Chapter 18: More Experiments

Flying in space, Stitch and Ruby were at the front while Leo, Ariel, Adella and Alana were in the back.
"Are you two sure you want to come with us this? This is a little dangerous." Leo said.
"Can't be any worse than what Attina's doing down there." Adella cringed.
"Yeah Attina may be the calm one but when she gets mad she can be as scary as daddy." Alana said.
"That doesn't sound so bad." Ruby said.
"Oh it is." Ariel and Leo said speaking from experience.
Back on the island, David was helping Naia carrying a box.
"I'm glad I ran into you David. Now that we've come into some money I'm trying to help Leo take a break from his responsibilities and have fun again." Naia said.
"Hey if it helps my buddy get back into surfing I'll gladly help." David said as they arrived at the house only to see the damages from Gantu's attack and Attina scolding Aquata and Arista.
"I can't believe you two would do something so dangerous and irresponsible like that." Attina said.
"We said we're sorry." Aquata said.
"If dad heard about this." Attina starts.
"Please don't tell daddy!" They begged.
"Uh what's going on here?" David asks when Andrina walks in.
"Turns out our sisters over there snuck out to see Leo without permission when no one even realized it." Andrina points out.
"Ooh that's not good. Is your dad one of those strict fathers?" David asks.
"You could say that…wait who are you?" Andrina asks looking at him.
"Oh I'm David, Leo's friend and you?" David asks.
"Andrina, my sisters are pretty close with your friend." Andrina said.
"Well Leo is very likeable. If you girls are good with him, you're good with me." David smiles.
"Oh thank you." Andrina smiles.
"Hey where are Leo and Ruby?" Naia asks looking around. "And what happened here?"
Pausing Arista and Aquata look over with nervous looks. "Uh Mrs. Rivers you might wanna sit down for this."
Up in space, Leo and Ariel were in the front seat with Stitch and Ruby in other and Alana and Adella behind them.
"You know when you and I beat Ursula I really thought we were finished with crazy people trying to ruin our lives." Leo cringed.
"Same." Ariel said.
"Ha! Jumba!" Stitch points and they saw Gantu's ship up ahead.
Pulling a lever Stitch activated the guns.
"Shouldn't you be flying this thing?" Adella asks looking to Leo.
"I don't know how to fly a spaceship." Leo said.
"Oh but your dog does?" Adella asks.
"Yep welcome to our world." Ruby said as they started firing.
"Computer activate—" Before Gantu could finish he got hit causing the ship to rattle.
Turning around he saw Stitch laughing as they closed in.
As they continued fire Jumba rattled back and forth in the cell. "626 please be shaper with the shooting!"
Suddenly one hit went right into an engine causing Gantu to slow down.
"You had coffee, today didn't you?" Leo asks looking to Stitch who seemed extra excited.
"Coconut cake and coffee." Stitch said as Leo looks to Ruby.
"Sorry." Ruby smiles nervously.
"Activating boosters and reroute power to the rear cannon." Gantu said as a new gun appeared out of the ship.
"Fire!"
"Lookout!" Ariel said as Stitch yanks the ship out of the way and Ariel lands right in Leo's lap.
"Good catch." Ariel smiles.
"Good eyes." Leo smiles.
However their happy moment was interrupted by a second attack causing the ship to rattle and shake.
"Uh what's that mean?" Alana asks pointing to the power.
"We're losing power." Ruby gasps.
"Bye-Bye." Gantu smirks activating his hyperdrive and the resulting shockwave knocked the ship.
"Everyone hang onto something!" Leo yells as they were knocked back into Earth's orbit.
All of them scream in horror when Stitch pulls the emergency switch and a parachute shoots out causing them to land safely back down.
"Is everyone okay?" Ruby asks as she looks to see Adella and Alana holding onto Ariel and Leo for dear life.
"They new to this kind of danger?" Leo asks.
"Yep." Ariel nods.
Back at Leo's house, the ship lands safely down before making a loud clanking noise.
"I think we're out of gas." Ruby said.
"Eh." Stitch agrees.
"I always wondered what happened up here. Turns out you guys do a lot more than I ever dreamed." Ariel said.
"Sadly this is just us." Leo sighs.
As the rain started coming down, David was waiting in the front room when they opened the door.
"Hey Leo, Ruby there you guys are." David said.
"Is everyone alright?" Leo asks.
