Deku: The Hero of Smite Prologue

"I'm sorry, kid." The elderly doctor replied to the mother and green-haired boy as he slumped onto his chair. "I'm afraid there's no hope for you getting a quirk." "I know it's hard, but it's the truth." He added, shaking his head.
"No!" Inko Midoriya exclaimed as she wrapped an arm around her son's shoulders. "There must be some mistake!" She felt a pang of sadness and anger when she noticed her son trembling uncontrollably while gripping his knees tightly.
"Please doctor...check again, you must have missed out something..." She asked. "Can't you run anymore tests?" The doctor just adjusted his goggles and leaned back on his chair. "Ma'am, I know this may out of nowhere, but you are a fourth-generation quirk user, am I right?" He asked.
"Yes, of course." Inko replied, using her quirk to pick up an action figure her son dropped. "I can attract small objects towards me and my husband, Hisashi can breathe fire." "I see..." the doctor muttered as he gestured to an x-ray image of Izuku's left foot.
"At age four, a child should begin to manifest either one of their parents' quirk or a combination of both." He explained. "However, there is one very important thing that early quirk research discovered." Standing up, he pointed towards Izuku's pinky toe on the x-ray.
"The manifestation of a quirk has to do with the presence or absence of an extra joint in the pinky toe." He added. "You see, we humans have no need for parts we don't use. And those without the joint represent the next stage of human evolution."
Inko's grip on her son's shoulder tightened while the boy was shaking worse than before, tears threatening to fall from his eyes. "Izuku has two joints...something that is becoming rare these days...but I'm afraid he possesses no quirk at all."
That was it...everything the doctor said came crashing down around Izuku all at once. All his dreams of being a pro-hero, just like his idol All-Might, were dashed instantly. Soon, his tears poured down his cheeks and his sobs filled the whole room.
Inko's heart broke upon seeing her son in this state. All she could was hold onto him while she politely thanked the doctor as she carried him out of the room.
(In the Midoriya apartment...)
Inko was silent as she prepared dinner. In the car ride home, it was just as silent and upon returning home, Izuku silently went to his room, closing the door behind him. For the rest of the time, Inko decided to give him some space, worried about his emotional state.
After dinner was prepared, she went to get her son but stopped when she heard familiar sounds coming from his room. Cracking the door open, she peered inside and saw the lights were off with the only illumination in the room was coming from Izuku's computer monitor.
Slowly, she approached the chair and saw her son watching a video of All-Might on the screen. Suddenly, the screen paused, and her son spoke. "Hey mom..." Izuku croaked out, tears once again forming in his eyes as he pointed at the frozen image of All-Might on the screen.
"No matter what kind of trouble you are in... he'll always saved you with a smile." Turning around, Izuku locked eyes with his mother. "Mom...that's what I want to be...a super cool hero like that... I can still be a hero...right?"
Seeing her son reduced such a state was too much for Inko. "Oh, Izuku!" She choked out, lunging forward and wrapping him in a tight hug, sobbing uncontrollably. "I'm sorry! I'm so, so sorry!"
While the distraught mother hugged her crying son, she didn't notice a tawny owl perched on a branch outside their apartment. It had unusually white feathers instead of the normal brown plumage. It had been watching the entire scene from the tree.
"Hoo-hoo..." The owl hooted softly before pumping its wings and silently flew down, landing on the shoulder of a strange, slender figure that seemed to be female, draped in a hooded cloak. She gently stroked the owl, getting it to hoot softly.
"What did you see, Bubo?" The figure whispered. The owl hooted softly, while the figure listened quietly. She sighed. "I see." She added "The poor child, dreaming of being a hero only to have it shattered..."
"Hoo-hoo..." The owl hooted again, causing the figure to smile. "Times have certainly changed in the mortal world." She explained. "Even now, there are still heroes who the people look up too."
"A child who wished to become a hero more than anything in the world, finds himself without a special power of his own..." She sighed. "How cruel irony can be..." "I have seen what these quirks can do..." She added. "I can't understand why you would need a 'quirk' to be a hero."
She looked back up at the apartment, particularly at Izuku's bedroom window. "Do not despair, Izuku Midoriya." She spoke. "You will have no need of a quirk..." "One day, you will show everyone that even the lowest of the low can rise up and become a legend..."
As she spoke, her eyes began to glow in a soft grey color and she walked silently away with the owl flying up into the night sky.
