Midnight's Angel (Part-1)

May 13th, X524 (0:15 AM)

SouthHill mountain, in the Southern region of Fairy Tail Kingdom

It was midnight, the surrounding was all silent, and the night sky was very beautiful with its own scenery of black and midnight blue, which was a perfect background for the moon. The moon glowing white in its glory, wasn't alone, as stars were twinkling around it. Standing at the cliff alone was a young woman in her early twenties. Her long silvery hair was tied by a blue ribbon. Her white feathery dress was attached by light blue fabrics, and her feathered skirting was down to her knee. Her name was Angel, the celestial mage of Oracion Seis dark guild.

What was she doing here alone? Because the peaceful nighttime was her favorite time... When she was young, she used to watch the starry sky with her mother. Angel always loved the sky, the shining moon, and the thousands of sprinkling stars.

Staring at the stars, she raised her hand to reach up the sky, "Mother, Yuki-chan! I miss you. Do you miss me too?" she murmured, "A few more hours, then I can finally get revenge... for you."

That day.. she remembered it very well... the day when her family left her alone in this world.

[Flashback, seventeen years ago]

It was early at night. Her village, the Celestial Village, which was in the Sabertooth Kingdom, was holding a traditional full moon ceremony, the sky was very peaceful with the circular white moon and the twinkling stars. She still remembered.. five-year-old young Sorano Aguria, who was her younger self, playing with other children, and her mother Hannah was holding her one-year-old sister Yukino while smiling at her. She remembered how all of the villagers were happy, but their happiness didn't last even an hour... the village was suddenly attacked by a dark guild.

Everything was in chaos... several houses were on fire and the villagers were killed by the evil masked men. The village mayor ordered the guards to defend against the evil forces. Mages from the Sacred Celestial Clan, the clan which had been protecting the village for several generations, joined forces with their comrades. However, both because of not having enough time to prepare for defense, and because the enemies were too powerful, the mighty Celestial heroes sacrificed their life while trying their best.

She still couldn't forget how she felt at that time. She was scared.. that she was also killed by those invaders. She feared for her safety, her mother's, and her sister's. Her mom was also from the Celestial clan, so she knew her mom was somewhere in the village fighting the foes. She searched for her mother while crying.

Then she met her mother who was carrying her younger sister... under an oak tree. The little her hugged her mother... begging her to go with her together. But the woman objected... telling her to stay alive and that she loved her after handing three zodiac keys to her. Her mother, still carrying her sister, ran to the opposite direction.. to the village shrine.. to protect the Clan Leader Layla Heartfilia and the Clan Heir Lucy Heartfilia.

If she knew it was her last time seeing her family, she would've stopped her mother from not leaving her.. she shouldn't run away like a coward.

0:30 AM

"Couldn't sleep?" That question brought her thoughts from the past to reality. She turned around to see the black-haired guy smiling at her. He was her friend... named Macbeth Midnight, or Midnight for short name. He was the only son of Oracion Seis guild master, and he was five months younger than her.

When she met them on the day after she fled from her village, they saved her from the danger of being eaten by hungry foxes. Master offered her a chance to get revenge, telling her that he would take her as his disciple. She joined Oracion Seis, only for the reason to kill Lucy Heartfilia and the unknown dark guild which destroyed her village.

"I knew you're here, Angel." Midnight stood beside her.

She looked at her friend who was like her brother figure. He had short spiky black hair on the top, and longer and straight white hair at the bottom. His outfit was a white suit, donned by a black vest, beneath a white fur-trimmed brown coat. Who would believe her if she said the successor of the most powerful dark guild was very stylish... and also he was very considerate of his comrades.

"Haha. I'm appreciating nature. Look, we can see the forest down there, and the beautiful starry sky," she said, pointing at the forest and then the sky.

"It's already midnight, Angel. I only see the dark tree. Besides, there are only a few stars right there. I can even count.. One.. Two.. Oops." She slapped his arm lightly.

"Because I like midnight, it's always peaceful," She replied with a fake glare.

"No need to say it out loud, Angel. I know you like me."

"Macbeth Midnight, can't you be serious for a moment? Your jokes are boring."

