A Quiet Evening
Corneria City was a beautiful place. With its fantastic skyscrapers, scenic landmarks and beautiful parks, and myriad blends of Lylat culture, it was considered by many to be the jewel of the Lylat System. It was said by some however that the most beautiful place in the city was less a specific place but more a series of places at a specific time; the time the city really came alive, according to these residents, was during the night, at its main streets and popular parks. The city became a sea of neon lights and music, smells, starlight, and people out for a good time.
Walking along one of the city's main streets at that time was Fox, with Krystal hanging on his arm as they walked through the cityscape, smiling and talking.
It was their first night together, as a couple.
When Fox asked Krystal what she wanted on their first night out, Fox's mind was a flurry of ideas. Being in the security of a relationship with this vixen—a vixen who everyday seemed to prove more and more that she was the vixen of his dreams—made him think their first night out together had to be something big. Something explosive, glamorous, spectacular. So he was surprised when Krystal just told him that she wanted a quiet evening out with him on the town. Nothing needed to be fancy. His presence was enough.
So here they were, walking through town arm in arm. Fox felt lighter than air.
She wore a dress, a shimmering dark blue number that did her form justice. If her goal was to draw his eyes to her curves, she was winning and then some. Over it she wore a blazer for the slight cold, also very elegant. He wore a nice shirt, sport coat, and slacks. Fox remembered how much his chest puffed out when Krystal—while blushing—said he looked quite dashing.
As they walked, they talked. Krystal asked about his memories of the city when he was younger. What did he, Slippy, and Falco do when they were out on the town in their teens? What was it like to grow up near such a large city? Was this shop there, this place here, when he was younger? Fox answered them all. Krystal's curiosity was one of her most endearing traits. She was a sponge for new places.
Every time she looked at him, her eyes would catch the city lights and the stars, and mix with their beautiful teal hue. His heart skipped a beat at every glance.
Krystal was also being a bit devious. She clutched his arm close…just close enough that his arm brushed up against her chest. There were some curves she had that Fox was weaker too than most. Fox just smiled inwardly. This vixen had his number.
Their destination this evening was a fine restaurant, that Krystal always mentioned wanting to try when they passed it. When they arrived, Krystal gawked, and mentioned she didn't think they would go somewhere this fancy.
Fox just winked at her.
They were seated, they ordered, and they talked some more. While they talked Fox noticed something curious. When Krystal would sit quietly and listen, she would lean against a paw, staring at him, giving him her full attention, her tail swaying behind her. Her eyes had a dreamy quality to them. It occurred to Fox that she was looking at him the same way he often looked at her; marveling her, being in awe of his luck to be so close to her. She was giving him that look now, and Fox remembered those moments in the restaurant ever afterword, as a moment he became aware how mutual what they had was.
The dinner was delicious. It was everything Krystal wanted, and her satisfaction was everything Fox could want.
After dinner, they walked by the sea.
Corneria had a beautiful waterfront park that was frequented by couples, more so at night. They basked in each other's presence was they strolled around, hearing the soothing sounds of water close by.
They did not speak much. Fox wondered about this. Then he saw the way she leaned on him, the peaceful look on her face, and felt her tail brushing up against his.
Words weren't needed. So he stayed quiet too, as they walked through the park than night.
They arrived home in similar comfortable silence. When they got to the door, Krystal turned and kissed him.
"I had a wonderful night, love," she said.
Fox held her close.
"I did to," he said.