"Well your new house guests are helping your mom clean up in the back." David said.
"Does she know we were out?" Ruby asks.
"Oh yeah." David nods.
Cringing Leo walks in and saw Aquata and Arista helping Red up.
"Oh no Red." Leo said.
"Don't worry it's not broken, but it's not working right either." Arista said.
"H-H-Howdy partner." Red said making multiple glitches.
"How did it go?" Aquata asks worried.
"Gantu took Jumba and got away." Rubby admits.
"Ugh I hate that big dummy." They both said.
"Same, so what happened here?" Leo asks.
"We're uh kinda beached." Arista said.
"Beached?" Ruby asks.
"It means until all this is fixed up we can't help you guys." Arista said.
"Oh up here on the surface we call it being grounded." Leo said.
"Sorry guys." They both said wheeling Red out.
"Yikes that thing really messed this place up." Alana said when Stitch went over to the trunk and lifted it up before shaking it.
"What are you doing?" Leo asks.
"Pleakley." Stitch said opening the case and Pleakley fell out gasping for air.
"Are you okay?" Adella cringed.
"How long were you in there?" Ariel asks.
"Breathing first, talk second." Pleakley pants before taking a big breath. "Okay I'm ready now. Jumba! Gantu kidnapped Jumba!"
"We know, we tried to save him." Leo said.
"Failed miserably I might add." Adella said.
"He was after this." Pleakley said holding up the wrapped object when Stitch snatched it and took it off revealing a blue pod like device.
"What's that?" Ariel asks her curiosity showing.
"Some on Jumba's science no doubt." Ruby said when Stitch touched it and suddenly it activated causing a bright green light to shine.
"Activated, select experiment." The machine said as they saw tons of small pods with numbers on them.
"What are those?" Alana asks in awe.
"More genetic experiments." Pleakley said.
"Wait there are more besides Stitch?" Leo asks.
"Well Stitch is number 626. These must be the other 625." Pleakley said.
"But why are they so small?" Ruby asks.
"They've obviously been dehydrated to make for easy transport." Pleakley said.
"How do they work?" Ariel asks.
"Well I'm no evil genius but I would say if any of these pods get wet they would instantly rehydrate into one of the 625 protype experiments each with its own unique and destructive capabilities! But…I'm just guessing." Pleakley said.
"Quite a guess." Adella raised an eyebrow.
"With more stitches we could rescue Jumba easy." Ruby said walking to it when Leo yanks it out of the way.
"Oh no not happening." Leo said.
"But Leo." Ruby said.
"Don't but Leo me. Remember how wild and destructive Stitch was when we first got him? We don't need more of them running around and causing trouble." Leo said.
"But what about Jumba?" Ariel asks.
"We'll figure something out. I don't want to make a habit of us running towards danger. So far that's happened to me 3 times this year." Leo said handing it to Pleakely.
"I'm just gonna put this away where they'll be dry." Pleakely said putting it back in the trunk and locking it.
"Leo! Ruby!" Naia calls out.
"Ariel!" Attina calls out.
Looking downstairs they saw their family members running over.
"What happened?" Attina asks.
"Aquta and Arista said you two were dealing with Gantu." Naia said.
"Also you did not say you had a cool friend." Andrina said gesturing to David.
"Sorry mom didn't mean to make you worry." Leo said hating when that happens.
"Where were you all night?" Attina asks.
"I was locked in a trunk." Pleakley said.
"Why are you wearing my shirt? That's not even your color." Naia asks.
"We can worry about that later, what do we do about Jumba?" Ruby asks.
"Ruby the ship is out of power, there's nothing we can do." Leo said.
"He's right, we're not astronauts and I doubt that mermaid magic mirror can fix all this." Naia said gesturing to the mirror at Leo's hip.
"Probably not." Ariel said.
"But we can't forget about him, he's ohana and you always say that we can't." Ruby said pointing at Leo.
"Ugh I hate it when she's right." Leo said looking to his mom.
"I might know something." Naia sighs as Leo walks away.
"Where are you going?" Ariel asks.
"To try and calm down before I get stressed out again." Leo groans rubbing his head and walking away.
"What's with Leo?" Ariel asks.
"He does that when he's stressed. Before you showed up, he did that all the time." Naia said causing Ariel to look at him worried.
Walking into the kitchen Naia took out a card.
"Hello can I speak to Cobra Bubbles?" Naia asks.