"Haha, are you blushing? You're lucky 'cause I can't see clearly. Little Angel is blush- HEY! Stop Angel... I don't want to run now." But he started running two seconds ago as Angel chased after him. "You're 22-year-old but you still want to play run and chase?" He shouted childishly.

"You started it, Midnight."

"I feel tired suddenly. Don't forget that tomorrow is an important day."

"No excuses, Midnight. Running is the best exercise. Haha."

He ran faster while she chased him at a close distance behind him. 'At least, you won't be stressed for now, Angel.' he smiled.

11:45 AM

"I'll come with you." Midnight told her before they parted for their mission... To fight their enemies, Fairy Tail team. Oracion Seis was well-prepared, all of their elite members were strong. Knowing all the information about the Fairy Tail gang was an opportunity to their victory.

Angel smiled, realizing why he insisted to battle together. Because he knew the situation she was in... She was one of the golden key holders, possessing three zodiac keys; Aries The Ram, Gemini The Twins, and Scorpio The Scorpion, and two silver keys. She could summon two spirits at once. However, Gemini was unable to battle since he was defeated by a white-haired ice mage and a pinkette two hours ago, "No, I'll face Lucy Heartfilia alone."

"What if she brings her guards? Don't forget that she is The Princess Consort of Laxus Dreyar. They won't let her fight alone."

"Don't worry. She knew what to do, it's a fight between two celestial spirit mages. It's our pride," Angel answered quickly, "Luck is on our side. Lucy Heartfilia doesn't hold much influence in Fairy Tail.. No one will protect her."

"What if she doesn't fight fair and square? What if she-"

"Don't worry, Midnight. Celestial spirit magic isn't my only magic."

He nodded, "I've faith in you, Angel."

"Good luck in your battle, Midnight. See you later." She replied with a smile, before walking away.

Lucy Heartfilia... the remaining heiress of the Celestial Clan.. who survived the attack seventeen years ago and was adopted by her aunt, Sabertooth Queen Anna Eucliffe... started a new life as Princess Lucelia Eucliffe, living peacefully in Sabertooth Palace... with no clue about what had happened to the celestial village. Then two months ago, she came to Fairy Tail to marry the eldest Prince, thus finally coming out of the den that she had been hiding for the past seventeen years.

It was unfair for the fallen heroes who died in that battle... and the remaining villagers who had lost their families or friends.

Lucy Heartfilia... the one who caused the chaos of her village, since the dark guild was after her.

Lucy Heartfilia... her sworn enemy.

12:45 PM

DeepTree forest... was located outside the IceFlask city, and surrounded by the mountains. The path also led to the SouthHill mountain ranges and MistyHill Valley. Near the entrance of the forest, Angel was waiting for her enemies. Of course, she was anxious about her life-or-death battle, still feeling worried despite her strength. Soon, she saw five mages from Fairy Tail come into her sight.

A red-haired girl with a high ponytail, wearing a purple knee-length dress... seemed like their leader... whom she assumed was the strongest female warrior of Magnolia, Titania... or Erza Scarlet.

The girl standing behind Erza Scarlet was wearing a blue long dress and blue boots, and a blue hat... Her blue hair was long and wavy style... She guessed that this bluenette was Lucy Heartfilia's best friend.. the water mage.

Another girl with straight dark-purple hair was holding a long sword... Her outfit was a dark blue battlesuit with a dark skirt.. and dark boots.

The only guy in the group had short spiky black hair... He was also wearing a uniform, which was a white suit, and white pants... whom she assumed was Gray Fullbuster, the ice mage. and two cats were standing beside him.

All of them looked younger than her.

The last one was the blond girl with long hair... whose outfit was a pink dress. She knew it was Lucy Heartfilia... the most hateful person in the world... the spitting image of the previous Celestial Clan Leader Layla... Angel saw her standing behind the sword girl who crossed her sheathed sword...

"Everyone please back off," the blonde requested calmly.

"Lu! No!" the blue-haired girl objected.

"Lucelia-sama! It's dangerous!", the black-haired guy said.

"Lu-chan, please follow Erza-san's plan!", the sword girl gave advice.

"I promised to Laxus that I won't let you fight alone," the red-haired leader commented.

