ADAS KALLIG
I had a feeling that I did something wrong.
I squatted, avoiding the bolt of electricity. It flew above me, hitting the wall and creating a large hole in the place of impact.
This day started fine, humiliating the jedi, going to the meeting with the chancellor. Then, suddenly, everyone went crazy, trying to kill each other.
I raised my hand, incinerating the couch flying in my direction, before moving to the side, letting Windu, who was thrown away by Palpatine, pass me by and hit the wall. He wasn't that hurt though, as he rushed to attack Palpatine again.
I started to suspect that this situation was somehow my fault, but I was not able to think of anything I did that would lead to something like this.
Should I help Palpatine? I don't think he would be able to win on his own. I could tell he was strong in the dark side, but Jedi and Windu were quite formidable, capable of making him go defensive by working together. However If I were to attack one of them now, Palpatine might have a chance.
I slowly started to creep towards Yoda with the intent of stabbing this green twerp in the back, or, if he were to block that, at least keep him busy enough for Palpy to kill Windu.
But when I started getting closer, something surprising happened.
"Pathetic Jedi, you think you can stop the power of the dark side?! You are nothing against me!" Screamed Palpatine. His outfit was a mess, almost completely torn up, he was also burned by lightsaber in a few places, but he was still ready to fight. He was probably using his anger to keep himself going and ignore the pain from the wounds. Then he looked at me, his eyes full of hatred. "And you! You insignificant worm, you are a pathetic excuse of a sith! When I am done with this jedi filth I will make you beg for death!" Was he mad at me? What did I do? I was on his side. To just insult me for no reason?
Was he so prideful that he prefered to fight to jedi masters on his own than to be helped?
What an asshole.
I suddenly lost all my motivation to help. Screw him, he can fight two jedi masters on his own.
With newfound determination, I decided to sit on the last intact couch in the room and not interfere in the slightless.
Things were getting quite intense. After the intense duel, Windu was able to cut off Palpatine's hand, making him scream in pain. It must have been Palpatine's plan though, as he used this to hit Windu with some spell, creating huge gashes on his body and making him fall on the ground. With the Jedi momentarily incapicated, Palpatine, ignoring his lost hand, turned to Yoda, attacking him savagely with his lightsaber. Small alien was barely able to stop a flurry of rage-fueled blows coming his way, getting more and more defensive with every passing second. Sensing an opportunity, Palpatine used his power to throw Yoda into the wall.
The moment he did that, he was assaulted by Windu. The jedi master was badly injured though, so his moves were too slow to reach the sith. Palpatine felt that too as in the next moment he cut the handle of Windu's lightsaber, destroying it and barely missing Windu's hand, as if trying to get revenge for his own hand.
Now, with his enemies defenseless before him, Palpatine started to gloat, as any proper sith should.
"Finally" he exclaimed, raising his lightsaber above himself, intending to cut Windu down. "With you two dead, there would be no one in the order capable of stopping me! But don't worry. Soon the rest of your pathetic friends will join you!" he started to laugh maniacally "I won! The sith finally won!" The lightsaber fell down.
But before it reached Windu, Palpatine was pulled from behind. Looking at the source of the pull, I saw Yoda, lying on the floor, visibly hurt, but still trying to stop Chancellor from killing the other jedi. Some would think it was a meaningless act, as both Yoda and Windu were defeated anyway. But Windu wasn't exactly defenceless.
He didn't have a lightsaber anymore, so he grabbed the object closest to him.
Palaptine wasn't able to react as he was looking at Yoda. He sensed the movement behind him, so he started to turn back to Windu, but before he was able to do anything, he was hit in the head by the Sith chalice. Mace Windu used it as a blunt weapon, breaking it on his forehead with the sheer force of the blow.
Palpatine fell motionlessly on the floor, unconscious. The battle was over.
Unsure what to do in this situation, I decided to check on Palpatine first. He was lying on the ground, full of wounds, lacking the hand and with a huge dent on the skull in the place of impact . I had a feeling it was going to be a problem.
Windu and Yoda, who previously were laying on the floor, slowly stood up, probably wanting to kill their opponent. They were exhausted though. It wouldn't be hard to kill them now. They wouldn't be able to defend themselves with these injuries. Should I do it? On one hand I would get rid of two potential enemies, on the other I would make the entire order my enemy. Options, options...
I heard commotion outside. I sensed that some people were about to enter the room, most likely alerted by the fight. I looked around the room: an unconscious and injured chancellor, two Jedi masters standing above him, one still with his lightsaber on and finally, me. Third option then.
I raised my hands and started electrocuting Yoda and Windu the moment the doors were forced open and various guards and clones started entering the room. Jedi masters were too weak to do anything, instantly losing consciousness.
"Thank the force you are here!" I exclaimed "These madmen just attacked the chancellor! They would have killed him if not for my intervention!"
Two weeks of being under arrest later, I was finally free. Apparently there was enough evidence in my favor to prove I didn't take the part in the assassination attempt. The fact that I incapacited the assailants in front of everyone also didn't hurt.
After calming down and thinking carefully about the meeting, I honestly thought that it could have gone worse. Everyone was alive at the very least, which was better than most sith and jedi joint gatherings.
It could have gone better though.
Palpatine was in a coma, the blow apparently damaged something in his brain, making doctors unable to wake him up. For now the security council would rule in his stead, making decisions in his absence.
It was quite sad, but it was on him. He didn't have to be such a jerk.
The jedi order order was in a difficult position because of the assassination attempt. Windu and Yoda, their most important members, were locked up somewhere, waiting for the trial. The rest of the order was somehow able to convince the senate that windu and Yoda acted on their own, without the knowledge of the order, but they weren't able to avoid the consequences.
The fact that two masters of the jedi order tried to murder the Chancellor in his own office wasn't well recieved by the public. The fact that it was done on religious grounds didn't help the order either. People were protesting, demanding accountability and starting to question the privileged position Jedi had in the republic.
It led to some interesting decisions made by the senate.
From what I understood, Jedi would lose their ranks in the republic military. They would be replaced by the actual military officers. They would still take part in the war, as the senate wasn't stupid enough to get rid of the republic's strongest shook troopers, but they would be normal soldiers, even if ones with more autonomy than clones.
There would also be more oversight over the order's activity, with a special representative being chosen by the senate to make sure Jedi didn't do anything suspicious.
There were also some talks about forcing jedi to change their doctrine regarding the sith, as it was apalling for such a disgusting discrimination to exist in this age. It also led to the spike of interest in the sith culture and ideology in the republic. I even got some invites to various lectures around the republic to teach the youth about the sith.
To summarize, the situation on Coruscant became fairly interesting.
It was a perfect opportunity to start my own organisation. The Jedi wouldn't stop me as they were too busy with their own problems to care about me. Now that the Chancellor was outed as a member of a discriminated religious memority, the opinion about the sith raised sharply. I also became quite popular, thanks to me stoping the dangerous assassination attempt. It shouldn't be hard to start things now.
I needed some funds first though.
That meant Tython.
