a quick I idea I decided to right down.