Looking at the group, she couldn't help but let out a mocking laugh.

"Back off. This is my order," Lucy Heartfilia raised her voice, "I can't say I'm not stronger than you all. But I've to fight this battle." She said as she walked towards the front of her team then she turned around, "Leave this matter to me and head forward. Our goal is to save Wendy, not to protect me. Sparky, you follow Erza-san, too," Her right hand rested on her chest as she swore, "I promise that I'll win... a celestial spirit mage never breaks her promise."

[A/N - Sparky is Laxus's yellow exceed.]

Angel smirked, not caring about the blonde's long speech. Everything went according to their plan. Five days ago, her guildmate, Cobra, kidnapped the young Princess Wendy Dreyar, and lured the Fairy Tail group here. DeepTree Forest, and SouthHill mountain ranges were their death graves. She knew Lucy Heartfilia would accept her challenge.

"Titania, what will we do?" It was the black-haired mage's question to his leader.

"We'll go forward." The red-haired leader replied.

"Don't worry Juvia." The blonde said told the bluenette.

Angel saw the group leaving them alone, she gave the blonde a frowning smile, "I don't believe that you're brave and strong." She hated that Lucy Heartfilia acted like she was strong.

"I'm not. I'm relying on my luck," her enemy said calmly.

"Luck, your stupid luck," she couldn't control her anger... because of one word, "You survived seventeen years ago because of your damn luck. Let's see if you can escape this time... I'll defeat you and watch you suffer little by little until you die."

"What do you mean.. 'seventeen years ago'?" The blonde asked back with a confused expression.

"I knew it. Your aunt didn't tell you right?" she said painfully, remembering the screams of the celestial villagers, and her mother's last words that echoed in her mind. "Lucy Heartfilia, you destroyed my family. My mother and my younger sister died because of you. Do you know that? How could you live peacefully for seventeen years? HOW COULD YOU?" She shouted angrily.

Five seconds of silence seemed very slow... "Seventeen years ago... I was one year old at that time. I was adopted by my aunt because my parents died. I don't know what you are talking about." Lucy Heartfilia denied it.

"STOP GIVING EXCUSES," she shouted in anger. 'Angel, why are you explaining to her? Why are you expecting her apologies? She will deny everything. Stop wasting your time, just kill her.'

She took out one golden key from her pocket. The top of the bow of that key was sculpted into a ram's head with horns that sprouted outside. The center of the bow was a white heart stamped with the ram-shaped pink crest. The blade of the key was like a ram's curled horns with a hood-shaped bottom. "ARIES, COME OUT!" She shouted.

Soon, her ram spirit Aries, wearing a white fluffy wool dress, appeared in front of her. Aries' short pink hair was curled at the ends, with pale skin and a pair of twisted horns on her head. "I'm sorry!" the shy spirit whispered.

"Attack her," Angel demanded her spirit. The pink-haired spirit extended her hands forward, casting a spell, "100 percent Fluffy Fluffy Wool!"

Angel saw a thick flurry wool pool appear around Lucy Heartfilia and blocked the latter's vision. She waited for a moment, carefully being cautious for her opponent's counter-attack. A few seconds later, she noticed that the ground in front of the wool pool started vibrating.. and split to form a hole on the ground. Soon, she saw the blonde and an unfamiliar girl wearing a maid dress, coming out of the underground and landing on the ground void of the wool magic.

'So, she's Virgo... the maiden.' Angel thought. From the information that she had gathered months ago, Lucy Heartfilia owned three zodiac keys. One of the rules of the Celestial Spirit world was that the celestial spirit mage shouldn't leak their magic information to strangers. Thus, she didn't know which keys Lucy Heartfilia owned, and vice versa.

Angel saw Virgo jump high while extending her chains. The maid spirit landed beside Aries and then swayed her chains to attack the latter who could barely dodge the attack. Virgo punched Aries.. and the combat continued. Angel knew that her ram spirit's non-combative nature would bring her to a disadvantage side. "Why're you so useless?" she shouted with disappointment. 'No, I can't lose! I don't expect that Lucy Heartfilia's spirit is very strong.'

