ADAS KALLIG
"Okay, listen up children!" I announced, looking seriously at everyone in my group. We were gathered in the official briefing room located in Second Fury. It had holographic screen and everything, which meant it was all very professional.
We were about to reach Coruscant, as we needed some vacation after all of our adventures, to relax and restock. However I needed to lay out some ground rules first.
The fact I had to do it saddened me, but I knew it was necessary. Some of the members of my group were not exactly the most responsible people and I was worried they would create all sorts of trouble during our stay on Coruscant. I wondered why they were so irresponsible, as they certainly didn't learn it for me. Whatever was the reason, it wasn't anything I would be able to solve at the moment. I could only watch them so that they wouldn't do anything stupid.
Unfortunately Lana wasn't coming with us, as she said something about catching up with things after being dead for thousands of years and gathering information so that she would be up to date with everything. She would spend most of our stay on the ship, only joining us later.
I didn't think it was that important. From what I was able to observe, not many things actually changed, as everything looked roughly the same as 3 000 years ago. For some reason she didn't agree with me, shooing me out of her room. Well, her loss. I would have all the fun and she would stay on the ship, reading something boring. It meant that there would be only one reasonable adult watching the children though.
That was why it was so important for me to explain what was allowed during our stay and what wasn't. It would just be easier for everybody if I established some rules beforehand.
"Raksh!" I started by pointing at the gentle giant of the group, who stared at me back blankly. I probably should have nothing to worry about, as he was normally quite calm and collected, but I wanted to be sure. "No killing or eating people on the planet without my explicit permission, or in self-defence. It is one of these so-called civilized places, so people would frown if you were to devour someone in front of them. They wouldn't say anything, but they would think of us as country bumpkins. And I would like to avoid that"
"NO KILL, NO EAT" responded Raksh readily, nodding. Good, he was always one of the dependable ones. He would be fine on Coruscant.
"Next, Leila" My finger went to my favourite cultist. She was visibly happy, as she always was when I was speaking to her, waiting for my orders expectantly. "I probably shouldn't worry about you, but I will just say it, if only for my own peace of mind. If you want to convert someone to your cult, fine, but do it in your free time. We don't want to cause any trouble here and religious conversion conducted during the official business would look back"
"Yes, my lord!" She replied happily. I probably had nothing to worry about there too. The easy part was over.
...now it was time for problem children.
"...Satine," I said, looking at her.
"...Darth Imperius" she responded quietly, apparently knowing what I was about to say. Well, she was a bloodthirsty warlord who prefered to solve all of her problems with her fists, so she probably already expected to be called out.
As much as it pained me to do so, I should be stern there. She had to know that she wasn't allowed to just do whatever she wanted on Coruscant.
"I will only say it once. Don't try to cause any trouble on Coruscant. Before you do anything irresponsible, think about your sister. Think about yourself. I am sure neither of you want for something bad to happen" I said, hoping to make her realize that if she were to do anything stupid, it would make her sister look bad. And Satine could get into some sort trouble, making it necessary for me to save her.
It pained my heart to be so stern with her, but I knew It was necessary. Satine liked to act composed and dignified, but she was actually one of the more unhinged members of my group. For all I know she would get into some drunken bar fight the moment I stopped watching her.
"...I understand. I won't cause any trouble" said Satine quietly. It looked like my "stern father speech" worked. She looked depressed though. Maybe I was a little too harsh? No, she needed to hear it. Maybe it would make her think before acting in the future. Let's continue.
"Maul" I said, looking at the most troublesome member in my group, who was just watching me with an unhappy frown. I knew he was someone I had to monitor the most, as he had a lot of auto-destructive tendencies. "We will see many people on Coruscant. Some of them will be jedi. We can even potentially meet Obi-Wan Kenobi there." He growled after hearing that name. I looked him in the eye, daring him to say anything. He stayed silent, cowed but still angry. "You are not allowed, I repeat, not allowed to attack him. Do you understand?"
I honestly didn't have anything against him fighting some jedi. It was a fun and practical hobby, suited for any sith no matter the age. If he were to calmly announce that he would like to fight a Jedi, I would snatch one for him to fight, it really wasn't the problem.
But he was obsessed with revenge and that just couldn't stand. That was why Obi-wan Kenobi was off-limits for him. Maul needed to learn how to control his rage first, then we could talk about letting him fight his rival.
He didn't say a word, apparently not agreeing with my decision at all, judging by his hostile expression. I knew he would be the most unreasonable member of my group.
