Chapter Eight

She couldn't believe she agreed to go to Norway. She would be in that damn coffin for nearly fourteen hours. Eric had planned it so they would go right before sunup, that way by the time they arrived it would be sundown.

More factories have been hit and the American public was getting worried. Rioting was happening. Sookie was worried about her friends and Jason. He still wouldn't speak to her. She felt so vulnerable, and she was never scared to fly before. Hell, she had just gotten back from Italy, and she enjoyed the flight but there was something about being stored in a coffin that rubbed her the wrong way.

Plus, she was leaving her friends and family behind though the farther she got away from them the safer they were. She had gotten Bridgette to agree on a vacation in Italy. All expense paid trip to Eric's villa. It kept Jason safe while the world fell apart. She was sure that he put up a fight but at the end of the day, Bridgette would win.

Keith had taken Arlene and the kids somewhere safe overseas.

Jessica took Hoyt to parts unknown which of course was better for everyone, especially with Bill on the loose. She still couldn't believe that he had killed her. She began to wonder if there was any of the original Bill even left. As much as she wanted to hate him for killing her, she still felt sorry for him.

Then there was Eric. She had jumped headfirst into a relationship with him and now she was a vampire too. At least she didn't have to worry about him going all crazy for her fairy blood since it was gone anyway. She still mourned that part of herself.

There were officially two hours before they were to get on that flight. She was anxious as she packed her clothes.

"I can buy you all new clothes." Eric leaned in the doorway of her bedroom as she shoved things into a bag.

"I like my stuff." She felt sad about leaving her home again. The sound of a meow caught her attention, and she looked down at her legs as the small black furball purred against her. "We can't leave her behind."

"We're not bringing that nuisance on the plane." Eric sighed and she picked up little Bella and cuddled her.

"Don't you say bad things about my baby. I already lost one. I won't lose her too."

"It's a fourteen-hour flight." He walked over to her, and the cat hissed at him. He barred his fangs back and Bella buried her small head into Sookie's neck.

"Eric Northman put your fangs away. What are you like, ten years old." She rolled her eyes.

"I just don't understand your fascination with the scrawny little creatures." He went to touch the cat and it swatted at his hand and cut him. "That little…"

"Yeah well maybe if you were nicer to her then she wouldn't hate you so much." She kissed the top of Bella's head and put her down.

"Nicer? I saved her owner." He called at Bella as she walked out of the room.

"Eric, she has to come."

"Ok, fine. Let me make a call." He huffed and Sookie couldn't help but smirk. Big and powerful Eric Northman was setting up flight accommodations for a cat. It was priceless.

"They need to make sure there is a litter box." She called out as Eric could be heard talking on his phone down the hall.

She smiled softly and walked into her bathroom to grab the last bit of her things but the second she got in, she gasped.

"Hello, Sookie." Warlow grinned and before she could react, he was grabbing her as they both fell into the portal.

Eric felt the disconnect as soon as it happened. He dropped his phone in mid-conversation and ran back to the room. He got to the bathroom just in time to see the portal closing.

Sookie screamed as they went flying through the air. She was free-falling and the speed was like nothing she had ever felt before. She braced herself for impact but then she felt a strong pair of arms come around her. For a moment she thought it was Eric saving her but when she looked up she saw Warlow staring back. They landed on the ground, and she shoved her body off him.

"What the fuck, Warlow!"

"Now is that any way to talk to your soon-to-be husband." He grinned.

"No, you're dead. I watched it myself. You're not here. You can't be here." She backed up as she looked around. She was in some sort of fairy dimension but one she wasn't familiar with.

"Funny thing about death. Some of us just keep coming back." He smirked. "I see that everything went well with you and Lilith."

"You son of a bitch!" She yelled as she lunged for him with vampire speed, but he disappeared before she could grab him. Seconds later she was skidding to a halt as Warlow got in front of her.

"You can't possibly think you would be faster than me, sweetheart."

"Eww, don't call me that!" She stepped backward.

"Give it a few days. Someone new as yourself needs time to adjust."

"I would never adjust with you." She narrowed her eyes at him and then lunged at him. Once more he was gone but as she stopped, he grabbed her from behind in a tight embrace. She could barely move and that was saying something considering she was a vampire now.

"You say that now Sookie but we both know there is a connection between us." He whispered in her ear, and she cringed against him.

"I'm not even a fairy anymore, so don't even worry about some connection."

"Is that what you think, sweetheart? Our kind doesn't just go away that easily."

"Yeah, well I am one hundred percent sure that I am not a…" She began to say as she looked down at the ball of light radiating in her palm. Without thinking she twisted her hand and shot the light at him. He wasn't expecting it as he stumbled back. She yelled out as she shot one ball of light after another. He dodged them all expertly and then he was in front of her as he grabbed both hands. His grip was vice-like.