Then she got an idea. She summoned Caelum, the silver celestial spirit. Its shape was like a metal sphere with a halo-like circle on its top. The center of its body was darker in color. She looked at her ram friend, who was fighting close to the maid spirit. She sighed, the longer the battle, the more disadvantageous for her.

"Shoot towards them!" Angel commanded, Caelum did as she ordered, sending a blast that hit through Aries and then hit Virgo. She saw her Aries fading away returning to the celestial spirit world. She stared at the empty spot, 'I'm sorry, Aries. Please understand me.'

"Why?" she heard the blonde's weak voice asking her. "Why did you hurt her? She is your spirit."

'So annoying.' Angel thought, after hearing the blonde lecturing her.

"She is my spirit. So I can do whatever I like. It's none of your business." She replied exaggeratedly. Deep inside, she was hurt...and guilty... She really loved her spirits... they were like her family... but, not this time... Not when she would lose everything if she lost this battle.

"But she is your spirit.. your friend. She can talk, she obeys you, she has feelings and she can feel pain.. like a human."

"Don't teach me. It's so annoying," she took another golden key from her pocket, and summoned the zodiac spirit, "Scorpio!" Her loyal spirit, the lean-built, dark-skinned man appeared from the blue magic circle. He was wearing a flower-shaped red collar, the red clothing wrapped around his waist and kept by a large black belt, and a pair of black shorts. The spirit's tail was a large gun that was shaped like a scorpion tail.

Angel looked at her opponent who closed the maid spirit's gate. "Open the gate of the Lion! Leo!" The blonde's loud chanting echoed the surrounding. The giant orange lion appeared in front of Lucy Heartfilia. The lion roared loudly.

Her Scorpion spirit got down on his four limbs and pointed his scorpion-like stinger at the lion, before firing a powerful sand tornado. The lion counterattacked with a powerful light beam. The sand tornado and light beam moved forwards and strike each other in midway, causing a huge explosion. The area around them was covered with sand and dust.

Because her full attention was all on the celestial spirits' battle, she failed to notice the blonde who swayed it upward to land on one of the branches of a nearby tree. It was when her enemy landed on her metal spirit, she was alarmed. Caelum was stomped and kicked.. then sent away quickly by Lucy Heartfilia, within a blink. She didn't have time to react. 'No Caelum!' Worry for her silver spirit occupied her mind.. and also... anger.

Angrily, Angel punched the blonde who could catch her fist cautiously. Then Lucy Heartfilia kicked her. She dodged to the side skillfully before spinning back and kicking hard to hit the blonde's back causing her to fall.

"A little princess wants to fight me huh?" She laughed, "Seriously, you're overestimating yourself." Being an elite member of Oracion Seis, she was an expert in hand-on-hand combat.

"Really?" Angel heard a question from her sworn enemy whose voice was filled with amusement, "I don't think I'm losing. Turn around and see what is happening." Lucy Heartfilia smirked.

Then.. she felt a presence from behind, she turned around quickly just to see the orange lion running towards her. She dodged to the left quickly, not having time to decide what to do next. The lion spirit stopped in front of his master, "Good job, Leo." She heard the blonde's honey-coated voice. Lucy Heartfilia looked at her in victory, "Stop. You can't defeat me, Angel. Release your spirits if you don't care about them."

"Hahahaha," She laughed heartbrokenly, "Lucy Heartfilia.. Do you know how many years I spent training to defeat you? 17 years... every single day.." Her heart ached, after all these years of training, she was still a useless person. "You don't know my pain. Celestial spirit magic and my keys are the only things that were left by my mother. I love my magic and my spirits. At the same, I hate my magic... I hate myself... Do you know why? Because no matter how hard I trained, I'm still inferior to you, I can't defeat the descendant of the Scared Celestial Clan. My priority is my revenge, not to care about my spirits' feelings, not to follow the spirit world's rules." She complained.

"That is why," Her expression darkened, "I learned forbidden Angel magic a month ago!" She held her hands near her chest... and a second later, a bright golden light radiated from her hand. She raised her right hand, ten golden coins floating above her palm. She threw the coins in the air, "O angel that plays the sound of the end times, Raguel! I summon thee!" She chanted. 'I have no choice. This is the only way.'

