There was a lot to do. The wedding was tomorrow. The rehearsal and dinner was this evening. Last minute things had to be checked to be sure everything was done before the wedding. Alex was upstairs in the shower. Mackenzie was picking up around the living room. She looked at the couch and thought of the first time Sam told he loved her, which led to them making love.
"God, the way Sam makes love to me." She thought. "His touch, his kisses, his body, everything he does to me." "Damn it Mackenzie, stop it." "Stop thinking about Sam." "No more Sam." "I have Alex for all that stuff." "I love him."
They drove to Athens, Georgia where the ceremony was taking place. During the rehearsal that night Britt could sense that Mackenzie was forcing it. She looked happy and acted happy, but Britt didn't think she was happy.
After the rehearsal dinner Alex walked Mackenzie to Britt's room where she was staying for the night.
"Do you have to stay in Britt's room tonight?" Alex asked.
"Yes."
"Why?"
"We can't see each other before the wedding."
"I was hoping to get a head start on the honeymoon."
"As many times as you want tomorrow."
"Ok." The"y kissed. "I love you."
"I love you too."
Mackenzie and Britt were sitting on the couch.
"Is anything wrong Mackenzie?" Britt asked.
"No." "I'm just anxious."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Are you sure you want to marry Alex?"
"Yes." "I love him."
"You don't love anybody else?"
"I don't love Sam." "I love Alex."
"I didn't say anything about Sam."
Everyone was at the church.
"You look perfect Mackenzie." Britt said.
"Thanks." "Do you guys care if I have a minute to myself?"
"Guys let's clear out and give her some space."
Mackenzie went and stood in front of the full-length mirror.
"Well this is it." She thought. "I'm sorry Sam."
Alex and all of his groomsmen were waiting as well as Britt, who was the Maid Of Honor and the bridesmaids. The wedding march started. It played for twenty seconds and Mackenzie didn't come out. It started over and Mackenzie still didn't come out.
Britt went to the back to see what the hold up was. When she got back there she saw Mackenzie's wedding dress hanging on a hook. Mackenzie was nowhere to be found.
