This is a rewrite to the First chapter that I had written from last year. It was quite rushed and I was told that I have to meet the standards of the audience according to a reviewer. The first half of the story will still be the same, but the second half will be altered to a liking I had in mind. Now, let's get to the notes.

had this fanfiction in my head for a while. This may be a stupid idea, but after looking at certain Dark Souls and Elder Scrolls Fanfiction, I decided to do my own.

Now, this idea may not have been an original idea of mine. Yet I needed something that could merge the two series together. In the end, I ended up with this series. This time, I have renamed it to be much shorter.

Ashes of Skyrim

Now then. I may or may not be completing this story as there is a high chance of me going to delete this story. Just like the others. Either because I cannot process a lot of lore elements. That and also it may be a long process for me to write it. I would be grateful for at least two to four people to help with this story.

I guess I have to find out, huh?

Oh, and this story takes place right after the End of Fire for Dark Souls III. While for Skyrim, it takes place after Dragon Rising. C'mon, at least it needs to start somewhere where the Dragonborn is on a bounty hunting quest as he needs to get money for travel.

Yes, the Dragonborn will be a guy. Got any complaints?

Make sure you write a review after reading if you want.

Ashes of Skyrim Introduction: Awakening

The sound of footsteps was heard through the ash-filled stairs. The Ashen One, cladded in the full set of his Faraam Armor, knew this was a point of no return. The First Flame must be extinguished. Everything that has happened through the lands of Lothric has been through the never-ending Fire and it is about time to end this suffering.

Reaching up to the top of the Stairs, the Unkindled stopped in his tracks. There, he could see that within the ashen kilm field, there was a figure that was sitting next to a bonfire.

It was as if it was waiting for him.

The Unkindled let out a sigh to calm himself. He was aware that this was going to be a tough fight and that he wasn't going to let himself be killed. His experience from fighting formidable enemies such as the Abyss Watchers, the Nameless King, Sister Friede, Father Ariandel, Darkeater Midir, and Slave Knight Gael had made him better at combat. That and dying over and over until he was able to kill them.

Bringing out his fully upgraded Raw longsword, the Ashen One had entered the fields and slowly approached the figure. Applying a Gold Pine Resin to his weapon, the Unkindled saw the figure standing up and pulling the sword out of the Bonfire. He then looked to see it was twice the size of him, and readied himself as the embodiment of all the past Lords of Cinders rushed towards him.

The Soul of Cinder thrusted its greatsword downwards at him. In response, the Ashen One rolled towards it to avoid its attack. He then used his electrified longsword to slash the figure across. This in turn made his opponent thrust its sword at his position, but yet again the Unkindled dodged it and made another slash on its back. Unfortunately, he was too slow when his cinder enemy made another attack that sent him momentarily up in the air before landing back to the ground.

This made him dazed, but it wasn't enough to be attacked again. He managed to roll backwards to avoid a double attack before inflicting his own attacks. After that, the Ashen One distances himself and avoids the magical attacks made by his opponent. Relaxing to regain his endurance, the Unkindled rushed in to make another attack. But was grabbed around the throat before he could do it and received a burst of flames that knocked him down to the ground.

Quickly getting back up and drinking his Estus Flask, he rushed in yet again and this time dodged his opponent's thrusts attacks. Seeing the opening in the back, the Ashen One used his electrified longsword to make a triple slash. Right before he could land another attack, he had to roll backwards when the Soul of Cinder released a magic shockwave that would've knocked him down to the ground yet again.

Seeing that the enemy was about to heal up while kneeling down, the Unkindled ran before making a series of attacks. This prevented his opponent from regaining more health and stood back up. The Ashen One had to dodged magical attacks twice as the tall figure casted the Soul Greatsword to inflict some damage.

Rolling inwards towards his enemy's back, the Unkindled made two hits before he was hit by a series of sweeping attacks. Right before his enemy could finish him, the Undead rolled backwards where he could drink his fully upgraded Estus Flask and reapply a Gold Pine Resin to his weapon. Running towards the back of the enemy, he then made multiple sweeping attacks that made the giant figure kneel down on one knee. The Ashen One continued to launch multiple slashes and sweeps until the figure got back up and sent him momentarily flying before hitting the ground once again.

The Unkindled rolled backwards after regaining his footing. He got back up and saw magic particles around the Soul of Cinder. Said individual then launched another set of magic particles towards him, which forced the Unkindled to roll to the left. Shortly thereafter, the enemy then launched a magical blast, which again made him roll to the left. This time, he was getting closer and dodged a few magic particles. The Ashen One got hit by some but it didn't bother him. He got hit by his enemy's greatsword and was forced to get at a distance to drink his Estus Flask.

