The sun shined across the ranch as Kai caught up with his Pokemon for a few hours before having to make it back home. Not wanting to walk alone, he let out Lucario from his Pokeball to walk alongside him

"Have you reached a decision as to what region we will travel next Master?" Lucario questioned Kai as they reached the town sign indicating they arrived.

"I have but want to keep it as a surprise for now. And for the last time buddy quit calling me that. I think I rather have you call me an insult at this point." Kai sighed.

"Very well Master." Lucario said as he smiled with his head bowed while walking

"Thank you." Kai stated relieved. "Wait what did you just say?!" Kai realized in frustration and disbelief.

"That's it your gonna get it!". Lucario ran laughing while Kai chased after him to his mother's house.

Once they arrived, they were able to sit down with Olivia and have a dinner between the three of them. While many would find it strange to witness two people having dinner with a Pokemon such as Lucario sitting down and having it's own meal, it has become quite common for Kai since they have bonded over the past 3 years since he started his journey as a trainer. After all, the pair have faced many trials and been forced to persevere through these challenges. However, their journey has also led to many happy and enjoyable experiences, with the good far outweighing the bad.

Kai first traveled with Lucario through their home region, the Kanto region. It was there where Kai captured Pikachu who is now Raichu and charmander who is now Charizard. Kai's Kanto Team consisted of Lucario, Charizard, Raichu, Nidoking, Gengar, and Seadra. While Kai was very happy with their first performance in a Region's League, his team and him were disappointed due to falling short. Kai had a good run but was ultimately eliminating in the Top 4 in a very close battle.

Next, the group traveled through the Hoenn region. Kai realized there that he would switch out members of his team with new ones he caught in the Hoenn region (With the exception of Lucario). He preferred to alternate his Pokemon rather than keep the same 6 or completely forget about old Pokemon from previous regions. In the Hoenn Region, Kai caught Pokemon such as his Floatzel, which was rare considering the Pokemon is native to Sinnoh, his powerful Tyranitar, and other strong members such as Sceptile, Electrivire, and Ninjask . Again, Kai and his team would be disappointed due to a rough loss in the finals.

However, this loss gave Kai a lot of media attention and praise from trainers, news reporters, and figures from around the world. It was rare for a young trainer to be able to reach Top 4 and second in his first two leagues. The world considered Kai to be a prodigy and an upcoming star. It granted the young trainer a little bit of fame but nothing extreme. Kai was ecstatic at first but also still very determined to be able to win his first League. Fame wouldn't deter him from that.

This year, Kai had set his sights on winning the Johto League Tournament. There, Kai captured Pokemon such as his Flygon, who played a key part in winning the tournament, and other members such as Typhlosion, Espeon, Noctowl, and Gliscor. Once again, Kai reached the finals of another tournament. He was set to face a tough opponent named Charlie Wilson. Charlie was able to reach the finals with relative ease with his starter Pokemon Blaziken, but Kai had also made quick work of his opponents. Determined to finally win a league, Kai battled Charlie using his 6 best Pokemon. Lucario, Flygon, Charizard, Floatzel, Tyranitar, and Raichu all fought valiantly and with heart. While all his Pokemon fought great, it was Lucario who defeated Charlie's best two Pokemon by himself to win the Johto League Tournament.

This was 2 weeks ago and Kai was living the life. Returned home to celebrate with friends, his mom, and Pokemon. His win earned himself even more media attention and conversations began of what was next for Kai. While he could challenge Johto's elite four to reach the champion, Kai didn't want to do that just yet in his career. He knew he needed more time to hone his skills and better himself before attempting a challenge such as that one. Due to this, Kai was ready to make his next decision that would alter his life greatly.

"Hey Ma, I know that you missed me a lot since my journey took off but I came to my decision on what I'm going to do next." Kai said with a frown while looking down at the dinner table. It always sucked making his mom sad. He knows that since she is not married, she is often alone by herself but she knew that Kai loved traveling and accomplishing his dreams. Because of this, she would never get in the way of this.

"It's ok Kai I completely understand. Are you traveling through another region?" Olivia asked with a smile that warmed Kai's heart.

"Sinnoh is the next destination for me. I'm leaving there tomorrow morning. Professor Oak told me that it's Pokemon are spectacular, scenery is amazing, and I'll be able to improve there some more." Kai answered pumping his fist in the process.

