ADAS KALLIG
"It's great to finally see you" Said a man before me, extending his hand. He was in his forties, wearing mandalorian armor, like everyone else in his group. He was excluding a certain sense of authority, meaning He was probably a leader of mandalorians surrounding him. "My name is Pre Vizsla"
"I am happy that descendants of clan Vizsla are still alive and well. Shae Vizsla was a friend and an ally." I said, shaking it.
After taking control of Nar Shaddaa, I was approached by a woman named Bo-Katan. Apparently the leader of the clan Vizsla knew about my connection with the former clan leader and wanted to restore it. It's not like I had anything against it. Mandalorians were great allies (when they are not bloodthirsty, glory-driven idiots) and having some elite troops wouldn't hurt.
That's why I was in Concordia, hoping to create a beneficial alliance, giving me access to some of the most dangerous soldiers in the galaxy.
The question was, what did they want in exchange? Such a commitment surely wouldn't be cheap.
"...Yes, Shae Vizsla. The blood of Mandalore the avenger runs strong in our clan. It's one of the reasons I invited you" he said, signalling me with his hand to follow him. His reaction was quite interesting. Why did he react this way to me mentioning Shae? Was he her fan perhaps?
I shouldn't be surprised, Shae was an impressive woman, trying to bring change to mandalorians' old ways.
It probably meant that Pre Vizsla was quite a reformist himself, trying to follow in the steps of his great ancestor.
My group was led to the big building in the middle of the city we were currently in. From the looks of it, it was a Pre's manor, from where he was ruling Concordia.
When we entered it, we were escorted to some conference room where we all sat down to talk.
"Tell me, Pre Vizsla '' I started " how did you know about my connection to Shae? There is almost no evidence about my existence, let alone my allies in the republic or jedi database" i was quite interested in the answer. Information about my era was scarce, almost suspiciously so.
"It's quite simple" He laughed "We treat our history with respect, doing everything we can to remember where we came from. We are not like a republic, corrupted and weak, erasing anything that is too uncomfortable for them to handle" he then pointed at me "you united both republic and the empire under your command, you defeated the most powerful sith in history and you saved the entire galaxy. And yet nobody knows about you, because republic and the jedi erased everything, afraid of your achievements"
I was pleased by his flattery. I knew he wanted something from me and his words were leading to it, but it was always nice to hear some sycophantic flattery from others.
"But clan Vizsla remembered. And you want to enter an alliance with me, from what I have heard" I said, waiting for him to give me a reason why it wasn't possible right now. He obviously needed my help, he wouldn't have come up with this proposition otherwise, I just didn't know what he needed help with yet. Why can't people just speak plainly?
"Yes, we would be honored to once again fight together with you. Our forces are too small to be of any use though. Too many mandalorians rejected us, swayed by nonsensical ideas, spread by Satine Kryze, the new leader of Mandalore" he then pointed at Bo-Katan, who was standing in the corner, listening silently. "Even her own Sister joined us in response, such hideous were her ideas"
So I was right after all. Pre Vizsla wanted to reform mandalorians, just like Shae. This Satine Kryze must have been a horribly bloodthirsty warlord for even her sister to abandon her. Mandalorians treated family ties quite seriously. She probably planned to start the next mandalorian war or something similar.
"So, if I understand correctly" I said slowly, looking straight into Pre Vizsla's eyes "you are saying that my mandalorian allies, ones who stayed loyal to me for thousands of years, are now threatened by a corruptive influence by a woman named Satine Kryze?" When he nodded, I smiled at him. Overthrowing a violent mandalorian warlord sounded like a lot of fun.
"How horrible, something must be done about it" I exclaimed dramatically, still looking at Pre Vizsla, waiting for his reaction.
He gave me a smile. It wasn't a pretty one.
I couldn't blame him though. My own smile wasn't exactly much better.
BO-KATAN
After finishing the talk with Adas Kallig and giving their guests rooms to rest, Bo-Katan and Pre Vizsla left the conference room. They were walking down the hallway when Pre Vizsla decided to speak.
"It went rather well, wouldn't you agree?" He said, visibly happy with the results of the talk. They were able to convince the sith lord to aid them with a promise of an alliance. New mandalorians wouldn't be prepared for someone like that joining the Death Watch, giving them an advantage. Things were looking good. There was one question though.
"Yes, it did" She said, looking at Pre Vizsla to see how he would react " But I have a question. Are we really going to enter an alliance with Kallig? He will be a great asset, but he will surely want to collect his debt after the coup" She was sure of that. Kallig already started creating his own faction, she was able to see it herself on Nar Shaddaa. Whatever he planned, mandalorians had their role in it. She just didn't know what role it was going to be.
"What?" She looked at her, as though he thought she was joking. When he noticed that she was serious, he started to laugh "Of course not. Mandalorians must stand alone. We will not bend to some random sith's whims. He was stupid enough to think that some alliance from thousands of years ago would mean anything"
He then became serious, his voice filled with grim determination
"When we will finally overthrow Satine and Mandalore will regain its former glory, we will deal with Kallig, one way or another. No sith or Jedi should have anything to say about Mandalore's future" with these words he left her.
Bo-Katan agreed with his sentiment, but she had doubts. She was able to feel sith's power and her every instinct was screaming at her that Adas Kallig was too dangerous for them to antagonize. Unfortunately Pre Vizsla didn't feel the same, already planning to betray the sith. She wasn't sure it was the best idea, but it was not her decision to make.
She could only hope that they didn't make a mistake asking Adas Kallig for help. For both her and Mandalore's sake.
