Chapter 20- Summer Craze Pt: 1

Maverick POV-

I set plans with Stefan to meet at his house at eight pm tomorrow night. I guess it was about time to meet Zach considering. It was harder to do than you would think, the man is reclusive and more of an introvert than I was back in my home realm. Now I did have some amends to make with my favourite old witch and BB.

I waited 'til morning and dressed comfortably and loose because my body was feeling stiff and I had no time for tight clothing. It was some simple wide leg pants with a cami under an open button up. I was just about to leave when I had this nagging in the back of my head. It wasn't strong but annoying. I looked around to see if anything was out of place but there was nothing. My room didn't feel wrong, neither did the rest of the house, so the feeling was just off putting. I quickly left and pushed the feeling to the back of my mind.

I walked to Bonnie's house leaving Petra to watch over Windy like she always had. She had been around a lot more these days and at this point she was full time. I didn't mind because we had the spec for her and my household finally felt complete. Plus I didn't have to watch over Windy so much so I could work more. As long as she and Jorrie were safe and content then everything was alright.

I didn't bother knocking on Sheila's door and instead walked in and went straight to the living room seeing the two Bennetts practicing. Bonnie was trying hard to lift the piece of paper in front of her but was having no success. She huffed in annoyance when it still didn't move after a few seconds.

She finally got frustrated enough that she gave up. "This is impossible!"

Sheila looked amused and spotted me sharing the same look. "Maverick, when will you start knocking?" She asked making Bonnie turn to see me.

"When you start locking your door." I told her, coming to sit beside them on the floor. "And Bonnie it is not impossible."

She looked at me wide eyed and I was confused until I remembered she didn't know I wasn't a witch or something related to it. "Since when do you know?"

"Since forever." I admitted. "Sheila was the one to help me when I was younger and even now. I wanted to tell you" with everyone present "but Sheila wanted to wait until you came into your power."

Bonnie nodded. In the show she was a lot more afraid of her magic, of what she could do. The girl in front of me was much more of a calm person taking in the information and processing it.

With how quiet she was being I was getting so nervous. "Are you mad?" I asked, feeling unsure of myself.

"Only if you can lift the paper and I can't." She joked. The mood immediately lightened and I laughed.

"Sorry Bonnie Baby but that's not my forte. I'm not traditional like you and Grams."

"Boo. So what can you do?" Her eyes brightened with curiosity.

"Mostly enhancing my body, charming jewelry though i've only done a few pieces, adaptation, mimicking which I don't use often, elemental magic which I also don't usually use and dream walking but I haven't used it in ages. I also have something of a familiar but he is so fickle. I also have a fine attunement with nature and animals." Damn I have a lot of abilities and I only really use two.

"Damn Mav, you're a superhero."

Sheila couldn't help but shake her head. "No, she is a very different manifestation of magic. Where we can use nature and spirit magic she uses it in another form. But that means she won't be able to do some of the things we can and vice versa."

"Which I'm fine with but I really wanted the telekinesis you guys have. Instead I have to actually use my body to move something." I pouted playfully. Bonnie rolled her eyes at me but there was a smile on her lips letting me know she was feeling better.

"Bonnie, the paper." Sheila pointed to her granddaughter and the white paper on the floor.

"But it's so hard." She whined.

"Only because you're trying too hard. You can't make magic do what you want. You can guide it and you can accept it but forcing it won't do jack but give you a headache." I said to her. "Plus you can't just pull from your source, you have to pull from the elements and your connection to your ancestors. If you're trying to make the paper life you're asking for help from the air because you're moving within their domain." She nodded at my words.

"Ok I get it. Guide don't push." She put her eyes on the paper and took a calming breath. The feeling in the room relaxed to a zen state. Bonnie kept staring at the paper and finally it began to move up in a perfect steady line. There was no extra movement from the air like I would have needed to do. This was all magic with no assistance.

I got so excited I attacked Bonnie with a hug breaking her concentration. "I'm so proud!"

"I only made it go up." She reminded me.

"So? An accomplishment is an accomplishment."

"It would have been easier if Grams would teach me a spell." She threw a look at her Grams who was unfazed.

"This is simple Bonnie. I knew you could do it without a spell plus I don't think we have one for something so simple." Bonnie flinched at the last words. "But I was planning on getting you started with the grimoire. Maverick I'm sorry to say you can't be here for that." She looked at me sympathetically. I already knew why, her damn ancestors. Sometimes I forgot I was friends with traditional witches and that their dead family members hated me and were working for mother nature but I refused to hate them for that.

Bonnie and Sheila mean everything to me, their dead family be damned. Plus, I just found a good way to piss off some people thanks to Sheila.

I gave them each one last hug before getting up. "I'll call you later BB. You better have learned something new or else I'll be the only cool witch in town."

"Hey!" Both Bonnie and Sheila yelled at me while I made a swift escape.