"Well you better get some rest dear. It's already 12am." Olivia informed Kai as she hugged her son.

Time skip

8AM

Kai stared off the railing of the cruise ship accompanied by Lucario next to him. Sinnoh would definitely be a blast. He smiled thinking of how much him and his Pokemon would likely enjoy their newest journey. His daydreaming was interrupted when a girl accidentally bumped into Kai after losing her balance walking in heels.

"Oh my god I'm so sorry. Are you ok?" the girl asked in a panicked manner.

The girl looked close to Kai's age of 17. She had long black hair, brown eyes, and stood about 5'6. She had a curvy and athletic body. The first thing Kai noticed about the girl was that she was extremely attractive. She wore a black crop top along with blue leggings. Kai snapped out of his trance before he started to drool and look absolutely pathetic.

"No worries I'm alright." Kai responded smiling at the girl

"Wait, are you Kai Ledger? The Johto League Tournament winner? I'm a huge fan oh my god!" the girl said excitedly as she jumped up and down.

"I'm Sarah, I'm a Pokemon coordinator traveling to Sinnoh for this year's Grand Festival." Sarah said shaking Kai's hand. "I always thought you were cute but not this cute…" Sarah flirted while now running her hand up Kai's arm.

"Thanks Sarah, I think I'm alright but your definitely the better looking out of the two of us." Kai responded. Make no mistake, Kai didn't flirt with random strangers often but it also wasn't every day an absolutely attractive girl approached him thinking he was good looking.

The horn of the cruiseship sounded off, signaling the arrival to the Sinnoh region. The passengers outside cheered and rushed to the railing hoping to see the region.

"Damn, I have to go find my friend but it was really nice meeting you. Here's my number. I'll text you." Sarah stated before kissing Kai on the cheek and rushing off. Kai looked at her running for a few seconds in disbelief before turning to Lucario, who was shaking his head smiling.

"I know you saw that Lucario. That is how I roll!" Kai bragged while grinning. Lucario just continued to shake his head, almost not believing the luck his trainer had just then.

"Don't get too cocky now Master. May I remind you how naïve you were with Natalie last year when she confessed to liking you. Definitely not one of your most smooth moments with a girl." Lucario said while chuckling.

"Ughhh don't remind me!" Kai whined while inwardly replaying that embarrassing memory in his head.

The duo traveled on foot for about 30 minutes before they arrived at Professor Rowan's lab. While they could have started on their journey and made their way to challenge the first gym leader, Professor Oak had asked Kai if he would be able to deliver some of his most recent research by hand. Kai and Lucario made their way inside the lab and were immediately greeted by one of the laboratory assistants.

"Welcome, you must be Kai. Please, let me show you to where Professor Rowan is." The black haired assistant said as the trio walked into another room. Inside, Professor Rowan sat at his desk, typing away almost furiously at his keyboard before noticed Kai's entrance.

"It is nice to finally meet you Kai. I have heard many good things about you from Oak and others." Rowan stated as he shook Kai's hand

"Thank you sir it's a honor to meet you." Kai responded kindly before handing over Professor Oak's research.

"Thank you my boy. I would love to answer any question about the region since your new here. I also have a Pokemon I think would like to join you-" Professor Rowan was interrupted as the doors burst off to reveal 4 men dressed in a black outfit similar to army gear. Each person was armed with handheld weapons similar to a small 1 foot stick with an electrical current at the end. All of them sent out a Pokemon, which included a Crobat, Mightyena, Aggron, and Magmortar. While Professor Rowan and the laboratory assistants appeared shocked with their mouths hanging and unsure of what to do, Kai and Lucario immediately raised their fists and got into a fighting stance. The pair both flared out their aura, readying themselves for a fight.

Chapter 2 everybody! Hopefully you all enjoyed. Now to clear up a few things. In this story, the age to become a trainer is 15. Kai is 17 years old. This story will have a lot of action and having a lot of trainers who are extremely young would just complicate things. In the next chapter, I'll be introducing this evil organization so stay tuned. Also, I know I said that I would make each chapter about 5k words but I've made a change. Instead, I'll be posting chapters frequently that are close to 2k words. My goal is to build up this story and slowly start to increase how long each chapter is if the story becomes more popular.