"You can't kill me like that Sookie so don't bother wasting your time."

She panted heavily as her body got incredibly fatigued. She hadn't used her fairy powers in so long. She forgot how exhausting it was. She began to stumble.

"Hey now. I got you." He steadied her with his hand.

"Don't touch me." She whispered with exhaustion. It was even worse than the last time she had used her power. "How?" She couldn't help but ask. Eric had bitten her, and he didn't sense her fairy powers, and neither had she.

"Oh Sookie, there is still so much you don't know about this world." He picked her up and she couldn't even fight against him.

"But Eric fed on me." She felt her body starting to shut down. She could barely keep her eyes open.

"The transition for our kind is much different. Things take time to acclimate themselves."

Her eyes began to close and soon she was asleep. Warlow looked down at her. He kissed her forehead. "Welcome home, Sookie."

Meanwhile, in New Orleans, six months had passed. Eric held a witch up against the wall. "Tell me where he is!"

"I don't know. I wasn't even close to him like that." The young guy whimpered.

"I doubt that. Everywhere Lafayette goes, world travels." Eric got close to him with fangs barred. "Where is he?"

"Ok, ok. Fine. I heard he is in Georgia. He has family there."

"See, now was that so hard." Eric smiled.

"So you're not going to kill me?" The guy's eyes got wide with relief.

"Oh, no I am definitely going to kill you." Eric grinned and then tore into his throat viciously. This was the way it was now. Kill or be killed.

. The world had gone to shit pretty quickly. Within days all the True Blood factories were in ruins. It didn't take long for panic to set in with the humans and the thirst for his kind.

The government was in the process of getting his kind kicked out of the country. Eric found it laughable. His kind had been in this world longer than any of those old useless men in government. His kind was going to have to take a stand. It was only a matter of time and then the world better look out.

"God damn it, Eric, really?" Pam walked into the bookstore and looked at the dying witch. "We're already walking on thin ice being here. If you haven't noticed, they aren't really welcoming us with open arms." Pam huffed.

"Good. They should be afraid of us. It's about time we take back what is ours." He stepped out of the shop and looked down the nearly empty street. Pam finished off the guy on the floor and then walked outside.

New Orleans was not like he remembered. Most of the supernatural folk had already taken off and that accounted for more than half the population. The rest that stayed kept themselves in the safety of their homes.

"Eric we should just stop and leave like everyone else." Pam had exhaustion written all over her.

"No. I know where he is now. He is going to bring her back." He stormed past her.

"Eric, please." She called out and he stopped walking. He turned and faced her. He looked broken and her heart sunk for him. "Fine. Whatever. Let's go save Sookie, again!"

Sookie awoke to a light breeze on her skin. She rolled over as her eyes began to open. Realization of what had happened jolted her upright. She looked down at her clothes. She had on a nearly see-through silk white gown. "What the hell?" She then looked around the unfamiliar bedroom. Behind her was a huge four-poster bed that she had been laying on, two large dressers, and a tv anchored in the wall. She could hear the sound of music coming from down the hall and she walked toward it. She felt like she was in a daze. Maybe she was dead, and this was heaven? The sound of old-school rock played as she continued to walk. The most delicious scent hit her nose and she actually salivated as she followed it.

She walked into the kitchen and then stopped as Warlow stood by the stove cooking. Music played loud and he moved slightly to the beat as he cooked eggs. Sookie looked for a weapon to hit him with. She saw a knife on the table.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Warlow spoke with his back turned but she grabbed the knife anyway. She threw it with incredible speed, but he was faster. He moved in front of her within seconds. She gasped as he pressed her back into the wall. "I could glamour you and make you do whatever I want."

Her eyes got wide as she looked at him. He was never able to glamour her before, but he seemed different. Did he come back even worse than before?

"But I won't do that. I want you to genuinely want me." He smiled softly.

"You will be waiting forever then." She spat at him. He backed up and wiped his face.

"You cared about me once, I know you did."

"Yeah, that was before I realized you were a murdering psycho piece of shit!" She yelled as she wrapped her arms around herself.

"You look beautiful Sookie."

"Go to hell!"

"I made you breakfast." He turned back to the stove as if nothing happened.

"I don't eat food." She snapped at him.

He turned with a plate in his hand full of eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, pancakes, and toast. "Of course, you can." He placed the plate on the table and then sat down. He began to eat off the plate. "Are you going to join me?"

"I can eat?" She was in shock as she looked at the food.

"Who said you couldn't?" He raised an eyebrow. "Just like you can walk in the sun and sleep in a bed. Oh, and you can dream."

"But the coffin. I…I." She mumbled as another realization hit. She had never actually tried to go outside and Eric told her they needed to sleep in the coffin.

"See, I knew you would get it sooner or later." He continued to eat.

"So, you think you are just going to continue where you left off?" She huffed.