After drinking the substance, the Ashen One felt a bit better and decided to rush in to get a few hits. This seems to stagger his opponent for a bit until the last hit was made. Right after hitting, the Soul of Cinder quickly got back up and stabbed his sword to the ground. The Ashen One walked away from the giant but was hit by the radius of the fire. The Unkindled got back up and saw his opponent's greatsword now intensified with fire.

The Soul of Cinder proceeded to jump aggressively towards the undead, but he managed to dodge it in time. Unfortunately, he was hit by the weapon that sent him flying up in the air. The Unkindled proceeded to be slashed three more times until he landed back to the ground before he was stabbed on the floor. Rolling backwards to safety, the undead drank another two Estus Flasks before looking at his remaining ones. In total, he got about seven left and four Ashen Estus Flask. Realizing that he would use all of his remaining Flasks, the Unkindled proceeded to apply a spell that coated his weapon with dark magic.

He proceeded to run towards his enemy and rolled as the Soul of Cinder was about to grab him. He did it again and managed to land three hits on the back. Distancing himself from the opponent, he saw its left hand up in the air and had his eyes widened in realization. Instinctively, he rolled towards the figure and avoided a lightning bolt that was launched at him.

Dodging all of its swings and slashes, the Undead made his own and avoided any attacks. He was temporarily stunned when he received a kick to the face and saw the embodiment of the past Lords of Cinder jumping backwards to keep its distance away. Having a sudden feeling that this may be the final push, the Ashen One was determined to kill the enemy before him and end the First Flame.

The Soul of Cinder proceeded to launch a lighting bolt up in the air. In the Unkindled's response, he rolled to the left and avoided the lightning strikes that were about to land near him. It made another jump towards the Ashen One and made any slash and sweeping attacks that could possibly hit the undead. It managed to do so, but the Undead rolled to safety to drink three Estus Flasks.

A strange feeling was suddenly built up within the Ashen One. He knew his enemy was on the verge of death. Which is why he did not need to be greedy as its attacks could possibly kill him and he would have to do it again.

Shaking his head, the Unkindled applied yet another Gold Pine Resin and went up to his enemy. He rolled forwards to avoid being grabbed and made two hits before repeating his actions. He then proceeded to roll to the front of his opponent and right before the Soul of Cinder was about to make another attack, the Unkindled thrusted his longsword to its chest.

The embodiment of Cinder proceeded to shriek in pain before the Ashen One pulled his sword out and saw the embodiment of Cinder down on two knees. It looked up to the Eclipsed sky right before it and vanished into thin air. As it did, the unkindled felt something that was sucked into him.

Soul of the Lords

Right after the fight, the Ashen One proceeded to drop his weapon to the ground and rested onto the Ashen Ground. The feeling of relief had hit him. Finally, the one that guarded the First Flame was gone. Now all that he had to do was to finally purge the First Flame.

Managing to regain some energy, the Unkindled got back up to his feet and proceeded to go to the center where the First Flame was at. Getting to his destination, he saw a summoning sign on the ground and he was reluctant to summon her. Deep down, the Unkindled knew she was only grooming him to be the next one to rekindle the First Flame. This made him look at said object and saw it was barely managing to make more flames.

Having thought about this, the undead proceeded to touch the summoning sign and there, a woman with a metallic blindfold with long blonde hair and wearing a black dress, was materalized into the ashen field.

The Firekeeper looked at the Unkindled before she turned to the First Flame. She proceeded to kneel down at the bonfire and gathered the Flames within her hands. She somehow looked at it and began to speak in her soft, gentle voice as the surrounding area darkens. "The First Flame quickly fades. Darkness will shortly settle." She went quiet as she sensed the Ashen One sitting down on the ashened ground before she resumed talking. But one day, tiny flames will dance across the darkness. Like embers, linked by Lords past."

The undead was quite relieved to hear this. He and the Firekeeper may not be alive when the next Age of Fire will happen, but at least there will be time for peace for all of those who had suffered through the artificial prolonging of the First Age of Fire. They may be the first ones in a while who won't suffer with the Darksign within them. Knowing that his job is done, the Unkindled closed his eyes and was about to begin his slumber. Right before doing so, he heard the Firekeeper's voice for one last time.

"Ashen One, hearest thou my voice, still?"

Despite the Age of Darkness happening right now, the two undead had found comfort towards each other. Not in a romantical way. But in a way of companionship.

