ADAS KALLIG
The moment I entered the atmosphere of Dromund Kaas, I felt a certain kind of nostalgia. How could I not? In a way, you could say it was my home.
I wasn't born there and I began my sith training on Korriban, but Dromund Kaas was close to my heart nethertheless. It was the place where I became a sith lord by defeating my master, Darth Zash. It was also the place where I learned about my heritage as a scion of house Kallig. In many ways, Dromund Kaas shaped me.
That was why returning there after so many years filled me with excitement.
Travelling there wasn't my original plan. I was actually on my way to Coruscant, when Maul, my new apprentice, brought up the fact that he probably wouldn't be welcomed in the republic after he pulled some sort of prank on jedi in his youth. I didn't know what exactly he did as his explanations quickly turned into shouting obscenities about Jedi master Kenobi, triggering Satine, turning the entire situation into a shouting match between them. Anyway, Maul's situation in the republic probably wasn't great.
Knowing that Jedi were vindictive bastards, I decided to contact Palpatine. I probably could talk with someone less important about this, but I also wanted to see his reaction. We didn't end our previous meeting on good terms, so I didn't want to risk entering hostile territory. Who knows what Palpatine would plan? He was a sith after all. We didn't forgive easily.
Fortunately Palpatine was surprisingly accommodating and actually helped me with smoothing things over. More importantly, he told me about a ritual that was about to take place.
Lifting the dark veil. It was quite an interesting plan and their success would have really interesting effects.
After all, finishing this ritual would release a lot of dark side power. Lifting the veil would essentially mean ripping a dense blanket of dark energy encompassing the entire galaxy and tossing it out. It sounded really dangerous, but all this power would eventually disperse, naturally absorbed by life in the galaxy, bringing balance to the force again.
And there was nothing wrong with that. I knew why they tried to lift it and I didn't really care that much about stopping it. Sure, it felt nice to always be surrounded by a soft blanket of the dark side, but it wasn't like I would be weakened by it being lifted. In truth, I was overjoyed when I heard about the plan.
Because it was a great opportunity for me.
I mean, all this power, just tossed aside. It would be a waste not to use it, right? After all, it was better to do something with it than to ignore it. I was actually doing the galaxy a favour!
That was why I was going to Dromund Kaas. I needed a dark side nexus to use this power to its fullest. Dathomir was technically fine for that, but I knew I was about to do something extremely difficult and taxing, so I needed all the focus I could get.
And the ancient sith tomb of grandpa Aloysius on Dormund Kaas was perfect for that.
My ship was getting lower and lower as I was looking for the tomb, straining my eyes to see the familiar shape. It was some time since I was there and the city that was near the tomb was gone, falling into ruin, so it wasn't my fault that it was taking so long!
Fortunately I was soon able to see the tomb's stihulette in the distance. It looked as majestic and imposing as I remembered. Grandpa Aloysius had a great taste! Well, technically the building I was seeing wasn't his tomb, but the temple built on top of it, but it was an unimportant detail.
I was getting close to the location of the tomb. I decided it would be best to land close to the entrance of the tomb to save myself time. I was about to do that when I noticed that the land before the tomb was actually inhabited.
There were people there, and judging from various tents and huts in the area, they were there for some time. I could see smoke coming from numerous bonfires, rising into the air slowly.
It looked like a big camp, with maybe a hundred inhabitants or so. They were hurriedly gathering in one place, probably in reaction to seeing the incoming ship. Seeing people before grandpa's tomb was...displeasing.
"Do you know who they are, my lord?" Asked Leila, as she was watching people below us through the cockpit window. I already told her we were going to visit an ancient tomb, so she probably didn't expect to see anyone there.
"No" I grounded out. "But I will find out" they better not be some greedy archeologists, trying to find some ancient artifacts to sell them for a hefty price. There was no way I would allow anyone to desecrate grandpa Aloysius' tomb!
After landing a walking distance away from the camp, I quickly left my ship, not even waiting for my followers, forcing them to catch up to me. I heard my droid shouting something from the ship, like it always did after noticing me, but I decided to ignore it for now.
I didn't have time for entertainment right now.
While I was walking towards the camp, I noticed that its inhabitants were waiting for me at the entrance. I looked at them, trying to figure out who they were.
They were all emitting a faint dark side presence. It was not enough to consider them strong, but enough to know they were actual force users, or at least they were attuned to the dark side. They all wore identical dark robes with weird symbols stitched on them, giving them a mystic look. They all looked quite unkept and had a crazed look in their eye.
I had suspicions about their identity. If I was right, these people wouldn't have a good time. I shouldn't do anything yet though. Maybe I was wrong and they weren't who I thought they were.
"You, outsider! Who are you?" exclaimed the man in the front, probably their leader. He felt a little stronger than the rest, so I was probably right. "How dare you interrupt our sacred duty!" He shouted loudly with an obvious superiority in his voice.
"Sacred duty?" I repeated his words, anger slowly rising inside me. They really were... No, Calm down, Adas, give them a chance.
"You pathetic heathen! We are members of the Dark Force, created by Darth Millennial himself! It is our sacred duty to study the dark side! To experience it! We came to this tomb to taste the dark energies here! To.." He continued to speak, but I didn't listen. I finally had a confirmation. I saw red.
"I knew it!" I shouted loudly, silencing the leader. He was looking at me, surprised I interrupted, but I didn't care "You are just some dark side addicts trying to get yourself high using my ancestor's power!" He was about to say something, maybe to refute it, but he wasn't able to do that as I hit him with lightning, killing him instantly.
I then started hurling various spells at his followers, ignoring the shock of Dark Force members at their leader's death.
"GET THE FUCK OFF MY GRANDPA'S LAWN YOU FUCKING JUNKIES!" I screamed, sending more lighting at them. I Wouldn't let my ancestor's tomb be used by some crackheads!
Few minutes later, when I already came to my senses, me and my followers were the only people around. Most of the junkies ran away, though unlucky few were now laying dead before me, smoking slightly.
Some would call my actions excessive, but it had to be done. Dark side addicts were the worst, as they were immune to normal reasoning. You had to be brutal with them or they would be back to nacrotize themselves with dark energy in the air, committing homicides and public acts of immodesty.
Fortunately I was able to stop them before they did anything horrible to grandpa's tomb.
Seeing that there was no one left, I decided to enter the tomb. However I wasn't able to do even two steps before sensing a familiar presence nearby.
"Finally, I was afraid these rubble-rousers would never leave!" I Heard a voice coming from my side. I felt a huge grin forming on my face as I quickly turned around in its direction.
"Grandpa Aloysius!" I exclaimed, voice full of joy. There was a transparent figure standing before me. It was wearing a mask, the same as I did and ancient armor, covering its body fully. Aloysius Kallig, because that was his name, was standing before me, as a force spirit, his hands spread out, as if ready to hug me.
"Little Adas!" he responded, his voice cheerful "It's been so long since I last saw you! How have you been, lad?"