"That is the plan, sweet cheeks."

"Don't ever fucking call me that!" She cringed as she watched him.

"Just eat, Sookie. You will feel better if you do."

"Fuck you. I ain't eating that shit. I know what you all do with your food!"

"It's real eggs and bacon. Sookie, just sit." He spoke softly as she stood there. "I said sit down." His voice commanded attention and before she could stop herself, she was sitting down in the chair.

Her eyes got wide. "You glamoured me."

"I didn't want to, but you need to eat, Sookie. We can't live on blood alone." His voice was quiet once more.

"I'm not hungry." She whispered and then he looked at her. "Fine. I'll eat damn it." She grabbed the fork and shoved a piece of hashbrowns into her mouth. The second it hit her tongue she moaned.

"I bet you are starving." He added and she quickly changed her demeanor.

"You need to let me go. I have friends and family back there."

"Trust me, you are lucky to be here. It's quite unpleasant there at the moment." He ate another piece of bacon.

"What do you mean? How long have I been here?" She began to panic. Last time she went to the fairy world she was gone for a year.

"Time doesn't move so fast here anymore. After the drop in our fae numbers, it took a lot of the power away from this place. These are dark times, Sookie."

"I want to go home." She could only imagine that Eric was going crazy trying to find her. If she wanted to get out of there quickly then she would have to play this one differently with Warlow. "You know how much family means to me." She softened her tone.

"I'm your family now."

"I am all Jason has. You can't take that away from us."

He dropped his fork on the plate and groaned.

"Ok, I admit it. We have a connection. I've had one since the first day I met you."

He looked up now. His eyes softened.

"I will do whatever you want, just let me get my brother."

"Fine." He stood up. "I will go get him and bring him back here."

"No, wait. You can't. He would never willingly go with you." She stood up and got in front of him.

"I can make him."

"Then he will never forgive you and trust me you don't want to have to live around a pissed-off Jason."

"I know what you are trying to do Sookie. I'm not sending you out there."

"What can I do? You already said yourself, that you are stronger and faster than me." She touched his arm and he looked at her softly. He touched the side of her face, and she fought not to cringe.

"We get him and then we come back." His tone was serious.

"Of course." She forced a smile. "I see now what I am." He got a look of excitement on his face and then his mouth was colliding with hers. It took her off guard and she nearly pushed him off but then she thought against it. She knew that in order to gain his trust, she would do what it takes. He pulled one of the straps of her gown down her arm as his mouth traced kisses. "We should stop." She gasped.

"Wait? Why?" He looked up at her with desire in his eyes.

"Because you said it's not good down there. I need to get Jason." She touched his cheek. "Plus wouldn't it be better to hold off until the actual ceremony? It's not every day you marry a half-vampire fairy."

He stood there in deep thought and then put her strap back on her shoulder. "We should hurry. Where is he?"

"BonTemps." She lied with a smile.

Eric made his way back toward Shreveport. The sun was coming at him quickly. He would have to go find Lafayette at sundown.

A familiar scent filled the air and his body felt like it came alive. "Sookie." He took off at vamp speed. He could sense her nearby.

Sookie walked up to the porch of her home. Inside it was looted and destroyed. It looked even worse than when Maryanne had taken over. Her heart sunk at the sight. Everything she had loved was in that house and now it was gone.

"He's not here." Warlow walked through the home.

"Everything is gone." She felt such a sense of sadness. It felt like she would die.

"I told you it was bad. You should see the cities or what's left of them."

"What?" She had expected it to be like it was back when the True Blood factories had been taken down before. It was devastating but it didn't get out of control.

"It was mainly the humans. The vampires merely reacted by instinct." He seemed unaffected as he walked over to her.

"But the government. Why didn't they stop it?"

"Do you really want my opinion of your government?" He rolled his eyes and then he stiffened. "We have company."

Within seconds Eric was rushing into the place. He stopped quickly as Warlow grabbed Sookie from behind. Eric looked disheveled and torn.

"Don't come any closer," Warlow warned as he barred his fangs and roughly held Sookie's head to the side.

"Sookie." The pain mixed with relief in Eric's eyes made her want to run into his arms but she knew that would only get him killed.

"You don't need to do this Warlow. I am not going anywhere with him." She forced all the emotion out of herself as she looked at Eric. He stared at her, taken back by her expression. "I told you that I will be with you and have my rightful place by your side."

Warlow looked at her and then looked at Eric suspiciously.

"Really Sookie, again? First Bill and now this? Are you fucking kidding me!" Eric yelled and it caught her off guard. "I spend all this time looking for a way to get to you and you're already onto the next guy!"

"I don't think I like the way you are talking to my soon-to-be wife." Warlow looked harshly at him.

"You know what, you can have her. I am done. More than done."

"Then you wouldn't mind releasing her?" Warlow smiled as Sookie's eyes got wide.