The Ashen One sat down with the Firekeeper. Leaning over his Onyx sword that he stabbed towards the ground. Who would have known that he rose from the Cemetery of Ash, to defeating the Lords of Cinder and finally the commencing of the Age of Darkness after defeating the embodiment of the Previous Lords of Cinder from before. His thoughts then shifted to the people he met like Seigfried, Anri, Yuria, and Patches. All of which his times with them flashed in his head as everything before him blackens.

He knew his time was over…

He was resurrected to only do one thing.

And he completed it.

Or so he had thought that it would be his end.

"Ashen One…" The voice of the Firekeeper called out to him. The Unkindled opened his eyes as he awoke to find himself in the Firelink Shrine. Instead of hearing the hammer that Andre usually does when crafting weapons, he heard nothing. The Thrones of the Lords of Cinder that was empty had simply vanished. Hell, even the bonfire that was lightened and warm was no longer in flames. It was confusing for the undead yet he could not be distracted. He looked over to where the Firekeeper was and saw her standing at the open doorway where she would normally be. At times at least. She called out to him once again. "Ashen One, we have visitors."

"Where?" He stoically asked as he stood up and saw dust falling off from his Faraam Armour set.

"Over there," She answered, pointing a finger at the entrance.

Realizing that it may be some intruders, the Unkindled got his bottomless box out. He quickly switched from his Faraam Set to his Knight Set that he first wore when he awoke in the Cemetery of Ash. The undead grabbed his fully upgraded Raw Long Sword along with the Knight shield that laid next to him on the Ashen ground.

Putting his Bottomless Box safe, the undead went over to the Firekeeper. "You better go somewhere safe. I fear for your safety. You are less experienced in combat than I am. I do not know what they will do to you"

"As thou say, Ashen One." The blind woman had gently said before she followed him somewhere safe to hide. The undead knew he wasn't going to let those visitors do anything to him and the Firekeeper. They had been asleep for who knows how long since the passing of the Age of Fire.

Shortly after putting her in a safe spot, the Ashen One looked where the Merchant woman would normally sit. There, he saw a set of armor that the Lord of Cinder had worn. And next to the Anvil was the Greatsword of the Soul of Cinder that was fully upgraded. Seeing that it could be stolen and possibly sold at the wrong hands, the Undead quickly store it in his bottomless box.

"I told you, this place may house some valuables," An unfamiliar voice reached his ears. The Ashen One remained in the Dark as he looked at these visitors in the center of the Firelink Shrine.

Observing the visitors, he could see that the armor was unique in design. Iron with horns for its helmets, leather, steel. Wasn't he and the Firekeeper in Lothric?

What also caught his attention was seeing some individuals with pointy ears. One was a male that had gray skin and wore some sort of fur armor with steel plating. The other was a female that had brown skin and wore some sort of hunter outfit. The latter of the two pointy eared people spoke while scanning her surroundings. "And what could we find? This place looks abandoned and it hasn't been occupied for at least a thousand years."

"Don't be so doubtful. I bet there would be some Dragur here with some valuables," The one being the most armored had commented and noticed something walking towards them. "Heads up. I think one is heading towards us."

The visitors had gotten their weapons out and turned to look at the dark alleyway. There, all could see a strange individual dawning a unique armor set stepping out of the shadows. A sword and shield in each hand. The Bandits looked at the individual and laughed. The sight of treasure was indeed in front of them. They could steal it easily as it was twelve of them against one. With an additional ten of them guiding the outside.

"Well well. Looks like we got a prize here," The heavily armored man spoke with a smug expression. This made the Unkindled grip tighter at his sword. "There is no possible way you can defeat us."

"Hm." The Undead observed his opponents. He could see that they are all eager to fight. If they want it, then he would give it to them.

"What are we waiting for?!" The woman with a mace said, looking at her comrades. "Let's get him and loot that armor off his corpse!" Without thinking a single second, she rushed towards the undead and lifted her mace to strike the Ashen One. Yet she was met by a long sword that impaled through her chest. She was surprised as well as the others and the bandit was instantly killed.

The Undead felt the same way and knew that they were not the same as him. 'Looks like they must be all mortals. Strange. They seem to die quickly unlike the weakened Hollows I encountered.' Feeling the presence behind him, the Ashen One blocked an attack. He instinctively uses his long sword to stab the Bandit through the throat before beheading him. Three more rushed towards him, and in response he parried all of them as they struck. As they were quickly dumbfounded by what had happened, he used his sword to cut deeply in their throats. All died in an instant.