"He's asleep right now." A woman said on the other line.
"Can you wake him up? It's an emergency." Naia asks.
"Well I'm gonna make a few calls myself using my Intergalactic Periwinkle pages. There's only so many phones in the galaxy." Pleakley said taking out a phone book. "Hello Planet AAAAAH, is Jumba there?"
"Do you know what time it is?!" Someone snaps.
"Well you don't have to be rude about it." Pleakley said.
In Jumba's room, Ariel, Ruby, Stitch, Alana and Adella were looking at the locked case.
"Boy Leo really wanted to make sure we couldn't open it." Ruby said.
"Didn't he also say not to get them wet?" Ariel hints causing Ruby to smile.
"The way those two act." Adella whispers.
"No wonder Leo is so protective." Alana said.
"Hello, Planet AAAAAAH-BA is Jumba there?" Pleakley asks.
"Go jump in a lake!" Someone on the other line said.
"Well same to you fella." Pleakley said as Stich snuck past him and entered the bathroom where Ruby, Ariel, Adella and Alana were waiting.
Turning the handle Ruby waited until the bath filled with water.
Walking up to it Stitch was about to dump the whole thing in.
"Wait we don't need all of them!" Ariel said.
"Yeah just look for one who can recharge the ship." Ruby said.
As Stitch put them down they scrolled through the list of experiments when they saw one that looked like a lightning bolt.
"That looks like a winner." Alana said when Stitch clicks it.
"Experiment 221. Primary function electrical power surge." The computer said when a small green ball came out of it.
"What's going on here?" Leo asks opening the door startling them.
"Leo!" Ruby said.
"I saw the lock had been picked and thought you might be up to something." Leo said.
"Leo this is the quickest way to save Jumba." Ruby said.
"But Ruby it's dangerous. We all almost got hurt doing this." Leo said.
"But we didn't." Ariel said.
"Leo what's going on? You weren't this worried when we last saw you." Alana said.
"Well because now I have more to lose now. My life was finally getting back on track. My ohana is together, I don't worry about money anymore, my alien dog is helpful and I have a girlfriend now. I don't wanna lose any of that." Leo said.
"Wow, this is a surprise." Alana said.
"Leo why do you always worry about everything?" Ruby asks.
"Because I had to. I've always had to be the responsible one making sure everyone who was having fun could be okay. You think I wouldn't mind being the fun one? Going on adventured without a care in the world. I've had to always look at the big picture. Ruby I wanna help but…this is not an easy thing for me." Leo said feeling so conflicted.
"So in Atlantica with Marina, my family and Ursula…why did you help us then?" Ariel asks.
"Well…because you needed my help. I could see it in your eyes and I didn't want you to lose your ohana. I wanted to help you girls be happy." Leo admits.
"And we did, but Leo there's nothing wrong with being scared or not knowing what to do." Ariel said.
"But what happens if I don't know what to do?" Leo asks when Ariel puts a hand on his shoulder.
"You can let me help you." Ariel smiles.
"Me too big bro." Ruby smiles.
"Stitch always help Leo." Stitch smiles.
"And I guess we kinda owe ya one for helping us." Adella said.
Taking a deep breath Leo looks to them. "Alright let's give it a shot." Leo said causing Ariel to smile and give him a quick peck on the lips.
Taking out the pod, Stitch drops it in the water causing it to glow brightly.
"Experiment 221 activated." The computer said as all of them look in awe when suddenly a yellow cackling experiment shot out of the tub and went into the walls shutting off all the power.
"Oh come on!" Naia calls out.
"What's going on?" Attina calls out.
"The power's out." David said.
"Dark, very dark!" Pleakley said.
"What is happening?" Alana asks when 221 shot out of the power outlet and flew away.
"That wasn't supposed to happen was it?" Ariel cringed.
"No, not at all." Leo cringed.
"Oh cousin lost, Jumba lost." Stitch groans.
"You have a lot of lost issues." Ruby said as Stitch banged his head on the wall.
"What do we do now?" Leo asks when Alana pauses.
"Wait girls this is like when that time we had to babysit those mertwins when they got loose." Alana recalls.
"Oh yeah and we had to scramble to get them back before their parents found out." Ariel remembers.
"I get what you're saying. We find 221, then we can find Jumba." Leo realized.
"Then we better get moving." Ruby said as they ran out of the bathroom.
