"You want to scan Najarin!" Aivenna said. She couldn't believe what Rick was asking of her. Najarin never allows anyone to scan him and he has made this fact clear to every Chaotic player who has tried to scan him. The ones who try to scan Najarin without him knowing are always caught and Najarin isn't very gentle with them.
Aivenna actually witnessed a human try to scan Najarin and it didn't end well for her. The human was a female and was about Rick's age at the time. Najarin, Aivenna and some other Overworlders were in the Forest of Life because of strange creature sighting recently reported. They were investigating the reports to see if the unknown creator was real and if so then they would also need to find out if the creature was foe or friend.
The Chaotic player might have already known they would be there or maybe she stumbled upon them by accident. That information didn't matter to Najarin when the player tried to scan him while she hide behind a large tree and he decided to teach her a lesson on manners. The human quickly transported away after Najarin had levitated her body around like some toy. It was very amusing to watch, and all the Overworlders had a good laugh about it.
Najarin still hates being scanned as much when that incident in the Forest of Life happened Solans ago. There is no way Aivenna can convince Najarin to let Rick scan him.
"Not so loud. People are staring." Rick pointed out.
To Aivenna's embarrassment, creatures standing around were staring at them.
Aivenna leads Rick to a back alley where no creatures will notice them talking.
Only after making sure no one was around, did Aivenna felt safe to talk.
She looked Rick straight in the eyes and with a very serious face she said, "Pick a different creature, or thing, or place to scan."
"Our deal was that I could pick whatever I wanted to scan, and you would help me get it!" Rick said angrily.
"I remember the stupid deal Rick, but it's beyond my ability to convince Najarin to let you scan him." She explained. "Najarin never lets any human scan him, and he won't change his mind about being scanned just because someone he knows asks him to let a random human scan him. It just won't happen."
"Well Major Tom got to scan Najarin." Rick pointed out. He sounded like a whiny brat to Aivenna.
"I've heard of what Tom Majors had to do for Najarin to think him worthy enough to scan him, and there is no chance in Perim that you can accomplish something just as worthy to allow Najarin to scan you." Aivenna said. She was angry at Rick for not listing to reason.
Rick let out a huff then said, "Well then just hide me somewhere then get Najarin to come by and I can scan him without him ever knowing."
"That won't work either."
"Well why the hell not?"
"Because he can sense when someone else is around." Aivenna answered. Najarin's ability to sense anyone around was the reason he knew that other Chaotic player was trying to scan him in the Forest of Life. There's also been many other instances that Aivenna has witnessed where Najarin somehow just knew that someone else was there without anyone else noticing. "Now pick something else."
"No. Either help me get a scan of Najarin or you can just kiss your sister's journal goodbye."
Aivenna knew there was no point in arguing with Rick. He's made it clear that he isn't going to be happy with anything else besides scanning Najarin.
Rick has his arms crossed and waiting for an answer.
She's come too far to just give up on getting Nivenna's journal, but now it seems impossible to get. She needed to think of something.
She knows where Najarin is at since she has to go meet him and she could bring him inside the castle since her rank in the military is high enough. The guards wouldn't even question her about a human following her, but she can't just bring Rick along for the meeting.
Najarin isn't going to let Rick scan him, so Rick must do it in secret. But Aivenna can't think of a way of getting around Najarin's sensing abilities. Maybe if there was something to distract Najarin then Rick could quickly scan him.
Thinking it through, Aivenna came up with a plan.
Note: This story needs to be finished. It's been four years since the first chapter was posted and there isn't much left that needs to be written. I'll try to write the last few chapters by the end of the month. There's four more chapters left and they're all planned out. I just have to stop putting them off and write them.