"I need you to say it. Repeat after me: I won't fight Obi-Wan Kenobi. I will be a good boy" I said, putting pressure on Maul with my power. He stumbled, not expecting the sudden weight. He tried to fight it, but he wasn't strong enough to free himself. Unable to do anything, he looked at me angrily. We stared at each other for a while, none of us ready to relent. Eventually he lowered his gaze, knowing that he couldn't win this fight.
"...I won't fight Obi-Wan Kenobi" He grounded out, sounding like saying this sentence physically hurt him.
"And?" I pressed him to continue. He gritted his teeth.
"...And I will be a good boy" He said it with so much hatred that I couldn't quite believe he meant it, but it was enough for the moment. He just needed to behave.
"Grievous, I will try to look for some good parts for you on Coruscant. Get ready for the update!" I said to my ship droid, giving him some good news.
"You imbecile! You lunatic! Release me! Release me! I will kill you all, you hear me?! I will kill you all!" He responded, happy at the news.
Well, it looked like I was done with my speech. Time to visit Coruscant!
We were standing in front of the Second Fury, waiting for the welcoming party. They were being sent to accompany us to the place where I could conduct my lecture. It was the first point of our visit, so we would all go there together.
I didn't see much point in giving us an escort, though I guessed it was probably something political. Me and Maul were one of the few sith left, so Palpatine probably wanted to be sure we would be safe. Nice gesture, despite the lack of necessity.
I was only a guest on Coruscant anyway, so I didn't plan to argue against it. Not like I planned to do anything illegal there.
We saw some people exiting the building near us and approaching our landing site. They were probably our escort. It looked like it consisted mostly of Jedi. There wasn't Selleana among them though. Shame, visit would be so much interesting then.
Next second I however realized that it wouldn't be boring at all, even with the lack of my favourite frenemy.
The group that was approaching us was led by a familiar bearded man in a jedi robe. That was unexpected, to say at least. I quickly looked at Maul, trying to see how he was reacting to the sight of his sworn enemy. I could see that he was shaking slightly, desperately trying to contain his fury. He didn't even draw his lightsaber. Progress! I was so proud of him at the moment!
Our escorts, led by Obi-Wan, reached us. The Jedi master was looking straight at me, not noticing a familiar face among my followers. He didn't waste any time, instantly speaking to me.
"Darth Imperius" he started. He technically acted politely by using my sith name, though his tone of voice suggested he was using it like an insult. I had a feeling he wasn't happy to see me, though I didn't know why. Our last meeting was at least cordiale. He looked at my company. "We are here to escort you to..." He trailed off, noticing Satine. I thought he would react to Maul, not her. Oh, right, they were friends or something. I totally forgot about that!
"...Satine," he whispered softly. Yeah, He obviously didn't expect to see her in my company. "What are you doing here?" He asked, confused. He was looking at her in complete surprise, as if he couldn't comprehend her presence on Coruscant.
"...Obi-Wan, I am so sorry..." Satine replied, voice full of sadness. Well, she should be sorry. It was so rude of her to visit Coruscant and not even tell her friend about doing it. Not even one message, like: Hey, I will visit Coruscant with Kallig. Wanna grab lunch?". It was quite rude.
For some reason, efter hearing Satine's apologies, Obi-wan turned to me, fire in his eyes. What? That didn't make any sense. Why was he mad at me? She was the one who was supposed to inform him! I had nothing to do with it!
"Why is Satine with you?!" He shouted, angry. Huh, so it wasn't about Coruscant. Satine didn't even inform him about travelling with me. Why didn't she? Wait, was he her jealous boyfriend, angry that she was spending time with another man? That would make sense. She was probably afraid something like this would happen, SochÄ™ kept quiet, to not upset him. Man, long distance relationships were hard.
"What did you do?! She wouldn't..." Obi-wan started to scream, but trailed off again, seeing a seething Maul watching him in silent fury. Well, that was Awkward.
"You!" exclaimed Obi-wan with a voice full of shock and anger. He instantly reached for his lightsaber, ready for battle. It seemed that Maul's feud wasn't one-sided. Good to know. Though I hoped Maul would be able to keep his calm. We were there on a vacation after all. I looked at him.
Maul was shaking violently, but otherwise he didn't react so far. You can do it Maul, I believe in you! Fight your instincts!
He opened his mouth. For a second no sound came out. Then I heard it, instantly knowing I failed.
"KeeeeenOOOOOBI" Maul's scream was like an avalanche, slowly gaining intensity, eventually becoming a thunderous roar. Everyone was looking at him. He already caused a commotion. I had to do something!
I slapped Maul hard, silencing him before anyone could react to his outburst.
"Damn it Maul! You were so close!" I shouted, frustrated at my pupil's lack of development. How do I reach this kid?