A giant white creature appeared beside her. Raguel was a white angel that had two giant pairs of wings, and four long, four-fingered arms. His legs were similar to the legs of a hooved animal. The angel had one large eel-like tail and two small fin-like thin tails on either side and two wing tattoos on its collarbone. It had many heads; five in front, two in back, each holding a horn with an arm of its own. It was the first time she summoned the angels.

"What the heck is that?" Angel heard the lion's question, which was obviously said in a disgusting tone.

"I chip away my own life when I summon angels," Angel said as she put her hand on one leg of the angel, patting him.

"You're insane," Lucy Heartfilia shouted.

"For revenge, my life is worth to be sacrificed," she replied without hesitation. "You should stop worrying for me, Lucy Heartfilia," a smirk crept on her soft lips, "because your life is in chaos now."

The giant angel started playing a melody that was kind of dull and creepy, spreading to the surrounding... Angel hated that awful melody very much, but it still helped her since the blonde held her head due to a headache.

"LEO!" Angel heard Lucy Heartfilia's shout which was full of anxiety for the lion spirit who was frozen in his spot. "LEO. are you okay?" She saw the girl trying to stand up. 'Lucy Heartfilia.. she is impressive, although I don't want to admit it. She can summon the leader of twelve zodiacs for so long.'

"See. You're helpless now." Angel smirked, then she ordered her angel to keep playing the sound. She walked towards her enemy who was kneeling. She stood in front of her, "This is your end, Lucy Heartfilia. Tell me your choice, will you give up your keys or not?"

"I'll never give you my keys. Besides, I knew you can't kill me right now." The blonde retorted quickly despite her being in pain.

She laughed before kicking Lucy Heartfilia, causing her to fall, "How smart of you. I can't kill you right now." Because Oracion Seis would hold a sacrifice ceremony to revive the legendary black wizard. To revive him, a sky magic practitioner and a celestial spirit mage's blood were needed. And Lucy Heartfilia was aware of that point, too.

"However, don't forget that I can torture you," Angel held the weakened blonde up then slapped her, "Do you think I want your keys? Hell no. I want to let you suffer from the loss of something you loved. I want to watch you give up your precious keys, and then you'll be killed two days in the ceremony." She lifted the blonde's head while smirking, "If you surrender your keys, I'll let you live peacefully for two days. If not, I'm not sure what will happen."

"You're crazy," Lucy Heartfilia said calmly, as she shook her head to free herself from the grip,"I said I won't give up my keys," the blond girl stood up.

Angel pushed the blonde roughly before holding her whip. She swayed it, the leather rope was quickly replaced by the fire. Before she could hit the blonde, the whip was caught by someone. Being surprised, she looked behind to see a stranger with orange spiky hair, wearing a black suit and sunglasses, "WHO ARE YOU? Are you also a spirit?" She asked in disbelief because she knew that only the celestial spirits couldn't be harmed by the celestial whips. 'Leo the lion gained his human form?'

Without hesitation, she circled her whip to hit the stranger. He avoided her attack and caught the rope before pulling it with force. As a result, she couldn't keep the grip and thus had to release the handle. The guy approached the blonde and helped her to stand up.

"Leo?" Lucy Heartfilia asked.

"Yep, Sorry I'm late, Lucy," was the orange-haired guy's answer. Then he glared dangerously at her. "Stay calm and focused, Princess. I still have unfinished business here," he talked to Lucy Heartfilia.

Angel could sense the zodiac leader's anger, she was irritated by him. She glared at him back, not showing her emotion to her opponents.

The lion spirit bent his right arm, with the clenched fist pointed towards the sky, before chanting his spell, "O Regulus... Grant me your strength!" He ran forward to attack the white angel.

"You can't defeat him," Angel said, it was ridiculous to see the zodiac leader fighting her angel without being able to harm the angel being. It took another second for her to realize that the lion intended to free his master from the angel's melody, but it was too late. Lucy Heartfilia stood up to face her.

Angel clenched her fist, after seeing that Raguel was hit repeatedly by the lion spirit whose attacks were empowered by the bright light, "WHAT!" she shouted. "Don't forget that Leo is the leader of twelve Zodiac spirits," Lucy Heartfilia replied.