"I'll kill you!" The Heavily armored man shouted as he rushed towards the Ashen One with a Battleaxe. As he swung, the undead dodged with inhuman speed. The battleax met the ground and the heavily armed bandit was dumbfounded at this. No one could ever avoid his attacks from his last encounters. "What in the…?" He was met by a shield being bashed against his head. It made him stagger for a bit when he felt a piercing sensation on his body.

Shakily looking down, the heavily armored bandit looked to see a long sword dug underneath his vulnerable side of the armor. What was shocking to him was how unlike the undeads he and his group had encountered before, this one gave him trouble. That and how it could easily kill all of them. Being in such a dumbfounded state, the long sword was released from the now dead body and it hit the ground with a loud thud.

Feeling the souls from the visitors that he killed being absorbed into his body, the Ashen One looked at the remaining enemies. 'Five down. Seven more left.' The undead knew he had to deal with them quickly before more would show up.

Seeing a woman with a greatsword rushing towards him, the Ashen One slashed her and died almost instantly. Since that wasn't a feature that these visitors had witnessed, he managed to block an arrow with his shield that almost pierced his skull that was shot from an archer.

The remaining bandits, now seeing that they were at a major disadvantage, only had one option left. "Fall back! FALL BACK!" The Archer Bandit called out. His comrades had heard the command. All headed out to the entrance of the Firelink Shrine.

The Ashen One blinked underneath his helmet. He never expected these mortals to retreat, despite realizing that they could have overpowered him. That or something could have played a part in how they all lack the fighting capabilities compared to the ones in Londor.

"Ashen One." The voice of the Firekeeper called out to him. He turned around to see her going out of her hiding spot. Although she was blind and couldn't see the mess around her, she could smell the blood on his clothes. "I smelleth blood. Ist thoust alright?" She asked in concern.

"I'm fine. It's not my blood." The Unkindled One answered before he noticed something. She seemed to tense up despite the metal like ornament covering her eyes. "Are you alright?"

The Firekeeper continued to sense up. Yet, she could answer his question. "I senseth something…strange." She looked at the entrance that the Bandits had come through. "The land has vastly changed to what it once was before."

"I can already see that." The Unkindled commented before he went to her and gently grabbed one of her wrist. "C'mon. We need to get out of here before their friends show up."

The blind lady looked at him in response. Soon, they made their way out of the abandoned Firelink Shrine. Avoiding any Bandits that were patrolling the area before getting into a safe distance where they can safely walk. From what the Unkindled could see in his surroundings, it was more lively back at Lothric…

That made the Ashen One question something in his mind. As the Firekeeper was right at his side, he always kept asking to himself as they followed the only path seen. "How long were we asleep for?"

Phew. This was a pain in the ass to write. Who would have known that both Skyrim and Dark Souls III had some complicated lore. Do not worry, I could understand a bit from both series.

What a way to start the story. The Firekeeper and Ashen One had awoken in the Land of Skyrim. I wonder how it could go with the two Dark Souls III characters with the other Skyrim Characters if they encounter a certain individual? I could imagine a certain vampire princess being curious and uncomfortable towards the blind lady in the future chapters.

If you think that it will be just them, I have some more in stock. They will be some characters in the Dark Souls trilogy that may come to have their appearance in the story.

You're all going to wonder, where is the Dragonborn and his Housecarl, Lydia? Well, after seeing that the chapter is extremely rushed, I decided to hold them back in Future chapters.

Before I end my notes here. I just want to make five confirmations. Again.

1. First of all, NO! The Firekeeper and Ashen One are not in a romantic relationship. Rather, it is nothing more than a Maiden having some care with those that she serves.

2. The two Dark Souls characters do not have a name yet. I already thought of the Ashen One, but not the Firekeeper. Yet.

3. I could possibly answer your question. But not accurately as I am not that good with the lore of both series.

4. The Ashen One may be involved with a certain Daedric Quest. Though I do not know which one will suit him.

5. Skyrim won't be its vanilla self. It will also have mods as well.

There you have it. Those are my five confirmations to the story. The introduction is a pretty messy start. But it will be refined in the future.

This chapter is an improvement of what I had written before. But I still feel like it could have been much more detailed and it could have been much longer.

But considering that I needed to rewrite it after seeing how horrible the pacing really was. Like, you cannot meet the characters right in the first chapter. You need to consider the pacing. There are those that would like to see this story not be trashy. It is a Dark Souls and Elder Scrolls crossover story…which the two have got a really, REALLY complex lore. I do not think I can do all of it. I need some assistance.

Saying that just makes me feel like I am those people who always rely on others for help.

Now that has been vented out, I hope you have enjoyed this rewrite. It may have not been better than the previous first chapter.
