Chapter 20

.

Tifre knew that Selencia was a pirate, not even loyal to her fellow pirates. But Tifre had been forced into this life as well, and Selencia was the closest thing she had to a friend. Hopefully the fact that she had spared Selencia's life bought her a little bit of loyalty. Selencia told Tifre about the Gorgostone. Ofcourse everyone knew the legend of the five, how the only five survivors from the great battle divided the Gorgostone and swore to keep it from ever being used again. This had been the beginning of the three kingdoms of Faerun, Mystera, and Darokin. Darokin and Faerun had their respective orders to keep their stones safe, but ever since the great destruction of Mystera, the legends said that a mysterious hermit protected the stone, and remained hidden from the world for five hundred years. Noone seemed to know the exact locations of the other two pieces. There were rumors of the nomads, no more than two at any given time, who forever wandered the known world protecting their piece. But captain Azog had found where the fifth piece of the Gorgostone was located, or so he claimed. The last of the original five, he trusted no successor, and so spent the rest of his life building a temple. This temple had many traps, only the man who built it knew how to avoid them all. There were always legends of thieves who found this temple, but died trying to retrieve the Gorgostone. Azog claimed that this last piece was located in what was now the city of Tuma. Tifre had heard of Tuma, it was in Ork land, but on the border with Darokin. When Liam took over much of the Ork's land he built this city for them, helped improve their lives. It was a way of showing other Ork tribes that, if they cooperated with Darokin, they could improve their own people's lives. If the temple really was there, it was blind dumb luck. But there was a man in Tuma, who claimed to be the king of thieves. He built his "empire" on what he claimed was this temple. Azog wasn't certain himself if this was true, or just bluster on the part of this so called king. But the rumor was that any thief could come to this temple, and try their luck at getting the Gorgostone. Even the so called king of thieves couldn't access it himself, or he would have sold it to the highest bidder by now. That seemed to be Azog's plan, to get the stone and sell it to the highest bidder. It was ironic. These pirates were going to all of this effort to get one piece of the Gorgostone, and they had no idea that their newest member had another piece. Tifre had no idea what these pirates would do to her if they found out. She decided to do everything she could to prevent them from finding out.