The next moment, Angel was kicked hard by her enemy, and was sent towards a nearby tree by force, as a result, she was hit by the tree. The blonde celestial spirit mage stood in front of her, demanding her to admit the defeat.

'Never,' Angel reminded herself, 'Never show your weakness to your enemy. Never give up.' "Destroy them, Raguel." She ordered, hoping that the white creature would find a way to defeat Lucy Heartfilia and Leo the lion.

The angel exploded into a formless blob... Everything was absorbed by the blob, including her opponents and unfortunately even her. Somehow, the younger girl reached to her, her arms were gripped firmly. "What did you do?"

"To die together, of course," She laughed, "The death trap is Raguel's final form. You can't escape from it." She only heard about Raguel's death trap, not knowing how dangerous it was.

"Are you kidding me? You will die too." She looked at the anxious Lucy Heartfilia. Angel's arms were grabbed firmly by the blonde.

"I have no regret. After all, I got what I want."

"Revenge? Did revenge mean everything to you?" She heard the blond's shout. She relaxed her mind, not trying to resist the liquid-like substance engulfing her leg and her back. At this rate, all of them will be sunk by the liquid blob and then they will die. That was why Lucy Heartfilia was persuading her.

"My family died because of you. The villagers died because of you," she replied weakly.

"It's the past. I just heard about this from you," the blonde said quickly, "I was one year old at that time, but I can't say that I don't have any responsibility for their death. I feel guilty. I'm sorry... But we're talking about our present.. the moment right now. Do you want to die like that? Remember your mother's words. What did she tell you? DO YOU REALLY WANT TO DIE NOW?"

At that moment, she could only stare at her sworn enemy with widened eyes. "My mom" she whispered...'Live well, Sorano. I love you, dear.' Her mother's words echoed in her mind.

"I don't want to die now," Lucy Heartfilia spoke, "and I don't want you to die too."

'Death? Is it what I want?' She asked herself, 'No, I don't want to die. I still have things to do. Even if I lost this battle, Master will kill Lucy Heartfilia for sure.' Her thoughts were interrupted by the blond celestial spirit who was trying to pull her out of the blob... the blond still could move her arms.. only her legs were engulfed by the blob. "It is your angel. Think a way to control it."

"No, I can't. I really can't control it," She replied with a slight annoyance and a slight panic.

"If it continues, it will absorb the whole forest and mountain. Both my friends and your friends will die. Do something."

'Angel creatures don't have such enormous power. Why is Raguel so powerful? I've to find a way to stop Raguel.'

Then the next moment, she saw a bright light that embraced both her and Lucy Heartfilia. The bright light spreading to a wide radius eradicated the viscous substance. It was Leo the lion... he destroyed the angel completely.

"AHH!" She shouted painfully, feeling the sharp tearing pain torturing her whole body. She lay on the ground. The pain was so intense... It was the cost of summoning an angel.

"Is it what you want, Angel?" Again, she was held by the blonde... and she didn't have the strength to fight back. "Tell me how to take your lifespan back." The blonde demanded her. 'Why is she trying to save me? I'm her enemy.' Her eyes were about to close as the unconsciousness tried to take over her.

"Move quickly!" Then she heard a familiar voice, which belonged to Dan, one of her guildmates. She didn't know why Dan came here, "Hurry up!" he shouted at Lucy Heartfilia. Three seconds felt like three thousand seconds, then her chest was pierced by a sharp edge.

"Don't worry. I shrunk the core of Angel's angel magic as small as possible. It will restore the life force used by her magic earlier." She heard Dan's explanation. The pain caused by her angel magic was gradually relieved, as she felt better than earlier. She slowly stood up before looking at her two friends.

Dan... was a slim, young man with short crimson-colored hair, wearing metallic armor and boots.

Flare Corona, or codename Flame... was a member of her Team Angel, a pale-skinned young woman, wearing an extremely revealing crimson dress, and her long hair was styled into two massive braids...

"Flame, Dan, I lost the battle," Angel whispered sadly.

"It's okay Angel. You've tried your best," Flame hugged her, "Angel, Master ordered you to return to the base." She nodded before opening a celestial gate and stepping into it... A second later, the gate closed.
