Special Containment Procedures: Two atmospheric monitors modified to observe radiation in the upper atmosphere are to be active at all times and stationed in Southern Florida. These stations are to be manned by at least one trained staff member at all times. Any spikes in radiational levels of at least one standard deviation are to be reported to Site ██ Command.
The effects of SCP-8546 on civilian populations within the area of effect are minimal. Misinformation efforts are to be enacted in order to explain any potential effects. This is being closely monitored to ensure that effects do not become more severe.
Any entities that emerge from the area currently being affected by SCP-8546 are to be captured by Lambda-12. Conventional weaponry is moderately effective, and Lamba-12 should be outfitted with modified electrical and fire-based weaponry. Electrical and Fire-based attacks have proven to be effective when combatting entities which emerge within the area being affected by SCP-8546.
Individual entities that are captured by Lambda-12 are to be processed and contained with individually adequate containment procedures.
SCP-8546-1 is to be contained at all times within a standard containment procedure. Two guards armed with Mk3 Electric Capture Nets are to be posted outside the containment chamber at all times. Any personnel entering the containment chamber must be accompanied by at least two properly armed guards. Due to past behavior, these containment procedures may be alleviated with future cooperation. For more information regarding this, speak to the researchers assigned to SCP-8546.
Description: SCP-8546 is an ongoing phenomenon present in the atmosphere in Southern Florida and over the Florida Straits. SCP-8546 consists of an as of yet unidentified form of radiation which fluctuates in intensity. It is currently theorized that a dimensional rift was formed over this region and the radiation is either a byproduct or waste product from it. This rift has yet to be located by the Foundation.
The radiation causes burns in high concentrations. Such concentrations do not occur naturally from the rift. Instead, certain entities have utilized it as a form of attack. The process by which this energy was concentrated and held together while being utilized as a weapon is currently unknown. Exposure to any amount of the radiation
The most disruptive effect of SCP-8546 is the transportation of sentient entities from an alternate reality. These entities are insectoid in nature and vary in shape and size significantly. To date, only one entity has been successfully contained by the Foundation. Methods which would increase the capture rate of these entities are currently being devised.
Encounters with entities that originated from this alternative reality have resulted in at least ██ casualties, ██ of which have been fatal. For a full list of entities that have emerged, see Addendum 8546-1.

SCP-8546-1: SCP-8546-1 was an insectoid entity that materialized in ███ on ██████ inside a privately owned barn. The entity performed meditative actions and, when disturbed, reacted violently to human interaction. ██ civilians were killed by the entity as a result of this behavior, including the owner of the property and responding police forces.
A dispatch team was sent to the location and attempted to capture the entity. The ensuing fight resulting in ██ casualties, of which ██ were fatal. The entity was inadvertently neutralized during the engagement. The surviving members of the dispatch team were reprimanded for their failure to contain the entity, but administrative punishment was not utilized. Upon neutralization, the entity dissolved into energy, identified as being the same energy that radiates from SCP-8546.

Items recovered from the scene included: two shields composed of an unknown material, debris from the engagement which have elevated 8546 radiation levels, and expended ammunition which passed through the entity and has elevated 8546 radiation levels. Also recovered from the scene included ten separate weapons which were summoned and used as weapons by SCP-8546-1. However, during transport to containment, all of the weapons dissolved into energy in a similar manner to SCP-8546-1 upon neutralization.
SCP-8546-2: SCP-8546-2 was an insectoid entity that materialized near Site ██ on ██████. The entity was believed to have been roaming rural areas and killing wildlife before coming into contact with Site ██.
Upon contact, the entity began an assault on the facility. The motivation behind the assault is still being determined. During the attack, ██ personnel were terminated and due to structural failures resulting from the attack, one SCP escaped containment. The attack by the entity was halted due to the actions of the newly formed MTF Alpha-9 which reinforced onsite security personnel and succeeded in neutralizing the entity.
Upon neutralization, the entity dissolved into energy, identified as being the same energy that radiates from SCP-8546. This energy still contaminates Site ██, however, due to the minimal effects caused by the concentration found and the high estimated cost to either scrub all radiation or relocate the facility, this has been deemed to be and acceptable risk. Staff will be monitored regularly to observe potential effects upon the population present.
The attack caused moderate damage to the primary entranceway and the Euclid wing of the facility. At the time of this document repairs are underway and, as a priority, are expected to be completed within two months and the site will return to normal functionality within one week. Due to a conflagration caused during the engagement, no items could be recovered from the entity.

SCP-8546-3: SCP-8546-3 is a sapient insectoid entity currently contained by the Foundation. The entity is primarily composed of an unknown and corrosive material. This material maintains properties of both a solid and a liquid. Tests are being performed to determine the composition of this material and to determine if its properties can be applied to other materials.
It is unknown when SCP-8546-3 materialized within baseline reality. SCP-8546-3 materialized within the Everglades and roamed the rural parts of South Florida for a period of at least ███ █. The entity responded with hostility to the MTF attempting to capture it. During the engagement the entity proved capable of wielding a bladed weapon, resulting in ██ casualties, of which ██ were fatal.
Within containment, sapience was determined during a test with D-Class personnel attempting to obtain samples of the material composing the entity. The entity demonstrated an ability to write in English. It is not currently believed to be capable of understanding other human languages. It is currently unknown how the entity developed an understanding of the English language.
The entity was granted privileges to roam the facility in which it is housed in exchange for participation in the newly formed MTF Alpha-9. While Alpha-9 was being organized, the facility came under assault by SCP-8546-2. The MTF was not given operational permission to engage SCP-8546-2, and as a result SCP-8546-3 violated the conditions of its agreement. Given the circumstance, punishment was lenient. However, the conditions to maintain privileges were revised, requiring its weapon to be kept in a locked box unless receiving direct permission or while actively working on an officially sanctioned mission.
Upon being presented the new conditions to maintain privileges, SCP-8546-3 refused to communicate and has not left its containment chamber. The entity has significantly reduced its activity and appears to have entered a dormant state in the center of its cell. The entity does not interact with food, D-Class personnel, audio communication from assigned researchers, or other stimuli placed into the containment chamber. Efforts to illicit a response from the entity have failed.

Hello Director Johanson,
It has been a while since we last spoke. I hope you've been well. It has to have been at least 8 years since I received my promotion, and while I certainly took to the job with vigor, I have to say that it has certain drawbacks. Among those I was forced by circumstance to cut off all communication that wasn't strictly professional with those outside my new circle.
You always had an indominable drive and ambition. You've always been willing to do whatever it takes to achieve your goals. It was what got you your job in the first place, no one could obstruct your trek to the peak of the mountain lest they be cut away like vines. I hold great respect for such character, it reminds me of myself. It was what swayed my judgement against the lessons of the past to vouch for your proposal. That, and I never forgot what you did in Guatemala for me all those years ago. I vested my credibility in you, in a way bound myself to your success. I thought it a wise investment.
So, imagine my shock when certain news filters its way to my ears. The newly proposed MTF was nearly complete but short a member to fill a key position. To quickly fix this, corners were allegedly cut, and a new SCP was allegedly exploited without due caution. And then allegedly it all came back to burn a secure Foundation site with dozens of personnel dead. Contrary to what some may believe, but despite being more distant now than before, I still have a great hatred of wasted life.
In all of this, there are several things that seem to be greatly inconsistent. To ensure that nothing is running amuck, I will be investigating the matter personally. If necessary, I will seize the reigns or dismantle recent projects. Don't get clipped, Icarus.
